We meet again, Bohol!
As beautiful as the Philippines is, many destinations offer mostly sand and surf. But not Bohol. This province is known for unique attractions that you can’t find anywhere else in the Philippines.
Sure, other islands in the Philippines are worth recommending, too, but most boast one or two of the following — white beaches, incredible sites, diverse wildlife, interesting history. Bohol has them all. From wild encounters with dolphins and tarsiers to the incomparable views of the Chocolate Hills, Bohol is a province that is easy to promote. It doesn’t need much sales talk.
We stayed at Coastal View in Panglao, then we transferred to On Board Beach Hostel and Resort for some quiet alone time near the beach. The wedding was at South Palms Resort, and I can attest that this is probably the most exquisite hotel here, next to Bohol Beach Club.

I was tasked with the daunting task of speaking in front of everyone. I wasn't really prepared to cry, so I let the "funny" me take over. Let me share to you guys my speech during the wedding.
"Kamusta naman ang lahat? Nakainom na ba? Kung Hindi pa, ito na yung time. Haha. For everyone's reference, I'm jasfher ako yung favorite friend ng groom and bride. Jk. Haha.
Jk. Haha
Okay kidding aside, sige maybe I'll just start ho I met the bride and the groom. Tagalog yung speech ko so pasensya na. To our foreigner friends, welcome to the Philippines. Haha.
Si brux and karla orgmates ko from UP travel society. Hindi ko din alam paano nabuo yung barkadahan namin, pero I guess we all just clicked and nagkakaayaan na lang kumain, gumala, tumambay ganyan, and the rest was history.
Yung siargao kasi grabe talaga yun gabi-gabi kami lasing as in tumatakbo kami nina karla sa kalsada tapos hinahabol kami nina brux. Haha. Grabe talaga yun. Nung South Cotabato naman, natry namin yung highest zipline in the South East Asia, may nadaanan kaming apat na waterfalls ganun kataas. Tapos ang dami naming change costume nag T'boli traditional costume kami, tapos nag abaya and hijab kami nung pumunta kaming Grand Mosque. Very dubai ganon. Haha.
Indeed a matchmake in heaven walang distance distance. They will really make way to communicate, and show their love for each other. The yin to each other's yang.
So medyo ang haba na no? haha so summary and summary? Haha. Nakita ko silang nag grow, both literally and figuratively. As in kung may masasabi akong couple na tested by time and distance ay sila talaga iyon. In between those laughters, I know genuine love is there. Sobrang happy ko na nagkatuluyan kayo, and from day 1, alam kong kayo na talaga. I know madaming taon taon pa tayong pagsasamahan, at andito lang kami para sa inyo. Congratulations, Karla and Brux, and i only hope the best for you both. Mahal na mahal ko kayo 💕
Cheers to the brucals!" Probably the best and most heartfelt wedding I've been to. Cryfest. Literally shed buckets of tears. So this is how it feels like to see your close friends get married. I was so lucky to have witnessed this momentous event in our barkada (god and tanda na namin haha)

JULY DUMP PT. 1 // Last July for me was a hectic, whirlwind kind of a month but in a good and a very refreshing way. I was fortunate enough to take paid time off for 3 weeks (imagine that!) to basically reconnect with my good old friends all the way in Zamboanga and also be able to do what I always love doing which is going to the beach trips and eat my heart out. Though I have to endure six flights in those three weeks going back and forth to Zamboanga - Boracay - Bohol and flying back to Manila in between, I feel like those days were like the longest days of my life.
Tumblr media
I flew to Zamboanga and spent 3 days there attending a close friend’s wedding as one of the groom’s men and I’m so happy that I get to have a staycation with them. Keyword: Low maintenance friendships! My heart is full as we share our peaks and valleys and hear their stories in the eight years that we’ve never seen each other after we graduated college. It reminds me how important it is to surround yourself with the right people, especially in one of those crucial moments in your life that somehow plays a big factor that determines your destiny and the career that you want to achieve. Also, seeing my friend tie the knot reminds me how 8 years can sometimes feel like a snap of a finger.
Tumblr media
I went back to Manila just to unpack some of my things and flew right away back to Boracay. Going to the island in July is a hit or miss. Since it’s a rainy season, there’s a possibility that the weather could just ruin everything. But just like before when I also went to the island in the same month, I am so lucky that the sun was up and burning like a thousand fires that evoked an extended summer vibe. The blue waves, white sand and lush coconut trees never get old for me. I must say a legit chill place no matter how much some people would tag the island as somewhat overrated. I don’t care. LOL. This is like my 5th time on this island but I would say this one is quite special. I get to stay longer which is almost a week and I booked a 4-star hotel all for myself. A total self-care spree where I never really thought about work or anything from Manila but just me enjoying the beach and the scenery while also rereading a book called “The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle which you may want to explore especially when you’re traveling like being stuck in an airport for example. Though the book has concepts and insights that I find myself to be resisting on, somehow it was a great companion guide in my trips as it talks about living in the now and being present more than ever.

(Obligatory jump shot in Bohol’s man-made forest. I thought this was a park! But this is actually a public highway with highspeed vans and busses so take a pic at your own risk ⚠️ )
After a week in Boracay, I flew back to Manila to work for like 3 days and went straight to Bohol and also stayed there for a week in a very peaceful villa near Alona Beach in Panglao. Such a famous tourist destination but I have actually never been there before. But I’m gonna save my Bohol adventure in the next blog posts soon as I’m a bit of a slow burner and a slacker at the same time in terms of blogging things. This blog post was just made out of necessity as I have free time today. I still have a regular job that I need to attend to finance and to be able to do this again in the future! Come on! LOL I don’t have that much expectation when I went there as I was still in Boracay high with my already sunburnt skin but I enjoyed the trip so much. Seeing Chocolate hills and being able to drive an ATV around there was so much fun aside from frying my skin even more with their beautiful, blue-watered beaches. Definitely balik balik sa Bohol as what locals always say.
I documented this 3-week adventure in a Kodak film camera and I’m very excited as well how they will turn out. I never felt so refreshed after wandering to these places and just being able to disconnect from the busy life in the Metro. It was truly another humbling experience and makes me want to work hard, even more, to be able to do this again! :) Oop. I think I wrote too much for what was supposed to be a quick proof of life update. I definitely don’t have time and the energy to proofread this so apologies for my incoherent relay of stream of consciousness. What you have just read is just me being grateful in summary. *Queue star-crossed album by Kacey Musgraves*
Sunburnt but still wearing my SPF 30s every day,
J.

Quarter II Rants (sorry)
I deserve a good long summer vacation!!
Tumblr media
(4/8/19: Samal Island, Davao del Norte, PH)
☕ Quarter I was all about finishing tasks, senior thesis, and graduation. Those three months finally passed and I’m grateful to say I did a pretty good job keeping my shit together. This is my self-report of my second quarter of 2019 with the intention of moving on after six years of my environment molding me into an anxious stem student but who also has the intention of doing art in the future. It was hard juggling two different things, and I bet it will also get harder soon. I flunked my exam to get to my dream uni/arts course. The only doors open for me were science courses but soredemo I’m still grateful for these chances. Maybe the universe is still saying “not yet” to myself for now.
Days after I checked my exam results and the morning after graduation day, I immediately flew south to attend a youth conference with my relatives. To me, it felt like an escape from my problems back home by sheltering myself through the event. There were lots of self-reflection and I can definitely say it helped me made some decisions. Don’t get me wrong, I actually did had a fun time!! No regrets.
Tumblr media
(4/9/19: Pithecophaga jifferyi sketches - The Philippine Eagle Center, Malagos, Davao City, PH)
☕ Witnessed Kamikazee and December Avenue music huhu 💕 Feels surreal to hear your songs from spotigy/youtube on replay to live concerts with tons of people.
Tumblr media
(4/2919: Kamikazee - HNU Oval)
Tumblr media
(5/1/19: December Avenue - CPG Sports Complex)
☕ Did a beach/underwater-themed wedding guestbook commission!! I had fun experimenting different textures for the cover, illustrating a photo of them together, and painting different sea creatures on the pages!!
☕ Had a 20-days summer job at the provincial capitol. They newly built the place and was assigned to a very pretty office. Also met new found friends!! 💕
☕ We did our part for World Oceans Day with a beach cleanup held by Plastic Free Bohol (a local NGO I hope to volunteer more often!!) After picking up trashes, we went ahead to find a good spot to chill/sun bask with my friends.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(6/8/19: World Oceans Day - Doljo Beach, Panglao Island & Bool, Tagbilaran City, Bohol)
Other friends also did a mini mangrove planting project in Bool’s coastal areas!! So proud of my batch mates 💕
As someone who’s taking a college course that mainly covers ocean conservation and marine life (maybe in another post hehe), figured at least participate local cleanups (as if it’s our last haha) even if commuting to the venue’s a challenge, all efforts definitely doesn’t go to waste :)
Quarter II was an experience of taking my longest break and I definitely believe that I deserved that haha! Quarter III starts this month and all college prep should start now. School starts in August so I think I still have time lounging on this cave lol
I think I made good decisions so far and had good realizations during my break. Whatever happens, happens. I did my work and arrived setbacks, but I’ll try and try again no matter how long it takes. I’m also interested in my upcoming field in uni so I’ll take it as a stepping stone to my intentions, old and new. :)
Lalaban po ako ulit.
Hopes and dreams,

The beauty of living in a tropical country ❤️
We just celebrated our anniversary at Bohol, Philippines. :) We stayed at South Palms resort and stayed for a couple of days.
Thank you my love for this getaway. ❤️ As I’ve mentioned before, we normally celebrate our anniversaries in a low-maintenance way haha we just go out for a dinner date, talk about our anniversary topic and that’s it. This year we originally planned to just go on a staycation at a nearby hotel, maiba lang. But my husband asked me to look for a place na medyo malayo naman haha fortunately Bohol is now open for tourists and their travel requirements have become simple na din. Vax ID and valid ID lang and you’re good to go. :) Ayaw ko talaga mag effort if madami pa requirements like swab and other docs.
Di naman ako heavy traveler no, but I find Bohol to be the most convenient place among all my choices. Also, resorts in Panglao are just 10 to 15 mins away from the new Panglao international airport. 30 mins away sa Tagbilaran which is the city center. And an hour away lang from man-made forest and chocolate hills. It’s clean, tourist spots and beach resorts are close to each other, not crowded and no heavy traffic pa! Perfect for laidback type na trip. :)
We rented a Yamaha scooter (NMax) we thought it would be fun to see Bohol on 2 wheels naman. Unfortunately, maulan! Ang itinerary namin is mag road trip hanggang man-made forest, but hangang Bohol Bee Farm lang kami nakarating dahil biglang umulan. Nag nap si J and saka kami nagswimming ulit. Haha my husband so kyot dahil lagi sya nag nap sa trip na ito hahahaha sabi nya dun lang sya narelax kasi. Praise God bec we have angels na sa store and pwede na silang iwan! Hehe so sila muna in charge while away kami. Haha! Nagandahan ako sa book kaya i thought maganda ito basahin while nasa vacation kami, kaya ni-pause ko muna and dito sa vacation ko na namin tinuloy. :)
There are several beach destinations in the Philippines. We are blessed to be an hour/few hours away from these beauties. :) My prayer is that many people will be able to see and enjoy the beauty of our country, and more importantly, I pray that these destinations will always be preserved and protected. ❤️
I thank God for our beautiful country. I also praise God for allowing us to celebrate our wedding anniversary and of course, for blessing our marriage since day one! I’ve learned a lot since I got married. I’ve discovered myself more and I also get to appreciate my husband more. :) We are not perfect, we’ve failed each other many times, but marriage is sooo beautiful when you have Christ in the center of it. ❤️ My greatest advice about marriage is to run away from being too prideful! Sabi nga, marriage is a union of two forgivers. 😁 So be humble, obey God and you’ll surely see His mighty works in your relationships!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Bohol eyes reopening by 2nd week of December
#PHnews: Bohol eyes reopening by 2nd week of December
MANILA – Bohol is planning to welcome travelers by the second week of December 2020, an addition to the growing list of destinations reopening after months of closure, Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat said on Tuesday.
"Bohol will also be opened. They are already open for MICE, for big events or weddings but I think about second week of this December, (they will reopen) also for independent travelers, kahit small groups, kahit mag-isa ka (even for small groups, even if you are alone) you can already go," she said in a television interview.
Like many other tourist sites reopened under the new normal, Puyat said visitors would be required to submit a negative RT-PCR result upon entry to the island.
The province has been studying the island's gradual reopening as early as August 2020. In October 2020, it hosted the first physical MICE event in the Philippines since the pandemic started, with the launch of the 2020 hybrid Philippine Travel Exchange in Panglao.
Panglao Island (Photo courtesy of Guide to the Philippines)
MICE stands for meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions, an emerging niche market in the tourism industry before the health crisis.
Bohol is home to the Chocolate Hills, the tarsier, and the stunning Panglao Island, popular for its white-sand beaches and coral gardens.
Aside from sun and beach, Bohol also offers breathtaking spots for history buffs and adrenaline junkies. It has Danao’s Adventure Park, where you can zip over a canyon, walk on air over a gorge or simply take a plunge over a ravine.
The province also houses cultural treasures including old-houses, centuries-old stone churches, and watchtowers spread over the northwestern and southern coast of the island. (PNA)

Tips:
📍Check in online to avoid airline inconvenience. Our flight was overbooked and we have to wait for the next available flight. (Pros: Travel voucher worth P3,500, P500 transportation allowance, free breakfast. Cons: We have to give up our Cebu Day tour Itinerary 😔)
📍Have your ferry booked in advance. Less hassle! We booked our Cebu-Tagbilaran Trip online and we didn’t have to wait for the long queue. Our Tagbilaran-Cebu trip gave us our hardest lesson as travelers. When we arrived at the port, Ocean Jet’s available ticket was business class at P1,000. We tried another ferry called Island water (New and cozy vessel, worth the hassle!). We waited for almost an hour just to get tickets to Cebu so we don’t miss our flight. We prayed that we can take the earliest trip at 2PM because our Cebu-Iloilo flight was at 7PM. Free travel time is 2 hours. Luckily we got premium economy tickets for 2PM trip for only P450.
📍Tricycle and motorcycle drivers in Bohol over price fair so beware! You may contact Kuya Ivan for affordable Bohol tour with his motorcycle or tricycle at (0910) 268 7722.

Bohol issues tourists’ travel bubble protocols
#PHinfo: Bohol issues tourists’ travel bubble protocols
TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, Nov. 16 (PIA) -- Two days before Bohol opens its doors to further open up its economy by adopting the Department of Tourism (DOT) concept of travel bubble in Panglao island, Gov. Arthur Yap has set up the implementing guidelines for the strategy that assures tourists and locals are protected from possible transmission of the dreaded corona virus disease (COVID).
Executive Order No. 53, which immediately took effect on Nov. 13, formally laid down the requirements for inbound tourists who may come in for meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions (MICE) and events, with at least six attendees from outside the province.
And by events, the EO states that these include weddings, reunions, anniversaries, birthdays, and similar celebrations.
TRAVEL BUBBLE. Group travels are not to deviate from their designated itinerary to make sure the group does not mingle with the locals led by a government accredited guide and driven by a DOT accredited driver in an accredited transport. (rahc/PIA-7/Bohol)
According to the executive order, inbound tourists would need a confirmed booking in an accommodation establishment in Panglao or Dauis, which has acquired a DOT Certificate of Authority to Operate or the Ultimate Bohol Experience (UBE) seal from the provincial government.
Inbound tourists must also be able to present a negative Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) Test from a Department of Health-accredited RT PCR Laboratory, not earlier than 72 hours prior to the date of travel for them to be allowed entry to Bohol.
These tourists are strongly advised to observe strict quarantine immediately after undergoing the RT PCR until their travel to Bohol.
That also means they would have to pre-register through the Bohol Tourist Registration portal via www.tourism.bohol.gov.ph.
When registered, registrants are given necessary information and instruction on the policies and assigned a personal Quick Response Code serving as their visitor ID to Bohol.
While all inbound tourists are mandated to strictly observe health and safety protocols: wear masks, wash hands frequently, and maintain social or physical distancing at all times.
Upon check-in at the airport or upon arrival, they will have to present a copy of their negative test results by RT PCR.
In the absence of RT PCR results, they will have to sign an undertaking stating that they will take an RT PCR test upon arrival, and undergo strict quarantine until the negative RT PCR test result is issued.
Incoming tourists should then bring an electronic copy of their documents including the QR Code which would be scanned upon entrance and exit of all visited establishments in Bohol.
This facilitates contact easier tracing while in Bohol.
Tourists staying for over five days must undergo a repeat RT PCR on the fifth day of their stay, according to the EO.
Upon arrival in Bohol, all tourists would be fetched by the transport service of the accommodation establishment where they will stay, or they can also be picked up by a pre-booked tourist transport service provider who will bring them to their pre-booked accommodation establishments.
While in transit, stopovers are not allowed nor can tourists be allowed to meet friends, relatives, or acquaintances outside the tourism bubble.
For locals who would be joining tourists in meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibits and events, they will have to be quarantined for five days and be tested via RT PCR and would only be released to go home once they obtain a negative RT PCR result.
For tourists visiting tourist spots, they can do so only when these are organized through DOT accredited travel and tour operator, because travel will only be through sites which bear the UBE seal and accompanied by DOT-accredited tour guides and LGU-licensed community tour guides.
Stops are only allowed in designated areas and tour operators have to strictly follow pre-set itinerary, never deviating from the same.
By then, there would be no walk-in tourists, according to the EO.
In cases when a guest exhibits COVID-19 symptoms, he would be immediately isolated and be tested through RT PCR, while the tour guide or operator would have the responsibility to contact the medical response team for assessment and care.
Overall supervision and monitoring of the Bohol tourist bubble protocols rest upon the Bohol Tourism Office. (rahc/PIA-7/Bohol)
