Hot take: Kurogiri being a nomufied Shirakumo actually makes him a better father figure to Shigaraki in retrospect. I see a lot of people say they think that revelation ruined his character and/or his relationship with Tomura and I will admit that I too used to be in that camp, but I’ve since come to realize it actually did the opposite. Why?

Think about it: Tomura and Kurogiri’s relationship was never completely positive; Kurogiri was complicit in AFO grooming Tomura and left him to bleed on the floor. If he wasn’t a nomu, he’d have full agency over those actions and it’d be harder to rationalize them while still believing he really cares about Shigaraki. Since he’s a nomu, however, we can rationalize these as him being unable to disobey AFO; he literally couldn’t go against AFO and that’s why he was complicit in his treatment of Shigaraki. An argument can also be made that he left Shigaraki to bleed on the floor because AFO was speaking to him and as a nomu he had to listen to him first and couldn’t do anything else. Sure, those are just interpretations, but the fact remains it’s easier to rationalize his bad caretaker moments if you remember he’s a nomu.

Not entirely. Yes, he was programmed to raise and protect Shigaraki, but he was not programmed to care about him. He could have protected Shigaraki without caring about him. But he does genuinely care for Tomura and no, those feelings are not programmed, Aizawa literally recognized Kurogiri’s desire to protect Tomura and insistence that he cannot abandon him as part of Shirakumo’s nature. Kurogiri truly cares about Tomura. We can debate over how much he was able to show that, but he did have agency in caring for him.

This is why I believe the revelation Kurogiri is a nomufied Oboro makes him a better, not worse, parental figure to Tomura in retrospect. I hope this makes sense.

I'll give you some shigadabi hcs+trans tomura and nb Dabi.

Only Kurogiri and Sensei knows about Tomura being trans, in fact, Tomura cut his hair haphazardly and tried to flush it down the toilet, but Kurogiri saw and was panicking. Good thing Kurogiri can style hair, so Tomura's hair was saveable.

Sensei only gave Tomura a binder and T because he actually wanted a male successor, so none of this is out of good will, but it'll do. Om top of that Dr. Ujiko isn't allowed to be Tomura's doctor on behalf of Kurogiri's begging, he gave Tomura his injections because the Doctor is a creep, and Dadgiri kicked into overdrive.

Using Tomura's pronouns was effortless to Kurogiri, he simplified it to "master Shigaraki Tomura" and from there it was smooth sailing.

When Dabi joined the league, he was introduced to a lot of characters and traits, and identities. He has great respect for Big Sis Magne and her journey as a trans woman, even listening to get a better understanding. Then one day he's like, "hey, Big Sis?" She's responds, "yeah? What is it?" And he just tells her that he doesn't like to be called he or she and wants something in between. That's how Dabi became nb and started using they/them. No-one was bothered, muscle is a dickhead so none of them tolerated his shit. Tomura wasn't out, so no-one would've guessed.

Tomura's voice is deep and raspy, sometimes his voice cracks like a boy still going through puberty or he squeaks sometimes when he yells. Like Dabi could say "Hey, boss, you snore in your sleep." He's so smug about it, so Tomura shouts "No I doN't-" but it pitches and there's a squeak.

(They love it when Tomura's voice cracks.)

Then Dabi starts a relationship with their boss and at first it's just general affection, but they never came close to undressing, only peaking a bit at whatever was exposed. Dabi has seen Tomura's scarred thighs, they don't find it ugly, they found it endearing and really, REALLY sexy. So when they do get around to having sex, Tomura just tells them when he undresses.

Now, I said no-one knew Tomura is trans, but Dabi had their guesses, but didn't feel like it was their place. They still love Tomura, obviously! Who wouldn't? So lovemaking was so easy and strong, it made Tomura's heart pound brutally against his ribcage, so passionate and loving. It just..felt nice for them both! To have two people with different gender identities love and respect each other so much is so emotionally important to them, especially Tomura, but he loves validating Dabi and their identity, acknowledging that it's special and unique to them. Anyway, this is big brained anon! I told you I have A LOT

I just really love the idea of the LOV being this safe space for all the members where they get to be a found family, but also to be themselves for the first time. And of course, I love that good tender shigadabi content! Dabi and Tomura being soft and intimate and loving each and supporting each other in their respective journey ... we love to see it.

Ah Imagine Mochi(and the other aus) had like a safe spot( like how omega build nests and stuff). Like they had a small pillow fort in their closet and they still kinda do that. The brothers and dad just notices that Mochi will go missing for a few hours and then they just show up like nothing happened??

Well, Mochi already has a closet full of stuffed animals! But the idea of a genuine comfort nook is too precious to leave.

That I’ve mentioned in a couple HCS (Like this one and this one), and even in the most recent chapter I’ve written (here).

It’s an accumulation of things from fans and friends and such, though Toshinori is the one that piled the most into it since was given a chance to spoil his little one in some regard.

Likely strung up some more lights in there and even a small fan to keep the air circulating!!

There’s probably also any small hobby items in there since it is an active chill zone.

If you decide to pick up on crochet, bracelet making, etc. then it’s in there!

Let’s speed run everyone else!

Mitsu - Likely feels the need to be stronger, doesn’t spend a lot of time dwelling on things and small rooms reminds them of being forced back into their own room. If this were omegaverse, they’d be adverse to building nests since their parents would just destroy it.

Tenshi - Doesn’t feel the need for the space, they’re happy where they are. Small spaces makes them think about the fact that Papagiri is trapped in a jail with no escape... Not a good time all round. Omegaverse them would build a nest so the other members of their family could also receive comfort.

Kiyoi - similar to Mochi, they have their own hideaway inside their room. No one disturbs it per say because the only people that can really fit in it are Eri and Mimic. The latter doesn’t have a death wish and the former always allowed in their room and in that space. Omegaverse them would have nest in the hideaway since they know Kai would not be happy if they did so on the bed.
