Announcing The Peekskill Permissionless Sticker Grant
Here's the deal. We live in a town that has death-trap intersections, can't keep a brewery in business, and is full of so many old people it could be a retirement home. We want to encourage the next generation to get their voices heard to help make this a more inviting place for weirdos, artists, and creatives so we made this anonymous tumblr to gather sticker designs and we're going to pay to have them made and distributed via secret dead-drop locations to maximize anonymousness and encourage permissionless statements about our community to encourage discussion and change-making.
Design rules:
"Not Poorly Designed" this is a general requirement that just requires that the creator of the design put more than two brain cells to work making the sticker design.
Square. We will be ordering 3x3" square stickers. They are best for the 'gram.
Ideally your sticker design is a statement you want to make about our community. What do you want to see? What would make people stay here for more than 15 minutes? What will keep you here? What do you want visitors and people new to the area to know?
You are not limited to the King's English, the language of the oppressors, we can use google translate.
Once stickers are made we will be distributing them. You'll get a lot of your stickers and some of other permissionless participant stickers too. It is important that our efforts not be in vain so we expect to see these stickers in visible locations to inspire conversations so that the decision makers who make things happen in Peekskill can discuss our statements.

Summer Schedule
You will have seen my earlier post about Wilde’s lecture in Narragansett Pier. Perhaps we should place that visit into the wider context of Wilde’s Summer schedule of 1882 and his yearlong lecture tour of North America. Continue reading Untitled

Paul Robeson speaks to reporters on August 28, 1949, about the riot in Peekskill where he was supposed to sing. The local KKK (yes, there was one) objected to his open admiration for Communism (as well as, no doubt, his color) and tore down the stage on which he was supposed to appear. Busloads of Harlem residents had gone to the concert, a benefit for the Harlem chapter of the Civil Rights Congress. Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, and Lee Hays were also on the bill. The ensuing riot injured eight people, two seriously.
Robeson asked Governor Thomas Dewey to open an investigation of the riot, but he refused.

i am once again begging people to understand that the Hudson Valley is not upstate New York
it's a beautiful place to live and it's not the City but it's downstate
there's so much more state
#a day in the life of mlle sarcasme#this is one of my pet peeves#'in upstate new york!' and i look it up thinking i might recognise the place#and it's in the hudson valley#and i'm like yes that is a gorgeous part of the state#but it is not upstate#for everyone who likes to ask the question 'well where does upstate start then?'#albany. it's widely agreed that upstate starts around albany.#so i don't wanna hear 'upstate' applied to poughkeepsie or newburgh or peekskill#or heaven forbid SCARSDALE#westchester county is DOWNSTATE new york.#i will meet people in the pit about this

How To Choose The Right Landscaper Near Peekskill, NY For Your Project
Finding the perfect Landscaper Near Peekskill NY is crucial to transforming your outdoor space into a beautiful and functional area. Whether you need a garden overhaul, lawn care, or hardscaping, selecting a reliable professional ensures your project is completed efficiently and meets your expectations. Here are some tips to help you choose the right landscaper.
Assess Their Expertise
When searching for a landscaper, evaluate their expertise and range of services. A professional landscaper should offer services like garden design, lawn care, hardscaping, and even specialized tasks like Masonry Repair Zip Code 10566. This versatility ensures they can handle any aspect of your landscaping project.
Check Their Portfolio
Always ask for a portfolio of previous projects. Reviewing their work gives you insight into their style and quality. For example, if you’re interested in unique stone patios or retaining walls, a good Landscaper Near Peekskill NY will showcase similar projects to prove their capability.
Verify Licensing and Insurance
Professional landscapers should have the necessary licenses and insurance. This protects you from liability during the project and ensures they adhere to industry standards.
Read Client Reviews
Look for testimonials or reviews from previous clients. A landscaper with glowing reviews from clients in Peekskill or the 10566 area is likely reliable and skilled. You can also ask for references to speak directly with past clients.
Ask About Materials and Techniques
A skilled landscaper will use high-quality materials and employ proven techniques tailored to Peekskill's climate. For instance, when considering Masonry Repair Zip Code 10566, they should recommend durable solutions that withstand weather changes in the region.
Get a Detailed Quote
Request a detailed quote that breaks down the costs of materials, labor, and additional services. This transparency helps you compare landscapers and avoid unexpected expenses.
Prioritize Communication
Choose a landscaper who listens to your ideas, answers your questions, and communicates clearly. A landscaper who understands your vision is more likely to deliver results that match your expectations.
By following these tips, you’ll find the perfect Landscaper Near Peekskill NY to create the outdoor space of your dreams. For expert landscaping and Masonry Repair Zip Code 10566, check out IM Landscape & Masonry for professional, reliable services.
