This Canmore Ranch intimate wedding was such a romantic outdoor celebration in the Rocky Mountains. We first met Cassie and Mike on a patio in one of our favourite breweries on a hot summer day. This was back when we could all sit together, laugh and touch things without lathering on a litre of hand sanitiser afterwards. Ahhhh those were the days! These two are super sweet and have such a beautiful relationship. They were easy-going about their plans focusing on celebrating outside in the mountains with the ones they love. 

A Global Pandemic and Shifting Plans

Like all of our couples this year, the ever-changing restrictions made wedding planning even more stressful of a task. Cassie and Mike dealt with this so gracefully. They decided that they didn’t want to wait to get married and that they would reduce their numbers to suit the current gathering numbers for weddings. They focused on what was always the focus of their day. Getting married outside, in the mountains with the ones they loved and it was perfect!

A Stunning Summer Ceremony at the Canmore Ranch

The Canmore Ranch is one of the ceremony sites offered by The Cornerstone Theatre. We can’t say enough lovely things about this venue and their staff while dealing with the changes this year. They were happy to adapt to Cassie and Mike’s plans as they reduced their numbers and planned a more intimate ceremony and reception.

The day of this wedding was one of the nicest of the summer. The temperatures were high which is rare in the mountains and the fall colours were just starting to change the alpine landscape. It’s one of our favourite times of the year! We were lucky to explore some stunning locations for their portrait session. We loved watching Cassie inspect all the rocks on the riverbed, an endearing trait of a geologist. You can see in these photos just how much these two love each other. It was an absolute joy celebrating with them and creating all of these memories of their beautiful day.

Storyline

Chiefs Kingdom has waited since 1970 for another championship. The 50-year span between Super Bowl wins is the longest in NFL history. So yeah, there was no way Chiefs fans were going to let 20-degree temperatures and a dusting of snow stop them from showing out in full force for the Super Bowl victory parade.

It was estimated that more than a million people gathered to watch the Chiefs roll through downtown Kansas City and celebrate the Super Bowl 54 title:

Naturally, the crowd and the players themselves were in high spirits throughout the celebration (some with the help of, well, spirits). These are the ones we’re happiest for, in no particular order:

After becoming the youngest quarterback to ever win both the NFL MVP and Super Bowl MVP awards, Mahomes got a chance to let loose.

We’ve been following the ageless actor’s journey as he’s watched his Chiefs make, and then win, the Super Bowl in person. So it’s no surprise Rudd showed up to the parade, too.

In an interview with NFL Network, he explained what it’s been like as a lifelong Chiefs fan. “It’s kinda soul-crushing disappointment every year in a new and unique way, and then you also kind of just get the feeling like no one else in the league is really noticing,” Rudd said.

But now? “Pure elation.”

Rudd also took a moment to give credit to the 49ers and former Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith:

Searchers find possible part of missing Alaska plane

JUNEAU, Alaska — Searchers believe they have found part of the air ambulance that went missing with three people on board in Alaska, the aircraft owners said.

Guardian Flight announced that searchers using sonar technology found an object that is about the size of the aircraft about 600 feet (183 metres) underwater in Frederick Sound in the southeast, the Juneau Empire reported Monday.

The beacon signal from the missing plane’s cockpit voice recorder was detected last month. The object recently located is within a mile (1.6 kilometres) of the underwater beacon, the owners said.

The King Air 200 disappeared Jan. 29 while on the way to pick up a patient in the southeast community of Kake.

“Our search team, utilizing side-scanning sonar technology, has located what might possibly turn out to be an unknown part of our missing aircraft in the extended search area,” said Randy Lyman, Guardian Flight’s senior vice-president of operations.

The object is possibly 25 feet (7.6 metres) long and up to 8 feet (2.4 metres) wide, Lyman said.
