I'm so excited to show off my final design! I loved how EVERYTHING turned out and I absolutely can not WAIT to go to TFCon! I have one last thing to do before I can say this project is complete! So please look out for a surprise I've been working on in order to wrap up this whole art event! XOXO

I have not drawn ANYTHING since the holidays, I've been so busy with my Acid Splashed Art Event (more updates on that soon!) I haven't gotten the chance to draw!! SO I decided to stay up late in the middle of a work week to draw and admire the love of my life--

Alright guys! The official first post of my starting point of my ACID SPLASHED cosplay is here! I’m currently making and designing my cosplay for TFcon LA 2025 and I finally have all my materials to begin! During this art event I will be sending progress posts until my completed project is done… later down the line I do have a surprise so stay tuned!

The first day for crafting was yesterday, and here’s what I had accomplished :)

I figured I’d start with the outfit itself to try and figure out how I wanted to lay the texturing with the paint… it ended out exactly like I’d been wanting it to! After adding tears, paint and ruffing up the fabric with sand paper, I topped it all off with a shit ton of glitter…

My home is covered in it.

That took most of the day, but with a bit of time left after (since I didn’t work the next day) I figured I’d pin and map out the main structure of my backpack! This is supposed to hold the wings so I used thin foam and thankfully the black foam brick I was using (left over from a Christmas gift) and as super light… I’m so glad I saved it.

I would like to say that I had a little help, but Artesano is far from being a helper… he’s a destructive kitty and he stole a piece of foam over night and it’s now his new scratching post/chew toy… but I figured I’d let him keep it, haha!

Another introduction to an OC of mine, and one of my most cherished possessions, Pyron! This is an OC I created the moment I got my first car back in 2016 🧡

Pyron is still my current car today, and has ALWAYS been temperamental, haha!

A sketch of Swiffer, my Sweep OC~ typically he has a scarf but I put him in an ascot to see how he looks! To be honest he wears it just as well!! I love his sass~!

This is everything thats happened on day 4!

This day was mainly focused on one HUGE thing… Painting!!!

I had decided to quit working on my gauntlets for this day because I thought it would have been a nice break to decompress and focus on painting and texturing the backpack/wings, as well as the hair pieces!

To prime my foam before I paint, I use Modpodge… I was going to use flex paint buuuut… didn’t have any! So I was resourceful and decided to make a dent in my giant tub.

Typically when I make TF related costumes, I ALWAYS get the gloss Modpodge, helps the paint look shinier!

I painted it with a glossy flat green, and Modpodge has this really pretty shimmer overcoat that I used as its top coat!! That’s what gives the green that sparkly look!!

You can also see I taped off where I drew the stripes that are on the seekers wings! That way I could hand paint them easier with a white bg rather than a green :)

The red and white liked on the wings were mixed and sprinkled with gold glitter! There’s a big glitter theme with this costume! I love glitter!

I also painted the inside of the vents gray in both the back pack pieces and the head piece! (Which I never took a picture for :/)

But next was the best part that brought my entire vision together! I got to play around with texturing with sponges to help my design look acid burned and filthy! It was so fun doing this! And the results made me cry 😭

The last thing I did on day 4 was style my wig!! It wasn’t anything crazy, just some messy but cute style!

It looks a LOT nicer here, but as time went on I messed it up a bit more! That will be shown in my following days!!!

Onto day two!

The second day of my event has arrived and I spent the entire day outside from 8am to 6:30 pm gluing together pieces, designing a base for the head piece(s) and adding foam layers and textures to the back pack and wings! I also made the little vents that sit above the seeker’s shoulders and textured those too!

To be honest everything went super smooth on day 2, I didn’t really run into any bumps since I had made my layouts the night before…

Despite there being no bumps, the entire day was a bit awkward. I live in an apartment complex and we do not have balconies here. Instead we have a slab of concrete and a little space in front of our door that we could technically consider a porch. Since I was working with very strong adhesive glue and heat gunning and shaving foam, I had to set up outside cause there’s little outlets out front of the door and I don’t want that shit all over the apartment for me or my cats to breathe in or deal with.

But this also means I was now set up outside…

One delivery guy showed up and I had a whole conversation with him sort of awkwardly explaining what I was making because he kept asking me questions. It wasn’t a big deal, really, I love sharing my geeky side, but it was one of those conversations where he asked who the character was and once I told him we just kinda looked at eachother in silence. You could clearly tell this guy had no idea who Acid Storm was…

He then admitted to only knowing the live action movies by asking “which movie is he in?”

I just told him he’s in the original G1 cartoons from the 80’s and left it at that because I knew I could lore dump all I wanted and this man wouldn’t have understood…

But anyways, he was a nice guy though! I’m glad he stopped to talk with me regardless of the conversation awkwardly falling off due to lack of finding mutual ground… but it’s cool! He walked away with a causal chuckle and we both said our goodbyes and went on with our day.

Anyways here are the progress photos to show what I worked on day 2! I’m pretty proud with how it’s coming along!

Ugh… day 3

By far the hardest day.

Day 3 I ended up moving onto the gauntlets I wanted to make because they’re the most detailed thing Im going to bring into this costume. All the supplies had arrived and I was way too excited to get started on designing them.

The vision I had for these gauntlets was something I had never done before with any of my cosplays, I really want to implement some really cool effects into them, ones that reflect Acid Storm and his abilities.

These gauntlets are probably going to be the most detailed thing about my costume, as far as technology goes… and I’ve never had to dabble with anything more than LEDs… and not even in depth…

I’ve only ever bought remote controlled light buttons that I didn’t have to wire or anything because I have no idea how to do any of that! And I also should mention that I’m TERRIBLE at geometry and math which is like… super important when building a 3D object…

That is why this day had me STRUGGLING.

I had to figure out how exactly I wanted to make these gauntlets look because not only are they going to be the casing of a little battery pack for LEDs, but they’re also going to house a fog machine that’s the length of my entire forearm.

Fortunately I had an idea of how I was going to approach it… unfortunately that tactic did not work.

I had to start with just a base outline of my arm and I needed to figure out the measurements I was looking to achieve, that part was easy, I can measure objects no problem… but I have no idea how to translate that measurement into angles and DEFINITELY NOT CIRCLES.

The point here was to make the gauntlets as close to Acid Storm’s forearms as possible, and this is how it started.

I took the measurements of my wrists first, and attempted to translate that into a circle. Thinking I was a genius and that I had all my numbers correct, I cut out the circle on a piece of cardboard first then realized that it was not the size I needed it to be, it was far too huge. 😭

I tried this TWICE and eventually got frustrated and moved to paper cause cardboard was too much of a pain to cut out with an exacto knife just to try and estimate the size of a circle, which was my next tactic after failing on trying to get an actual mathematic measurement of my wrist.

So I just kept cutting holes into paper purely guessing and just made them to fit the size of my wrist in a snug way…

After that the rest was a piece of cake because I just drew out a bunch of squares which are much easier to match sides with to build the frame of the gauntlets.

I then made little tabs on them with duck tape so I could make a paper version of what I was looking for! I then cut through the tabs to get the individual pieces again and then traced them into foam!

I also made a little container for the big centerpiece of the gauntlets, my fog machine! That way it could sit in a compartment comfortably inside the gauntlet.. after I cut those rectangles out of cardboard, I also transferred them to foam.

With all the shapes cut out, and after a lot of time with gluing, I finally got a design I am proud of…! I did have to alter twice because my measurements were a bit off but it fortunately didn’t ruin the project LOL and I could easily add pieces!

With that being done, I cut out the base where my upper forearm will sit and finished the frame… all I have to do now is just add the two side faces! One will be removable for easier access into the gauntlet should I need to change out the fog machine or battery pack!

So here’s the final result!

Thanks for joining me on 3 day!! I still have so much to do… but! I did take a cool picture of the LEDs I plan to put in them! Hopefully you can see the vision I’m going for!

DAY 5, THE FINAL DAY

IM SO EXCITED!!!

This day was focused on last minute sewing and finishing up the gauntlets!! My little sister actually came over and helped out a lot! Which was so fun because I got to teach her how to spray paint and texture with paint!

In all seriousness I think this project means so much more because of the moments I got to make with my sister 💚 she’s so creative and I’m really glad I got the opportunity to show her a different side of creativity. I taught her how I did the wings/back pack and then after I built the gauntlets, she pretty much decorated them all by herself and I’m so happy to show off her work!

We did the same process as day 4, more Modpodge and spray paint! And then my sister did all the texture and glittering, too!

I’ve never pointed it out before but on the tops there are two compartments I incorporated inside, this is where the fog machine and battery pack for the LEDs go!

While she was focused on texturing, I went ahead and sewed on the buckles to my harness!

And with all these things done, I was 100% finished with all the making of my cosplay… all that’s left is the final try on…
