I for one could keep reading radiant forever. You’re free to do nothing or anything with this: Cap who doesn’t get dressing up for role play might still enjoy lingerie. Maybe Pat gets him some, or maybe he surprises Pat by wearing some under his clothes because he knows it will make Pat go feral once he finds out. Maybe even the lingerie is all white to give a purity vibe to Cap who can be claimed by Pat. And all that white would look lovely up against the dark possessive bruises and hickies that Pat will liter over him.

for the ask game - i am so intrigued by 'opera cap'!

AS YOU SHOULD BE it's one of my favorites!!!!

ok so opera cap is part of my whip verse au, set in 1990s parliament. it's the patcap-focused sequel to cracking the whip. there's a lot more fluff, a lot more angst, fairly light on the smut. it asks hard-hitting questions like "can a fic be a character study if i had no clue how to write said character while starting" and "can i make a scene where characters talk about the fitnessgram pacer test for hours into compelling prose" and "oh my god will they just TALK already". and the answer is yes yes and no 💖

i Could go into a whole long infodump about the sheer genius of the title opera cap but it deserves its own post i think. anyways, have a summary and snippet below the cut :)

if you haven't read whip fic, a brief summary to the dynamics: cap is a tory backbencher mp, loyal to a fault. he's been recently abandoned by thomas, the chief tory whip, as he and julian live out their happily ever after. now he's adrift, searching for the person who can tell him what to do again.

pat's the labour chief whip, cheerful and nice, intent on persuading anyone to join his side. he gently encourages cap to break out of lockstep with the party line, but he might not realize what the consequences are...

“So, what d’you think?”

The Captain startled when he realised Pat was talking to him. “What?”

“About this whole bill. What’s your opinion?”

“The bill?” The Captain struggled to recentre his thoughts. Heat flushed down the back of his neck. Why couldn’t he stay focused on a simple conversation when Pat was around? It wasn’t hard to talk about politics, but his mind just kept getting sidetracked…

“I, er—this will be—we’ll be voting on it? In the House? I, er, I don’t know yet.”

“You don’t?” Pat asked, tilting his head to the side.

The Captain shook his head. “I haven’t gotten—haven’t gotten the whip for that yet. So, I, er… I don’t know which way to vote…”

“The whip?” Pat threw his head back and laughed. The Captain flinched; he hadn’t thought his words were all that funny, but his momentary embarrassment disappeared when Pat placed his hand on the Captain’s shoulder.

“Cap, mate,” Pat said finally, a bright, genuine smile on his face, “I’m not askin’ you because I want to hear what Mr Thorne thinks. I know that already—he yelled at me for half a bloody hour about it.”

“You—you aren’t?” the Captain asked. “Then why—”

“I’m asking you because I want to hear what you think.”

I had a dream last night that the ghosts were rehearsing a wedding in preparation for the one that happens in the show with the lesbians and the captain and pat were the ones playing the brides!!! the captain was in his usual clothes but somehow pat managed to put on a wedding dress???? and oh, pat in a dress? one of the most beautiful images I've ever pictured in a dream. he even flashed his dick at one point after saying yes???? yeah idk what the hell that was about.

Started writing my own fanfiction for ghosts only for it to naturally turn itself into a patcap thing. I sat staring at the screen like “how did we get here????” 🤭😭
