Last night, one of my childhood friends, her cousin, and i were supposed to go see Wicked together (they haven't seen it yet!) but we couldn't decide on a showtime, so my friend suggested we go look at Christmas lights instead. My friend invited her siblings and their families to join us, and we all met up an hour later at one of the city's most festive holiday spots- a large, sprawling old town square that gets decked out in every conceivable way with millions of lights and tons of fun activities- it's like Stars Hollow on steroids. We ended up running into a ton of people from our community- i joked that it looks like the Muslims are colonizing Christmas now 😈

After seeing the lights and getting pictures everywhere, we all went out to a new halal spot for a late-night dinner. The food was surprisingly decent, and the fries were absolutely massive. The sweet angel of a guy working there gave me a second order of fries for free, so i now have more fries than i know what to do with, which is arguably the best problem a girl could ask for 🙆🏻‍♀️

The highlight of my night was hanging out with my friend's nieces and nephews, and getting to witness their exuberance about everything... I didn't get too many pictures because we were so immersed in taking it all in, but my favorite of all the design elements were these gigantic trumpet-blowing angels that were completely composed of thousands of little lights- i'm still thinking about them now. They were so beautiful and otherworldly, they reminded me of a dream i had once. On the flipside, there's definitely something to be said for the soullessness of consumerism, and the way the glitter we emphasize on the surface of things often obfuscates their true meaning... but if you're taking the time to read a text post on Tumblr in 2024, you already get it :)

Materialism aside, i love the way people pour every ounce of themselves into decorating and celebrating the things they love. It's so beautifully, endearingly, transcendentally human, and i love us for it... the crossroads of human ingenuity and human belief is simply incredible. I love witnessing the evidence of our collective passion and devotion in the form of artistry and cultural traditions, and i love the way such things have been an integral part of the human story since the very dawn of civilization. Our rituals and traditions are such an inexorable, precious aspect of our humanness. Shout out to everyone going for umrah this winter- you'll get to taste this reality in its highest, most beautiful manifestation inshAllah :)

Merry Christmas & happy holidays to everyone celebrating... may God make this coming year a more harmonious one for the betterment of humanity, and may our brothers and sisters in Palestine, Parachinar, Sudan, and Congo finally taste liberation from the unfathomable cruelty of their oppressors.

The Beauty of Shia Resistance.

In last few dark days, i saw many beautiful things. I saw entire shia-community from every corner of the world, united like a iron chain for parachinar. I saw the shias from parachinar congratulating their martyr friends by using words like شھادت مبارک and the ones who returned alive are wailing and mourning for not getting the honor of martyrdom.

I saw 7 best-friends sacrificing each other to protect each other until all 7 of them reunited in the valley of love. I saw old mothers giving yellow forehead bands to their young sons with ‘Ya Zahra’ and ‘Ya Zainab’ written on them. If these are today’s stories, just imagine how beautiful the time of Zahoor will be.

Today, many dead bodies of the martyrs were buried. Following the local and international outrage, Two M@jors of P@kist@n's R-my (enablers of genocide) came with the fake sympathies and forced shias to put down weapons and in protest shias replied that 'stop giving shelters to T@liban and ask them to put down their weepons, we are defending ourselves’.

The R-my started the th-reats and the brave shias immediately kicked them out of the Imam Bargah.

Roads are blocked and ambulances are being attacked by the t@lib@n. Many critically wounded momineen are dying before reaching hospitals.
