Pawn's Gambit Premier

In the aftermath of the Krang Invasion, the Earth Protection Force and its head, Agent John Bishop, start Project Renaissance in order to find a way to combat such threats should they ever appear again, as well as deal with the problem of yokai and mutants that have recently become more and more of a problem. With this, they decide to create clones of the only beings able to defeat the Krang in the first place, and train them to be obedient soldiers. It doesn't go as planned. The kids escape the EPF and go searching for their genetic donors, but they're hiding something from their fathers...

Indulging myself by boring you all silly with the characters I love. And a snippet of writing that I'll forever be jealous of. Read that, at least.

And after discussion, I told her that I am willing she should.” He stopped for the expected barrage of exclamations of surprise and questions, letting Jamie field most of them.

Yes, she'd gotten her high school equivalency diploma, just last week; but No, she wasn't interested in college, even assuming that, like Michael, she could win a scholarship to help with tuition. Yes, she understood what an all embracing responsibility tunnel security was—that was why she wanted it, it was too much for Vincent or anybody to do all alone. Yes, she knew it could be dangerous (brandishing her cast enclosed wrist); but No, that didn't deter her. And No, she admitted she couldn't play chess, or move as fast or as silently or in pitch darkness as Vincent did, or have fangs or claws or the strength of berserker rage (though the question was more politely phrased) the way Vincent did. She'd manage just fine without them, using her own strengths of determination, forethought, courage; night sighted goggles recovered from the killer who'd come after Vincent Below; her thorough familiarity with the whole of the tunnel system, less only than that of Vincent and Mouse; an extended system of deadfalls, diversions, and traps she'd worked out; and, if they failed, the little crossbow bolts that could punch nicely through sheet steel—or bone: devastating, at close range. And Yes, all this in spite of the fact that she was eighteen, and a girl, and she didn't see what that had to do with it anyhow.

With the latest little update of Limbus Company it's confirmed that Don Quixote canonically beats Sinclair at chess entirely because whenever she starts losing she runs to Yi Sang who's so out there he intervenes purely so that the pieces are in the optimal configuration.

I thus suggest that Sinclair enlist the aid of Outis and pull off his own Evil Advisor Gambit, with Evil Advisor being a role that Outis was born and raised to perform, and the Evil Advisor Gambit also being something Don Quixote would fall for a hundred times out of a hundred.

I am a huge fan of @bluepeachstudios and @alicat54c and the newest book they’re writing is no exception! I really loved their first chapter of Pawn’s Gambit. Bardi and his brothers deserve all the love. This was going to be when Leo first found him but I didn’t finish it. I recently got a new marker set so the coloring isn’t wonderful but I hope they like it.

one of the best parts of ninefox gambit which i haven't seen mentioned by a lot of people is how snappy cheris & jedao's banter is. they have such good chemistry together it's such a pure joy to read

A BLACK PAWN. You are a black pawn. Don't let the pawn be misleading, this means you're full of potential. Being the pawn, you're one of two pieces that can move first. But since you're black, you're always one step behind white. Who is it that you're trying to catch up to so badly? Black doesn't always mean you have to be in someone else's shadow. If anything, it means that you can be one step ahead of them, hiding intelligence that no one would consider you even have. Be careful how you use this information because alone a pawn is easy to fall, but too smothered and you won't be able to move. Regardless, you'll become a force of nature by the end of your journey. What would you sacrifice along the way is, perhaps, a better question than what will you become at the end.
