NEVER DIE. NEVER WIN. ETERNALS.
What’s the point of an eternal battle?
For millions of years, one hundred Eternals have roamed the Earth, secret protectors of humanity. Without them, we’d be smears between the teeth of the demon-like Deviants. Their war has waged for all time, echoing in our myths and nightmares.
But today, Eternals face something new: change. Can they – or anyone on Earth – survive their discovery?
From the thought provoking minds of Kieron Gillen (The Wicked + The Divine, Uncanny X-Men, Thor) and Esad Ribić (Secret Wars, King Thor) comes a new vision of the classic Marvel mythology!

ABSTRACT I will discuss VR and AR as multimedia artistic experience. I will focus on the forms of immersivity in both kinds of experience: virtual and augmented. Within the scope of the investigation the role of sound in the process of organizing multisensory experience will be also examined. As the result of this exploration I will try to propose a typology of immersive experience in art. As the exemplary analyzed material I will use in particular my recent curatorial project +100: Three works that envision the emerging Avant-Garde. The project includes following works: The Shape of Things to Come (Roderick Coover, Krzysztof Wołek), Folded Maps of Time (Marek Chołoniewski, Chris Cutler), Temporary Nation (Piotr Wyrzykowski, Echo Ho). The 8 dumbest mistakes from NFL Week 16, ranked
Baker Mayfield got his own teammate injured, Vernon Butler punched the wrong person, and in the NFC East, as Hans Gruber would say, “Do you really think you have a chance against us, Mr. Cowboy?”
Santa gifted NFL fans an early present on Saturday of Week 16, when each game of a triple-header was increasingly more exciting than the last. All three results were pivotal to the playoff race too. The Texans won the AFC South for the fourth time in five years, the Patriots won the AFC East for the 1,100th time in the last 20 years, and the 49ers kept their No. 1 seed hopes alive.
It was fun, watchable, and even if the ending was predictable, there was still meaning behind it all. Kind of like the NFL’s version Home Alone, minus Macaulay Culkin (this year, anyway).
What Saturday’s games didn’t deliver on, however, was anyone stepping on nails or setting their hair on fire, figuratively speaking. Well, other than the turnover-fest that Texans-Bucs quickly devolved into, but whenever Jameis Winston takes the field, that’s implied at this point, right?
Luckily, there were plenty of missteps to go around Sunday. The results of the games were slightly less predictable, but there were also some heart-pounding moments (from the Dolphins-Bengals and Giants-Washington, no less!) and some straight-up carnage (mostly, the Cowboys’ dignity). Kind of like NFL’s version of Die Hard, minus Reginald VelJohnson.
Does everyone else want to marathon Christmas movies now? Yeah, us too. But first, let’s gather around the yule log and toast to Week 16’s eight dumbest mistakes:
8. The Seahawks’ cowardly punt set the tone early against the Cardinals
Nobody is going to argue that a punt in the first quarter ultimately decided the course of that game. But what it can do is set the tone for the next three quarters, especially when one team has so much on the line.
While the Seahawks have already clinched a spot in the postseason, and the NFC West comes down to their Week 17 game against the 49ers, there is still the matter of seeding — and that means they needed a win against the Cardinals on Sunday.
They did not get one. More than that, they had one of the most cowardly punts of the season. From the Arizona 39-yard-line on fourth-and-7 late in the first quarter of a tie game, the Seahawks punted.
SEA decided to punt to ARI from the ARI 39 on 4th & 7 with 3:51 remaining in the 1st while tied 7 to 7. With a Surrender Index of 15.42, this punt ranks at the 97th percentile of cowardly punts of the 2019 season, and the 95th percentile of all punts since 2009.
— Surrender Index 90 (@surrender_idx90) December 22, 2019
It’s also worth noting the punt came after a delay of game penalty. They could have attempted a field goal like they had planned before the penalty, or just gone for it with Russell Wilson. But nope, Pete Carroll decided to punt. The Seahawks wouldn’t sniff the Cardinals’ side of the field again until late in the third quarter, and they would go on to lose, 27-13.
7. The Saints ran a great fake punt (until Justin Hardee dropped it)
New Orleans had overcome an early 14-3 deficit to take a 31-28 lead in Nashville. However, a fourth-and-7 at the Titans’ 38-yard line threatened to hand the ball back to Tennessee with a little more than four minutes remaining for a potential game-winning drive.
Head coach Sean Peyton had other plans. Instead of a punt, he had the ball snapped to upman/third-string quarterback Taysom Hill. Hill rolled to his left and delivered a perfect pass to defensive back Justin Hardee just over the first-down line.
And Hardee showed us all why he plays defense, not offense:
Justin Hardee is gonna be sick about this one pic.twitter.com/1CLkhlwBy9
— Christian D'Andrea (@TrainIsland) December 22, 2019
That gave the Titans the ball close to midfield, but Tennessee couldn’t capitalize. Khalif Raymond fumbled the ball back to the Saints the very next play after taking a hit that probably should have been flagged for unnecessary roughness for contact with a ballcarrier’s head.
6. Mike Vrabel challenged a play he had no chance of winning
Logan Ryan made a great play to break up Drew Brees’ pass to Michael Thomas early in the third quarter of his game against the Saints. It just wasn’t as good as Vrabel thought.
Ryan knocked the ball from Thomas’ hands, leaving the ball bobbling in the air as the two players jousted for position before it fell to the turf. Officials correctly ruled the play an incompletion, but that wasn’t good enough for Vrabel.
hours later and i'm still trying to figure out why Mike Vrabel challenged this incomplete pass ruling pic.twitter.com/d514cFxmV8
— Christian D'Andrea (@TrainIsland) December 23, 2019
The replay left no doubt about the outcome of the play. The officials had gotten it right; there was no chance it could be a fumble or an interception — it wasn’t even close. All Vrabel had done was burn a timeout and a challenge while gifting New Orleans a free timeout before facing third-and-12. The Saints converted that long third down en route to a 70-yard touchdown drive and a 24-14 lead.
5. Baker Mayfield nearly got his running back killed
During the Browns’ 31-15 loss to the Ravens on Sunday, Mayfield threw a late pass to Dontrell Hilliard that caused his running back to get absolutely lit up when he made the catch. Ravens cornerback Marcus Peters was screaming toward Hilliard when Mayfield threw this ball:
Baker Mayfield just set Dontrell Hilliard up with an ambulance pass pic.twitter.com/ivqzMxTgWD
— Christian D'Andrea (@TrainIsland) December 22, 2019
Right after the play, Hilliard left the game with a knee injury and did not return.
There’s a lot that’s gone wrong for the Browns this season — this is just another one to add to the list.
4. Mitchell Trubisky threw a 3-yard pass on fourth-and-23
The Bears didn’t have much of a shot trailing the Chiefs by 20 points with less than eight minutes to play Sunday night. That doesn’t mean Trubisky shouldn’t at least have tried to pick up fourth-and-really-long.
Mitchell Trubisky really threw a three-yard checkdown to his tight end on 4th-and-23 pic.twitter.com/bYEOYgv6wl
— Christian D'Andrea (@TrainIsland) December 23, 2019
Jay Cutler is the Bears quarterback that gets crap for never caring, but this was a “f—- it” moment that may eclipse all others in Chicago.
3. The refs gave Odell Beckham a 15-yard penalty for waving at the Ravens’ sideline
The Browns took an early lead against the AFC-leading Ravens thanks to Baker Mayfield’s revitalized passing game. Beckham played a role in that surprising start — but his 22-yard catch in the first quarter was turned into a 7-yard net because ... uh, he, waved at some Baltimore players?
this was a 15-yard penalty for Odell Beckham, somehow pic.twitter.com/YtDXV8rfA9
— Christian D'Andrea (@TrainIsland) December 22, 2019
C’mon, refs.
The flag was Beckham’s first unsportsmanlike conduct penalty of the day, which also meant another flag for excessive friendliness could’ve forced him out of the game — a point that apparently led to a heated exchange between Beckham and Freddie Kitchens.
2. Panthers DT Vernon Butler punched a player — the wrong one, at that
Butler managed to make two dumb mistakes in one play. First and foremost, he punched someone. Not only is it an easy way to injure your hand, but Butler also got an ejection for doing it.
The second mistake what that his game-ending tantrum was directed at the wrong player. He punched Colts tight end Jack Doyle for zero reason.
Vernon Butler ejected for punching Jack Doyle #Colts #KeepPounding pic.twitter.com/cCr7eJ7Pyh
— Roto Street Journal (@RotoStJournal) December 22, 2019
The only explanation for the right cross delivered to Doyle’s face is that Butler got the tight end confused with the offensive lineman he was tussling with seconds earlier.
Butler was the Panthers’ first-round pick in 2016, but he has barely cracked the starting lineup in four seasons. His time in Carolina was already coming to an end and his lack of composure in Week 16 isn’t going to do him any favors when he’s hunting for a new team.
1. The Cowboys really took their top WR out with the season on the line
All the Cowboys needed to do was beat the Eagles, and they’d be in the playoffs. Similarly, all the Eagles had to do was beat the Cowboys and they’d be in control of the NFC East.
Despite the Eagles leading all game, the Cowboys still had a chance to win late. Then came the iffy decision-making that we’re used to from Jason Garrett.
Trailing 17-9 (one score) in the fourth quarter, Dallas faced a fourth-and-8. Instead of Amari Cooper, a 1,000-yard receiver and Dak Prescott’s favorite target, lining up for what would ultimately become Dallas’ final offensive snap of the game, he was ... on the sideline.
In his place was Tavon Austin, who has 12 catches on the season, because:
A #Cowboys source disputes the notion WR Amari Cooper was benched. Instead they wanted to give Tavon Austin a shot at the DBs because Eagles having hard time w smaller quick guys. They got in hurry up mode so they had to wait to put Cooper back in. “Rotation change, not bench.”
— Jane Slater (@SlaterNFL) December 23, 2019
On the fourth-down play — with another veteran receiver, Randall Cobb, on the bench as well — Prescott threw a fade to Michael Gallup:
Fourth down and eight to go, Dak throws deep to Gallup and Sidney Jones tips the ball away! pic.twitter.com/W8R9SrUMr2
— DIE-HARD Fans (@Eaglesfans9) December 23, 2019
And that was it for the Cowboys in Week 16 — and probably the season.
It feels silly to keep your rotation going with the entire season on the line, no? Cooper should never have left the field. Nobody can say for sure that Cooper would have made a huge play that would have saved Dallas’ season. After all, he and Prescott failed to find a rhythm all day, connecting on just four of 12 targets.
But to not even get the opportunity is just downright negligent.
Cooper later insinuated that the coaches didn’t know what they were doing (accurate):
Amari Cooper seemed to question the coaching staff for his ineffectiveness. When I asked his explanation, Cooper talked about all the short routes he ran and then said, “I feel like the go ball was a good route to run tonight and we didn’t really get to it.’’
— Ed Werder (@WerderEdESPN) December 23, 2019
That’s how a team with elite talent, one of the most efficient offenses, and a +82 point differential ends up 7-8, with its playoff hopes resting on the Giants pulling an upset.
Perhaps the NFC East crown simply pulled a John McClane and decided, “But, all things being equal, I’d rather be in Philadelphia.”

Epic Movie (Re)Watch #180 - Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed
Spoilers below.
Have I seen it before: Yes
Did I like it then: Yes.
Do I remember it: Yes.
Did I see it in theaters: Yes.
Was it a movie I saw since August 22nd, 2009: No.
Format: DVD
1) So with the first film writer James Gunn had written a darker script meant to poke fun at the original series and gain a PG-13 rating, but after the cast signed on this was changed into a family friendly film. With the sequel, writer Gunn returns and this time everyone knew what kind of movie they were going to make from the beginning (which relates to some more solid structure in this film than the last).
2) Scooby-Doo Theory holds that whoever the protagonists talks to first is the person who did it. The first person they talk to in this film is Alicia Silverstone’s Heather Jasper Howe who ends up being the bad guy.
3) Okay, Coolsville opens up a museum exhibit about Mystery Inc. and their past foes. It is said that the gang, “donated,” the costumes. But…why are the costumes their’s to donate? Aren’t they police evidence? Do they steal the costumes from every crime as some sort of weird trophy and stash them all in a storage locker somewhere? Am I overthinking this? Let’s move on.
4) What the heck!? Seth Green is in this movie!?
5) Linda Cardellini continues to be absolutely excellent as Velma Dinkley, but one side we get to see in this film that we didn’t in the first is lovesick puppy Velma. Her crush on Seth Green’s Patrick is portrayed as cute, sweet, honest, and is just enjoyable to watch. I think Cardellini is great in both of these films and gets an even greater chance to shine in this one.
6) I always liked The Evil Masked Figure in this film.
I think it’s purely a taste of aesthetics. I like the metallic head, the hair, the cloak. He’s not really a character so much as a plot device and he does pale in comparison to the classic monsters which populate the film, but I just dig the design.
7) I think the early action set piece of Shaggy and Scooby getting pulled around the museum by the Pterodactyl Ghost is a little stagey. It FEELS like they’re on a film set as opposed to even the fun of the cartoon chases. But that just may be me.
8) What the fanboy in me loves about this film is the way it brings in all the classic monsters from the old cartoons. James Gunn is a fan himself and it shows because - much like he is able to fill up Guardians of the Galaxy with notable characters, references, and alien species - he brings in a lot of A-list villains from the show. The Black Knight Ghost and the 10,000 Volt Ghost in particular were always favorites of mine and it is REMARKABLY fun to see them, the Tar Monster, the Zombie, Captain Cutler’s Ghost, and The Miner 49-er brought to live action (among others).
9) Okay, so Heather Jasper Howe’s reporting is 100% slander and illegal. She is taking everything Mystery Inc. says out of context to make them appear bad in the public light. Yes, she’s the villain, this is part of the plan. But unless you’re working for an obviously biased news source like Fox News you would not be allowed to get away with this. Still, when I start to question the realism of a Scooby-Doo movies the whole thing falls apart.
10) The primary conflict for Scooby and Shaggy in this film is them questioning their worth/value to the team. This makes for surprisingly interesting character conflict and an equally surprising emotional arc for the film. I like it!
11) According to IMDb:
The original Scooby-Doo episode dealing with the pterodactyl ghost featured a villain and motive that were quite different. The pterodactyl/hang glider costume was used to smuggle pirated music, with the small-town mayor behind the whole scheme.
12) I cannot begin to express how funny my tiny eight year old self found this joke.
Shaggy [after the gang goes through all their notes, which Scooby has been jotting down]: “Scooby-Doo, what’s your conclusion?”
Scooby: “Bunny!”
13) I have a feeling this film had a product placement agreement with Burger King. Scooby was drinking from a Burger King cup earlier and then this:
14) I may have watched The Mummy too many times.
Fred: “What could possibly happen by ringing a doorbell?”
15) So Shaggy messes with a record player and “Baby Got Back” starts playing. Which begs the question: WHO ON EARTH HAS A VINYL OF “Baby Got Back”!?
16) According to IMDb:
At one point in the film, Scooby and Shaggy are pretending to sing into a toilet brush "microphone". The song they are actually singing is Strangers in the Night - Frank Sinatra's version featured the improvised scat lyrics, "Scoo-bee-doo-bee-doo", lyrics which then-CBS executive Fred Silverman chose as the name of the new cartoon series. The original name for the dog was "Too Much", a popular catchphrase of the era.
17) The entire Black Knight Ghost chase through the mansion is very cartoonish, which I mean as a compliment. It feels like it is ripped straight out of an old episode of the cartoon, speaking again to the great way James Gunn handles the source material.
18) Why is Daphne wearing a shirt with her own face on it?
19) Again: this made me laugh so hard as an eight year old.
Black Knight [after Velma kicks him in the nuts]: “Right in the round tables!”
20) This film was released in 2004, can you tell?
Fred: “…this mystery goes down like a dot com and Coolsville digs us again!”
21) I ship Velma and Daphne. I have a feeling so does James Gunn.
(Screenshot taken of a GIF originally posted by @ezekiels)
22) Linda Cardellini gets to be exceptionally funny in this film for one BIG reason:
Patrick: “Do you have to go to the bathroom?”
Velma: “No, I can’t in this outfit.”
23) The Faux Ghost.
This is a wonderful concept featured in the film which once again shows off just how deeply familiar writer James Gunn is with the source material. Just the idea that a bar for all the people Mystery Inc caught exists is wonderfully fun. The art design and characters all stand out in a wonderfully fun scene.
24) Whoa, this is pretty deep for Scooby-Doo 2.
Old Man Wickles [about being a masked villain]: “We needed people to believe we were different than we were. Maybe because we believed there was something wrong with who were in the first place.”
This also means the song which plays in the club - “Thank You For Letting Me By Myself” - has much more meaning than one might initially expect.
25) This line was improvised.
Velma [after she lets out a squeak]: “That was my outfit, I swear.”
26) It’s kinda fun seeing Seth Green go into psychotic badass mode on this goon. My primary experience with him is through “Buffy” where he mostly plays his character as emotionally controlled. This is a fun change from that. Also, Shaggy gets in a sick burn because of it.
Shaggy [after seeing Patrick act a little crazy]: “But we gotta make like your personality and split!”
27) What even is this movie!?
Old Man Wickles [after Scooby gives away his position hiding in a bush]: “Darn bushes toweling at me again.”
AGAIN!?
28) Ah, the potion gag.
youtube
So there was a lot of work trying to figure out exactly what gags to use. At one point, Scooby was going to turn into his hand drawn counterpart as a replacement to a much less favored gag of Scooby turning into George W. Bush. The filmmakers didn’t want to compare 3D Scooby with 2D Scooby so they had him turn into the Tasmanian Devil instead. It’s kinda random and pointless, but not unenjoyable. It’s kinda fun to watch, it just has nothing to do with the rest of the plot.
29) In this moment, I am Shaggy.
Shaggy: “We’re gonna die!”
Daphne: “Think positive!”
Shaggy: “We’re gonna die quickly!”
30) Okay hold on a second: the monsters share the same hatred of Mystery Inc. that their portrayers had? But why? They’re not the same people are they? Do they have the memories of their human counterparts? Are they the vision of the criminals who portrayed them fully realized?
31) The old high school clubhouse scene is a surprisingly poignant moment of vulnerability and character interaction for Mystery Inc. The flashback - even though it’s a little cringe worthy seeing the young Mystery Inc (with their awkward imitations of the main cast and weirdly dubbed over voices from the main actors) - allows for us to understand the core of their relationship. In a lot of ways, this is the beating heart of the film. Mystery Inc and the friendship they have with each other.
32) Again: I am Shaggy.
Shaggy [while being chased]: “This is tied for the most terrifying day of my life!”
Velma: “Tied with what?”
Shaggy: “EVERY OTHER FREAKING DAY OF MY LIFE!”
33) HOW DID THE BLACK KNIGHT GET A GHOST HORSE!? Wouldn’t they need a horse costume to do that?
34) Ah, Buffy speak used by a “Buffy” actor.
Daphne: “Taste the pain Mr. Glowy Ugly Thing!”
35) I love this.
Velma [after Shaggy and Scooby say they’re trying to be more like the gang]: “That’s funny. I always wanted to be like you guys.”
This speaks greatly to just how freaking important Shaggy and Scooby are to the group. They’re the beating heart, it’s called Scooby-Doo for a reason. And the fact that Velma is able to so honestly and believably say she wants to be like Shaggy and Scooby is a surprisingly touching moment in the film.
36) It only took Velma 45 years to admit this.
Velma [after her glasses fall off]: “I’ve got to consider contact lenses.”
37) According to IMDb:
The Cotton Candy Glob is a tribute to the Cotton Candy Monsters who appeared in the story "Goop on the Loose" in the Scooby-Doo comics published by DC Comics, where the culprits were a child and two henchmen trying to get revenge from being fired from a carnival. The Cotton Candy Monsters were mentioned in A Pup Named Scooby-Doo: Terror, Thy Name Is Zombo (1989).
38) I JUST got that the game of keep away they play with the monster making control panel reflects the game of frisbee we saw them playing in the flashback.
(GIF originally posted by @leaveatraill)
39) Tar Monster seems like he has a ridiculous amount of power. Like he can single handedly nearly kill ALL of Mystery Inc. Why not just release the Tar Monster on the world? I feel like THAT’D be a better plan!
40) The Evil Masked Figure is unmasked and revealed to be Heather Jasper Howe. But her hair and makeup are perfect. Shouldn’t she have - like - helmet hair or something?
41) Scooby running to Shaggy like they haven’t seen each other in ages is totally unearned. Shaggy just put on a mask and took it off and Scooby acts all excited! But, it’s still kinda nice.
42) What the heck? This film has a secret mini movie!?
youtube
A commercial!?
Much like the first Scooby Doo film, Monsters Unleashed is hardly a cinematic masterpiece but the kid in my absolutely loves it. The characterization is continually strong (as is the acting), it’s a lot of fun to see the old monsters in a live action format, and it’s just an enjoyable 90ish minutes. There are movies which have aged worse so if you have fond memories of this or are a fan of the Scooby-Doo franchise, give it a watch.

2017 Week 5 Recap
Fuck Mike Pence so much. He flew out to Indiana just to throw a fit about players kneeling for the anthem. Go to hell. Ugh. And on top of that Jerry Jones, after looking like the world’s least comfortable Scrooge McDuck at the Cowboys’ pre-anthem protest last week, now says players who kneel should be cut. It’s so bad Roger Goodell had to send a memo to the owners telling them to cool it. I hope all the Cowboys kneel and the Pence and Jerry die in the same fire. And did you see the statue of Payton anyway? It doesn’t look like him, and it is also too soon. Let him at least have time to decide to GM the Titans before you do that, now you might have a statue of a division rival’s GM outside your stadium! Idiots. Oh and the Dolphins’ o-line coach resigned in disgrace after a video surfaced of him snorting cocaine before a team meeting, so next time someone complains about players kneeling during the anthem, that could provide some perspective.
Also, YA Tittle died, so that sucks too.
Teams that need Kaepernick: TEN, MIA, CLE, SF, NYJ, BAL, OAK IND, JAX, MIN, NYG, ARI, PIT
Hot seats: Ben McAdoo, John Fox, Hue Jackson, Marvin Lewis, Chuck Pagano, Todd Bowles, Bruce Arians
Teams on Bye: ATL, WSH, DEN, NO
NE 19 - 14 TB [W] Game ball: Stephen Gostkowski If the Patriots can’t give a good Thursday performance then who can? This is not how this game should have ended but Nick Folk’s errant kicking turned this from a 23-19 upset into an ugly loss from a team that just barely outuglied the defending champs.
BUF 16 - 20 CIN [W] Game ball: AJ Green Solid performance all around from the Bengals, who are now only a game back in a division of klutzes. Making the switch to Bill Lazor at offensive coordinator seems to have been the right move, as Cincy’s new schemes give Andy Dalton a little more time to think before he throws. The Bills shouldn’t get too down, but the passing attack was lackluster without Jordan Matthews.
CAR 27 - 24 DET [L] Game ball: Cam Newton An impressive and important victory. Cam played with poise and very few mistakes, earning a crucial tie-breaker over Detroit. Don’t think that gets him off the hook for what he said about it being weird for a woman to talk routes, though. If he thinks that’s weird, he would be astounded by how much women know about sports but don’t say because men won’t shut the fuck up. Please educate yourself on how women have impacted your sport’s growth and culture, because I promise you it’s more than you think.
LAC 27 - 22 NYG [W] Game ball: Melvin Gordon Like I said, someone had to lose. Makes sense that it’s the team that lost 4 WRs on the same day. OBJ and Brandon Marshall are both out for the season, so a 0-5 with nothing in the cupboard, the G-men are done. Stick a fork in them. It’s just not happening. The Chargers aren’t a whole lot better off, but after 4 weeks of actually competing I bet it’s nice for it to finally end in a victory.
SF 23 - 26 IND OT [W] Game ball: Adam Vinatieri Both the Niners and the Colts played extra periods last week as well, meaning at this point each squad has gone 10 quarters of pro football in the last 8 calendar days. That’s absurd. Any win with Jacoby Brissett at the helm is a gift for the Colts. Every week without a win is a nightmare I’m sure for John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan. Here’s an idea: employ a QB other than Brian Hoyer! Maybe one whose name rhymes with Schmollin Schmappernick.
NYJ 17 - 14 CLE [W] Game ball: Marcus Maye In a bizarre twist, the Browns actually controlled much of this game. They had two red zone turnovers in the first half that completely squandered their dominance. They brought in Kevin Hogan for the second half, leaving the week 6 start up in the air. Myles Garrett got a sack on his first snap, which is pretty awesome. Probably not a coincidence that the Browns defense has never looked better this season.
ARI 7 - 34 PHI [W] Game ball: Carson Wentz Not much of a battle of the Carsons, more like one Carson just sending the other’s team through a shredder. Total domination by the Eagles, and now the Cardinals have Adrian Peterson to save the day, because nothing says Arizona like a bunch of rich guys who are about to retire.
JAX 30 - 9 PIT [L] Game ball: Leonard Fournette Yesssss, bury him! Ben Roethlisberger threw 5 INTERCEPTIONS and no touchdowns! You know who else has done that this century? Ryan Fitzpatrick AND NOBODY ELSE! Dude, he is going to just straight up give up in the middle of a game this year and he and Jay Cutler are gonna just get appointed to Trump’s cabinet and stop giving a fuck about anything. Oh and BTW the team he threw those picks to legitimately did well. They just ran the ball a gajillion times so that Bortles couldn’t Bortles up their chances. I mean if you told me before this game that a QB would throw 5 picks I wouldn’t be surprised, but I also would have been really excited to have the Steelers defense on fantasy because I would assume they were doing the picking.
TEN 10 - 16 MIA [W] Game ball: Kiko Alonso Another game that nobody should have won. Matt Cassell isn’t doing it for anyone, and neither is Cutler. It is time to move on. It’s nice for Miami to get a win but they had playoff aspirations before the season that seem pretty far-fetched at this point.
BAL 30 - 17 OAK [L] Game ball: Mike Wallace It’s a little hard to analyze this game because the Raiders fell behind so early. It would be unreasonable to expect EJ Manuel to dig out of that hole. This is the Baltimore we saw in the first two weeks, it must be nice for them to now that still exists.
SEA 16 - 10 LAR [W] Game ball: Sheldon Richardson It was a close one but the Seahawks are now leading the division. Neither team looked even close to good on offense, though the Seahawks have to be happy that Jimmy Graham has been effective two weeks in a row.
GB 35 - 31 DAL [W] Game ball: Aaron Rodgers Oh man, this is what happens! Aaron freakin Rodgers! What do you even do? You score to go up 3 with just over a minute left, if you’re playing any of 30 teams in the league you’re thinking you probably are winning or going to overtime. But against the Patriots or Packers, you just resign yourself to seeing football magic kill your game. Ridiculous. I said the Packers run game might end up better now than it was with Ty Montgomery, and, well, Im not sure it hasn’t...
KC 42 - 34 HOU [W] Game ball: Tyreek Hill The fact that this game was in reach in the 4th quarter before Hill took a punt to the house is quite the testament to DeShaun Watson and how he has changed the offense around him. It’s really incredible. But that might not be enough to overcome the loss of JJ Watt and Whitney Merciless. That is fucking tragic.
MIN 20 - 17 CHI [L] Game ball: Jerrick McKinnon I was so damn close. And then Mitch Trubisky goes and throws a pick. Great, thanks Mitch. Mitchington. Mitcherino.

FANTASY CORNER
Danger Squirrels 125 - 140 Schneiders List [L, 2-3]
Goddamnit. I prepared so well to be covered during my bye weeks and then Mariota and Montgomery went and got hurt. I dropped Mariota for Tyrod Taylor and I guess I chose wrong because it was not enough. Props to Melvin Gordon for trying to get me the win, and a big fuck you to the Steelers defense. And I technically wasn’t rooting for this because Go Seahawks but imagine what could have been if Cooper Kupp caught that TD in the last seconds? Siemian the Finals 150.29 - 171.75 Decatur Fist [L, 3-2]
I shoulda started Torrey Smith. I knew I should have, too. I just couldn’t get all the drops I’ve seen him make this season out of my head! The one time Jimmy Graham is worth a damn, and I get nothing out of Antonio Gates. I cannot believe Ed Dickson scored 22.5 points, that’s just cheating.

Kanye West Is Moving to Chicago! Is This the Home He Just Bought?
Gonzalo Marroquin/Patrick McMullan via Getty Images
Kanye West has a well-documented love for the city where he grew up: Chicago. He’s written countless lyrics and songs about his experiences in his hometown. Heck, he even named his third child after the Windy City!
And after over 20 years, West is finally coming home. The rapper made the announcement at an event on Monday.
“I gotta let y’all know that I’m moving back to Chicago,” West said to the crowd. “I’m never leaving again.”
West’s wife, Kim Kardashian West, has yet to comment on the move, but he has already picked out a home for his family in Chicago, according to TMZ. However, some sources cast doubt on the idea that the West clan will live in Chicago full time. The couple will keep their famous Los Angeles estate and other SoCal properties. (After all, they can’t abandon that backyard pool the size of a lake.)
So we had to ask, where are West’s new Chi-Town digs? While he hasn’t revealed the answer yet, we decided to dig around in our listings for recently sold homes in Chicago that could be his new pad, since they all suit his expensive tastes and notoriously ultrapicky aesthetic. Here’s where we’d wager West may end up next.
1950 N Burling St, Chicago, IL
The West family would have plenty of space in this Lincoln Park home.
realtor.com
Sold for: $11,900,000
There’s a good chance West will want to be near the city center, and this is as close as it comfortably gets. Located in the heart of Lincoln Park, this brick home is only 15 minutes from downtown.
The 8,000-square-foot property has six bedrooms, including the master bedroom with a sitting room. Along with a family-size great room and a high-end kitchen, the home boasts white marble countertops and large walk-in closets (maybe even big enough for Kardashian West’s shoe collection).
And the cherry on top? It’s within walking distance of the Lincoln Park Zoo—a perfect play spot for West’s three children.
2124 W Pierce Ave, Chicago, IL
We can totally see the West family living in this historic home.
realtor.com
Sold for: $2,737,500
West is a known fan of art and history, and this house brings both into play. Built in 1874, it received a complete internal renovation in 2009 and a colorful cosmetic upgrade in 2018. The renovations also included an updated attic with an additional bedroom, a wet bar, and a 1,000-bottle wine cellar.
The four-bedroom, five-bathroom home features high windows and skylights to flood the space with plenty of sunlight, a major upside if West misses the California heat.
1601 Conway Rd, Lake Forest, IL
West could find some much-needed privacy on this suburban estate.
realtor.com
Sold for: $3,200,000
Another historic pick for West is this 28-acre estate 30 miles north of the city. Called Topsfield Farm, the six-bedroom, seven-bathroom property was once a stagecoach shop and offers two pools, a tennis court, and, most importantly, privacy.
While the interior is not exactly West’s beloved neobrutalist look, we have a feeling he can use his design and architecture skills to renovate this home into something more modern.
925 Pine Tree Ln, Winnetka, IL
Kim and Kanye could get used to suburban life in this home.
realtor.com
Sold for: $2,710,000
Welcome to the burbs! Built only four years ago, this home is in the same Windy City suburb where another reality TV couple, Jay Cutler and Kristin Cavallari, once resided. The three-story property has seven bedrooms, six bathrooms, a two-story foyer with marble flooring, and a patio.
Plus, there’s a fenced backyard big enough to host family get-togethers. And who knows, maybe the crew for “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” will actually be allowed to set foot inside.
260 E Randolph St, Chicago, IL
West could use this space as a home or an office.
realtor.com
Sold for: $80,672,000
This one’s a real long shot, but hear us out: An unknown number of units in this 55-story building were recently purchased for a huge chunk of change, and we’ll take a stab that West might be involved.
Why? Because according to his Twitter page, West is planning to open a new Yeezy office in Chicago, and this building is located in The Loop downtown, a professional and easily accessible neighborhood. So, perhaps this is where his new offices will be … or perhaps he’s building his own penthouse in the sky here … or perhaps it’s both an office and a home. We’d wager there’s room for everyone in there!

NEVER DIE. NEVER WIN.

11 winners from Week 7 of the NFL season
Photo by Otto Greule Jr/Getty Images
The Baltimore defense is back ... at least for one week.
Week 7 of the 2019 season didn’t change much at the top or bottom of the NFL. The Dolphins and Bengals, despite flashes of competence, remained winless. The 49ers overcame a downpour to outlast Washington and stay undefeated, while the Patriots are 9.5-point favorites in their Monday night matchup against the Jets.
The creamy middle of the league, however, remains tumultuous. The Colts climbed to the top of the AFC South by beating the Texans. The Chiefs offered both the Raiders and Chargers a shot at their spot atop the AFC West following Patrick Mahomes’ knee injury, only for both to fall short on Sunday. The Saints embarrassed the Bears’ offense in a game that, somehow, made Chicago pine for the good ol’ days of Jay Cutler.
So who won the week after an action packed Sunday? Winners, as always, aren’t just for those who finished the game with more points than the other guys. True victory can escape the boundaries of box scores, just like it did for a handful of talented teams and players this Sunday.
It wasn’t: the Bengals, who are probably done with Andy Dalton once 2019 is over
Dalton was put in a tough space in 2019. His Bengals spent the offseason chasing away Marvin Lewis (which is good!) and then chasing down underwhelming free agents who didn’t make the team better in any appreciable way (which is bad). Ankle surgery has kept A.J. Green out for the first half of the season, while John Ross’ third year breakout was abruptly cut short by a broken collarbone in Week 4.
Dalton responded by turning players like Auden Tate and Alex Erickson into 100+ yard receiving threats. And by throwing interceptions. Especially on Sunday.
Yannick Ngakoue’s pick-six was just one of three Dalton turnovers that helped turn a fourth-quarter lead into Cincinnati’s 14th loss in its last 15 games. The QB’s TD:INT ratio is now stuck at an even 8:8. On the plus side, he was his team’s leading rusher in Week 7 by a long shot.
Ew. The Bengals are very, very sad this year. The good news is they’re trending toward a premier draft slot next spring — and they can release Dalton in 2020 without any dead money remaining on their salary cap. You know, if that’s their thing.
Now, on to...
This week’s actual winners
11. The Dolphins, who are trying very hard
It’s not about actual wins in Miami — the Dolphins are best served in 2019 by becoming the league’s third-ever 0-16 team and clearing their path to the top of the 2020 NFL Draft. Instead, this fall is about moral victories for the game’s most hopeless team. To wit:
TOUCHDOWN MIAMI DOLPHINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FITZPATRICK TO PARKER!!!!!!!!!!! DOLPHINS HAVE TWO LEADS IN ONE GAME!!!!!!!!!!!
— The Phinsider (@thephinsider) October 20, 2019
This was the first time in 2019 that Miami had regained a lead. The Dolphins led for 26:44 of game time Sunday, nearly seven times longer than the amount of time they’d led through the previous six weeks of the season (3:46, all against the Chargers in Week 4). That’s ... something. Right?
10. Pat O’Donnell, whose ability to understand how screwed he was saved the Bears five points
Pat O’Donnell was in the middle of a disastrous play when the ball rolled toward him in the end zone. The Bears’ punter had just been exploded by the Saints’ special teams, who blocked his kick and sent it bouncing toward the back line. O’Donnell had a chance to dive on the ball for the recovery, but was surrounded by rabid New Orleans defenders. Any miss would turn the play into an almost-certain touchdown for the Saints.
So rather than trust his hands, O’Donnell scooped the ball out of the end zone and ceded two points instead of risking seven.
it's technically an illegal bat from Pat O'Donnell here, but the result is the same -- safety for the Saints. smart play from the Bears' punter, who was totally screwed either way pic.twitter.com/B5y1SDHbKZ
— Christian D'Andrea (@TrainIsland) October 20, 2019
The play was flagged as an illegal bat, but that ruling didn’t change the outcome. New Orleans got its safety, but couldn’t do anything on the ensuing possession, effectively making O’Donnell’s quick thinking worth five points. Without that effort, Chicago would have lost by 16 instead of just 11!
9. Jalen Ramsey, whose cure for a sore back was escaping football purgatory
Ramsey hadn’t played in what turned out to be his final three weeks with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The All-Pro cornerback, locked in an impasse with Jags ownership over a trade request, missed games due to the birth of his child and then a lingering back injury.
Now he’s a Ram. And his back? Miraculously healed.
He made his Los Angeles debut in Week 7, recording four tackles and providing lockdown coverage for a team in desperate need of aerial defense. Los Angeles held former NFL MVP Matt Ryan to just 5.9 yards per pass and a 60.6 passer rating before the veteran was forced out of the game with an ankle injury.
He also showed off his tackling chops by getting his shoulder directly on the ball to force a Devonta Freeman fumble.
Jalen Ramsey already making plays as a Rampic.twitter.com/0ZRWQR47Gz
— Dov Kleiman (@NFL_DovKleiman) October 20, 2019
That was a massive win for a Rams team that had allowed 290 passing yards per game in its three-week losing streak, but there’s still room for Ramsey to wind up disappointed on the West Coast. If he’s not the missing piece LA needs to turn the franchise into a Super Bowl champion, the Rams don’t have many more assets left to add a proven playmaker to the lineup.
8. Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, who got his groove back
For three games, Moore looked like the offensive mind capable of supercharging the Cowboys and turning Dak Prescott into an elite quarterback. Dallas got off to a 3-0 start while averaging 32.3 points per game as Prescott, Amari Cooper, and Ezekiel Elliott carved up some of the NFL’s worst defenses.
That momentum screeched to a halt in Week 4, as America’s Team (tm) skidded to a three-game losing streak in which they only scored 56 total points while getting beat by the Teddy Bridgewater-led Saints (respectable), Packers (reasonable), and Jets (uhhhhhh). This was very concerning and it threw Moore and head coach Jason Garrett’s futures in Texas very much into question.
Fortunately for them, a showdown with the defensive back-deficient Eagles was all they needed to get the offense clicking again. A freewheeling Prescott exploited weaknesses across the Philly secondary and a creative rushing attack averaged 5.3 yards per carry en route to a too-easy 37-10 win over the Eagles.
Moore even found a way to get Tavon Austin his first touchdown of 2019 via third-down trickery:
TAY ALL DAY! @Tayaustin01 gets the TD for the #DallasCowboys #PHIvsDAL pic.twitter.com/HUVuVFYIcK
— Dallas Cowboys (@dallascowboys) October 21, 2019
The Cowboys’ defense played a major role in the Sunday night win — they sacked Carson Wentz three times and forced four turnovers — but the headline for Dallas’ slump-buster was an offense that suddenly looked exciting and dynamic again.
7. Johnny Hekker, whose QB rating is now 106.4
Hekker may be the Rams’ second-best quarterback. This is impressive, because Hekker is a punter.
Johnny Hekker w/ the 1st down pass! (via @thecheckdown)pic.twitter.com/VEBYWpkvkG
— PFF (@PFF) October 20, 2019
Hekker completed his 12th NFL pass in 20 tries by hitting Nick Scott for a 23-yard gain in the second quarter of a game against the Falcons. He’s averaged a shade under nine yards per pass as a pro. Blake Bortles, the team’s current No. 2 QB, has a career 6.7 yards-per-pass rate.
That doesn’t mean Hekker’s the better backup quarterback, of course. Just that he has the best arm of any punter out there — at least until we get to see whether or not Jamie Gillan can uncork a 30-yard rugby pass downfield at some point this fall.
6. Ryan Tannehill, the franchise quarterback the Titans had been waiting for all along
Tennessee struggled through six weeks of the 2019 season before making a change; free-agent-to-be Marcus Mariota was out as starting quarterback. Free-agent-to-be Ryan Tannehill was in.
The former Dolphin, mercifully traded before the team’s tanking effort, landed in Nashville as a high-value backup behind a quarterback who hasn’t played a full 16-game schedule in his NFL career. That presented a massive opportunity for Tannehill to rebuild his value as a passer, and when Mariota’s mediocrity yanked him out of the lineup, the Miami castoff came through.
Corey Davis catching dimes from @ryantannehill1 pic.twitter.com/IBmsK5FbAY
— Tennessee Titans (@Titans) October 20, 2019
Tannehill threw for 312 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception as his Titans held off the Chargers to improve to 3-4 on the season. It was his first 300+ yard performance since September 2016.
His emergence also served as the rising tide that lifted the fortunes of some of the team’s most promising young targets. Corey Davis, Jonnu Smith, and A.J. Brown combined for 15 catches on 18 targets, springing for 208 yards and a touchdown in the process.
5. Darius Leonard, who cancelled the Texans’ comeback effort
Deshaun Watson is a bad, bad man. The MVP candidate quarterback is capable of covering massive swaths of turf in very little time thanks to his ability to extend plays in the pocket and then launch passes to a wide array of deep threats downfield.
So even though the Colts led Houston 30-23 with 26 seconds to play, there was still a good chance the Texans could find a way to tie or win this game before the end of regulation. That’s where Darius Leonard came in.
that's one hell of an INT, Darius Leonard pic.twitter.com/llewR0slUs
— Christian D'Andrea (@TrainIsland) October 20, 2019
Leonard, the reigning NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, put together an absurd display of athleticism and concentration to snuff out Houston’s comeback hopes and make a diving save on a pass thrown just slightly behind second-year wideout Keke Coutee.
At 4-2, Indianapolis currently stands alone atop the AFC South. Leonard, who returned in Week 7 after missing the previous three games with a concussion, led all players with 10 tackles. Although the Colts proved they can win without him, this defense reaches an extra gear with its do-everything stalwart calling out orders in the middle of the field.
4. The NFC West, the only division in the football world where no one has a losing record
The Cardinals won three games in all of 2018. Through seven weeks, they’ve already matched that.
Arizona improved to 3-3-1 by grinding Daniel Jones down to a paste, sacking him eight times in a 27-21 win in New Jersey. While top overall pick Kyler Murray put together a mediocre stat line (104 passing yards, no touchdowns or interceptions), tailback Chase Edmonds proved capable of giving his team a spark. The former Fordham Ram matched his all-time NFL total by rushing for three touchdowns and a career-high 126 yards while keeping the Cards’ afloat.
That's the hat trick for @ChaseEdmonds22 pic.twitter.com/59u7E2FFss
— Arizona Cardinals ⋈ (@AZCardinals) October 20, 2019
With that win, all four of the NFC West’s teams now sit at .500 or better. The Cardinals, undefeated 49ers, and Rams all won Sunday. Only the Seahawks, who lost to old friend Earl Thomas and the Ravens, tasted defeat. With surprises across the board, the West has developed into the NFL’s most competitive division.
3. Raiders-Packers, which was packed with great highlights both good and bad
The football gods deprived us of what could be the only Patrick Mahomes-Aaron Rodgers regular season showdown we’d ever get when Mahomes dislocated his kneecap Thursday night. And then, like the WWE trying to appease fans after pulling a star from an indy booking, they sent a surprisingly solid replacement to fill that void.
Derek Carr had one of the finest games of his career (with a few exceptions, which we’ll get to later) as he and Rodgers put together a passing clinic. From the 6:01 mark in the first quarter to 1:01 remaining in the second, neither Carr nor Rodgers threw an incompletion — and that was a perfect pass that caromed off Packer wideout Allen Lazard’s chest.
Not 40 seconds later, Rodgers put on a masterclass in looking off safety help to hit Jake Kumerow (the pride of Wisconsin-Whitewater!) for the second touchdown of his NFL career.
JAKE KUMEROW CONTENT@UWWhitewater pic.twitter.com/kxokSrsByW
— Christian D'Andrea (@TrainIsland) October 20, 2019
Rodgers finished his day with 429 passing yards, five touchdowns, and a perfect 158.3 passer rating. Carr had a season-high 293 yards and a pair of touchdowns. In the game, 15 different players had at least two catches each. Marquez Valdes-Scantling had 133 receiving yards and only two receptions, which is the kind of box score line you’d only find on a Super Tecmo Bowl end screen.
But the lasting impression left behind by Raider QB will likely end up being his continued penchant for reckless dives to the end zone that have no chance of success.
DEREK CARR, HAVE YOU LEARNED NOTHING? pic.twitter.com/p86kOMi1Yn
— Christian D'Andrea (@TrainIsland) October 20, 2019
Like his last-gasp dive against the Cowboys in 2017, that ball bounced out of bounds for a touchback, turning a scoring opportunity into the runway the Packers needed to add another touchdown before the half. If you liked big passing plays and schadenfreude-inducing mistakes, this was more or less perfection.
2. Falcons fans, who wisely avoided Mercedes-Benz Stadium
Julio Jones aside, there aren’t many reasons to watch Atlanta this fall. Dan Quinn has spent 2019 inching ever closer to unemployment as his Falcons look both outmanned and underprepared each week. On Sunday, they helped snap the Rams out of a three-game losing streak in a 37-10 loss that dropped Atlanta to 1-6.
Not that many fans were there to watch that nigh-unwatchable mess live.
Mid first quarter in Atlanta. Empty seats from here to Augusta. pic.twitter.com/F6dh4OP521
— Dan Wolken (@DanWolken) October 20, 2019
This is the stadium with the $2 hot dogs and $5 beers, by the way — so it’s not like watching a game live after scalping some $20 seats would be that much more expensive that hitting a local sports bar. People in Georgia just really, really don’t want to watch the Falcons right now. And the ones who do would like a refund for their trouble.
Fans screaming “We want our money back” in the tunnel.

That’s fair.
1. Marcus Peters, who got quite the INTroduction* to Baltimore, and the rest of the Ravens suddenly-scary defense
Peters was traded from Los Angeles to Baltimore earlier this week as the Rams cleared space for Ramsey to make his move west. The mercurial cornerback went from one needy secondary to another, but his first game in purple and black saw him notch his second pick-six of the season — against a familiar and unlikely opponent.
Welcome to the squad, @marcuspeters. pic.twitter.com/dOOJSVZeD1

Russell Wilson hadn’t thrown an interception since December 2018 until Peters jumped this floater of an out route and turned it into an easy six points. A consistent performance from a notably inconsistent cover corner would be a major boon for the Ravens. They came into Week 7 allowing 8.1 yards per pass — 26th in the league. On Sunday, they held an MVP frontrunner to a season-low 5.9 yards per attempt.
Peters was from the only person responsible for Baltimore’s leveled-up performance. Earl Thomas, facing his former team for the first time, didn’t get many opportunities to strike back at Wilson Sunday but still came up with five tackles, despite a Seattle offense that tended to push plays away from him. Multiple teammates would later cite the safety as their extra motivation behind Sunday’s upset win.

Chuck Clark and Brandon Carr each had passes defensed. And while the Ravens only got one sack, they also managed to keep Wilson from getting comfortable in the pocket by hitting him eight times (via seven different players).
The Ravens were scary even without a Ravenesque defense thanks to Lamar Jackson’s continued mastery of both the running and passing aspects of quarterbacking. He had 100+ rushing yards for the second game in a row and is currently on pace for 3,771 passing yards and 1,316 rushing yards. Now he’s got a defense that suddenly looks scary, and that’s awful news for the rest of the AFC.
*Do you get it? Do you get my joke? Because INT is the abbreviation for interception? Football is full of fun moments like this. Let’s enjoy them together, friend.
