so, bollywood celebrities and influencers have finally started posting about palestine and rafah which honestly is a good thing. but some woke indians have decided that this is the right time to call out the genocide of hindus happening in pakistan and bangladesh. like i get it. that's horrible too. but you were literally silent about it till yesterday. yet as soon as the palestine genocide started getting mainstream attention in india, you want to bring up other issues?? and then these people have the audacity to say that they stand with the jews in israel. like the islamophobia is jumping out and it is showing.
#i dont want to be controversial again.#but if i dont say this here i will say it to some irl person i follow who is posting this shit. and i cant have that.#its irritating me.#they legit made a 'all eyes on hindu pakistanis' story just to combat the 'all eyes on rafah' one#its painful to see atp.#desiblr

You know what we don't see a lot of in TMA'verse? The exploration of Jon's brownness. It's widely accepted that Jon is some flavor of brown in fanon but we never see him with a bindi or read that he always smells faintly of sandalwood from morning prayer to his parents and grandmother. I'd love to see fanart of a young Jon next to his tiny dadi (paternal grandmother), both wearing traditional white clothes as they pray during Narayan Bali Yagya (Hindu funeral rites for unusual deaths) for his father. Or a background picture on his desk of him and dadi, in a beautiful saffron orange and deep red sari, posing and serious at his high school graduation ceremony, his olive green dhoti peeking from behind his unzipped gown and NEHS stole, cap held carefully in his hands.
What if Martin finds out that he's more successful in getting his workaholic boss to take a meal break if he brings in Kerala food, particularly Idiyappam with Curry.
What is, once Jon has been sufficiently traumatized so like s3, he searches for comfort in childhood memories and Jon pulls out some stuff he remembers his mom and dad wearing around home when he was small, including a rather small mango mala necklace his mother wore and a couple gold bangles that match his father's heirloom ring passed down for 4 generations.
Like, he doesn't have to be Hindu (approx. 1.6% of UK identifies as Indian) but the point is we should fully embrace him being brown.
#the uk has wonderfully colorful hindi and pakistani pride and culture#also I want bb Jon to have gone to Holi with his parents and laughed and danced and thrown color and known joy#jon sims#jonathon sims#jarchivist#fanon#Hindi!Jon#hindu!Jon#tma#the magnus archives#brown jon sims

Love 'only' factor that pushed Pakistani woman to enter India to live with Hindu man: Intel agencies
While Seema was arrested on July 4 for illegally entering India without a visa via Nepal with her four children, all aged below seven years, her lover Sachin is behind bars for sheltering them.
LAHORE: Pakistan’s intelligence agencies have informed the government that love is the “only” factor that led a mother of four to sneak into India to live with a Hindu man whom she befriended through an online game platform, a media report said on Monday.
Seema Ghulam Haider from Karachi in Sindh province and Sachin Meena in India got in touch while playing PUBG in 2019 and a dramatic love story unfolded between the two living more than 1,300 km apart, in countries not too friendly to each other.
Seema, 30, and Sachin, 22, live in the Rabupura area of Greater Noida, near Delhi, where he runs a provision store, according to Uttar Pradesh Police.
“Pakistani woman Seema Haider left the country only to marry an Indian man (Sachin Meena) out of love as no other factor/motive has come to forth so far,” local Urdu daily, Jang, reported, quoting a report of the Pakistani intelligence agencies.
“According to the Pakistani intelligence agencies report, no other factors/motives except ‘love’ with Hindu Indian man appears to be the reason for leaving the country. The report has been submitted to the government,” it said.
While Seema was arrested on July 4 for illegally entering India without a visa via Nepal with her four children, all aged below seven years, Sachin was put behind bars for sheltering the illegal immigrants.
Both of them were later released from jail.
Mian Mithoo, a high-profile religious leader in rural Sindh, known for using his seminary to convert Hindu girls to Islam and even bandits, has openly threatened to punish Seema if she returns.
His supporters have also threatened to attack Hindu worship places in Seema’s village.
On Sunday there were reports of an attack on Radha Swami Darbar Temple in Sindh.
Jacobabad General Hindu Panchayat president Lalchand Seetlani and other office-bearers have condemned the attack.
Meanwhile, the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan has expressed concern over “reports that 30 Hindus have been kidnapped” in Kashmore and Ghotki.
“The HRCP is alarmed by reports of deteriorating law and order in Kashmore and Ghotki, where some 30 members of the Hindu community, including women and children, have been held hostage by organised criminal gangs,” the commission said in a tweet on Sunday.
“Moreover, we have received disturbing reports that these gangs have threatened to attack the community’s sites of worship, using high-grade weapons. The Sindh Home Department must investigate this matter immediately and take steps to protect all vulnerable citizens in these areas,” the HRCP said.

honestly what really gets me is that it's a reaction to people focusing on rafah it's not even genuine they're just islamophobic idiots they have literally nothing else going for them
https://www.instagram.com/p/C7hHA4GJ2c3/
This is wild. I genuinely do not know what to say. Dismissing the genocide, not saying a word about how indian muslims are treated, what the hell.
I saw this and it is so bloody annoying. I will never stop bitching about how sanghis prop up minority hindus for their own benefit and to make it about themselves (and not the minorities :/) anyways sanghis are so stupid always with the whataboutism
#they do not actually care about minorities they're in fact very good at hating them#it would be fine if it was started on its own but in retaliation to people's support for palestine like “what about x?” oh my god#i wonder how pakistani hindus feel about i genuinely hope they're laughing at us

i'm feeling controversial today so here's another hot take. and before you type away at your keyboards, know that this is all coming from a south asian.
white leftists have got to stop acting like christianity is the only religion that deserves to be criticized and you cannot touch any other religion because that'd be racist and bigoted. because as an indian who's watching my country progress towards hindu nationalism, this attitude doesn't help at all.
white people see hinduism as this exotic brown religion that's so much more progressive but don't know the violence of the caste system, how it others a large portion of the population on the basis of caste, literally branding them as "untouchables". they teach us in school that this problem is a thing of the past but the caste system is still alive and shows itself in violent ways. and that's not even covering how non hindus are treated in the country. muslims especially are being killed, have their houses bulldozed, businesses destroyed, and are being denied housing, our fucking prime minister called them infiltrators and there's this fear among hindu extremists that they'll outnumber the hindus in the country. portraying hinduism as this exotic religion does a disservice to all those oppressed by the hindutva ideology
similarly, white people see buddhism as this hippie religion that's all about peace but have no idea how extremist buddhists in myanmar have been persecuting the rohingya muslims for years and drive them out of the country.
if anything portraying these religions as exotic hippie brown religions is a type of orientalism itself.
and also y'all have got to realize that just because christianity has institutional power in america doesn't mean there aren't parts of the world where they are persecuted on the basis of religion. yes karen from florida who cries christophobia because she sees rainbow sprinkles on a cake is stupid but christian oppression DOES exist in non western countries where they're a minority. pakistani christians get lynched almost on a daily basis over blasphemy accusations. just look up the case of asia bibi, a pakistani christian woman who was sentenced to death on blasphemy charges because of something she said when she was being denied water because it was "forbidden" for a christian and a muslim to drink from the same utensil and she'd made it unclean just by touching it (which is ALSO rooted in casteism and part of pakistani christians' oppression also comes from the fact that a lot of them are dalit but that's a whole other discussion). and that's just one christian group, this isn't even going into what copts, assyrians, armenians etc have faced and continue to face. saying that christians everywhere are privileged because of american christianity actually harms christian minorites in non western countries.
and one last thing because this post is getting too long: someone being anti america doesn't automatically mean they're the good guys. too many times i've been seeing westerners on twitter dot com praise the fucking taliban just because they hate america. yes, the same taliban who banned education for women, thinks women should be imprisomed at home, and consistently oppresses religious and ethnic minorities in afghanistan. yes, america's war on afghanistan was bad and they SHOULD be called out for their war crimes there. no, the taliban are still not the good guys. BOTH of them are bad. you cannot pretend to care about muslims and brown people if you praise the taliban. because guess what? most of their victims are BROWN MUSLIM WOMEN. but of course white libs who praise them don't rub their two braincells together to make that conclusion.
this post has gotten too long and i've just been rambling so the point of this post is: white "leftists" whose politics are primarily america centric should stop acting like criticism of ideologies like hindutva, buddhist extremism, and islamic extremism BY people affected by these ideologies is the same as racism or religious intolerance because that helps literally no one except the extremist bigots. also america is not the centre of the world, just because something isn't happening in america doesn't mean it isn't happening elsewhere
#islamophobes do not fucking touch this post i swear#also talked more about india - and south asia in general - because i'm indian so i can speak on south asian issues more#this post got longer than i intended it#also didn't want to use the term islamist because that term has been primarily used by zionists and islamophobes#tagging all the countries i mentioned here#religion#india#pakistan#myanmar#afghanistan#rebecca talks

Jason x south asian!reader headcanons (I wrote this with a Pakistani fem!reader in mind. However, I did try to keep it neutral)
- He feeds you samosas and ties your hair for you, while your henna is drying. He has the stupidest grin plastered on his face while doing so, it makes his heart feel full
- He studies your native language to try and communicate with you and your family better. He gets really shy when he uses the wrong grammar or pronounces a word wrong
- Jason has a very special place in his heart for Urdu because it is one of the South Asian languages of poetry (I speak this one lol)
- He definitely learned Urdu, Farsi and Arabic for literary and poetic reasons, now you have to hear him recite different sonnets in multiple languages every day (so cute)
- He studied Islamic history and Hindu scriptures. It piqued his interest and if any of these religions apply to you, then it helps him understand you better
- You always make him wear kohl or kajal in his eyes and he never says no
- You sit on his lap and gently add the kajal in his waterline and he can’t help but smirk in excitement. He likes being close to you
- Jason likes to wear black kurtas. Need I say more? They hug his arms so deliciously, he looks so pretty in them
- Your dupatta (scarf) got caught on his watch one time and he couldn’t stop smiling
- He kisses your hand and calls you meri dunya (my world) and meri jaan (my life)
- He’s disgustingly cringe, he watched an old Shahrukh Khan movie with you once and did THE pose (im crying)
- Orange theory but with pomegranates
- Ultimate brown dad behaviour, let me explain, you tell him you like something and the next day there’s a million packets of it
- He’s a Noor Jehan listener and Galib quoter (me)
- Whenever you wear a lengha or any flowy outfit, he’ll spin you around before pulling you in for a kiss

so we're all just as mad (or more!) about Pakistan ordering deportation of 1 million Afghan refugees for no good reason as we are about Israel ordering evacuation of 1 million Gazans from an active war zone, right? we're all talking about how evil Pakistan is just as much? we're all taking this opportunity to talk about the founding of Pakistan and about how you can't just declare a country in the 1940's and kill all the Hindu people within your borders (and ignoring that India was also killing the Muslim people within their borders) (and also ignoring any other context re: founding and borders of India and Pakistan) and so therefore all Pakistani people are evil? and we're talking about how many people died in the partition and how many people were displaced and demanding that the grandchildren of those refugees be allowed to return and reclaim all their property? right??? we're all just as up-in-arms???? we're all going to protests and covering campuses in flags and flyers denouncing Pakistan? we're harassing random people with Pakistani family and demanding their opinions?
no?
well that's fucking fascinating. i would love to know why.

Why Gandhi is a piece of shit and you should hate him.
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi has been established in our history as a "Mahatma" which means "great soul"
This man is anything but that.
He is EVERYWHERE. He's on our currency, he's revered as a hero who saved India, and we have a mandatory holiday on October 2nd in honor of him.
If you didn't know, now you're going to get to know why he was a horrible human being. Let's begin.
This man managed to fool people Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela (among many others) into thinking he was a good person.
Here is some of the shit he's done:
In 1903, when Gandhi was in South Africa, he wrote that white people there should be "the predominating race." He also said black people "are troublesome, very dirty, and live like animals."
Refused to have sex with his wife for the last 38 years of their marriage. He felt that in order to test his commitment to celibacy, he would have beautiful young women (including his own great niece) lie next to him naked through the night. His wife, whom he described as looking like a "meek cow" was no longer desirable enough to be a solid test.
Believed that Indian women who were raped lost their value as a human.
During Gandhi's time as a dissident in South Africa, he discovered a male youth had been harassing two of his female followers. Gandhi responded by personally cutting the girls' hair off, to ensure the "sinner's eye" was "sterilised". Gandhi boasted of the incident in his writings, pushing the message to all Indians that women should carry responsibility for sexual attacks upon them.
He argued that fathers could be justified in killing daughters who had been sexually assaulted for the sake of family and community honour.
Gandhi also waged a war against contraceptives, labelling Indian women who used them as whores.
He believed menstruation was a "manifestation of the distortion of a woman's soul by her sexuality".
On 6th April 1947, he gave a speech where he said, “ If the Muslims are out there slicing through Hindu masses to wipe out the Hindu race, the Hindus should say nothing and peacefully accept death”.
He hated the great Hindu rulers, especially Shivaji Maharaj. To please the Muslims, he banned the book named ShivBhaavani which correctly depicted Islam’s intolerance and fierce fundamentalism spread by it.
Refused his wife life-saving medication (for religious reasons), but those religious reasons all of a sudden no longer applied to him when he was in a similar position.
Started a fast unto death when Ambedkar asked for separate electorates for Dalits.
Gandhi left his ailing father on his deathbed, to sleep with his wife. The child born out of this copulation died in infancy. According to Gandhi, the death of this infant was the result of this evil karma.
Gandhi, even when he claimed to be the angel of non-violence, made no efforts to prevent the British from deploying Indian troops at various locations during World War II.
Kashmir was invaded by Pakistan in 1947, the brutal Pakistani army committed heinous crimes against Kashmiri Pandits including mass rape and mass killings consequently many Pandits were forced to flee to Delhi and other places. In one incident Pandits took refuge in an abandoned mosque in Delhi. Infuriated, Gandhi threatened to fast to death if the Pandits didn't leave. The Pandits were slaughtered in a communal riot as soon as they abandoned the mosques.
Criticized the Jews for defending themselves against the Holocaust because he insisted that they should have committed public mass suicide in order to "shame" the Germans instead of fighting back. His exact words were, "But the Jews should have offered themselves to the butcher's knife. They should have thrown themselves into the sea from the cliffs. As it is, they succumbed anyway in their millions."
And this is all from a simple Internet search compiled here. I wonder what else is hiding if I do a deep dive.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

that one line about ramy's bangla being rudimentary made me absolutely sob (i'm bengali) and i wanna talk about why
there's so much to it both contextually with ramy's character as well as historically. contextually because ramy is fluent in 6 languages, an insane number of languages for one person but none of which are his mother tongue. he's described as a performer, one who knows he can't blend in so instead he stands out as a means to escape as much of the racism as he can. he gets lost in it that he almost forgets who he is; this is reflected in his language ability too – he gets so lost in his linguistic academics he just barely remembers the native language of his home place that he adores.
and honestly, you can't even really blame ramy for it at all when it was induced. it's the british who saw urdu, arabic and persian as more valuable than bangla, it's the british that make ramy put on this act so he can literally stay alive. and when you know the historical relevancies between urdu and bangla, it hurts so much that ramy was forced to forget bangla
very brief history context: after the partition, where british india was split into india, pakistan and east pakistan (now bangladesh) bangla was seen as inferior to urdu due to its hindu connections. bengalis experienced so much shit because of this (and bengali muslims are still dealing with the internalised cultural racism today honestly). pakistanis tried to make the official language urdu, even though literally everyone in east pakistan were bengali and spoke bangla, so bengalis fought back against it. we still celebrate that day today (feb 21)
so to have ramy be in this position in the 1830s where urdu was seen as superior to bangla, especially when ramy is a bengali muslim, is just extremely accurate?? and maybe it's bc we don't have much western literature where we talk about this but it's just so nice to have it acknowledged
the bangla language movement didn't happen until around the 1950s, over a century after babel's timeline, but the seeds are always there. while i do think it comes with both this islamic superiority tendency a lot of asians have (arabs i'm looking at you) and britian's imperialistic racism, i just love how it all makes sense
#babel rf kuang#ramiz rafi mirza#i'm still learning a lot abt my own culture so don't ask me for a lot of information about this lol#yk when i found out ramy was bengali it set my world off its course and i knew i had to read this book even if no bangla was discussed#i knew i was gonna get attached to him and I DID!#he just means so much to me and while he made me sob multiple times i love what kuang did with his character#also if youre pakistani lol don't try to defend yourself#you don't get to after pakistanis massacred so many bengalis during the bangladesh liberation war#babel an arcane history#babel or the necessity of violence#also i love seeing south asian characters become fandom favourites i know most babel lovers love ramy IKTRRR
