Today's the anniversary of my beloved Drama and English Teacher passing away, so I did this peacock (which is actually a symbol of death, resurrection, and the afterlife).

What’s that? My adoring subjects want to know more about their beloved, fascinating Emperor? So you can think he’s even more interesting than you do aleady? Which seems impossible, I know— since he's already SO interesting.

— buuuut, happily!

Okay, so a lot of people have asked me; hey Kuzco, what’s with the peacock feathers?! They’re all over the palace, in that one royal receiving room, on the alter at your almost wedding; what’s the deal?

Welllllll, a long, long time ago when I was the worlds cutest teeny, tiny adorable Emperor to be, I was being toted along from village to village with Yzma (gross, I know— but I was a kid, I didn’t know any better!) in a ‘caravan’ of sorts by the Royal Guard.

Yzma started to complain about needing a break, so we all pulled off to the side of the jungle trail to rest. Once yours truly was fawned over by the servants and royal nannies, I was left alone for a while to play by myself beside the golden litter.

At first nothing interesting happened, but soon there was a weird rustling coming from the brush RIGHT before the biggest, most colorful bird I’d ever seen poked its head out and looked right at me. We had a staring contest— which I won, naturally— and the bird darted off into the jungle in defeat, but I wasn’t done with it yet! So I followed it a little further into the brush and found it in a clearing with two of its little babies.

They were all staring at me, and the mommy bird puffed itself up and spread its tail feathers, and I couldn’t take my eyes off of it. It was gorgeous, and no toys, clothes or gifts have ever matched the vibrant colors— I mean, come on! They even LOOK regal, don’t they? Perfect symbolism for such a dashing, incredible REGAL looking guy. Eh heh.

So, ever since that fateful day, I’ve been admittedly pretty interested fascinated by peacock feathers. We try to use them wherever we can in the palace-- and a little known fact, I've got a few peacocks in along with the llamas out in the Royal stables, that I visit pretty often. Mmhm.
