Happy Feast Day
Feast Day: November 8
Patronage: sick people, loss of parents
Elizabeth of the Trinity, born Élisabeth Catez was a French Carmelite nun and religious writer. Elizabeth entered the Dijon Carmel on August 2, 1901. She said, "I find Him everywhere while doing the wash as well as while praying." Her time in the Carmel had some high times as well as some very low times. Today, we know about all that she felt and experienced in her writings. Elizabeth died at the age of 26 from Addison's disease, which in the early 20th century had no treatment.

The very first topic of 2024 is LUNARPUNK - because, what even is it, exactly? How does it relate to solarpunk? Can it be described as a movement, or an aesthetic stance, or more of a vibe? What's going on with this nascent genre? Tune in to the discussion now and join the conversation!

so ive been trying for ages to buy some new jeans (because of the previously mentioned FUCKING HOLES in my FUCKING JEANS) and it just occured to me that i have access to a) a levis store in my local area with some very intense employees who will immediately start talking to you upon entering the store and b) the internet. so i have devised the jeanius strategy of going to the store (im gonna be in the area on friday anyway) and getting the employees to help me pick some styles to try (not gonna be a problem as i said they immediately start trying to sell you shit as soon as you enter the store) and trying them on and lying and saying none of them fit me (what are they gonna do? arrest me for not paying? im not taking anything they cant do shit to stop me) and making a note of whatever style actually does end up fitting me and going home and ordering them on ebay secondhand (i have no income and brand new levis are 90 quid and holy shit you can get some cheap stuff on ebay). i call this strategy the try-on-buy-on deception gambit
#patronsaint-ofthedenial made me post my strategy for the world to see. just dont tell levis ok#my ramblings

Today we celebrate the Virginmartyr Filothea of Argesh, Protectress of Romania. Saint Filothea’s mother died while she was still young and her father remarried. Filothea's stepmother proved to be a dishonourable woman, often punishing the young girl for her apparent disobedience when she would give their possessions away to the poor. Her father often reprimanded her as well for her spiritual life, but she continued to attend the divine services and to do good to others as her mother had taught her. The young Filothea excelled in virtue, prayer, and almsgiving. When her father worked in the fields, she was sent to take food to him. More than often, not all the food would reach her father as she would give much of it to the poor children begging in the streets. When her father complained to his wife about the minimal food she prepared for him, his wife responded that she sent him plenty of food, but rather that he should ask his daughter what she does with it. Out of spite, he decided to spy on the young Filothea. He witnessed her pious deeds of almsgiving, and in a frenzied rage, he drew his axe from his belt and hurled it at his unexpected daughter. This wound proved fatal and at 12 years of age, the young Virgin Martyr Filothea gave up her pure soul to the Lord. Filled with remorse for his deed, he tried to lift his daughter off the ground, but she became as heavy as a rock. Her father repented of his sin and confessed before the Archbishop of Trnovo who came with a procession to translate the holy relics to the cathedral but the body would not budge. Naming various places to the Saint, the Archbishop mentioned the Monastery in Argesh of Romania were they able to lift the body. Her holy relics were translated there and have been a source of countless miracles. May she intercede for us always + #saint #filofteia #filothea #filothei #philothei #romania #argesh #virginmartyr #martyr #alms #almsgiving #poor #charity #love #spiritual #faith #patron #patronsaint #protectress #miracles #miracle #wonderworker #orthodox #saintoftheday (at Curtea de Argeş, Argeş) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cl24euKDK-s/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Violeta, the Patron Saint against Drunkenness
On full moons across the prairie I would see her levitating through the sky. Her eyes aglow, radiant with love so passionate it could sear a steak.
Passed on too many years ago, now a saint. Violeta, purple, is her name. Saint Violeta became the Patron Saint of wild violets on the prairie. The most gorgeous, perfected violets ever.
Violeta, was left in a patch of wild violets on L’anse Violeta, violet area, as a baby. Adopted by Paul and Penny, a childless couple.
Violeta, color of wine, remedy against drunkenness. Her life reduced drinking on the prairie, except at mass.

St Titus Brandsma, Patron of Journalists? According to the latest issue of America magazine published by the Jesuits, Pope Francis has expressed “full support” for naming St Titus Brandsma “a patron of journalists.” The pope’s statement came in response to a request by Mr Emmanuel Van Lierde and three Dutch journalists during an interview. On 15 May 2023, the Church will be celebrating the 1st anniversary of Titus’ canonisation. During a press conference held days prior to the canonisation of St Titus, a Dutch #journalist asked Míceál O’Neill, the prior general, for his support in the efforts to have #titusbrandsma named patron of journalists. He presented the prior general with a letter to #PopeFrancis from #Catholic journalists accredited to the Vatican. The letter outlined reasons why the newly canonised St Titus should be designated as patron of journalists. Part of the letter says “you will canonise a man who embodied these crucial journalistic values until his dying day ...” The journalists recall the 2018 admonition of Pope Francis for journalists “to promote a journalism of #peace,” a “journalism that is truthful and opposed to falsehoods, rhetorical slogans, and sensational headlines. A journalism created by people for people, one that is at the service of all, (…) a journalism committed to pointing out alternatives to the escalation of shouting matches and verbal violence.” Later in the letter the journalists write that they see #sttitusbrandsma as a friend and advocate for the entire profession, indeed a #patronsaint of journalism. The text of the interview now appears in Dutch in a book reviewing the 10-year pontificate of the pope. The book is entitled Paus Franciscus: De conservatieve revolutionair as well as in the weekly Tertio. We have SO many amazing things on our website (and in-shop, too), that it can be hard to catch everything. We have a stunning collection of antique Mexican retablos, and I wanted to share these two I just rephotographed and added to their listing, with even more close up details apparent. These two 19th century retablos feature Santa Rita de Cascia; when she was canonized in the year 1900, she was bestowed the title of Patroness of Impossible Causes. In Mexico, Santa Rita is widely venerated as the Patroness Saint of mothers, abused wives and heartbroken women. There’s so much more to her story — if you’d like to read it, and look at these pieces more closely, follow the link in our profile! #santaritadecassia #santarita #santaritaretablos #antiqueretablos #retablos #mexicanretablo #retablosmexicanos #patronsaintofmothers #patronsaintofheartbrokenwoman #morherhood #heartbroken #margheritalotti #catholic #catholicart #religiousart #folkart #patronsaint #art #decorate #antique #antiquepainting #antiqueart #shop #nyc #unionsquare #beadsofparadise (at Beads of Paradise NYC) https://www.instagram.com/p/CnIkP5OuaHY/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

💚🤍🩶🖤Hi there🖤🩶🤍💚
My name is J and this is my aromantic blog with a side of asexuality and a small hint of the occasional gender-talk.
I mainly prefer he/him pronouns but I'm okay with they/them especially if we're like not very close or something idk. He/him feels more personal for some reason
This is a blog for all ages. I am technically an adult and I don't wanna put an age limit on my blog since there's nothing NSFW here anyways (besides brief mentions of sex)
I feel like it's worth mentioning that I don't like to use the term aroace or the sunset flag for myself. I don't have an issue with it, but for me being aro and ace are two different things
My intention with this blog is to talk about the aromantic experience, whether that's personal or general and to spread positivity for everyone on the aromantic spectrum
Feel free to ask me about anything aspec related, whether it's something you'd like to know more about or you're questioning your own identity. But just know, I am not an expert or an authority and I do recommend looking into other sources as well
This blog is open to anyone who is aspec or just looking to learn about aromanticism, but for the love of god be kind.
My main is @patronsaint-ofthedenial if you're interested but whatever I post there is not up to this blog's standards
No love songs playlist
And a playlist of some of my all time favorite songs
