• Chemo treatment week 33 out of 70 • Well Forrest had a pretty good week. He got to see the movie the good dinosaur and he loved it! His blood work revealed today a perfect ANC of 3280. He hasn't had an ANC that high in over a year. Even before chemo! Unfortunately his anemia levels dropped again to 7.4 which basically guarantees a blood transfusion next week before we leave. I'll be going back to Boston tomorrow to donate blood since I wasn't able to today. Forrest will be getting chemo Monday and then Wednesday he will have his blood transfusion in the morning then an appointment with his neurologist to discuss his facial movements and schedule another MRI MRA to determine what could be causing this. If all goes well we will be heading home next Friday! We are so ready for the heat and to see all our family and friends. I've been asked on multiple occasions what people should buy Forrest for Christmas and the best answer I can give is Forrest has a collection building of schleich animals. If you feel inclined you can buy one of those for him. He doesn't need much else at all. Forrest loves mail. If you send him a card with a picture drawn or cut out from a magazine or printed out, he will be so so so excited. Please send all mail to Forrest Mitchell 38 Russet Hill RD Franklin MA 02038. •Chemo treatment week 31 out of 70• We enjoyed a very great break at home so returning to this was very hard. Forrest was in a good mood this time until we went back to the chemo room. He completely stopped talking to anyone, wouldn't allow anyone or anything to touch him. It was a hassle but we had to start his monthly antibiotic before we started chemo. He began vomiting and screaming and was totally inconsolable. He began having a slight fever and high blood pressure readings. He fell asleep after they gave him some meds to relieve the nausea. While he was asleep the doctors came in and said his blood work revealed his platelets were at a critical level so chemo wasn't going to happen. Depending on his numbers next week he may be having a transfusion and we may be having to postpone our Christmas trip to Florida. When he woke up from his very short nap he began screaming again. They weren't sure we should go home but he was cleared after he finally calmed down. He began feeling better as the night went on and finally ate something for the first time that day and had a bottle. His sleep was awful but that's nothing new. We really hope next week goes better. His involuntary facial movements are much worse. They have a neurological team working on it, but they've told us they have never seen this before. It's a medical mystery. •Chemo treatment week 28 out of 70• I just realized I was so caught up I didn't do my weekly update. Forrest's ANC only dropped to 730 so we were able to make our trip to Florida! His involuntary facial movements are getting worse each week and we still don't know the cause. His anemia levels have dropped lower but still not critical. We really hoped the blood transfusion would have lasted longer. His attitude is better all around and we are hoping our time off of chemo will make him even better. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we try to find out why his face is still doing the movements. We send love, hugs and fist bumps! #bebraveforforrest

•Chemo treatment week 27 out of 70• This week has been up and down. Forrest's moods are doing better. Still having lots of issues with aggression and lethargy. His naps are still at 4-5 hours and he's still exhausted. He tries so hard to be happy but it's clear there's something preventing that. His involuntary facial movements have not stopped and have been happening for longer episodes. The doctors have no idea what is causing it since his MRI was stable and they held the medicine they believed were causing it. Neurology and the whole oncology team are working on it. His anemia is still hovering at 8.6 which isn't critical but we really hoped it would have stayed higher since he had that transfusion. His platelets are at normal level which we are so thankful for. Unfortunately his ANC is 970. He still received chemo since it was above 500 but we were all shocked to see it drop to half of what it was last week. What everyone may or may not know is we were planning to come home for two weeks after his last chemo next week. If his numbers are below 500 next week then that trip may not be able to happen which breaks our heart. We just can't risk a plane ride. Please keep us in your prayers and thoughts as we try to find out if Forrest is having seizures or what the involuntary movement is and as we hope his numbers are high enough for us to come home. MRI UPDATE: Well today was a long day! Forrest was assigned a specific MRI machine and they almost put him in the wrong one so our 9:30 appointment was pushed to 11:40. He went into recovery and enjoyed his cherry popsicle and got two balloons. He's still a little drunk from anesthesia but it makes him really funny so we kinda like it. We sat down with the doctor and received the good news that his tumor is STABLE! No growth at all! We could not be more excited about that information. We also were told some slightly unsettling news, that there are two very small tumors in the frontal lobes of his brain. This does NOT mean the cancer is spreading. This does NOT mean his diagnosis has changed. It only means he has 3 diffuse astrocytomas that are being treated by his chemotherapy medicines. With all that being said, we are very relieved for the time being. This is just the beginning of hopefully all stable scans. We appreciate everyone keeping us in your thoughts and prayers.
