ooooooooooooh THIS.
Getting to the end of dt17, and I’m going crazy over this impending doom. It is becoming ever more clear that the duck family are NOT THE GOOD GUYS. It’s been iv dripped to us the whole time. The property damage has been brought up, and brushed off. The whole “playing in to the bad guy” role during The Rumble For Ragnarok being not so different from how Scrooge is regularly. Bradford’s remarks about perspective at the end of Let’s Get Dangerous. Just… all the little details in the series, masked by the blatant overpowering themes… trust, working together, all the little episode lessons that have been leading up to THIS. And yet Scrooge is still greedy. He’s selfish. But the writers have been revving up to tackle this. The Forbidden Fountain of the Foreverglades used Goldie as a foil, showing how Scrooge has grown and come to have a sound moral compass, compared to how he “used to be”. They’re not the ducks they used to be, after all. This gets me extra excited for ep.22, The Life and Crimes of Scrooge McDuck. I have ten episodes left to watch. They WILL tackle Scrooges character and his development. He will be punished for what he’s done. But what happens to his family? His friends and allies? After all, it’s Dellas fault the moon invaded, isn’t it? (At least from an outside perspective, it is.) Most, if not all the family has caused massive damage, it’s not just Scrooge. And it’s not for nothing that it’s pointed out in Escape from the ImpossiBin that Scrooges allies are the most “dementedly dangerous minds”. Dewey himself says it. “Is it weird that the most ‘dementedly dangerous minds’ are all friends of ours?” Even if we ignore Gyro, it is true. The Duck family and its allies have SINNED. I have never been more excited to see a series pan out. I get more anxious with every episode, every hint. The Duck Family’s disregard for others wellbeing’s will be the thing that opens the door to tackling their selfishness.
I’m so terrified of the end. In order to mend their selfishness, they need to put others first. Which, essentially, means an end to adventuring. Every attack on the city is because of them. We know this. And yes, they may fix it, but that doesn’t mean they’re not responsible for the damage they caused while doing so! The only way to stop this cycle is to end the adventures. Cease taking the risks. Scrooge won’t go down easy, but it will happen. After all, this show has been about the end this whole time. Fountain of the Foreverglades makes us see Scrooge no longer values the profit of the adventure over his family. And some of the nostalgic themes… at the end of the Trickening, when the photo of them is shown looking so old, in the worn out house I cried. Why that nostalgia and ache for the past if we’re not building up to the end itself?

hey like shout out to Jiao Liqiao, I guess, for setting up two? separate?? bases???
like on the one hand, I guess if you are planning to uhhh attic-wife your leader, even as a 'ok so plan z, none of the Seduction™ works, it's misery time', you don't want that set up in the base he is. living in.
(not that Di Feisheng actually spends a fuck of a lot of time in Jinyuan Alliance base 2: Saintess edition, given he gets out of the Jianghu ICU cave and immediately fucks off on a series of insane mid-life crisis errands, then gets amnesia'd and fucks off again with the same mid-life crisis errands But More)
and also, if you are going to set up a creepy sex dungeon trap house with Extra Torture Basement™ to attic wife said boss in, you might as well commit to the bit (which she clearly did per @bbcphile's excellent and also very upsetting meta, the dragging the bed out for display is Incredibly Distressing)
but on the other hand, like, damn girl, I know the real estate market in Xi is apparently great if you're buying cursed manors at least, but also, what the hell, you already have a base you don't need a second base, possibly you could just do a quick reno on that shit given you have literally weeks and Xi's builders apparently work at the speed of light anyway.

this is just yapping about my very indulgent fanfic feel free to ignore⭐️
.
Tamlin hits me as a very gift giving person, i feel that would easily be one of his main love languages but he always get SO flustered when someone gifts him something back so he does get a little teary eyed when Catrin (oc) gifts him a special tunic she embroidered with little items to represent their friendship and the friendship with their group as a whole (other ocs- Squid, Rosetta, and lucien ofc) ((because i think embroidery is really cool and something i want to learn more about anyway))
AND the oc i made for the fic to be the driving force is so silly and i love her dearly and one of my favorite random things i gave to her is she loves baths. You know all those fancy soaps, body washes, salts, etc (do they have bathbombs in the acotar world?) she LOVES them and she just loves a nice hot relaxing bath so one year for winter solstice Tamlin gifts her some specialty bath products from Day court. Shes ecstatic and cant wait to use them for her next bath
Friendship and platonic love is such an important thing to me and something im focusing really hard on in this fic. In my personal experience my dear friends honestly always help the most when im struggling and they may not even know it. Just their presence and love can help me so much and i just know thats such a major thing Tamlin would benefit from. anyway friendship IS magic and the spring court is basically healed by it. Yes im making this shit post to procrastinate writing chapters for said fic. enjoy

Obligatory disclaimer that I don't think this is gospel or that the complaints aren't valid bc they are and I will probably continue to complain myself, this is just me spitting into the void a few minutes after waking up while I wait for my coffee to be done. But. I sometimes suspect that a lot of people who complain about the quality of cultural media these days, e.g. movies and books etc, need to just like. Learn how to find the good shit. Is the sequel-and-rebootification bad for film culture as a whole? Yes obviously. Is the tiktokization of a lot of pop music bad for music culture as a whole? Obviously yes. However. Have you considered watching/listening to/reading something that wasn't written in a year starting with a 20? Has it occurred to you that maybe ""booktok"" is not only whatever the first person you see when you search #booktok on the app says? And that there are many people talking about all kind of excellent new releases that show there are plenty of books with literary merit still being written? Published even?
Perfectly valid complaint to be angry about the way arts and media have devolved into Content but I also think some of you are just bad at finding new stuff so you keep reconsuming the same things over and over and talking about how nothing meaningful has ever been made in the last decade.
#disgruntled octopus#maybe this is the anarchist in me but i find it frustrating to only see criticisms with no effort being put in#to build up artists who ARE trying to combat the problem#or at the very least explore the past instead of relying solely on new releases that you can see in theaters/concert/etc#this is not abt mutuals or anyone btw like this was inspired by multiple things but mostly just my lil brain first thing in the morning#and the episode of Teacup Demagogues i was listening to#TD is hosted by a tiktoker i like who recommends 'new music for old heads' and she was talking abt this exact phenomenon#ppl in her comments will be like 'no good music is made anymore' and then her whole channel is just abt sharing new(er) releases#that are likely to be enjoyed by people who like old(er) music#like. her channel is right there. you're commenting on it. there is good shit being put out you just ignore it or dont try to find it#''''everything is so commercial and soulless these days 😤😤😤''''#meanwhile they refuse to seek out anyone with less than 100k monthly listeners on spotify#or read self-pub or indie press books#or watch people's passion projects on youtube#nevermind shit being released by small indie studios#''''games are just data farming flashes in the pan made by artistic sweatshops'''' but they wont download a single indie game on steam#like. again. valid complaint overall and i am going to say that shit myself at times.#but. very frustrating counterphenomena

I really have no context or reasoning behind this, but rapid-fire headcanon: Tinker Bell was the one who built Bucky.
