I'd love to know the Ryu number of Snoopy from Peanuts.

Snoopy has a Ryu Number of 4/3/2.

(CORRECTION: Per @inquisitorsirjohannvonfallbaer, Cleopatra appears in the Art of Conquest expansion for Empire Earth... in a sense, giving Snoopy a possible Ryu Number of 3.)

The shorter route is courtesy of @Skapokon, who points out that you can hear the Turtles saying "Cowabunga!" occasionally when racing with the party wagon in Hot Wheels Unleashed. The same, however, cannot be said for Snoopy, who neither barks, yelps, nor snickers, as he often did in the animated Peanuts specials.

Complicating matters is that the vehicle in question is just called "Snoopy", very much implying that you're just controlling Snoopy piloting his doghouse, but he's also, of course, completely unmoving, and the framing of Hot Wheels Unleashed means that these are all toys.

So if that doesn't float your boat, the longer route is through the in-person appearance of Snoopy's archnemesis, the Red Baron, in the apparently very competent if not just straight up good licensed Peanuts dogfighting game, Snoopy Flying Ace.

I remember…

Hard as this may be to believe, the Peanuts daily comic strip was as well known in its time as Beyoncé or Tay-Tay are today. And Peanuts, like other mainstream comics lacked a single black character.

Harriet Glickman took to her typewriter in the wake of Martin Luther King’s assassination and implored Snoopy creator Charles Schulz to add a Black character to his comic.

Given the racial enmity of the time, the easy answer would be “no, the country isn’t ready”.

This is not the path Schulz chose. He stepped up. No, you don’t change hearts and minds with a single appearance in a comic. Instead you introduce a new character and slip him into the Peanuts gang without fanfare.

I entered high school fifty four years ago, two summers after Franklin first appeared in Peanuts. My high school population was 80% white, 20% black. Except for gym class, I had but one or two black kids in any of my classes my four years. They were redlined out of college prep classes the same way their parents were redlined out of our town.

I remember. I remember when Peanuts was more than a comic strip.

i think snoopy would be more effective against the joker than batman because he’s funnier and more supreme in every way. the question we should be asking is could the joker handle snoopy? (he can’t)

I went to IHOP with my parents for dinner on Wednesday night and something really made my evening. I was wearing a Christmas sweater with Snoopy and Woodstock from Peanuts on it and one of the servers said that she liked it. I thanked her and I'm still smiling at that comment.
