here are some perler bead patterns that i made of the promo kids! feel free to use these for whatever you want. i don't care whether or not you credit me, but i'd love to see it if you make any stuff with these!

this is my kandipatterns account if you want to look at the other patterns that i've made. most of them are sprites from video games, so these are the first original patterns of mine.

Post side order AU I came up with

so after I made that post ages ago about Marina being one step away from making a full-blown homunculus, I started wondering... What if she actually did?

And then I remembered an old coroika headcanon/theory I had and yeah it just started developing on its own. And I'm gonna tell you the story now because I do NOT have the time to write a full fic (I do, my hyperfixations are taking that time away). I don't know if this counts as a human au or whatever the Splatoon equivalent of that is (Inkling au?) but its a Thing.

Here we go!

After Side Order happens, Marina gets her Dramatic Days in Orderland working again (albeit with some changes) and starts wondering if, considering Smollusk's sentience, she could create an inkling or Octoling vessel for a sentient AI. Basically, creating a semi-mechanical homunculus. She creates a prototype body, tests it with some code, and then uses the data from its inspiration- Parallel Canon- to see if it works, with some tweaking to give it a consciousness.

It does work, and you end up with the semi-mechanical, semi-alive entity Marina nicknames Harmony. Unfortunately, Marina's underestimated how good at coding she was, and how much of Agent 4 and Agent 8's data Parallel Canon has. Harmony is, despite looking like a teenaged Inkling, effectively a little kid.

Marina calls up Four and Eight- otherwise known as Surume and Patricia (I'm using the promo kids for this cause I like sticking to canon. Cuttlefrsh and Steven also exist they're just irrelevant.)- to help her with Harmony. The kid pretty much latches onto them and doesn't let go, recognising the two of them as its data origins and promptly considering the two of them its moms. Thank Cod they live together. It's a little bit of a squeeze, but Surume and Patricia agree to take her in, since Marina's not confident in her own ability to raise a child amidst the idol biz.

Of course, the whole gang helps with the accidentally acquired child. Perhaps due to absorbing some data from Splashley, Harmony turns out genderfluid, and imitates the hairstyles of Kensaki, Yari and Cuttlefrsh when it feels more masculine. The group takes to renaming it Canon, although sometimes it asks people to call it Harmony when it feels like it. (I should note that Canon changes between he/she/they, I just got into the "it" and kinda can't stop here cause it'll get confusing).

Meanwhile, what's Marina doing? Phase two of the Primordial Inkling Experiment. This time, she's creating a vessel for Smollusk- and testing her limits to see if she can gain one that can switch between Inkling and Octoling form.

The result is a successful Hivemind (yes Coroika Hivemind) whose real name is Order. (Hivemind is just a turf nickname.) Not only capable of switching between Inkling and Octoling forms, he's also capable of accessing and getting himself into the digital side of pretty much any device. Lucky he doesn't use it for chaos, and he tends to keep his connection from Off the Hook a secret. Eventually, he strikes out on his own to become the Hivemind that shows up in the manga, before taking a while after the Splatfest to return to digital form. Yeah, this timeline is now a time loop. Only way I can reasonably connect the games and the manga.

Does Canon join the NSS? Perhaps. Someday, when they're mature enough to make it out on their own.

More Splatoon OCS. But these are my literal babies and I will not rest until their lore is complete.

The band is Octosites attract and they are little gay Octolings. We have Laurel in tip left corner. Hugo next to her. Dave bottom left, Eurika (pronounced Erika) top right. And Honey and Combe (buff) bottom right lesbians.

Lore tidbits! (Come and get yer lore here!)

Laurel (or Rel) is the leader or lead singer of the group. She dresses like edgy but soft. She can be crazy at times but is usually really nice to people she knows.

Hugo is the rich boy if the group. He has a rivalry with Rel because he was the lead singer, but now he just plays guitars and sings as duets sometimes. His parents own a beach house and he can get carried away and forget his responsibilities if his parents aren't there to bring him back to reality.

Dave is the lazy boy of the group. He gets high and drinks alcohol a lot. But he can get defensive and violent for his friends if you make him mad. Plays the Bass.

Eurika is the K-pop mom of the group because she's the eldest. She plays the keyboard and heard the band playing on the beach one day while walking. She played something for them (she carries her piano everywhere for some reason) and Rel asks her to join the band. Eurika accepts.

Honey and Combe are the lesbians of the group. Combe is the big bad girl with the horns and is the groups bodyguard. Honey is very energetic and talks a lot. She dresses like a tomboy. However, these two are inklings, as opposed to their bandmates who are all Octolings. So they can feel a bit left out from the group. That's why they like to collaborate with Chaus Ordus. (Miles and Zucker.) Honey plays backup synth and Combe plays the drums. Combe is also Patricia's little sister. She got inspired to get her horns by Jacky's horns

splatoon promo kids name list cause its always a pain to try to look for them for me personally and i realized. i could change that!

NOTE: weapons are ALWAYS inconsistent with the promo kids. their names may be assigned to different models as well. their first appearance is what they are usually seen as, and whatever weapon they "main" are based on renders/what they use in trailers.

SPLATOON 1

The skin tones are very inconsistent with everyone pictured.

TOP ROW: Kaori, John, Mizuho, Rul

BOTTOM ROW: Pit, Laura, Yuriko, Yuya

Kaori and John are the "Agent 3"s. Yuriko and Yuya do not have official renders.

SPLATOON 2

The skin tones are inconsistent, mainly with those with darker skin tones (unfortunately).

TOP ROW: Surume, Cuttlefrsh (Cuttlefresh in the earliest known trailer), Kou, Kensaki

BOTTOM ROW: KelpShot, Splashley, Tof-U, Yari

Surume and Cuttlefrsh are the "Agent 4"s, though Cuttlefrsh/Male Agent 4 is only ever depicted once (discounting coroika). Yari does have a transparent render, I just prefer the one with the roller (though, I wish I could find the transparent version of it).

OCTO EXPANSION (bonus)

BONUS: even though the renders used to represent Agent 8 are wildly inconsistent, there's two regular octoling renders that people believe are linked to them. Their names come from Octolings that look very similar to them in the offline version of the lobby. (Patricia and Steven). Sometimes Patricia is referred to as Naomi due to misinfo. They're like, promo kid adjacent to me.

SPLATOON 3 (the most popular and consistent)

VeronIKA and TakoTruck's skintones are inconsistent :(

Eyecolors for VeronIKA, Hirooooo, and AnemoneNo1 are inconsistent

An AU for the Coroika gang AND the promo kids gang!!

So who here's seen Shadows House???

yeah, i figured it's be nobody. Allow me to extremely badly explain the premise of this AU: Take two characters who look extremely similar if not the same, turn one of them into a literal living silhouette, and put them in a master-servant exploitation dynamic in a shady ass Victorian mansion with a shit ton of rules to follow. The Shadows, due to being pitch black, have Living Doll doubles that serve as their face, which means Dolls have to learn to act in perfect sync with their masters. and when I say pitch-black, i mean if you look at them head on they are a silhouette. it takes five minutes of the first episode for us to learn Kate has eyelashes and a nose because we don't get any side shots. there's a bunch of other details too but i'll go into that later.

Fun, right? Probably not for them, but Shadows House has such an original concept I can't help it. Splatoon has a LOT of characters that share similarities (a lot of promo kids get Coroika equivalents!) so this is a really fun AU for me to think about. Let me explain my thoughts, because if I have the time I'll write this out as a fic.

So, I explained the premise up there. But not everyone in Coroika has a double! So who's in the AU? Well, everybody- in a way.

First of all, we have our Shadow and Living Doll pairs. These are the characters with doubles- basically, everyone with a promo kid or Coroika equivalent- or similar, since there's an exception to that rule. For the characters that only have small gear differences (such as their shirt being different) I've counted them in, but if there's too many differences they won't show as a pair. (N-Pacer is in because I wanted more than one person from Team Emperor in, lmao.)

The Shadows are:

Goggles, Specs, Bobble, Headphones, Gloves, Half-Rim, Prince, N-Pacer, Hachi, Nana, Ocho, Mitsuami, Shady, 8-Bit, Barreleye, Shellmet and Hornmet. (if there's anyone else that bears extremely similar resemblance to a named promo kid, do tell please, I'll add them in.)

Their Living Dolls are, in the same order:

John, Rui, Mizuho, Kaori, Cuttlefrsh, Kensaki, Emperor, Tof-U, Steven, Patricia, Hiro, Veronika, Calamar, Anemone, Yarrwhal, Takotruck, and Stephanie.

Well. you might be asking, "hey Thespian, if it's a master-servant dynamic, why is Prince the Shadow and Emperor the Doll? Why is Mitsuami in control of Veronika and not the other way around?" well. that is extreme spoilers for the Shadows House plot, so I Shall Not Say. But, as you might've noticed, some of the characters put in Doll position are quite headstrong... so that dynamic will be rather fun to see. Which characters will be in perfect sync by their Debut, and which will have trouble matching up?

Oh, and an extra layer of Shadows House canon- if a Shadow and a Doll can't mesh well enough and don't put enough effort in getting to know each other, the Shadow dissolves and dies, and the Living Doll is forced to become a masked doll that does tasks around the mansion in absolute silence. Not like they're told that, but they're gonna wanna avoid it anyway.

What's a Debut, you ask? in short, a trial young Shadows undertake to prove their Doll is in sync enough with them to be let out of their rooms as a pair and interact with everyone else in the children's wing of the house. The adults wing is a whole nother can of worms that i am NOT opening unless someone actually wants me to.

ANyway, if anyone else is interested in that... well. talk to me about it!! i would gladly ramble! or push me to write the fic for it, haha.

Splatoon 1:

Lesbian couple Laura and Kaori, because Kaori deserves a hot girlfriend and Laura is everything to me

John and Pit are getting married at some point

Rui is bi but he has no fucking clue because his level of rizz for guys is negative five (he's only dated two people and both of them were girls) (one is Mizuho if you're wondering and yes they're still together)

I don't know what kind of queer they are but Yuriko and Yuya are the kind of queers that know all the tea the second it happens. They call each other the most out of the group- they don't wait to get home, they spill the tea to each other while it's hot. Chaos twins. They probably spam Uno Reverse cards on each other when the gang plays

Splatoon 2:

Surume and Cuttlefrsh are like Marina and Pearl in that they're both gay for someone of the other species (Patricia and Steven respectively. This also applies to them too obv)

Genderfluid Splashley! They go by Splash or Splashley depending on how they feel.

(Surprisingly, I don't have that many relationship or queer headcanons for the S2 group. Perhaps it's because Kensaki and Tof-U as a ship consume my every waking thought and as a consequence I forget half the others exist.)

Splatoon 3: (I have the most by far for this group, there's not a single straight character)

Transmasc Calamar! He was shy about it for ages but he's more confident now and doesn't mind keeping his tentacles long. According to Anemone he looks more masculine with them long

Non-binary Anemone! Them and Cal are twins, and Tof-U is their older sister! Subsequently they both got gender advice from Splashley while they were in the confusion state. Anemone spent longer in that confusion, but Cal had more dysphoria problems. They're both okay now, thanks to each other.

Poly Hiro, Veronika and Anemone. Is this because of the ship between them? Yeah. <-shameless bitch

Calamar is also aroace. Even if he wasn't from the start, he'd had ended up like that anyway from the amount of PDA his twin commits with their partners...

Stephanie is pan and ace! Wild bitch (affectionate), will date anyone that catches her eye, but isn't into the whole sex thing. She's not a cheater, tho, she's loyal to hell and back.

TakoTruck is lesbian and currently dating Stephanie. :)

Had to restrain myself from typing "Kayoss and Yarrwhal are oblivious gays" in all caps but they are. Like the fools they are, it's a bet that makes them confess to each other.

Mostly unrelated, but Kayoss has their wedding planned despite them being 15 and 16 respectively. (He's the kinda guy that plans his entire life over and over again.)
