Finally, I am not the only one who noticed how rushed Paisley's redemption arc was. I know PBS Kids is ment to be for kids, but even children would notice how rushed some things are. First Stella, from Ready Jet Go: Space Camp, had a rushed character arc. Now Paisley, who didn't have much screen time as a villain might I add, immediately becomes an advocate for protecting nature. They could've at least have her rethink through her actions before changing sides.
I can tell that the show is already losing its taste. On the other hand, there are some positive things coming from the show, like Jimmy finally getting the spotlight, or fixing that annoying bright color pallette that I hated so much because it white washed Aviva at one point. But then there's the odd pacing and the cycle of plot holes and stupid stories like in No Name Dream. And I believe this is due to the fact a different studio is working on these recent seasons rather than the previous one that worked on the earlier ones.
Hell, I'm having more entertainment from the fandom's fanfictions than the actual show, especially since I've been seeing great talent and beautiful artwork from the best on Tumblr, Instagram, and Tik Tok. (Shout out to the Reprogrammed AU and Krattrastopic creators!) The fanfictions were more aware and accurate with the lore than the show itself.
But why am I complaining? I still liked the Blue and Green World special and still love the show itself. Just wished PBS Kids also cared about quality like they did in the past. If Bluey can impress all age ranges, then any kid show can. And hey, I actually wanted to see how Paisley being a good person would work in the franchise, even before the special came out.
Apologies if that sounded rude.

Sex Is as Sex Does: Governing Transgender Identity by Paisley Currah
goodreads
What the evolving fight for transgender rights reveals about government power, regulations, and the law Every government agency in the United States, from Homeland Security to Departments of Motor Vehicles, has the authority to make its own rules for sex classification. Many transgender people find themselves in the bizarre situation of having different sex classifications on different documents. Whether you can change your legal sex to “F” or “M” (or more recently “X”) depends on what state you live in, what jurisdiction you were born in, and what government agency you’re dealing with. In Sex Is as Sex Does , noted transgender advocate and scholar Paisley Currah explores this deeply flawed system, showing why it fails transgender and non-binary people. Providing examples from different states, government agencies, and court cases, Currah explains how transgender people struggle to navigate this confusing and contradictory web of legal rules, definitions, and classifications. Unlike most gender scholars, who are concerned with what the concepts of sex and gender really mean, Currah is more interested in what the category of “sex” does for governments. What does “sex” do on our driver’s licenses, in how we play sports, in how we access health care, or in the bathroom we use? Why do prisons have very different rules than social service agencies? Why is there such resistance to people changing their sex designation? Or to dropping it from identity documents altogether? In this thought-provoking and original volume, Sex Is as Sex Does reveals the hidden logics that have governed sex classification policies in the United States and shows what the regulation of transgender identity can tell us about society’s approach to sex and gender writ large.Ultimately, Currah demonstrates that, because the difficulties transgender people face are not just the result of transphobia but also stem from larger injustices, an identity-based transgender rights movement will not, by itself, be up to the task of resolving them.
Mod opinion: I haven't read this book yet, but it sounds like it might be quite interesting!

John Wilson the Scottish advocate, literary critic and author was born on May 18th 1785.
Professor Wilson was born to a wealthy family near Paisley, and studied at Glasgow and Oxford Universities.
Qualified in law, he enrolled as an advocate in 1814, but his main ambition was to write. He was a failure as a poet and novelist but found his niche in writing for Blackwood’s Magazine, a prestigious publication of the day, under the pseudonym of ‘Christopher North’.
In 1819 he was appointed Professor of Moral Philosophy at Edinburgh University, although his appointment caused some controversy. He was an influential thinker of his day, although his anti-reform views provoked opposition.
I think you can tell a lot of how well thought of a person was thought of by their legacy, the fine statue in the second pic was erected the year Wilson died and can be found near The Scottish National Galleries in East Princes Street Gardens.

Prince Fans Unite: Supporting Kamala Harris and Honoring the Legacy of Prince
In the realms of music and politics, few figures have left as indelible a mark as Prince Rogers Nelson and Kamala Harris. As the 2024 presidential race gains momentum, a vibrant community—Prince Fans for Kamala—has come together to celebrate Prince's legacy while rallying behind the Harris-Walz ticket. This movement merges a deep respect for an iconic artist with a commitment to a future shaped by creativity, leadership, and justice.
A Highway of Tribute: The Prince Rogers Nelson Memorial Highway
In 2023 Minnesota witnessed a historic moment when Governor Tim Walz signed a bill into law, officially designating a section of Trunk Highway 5 between Eden Prairie and Chanhassen as the “Prince Rogers Nelson Memorial Highway.” Marked by purple signs, this highway stands as a lasting tribute to Prince, a global music icon whose influence transcended art and extended into social activism.
Governor Walz, Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan, and members of Prince’s family gathered at Paisley Park to celebrate this milestone. The highway serves not just as a physical marker but as a symbol of Prince’s lasting impact on both the local community and the world at large. His dedication to social justice, equality, and creative freedom continues to inspire generations.
Kamala Harris: A Leader Reflecting Prince’s Values
Prince was known for pushing boundaries, challenging norms, and advocating for a better, more inclusive world—principles that resonate strongly with Vice President Kamala Harris. As the first woman, first Black woman, and first South Asian American to hold the vice presidency, Harris exemplifies the same spirit of innovation and leadership that Prince championed throughout his career.
Harris’s presidential campaign is built on a platform of justice, equality, and empowerment for all—values that mirror those Prince expressed through his music and activism. Her commitment to criminal justice reform, economic equity, and uplifting marginalized communities aligns closely with the ideals Prince held dear.
Harris’s vision for America is one that embraces creativity, leadership, and progress, ensuring that every voice is heard.
Prince Fans for Kamala: A Movement of Inspiration and Action
Prince Fans for Kamala is a movement that bridges the legacy of Prince with the promise of Kamala Harris’s leadership. This community is driven by a shared passion for honoring Prince's contributions to culture and society while supporting a candidate who embodies the same values of justice and creativity.
Prince Fans for Kamala aims to mobilize voters who recognize the importance of visionary leadership. Just as Prince broke barriers in the music industry, Harris is breaking barriers in politics, offering a future where creativity and leadership drive meaningful change.
Join the Movement: A Call to Action
As we navigate these pivotal times, the Prince Fans for Kamala community invites you to join us in celebrating Prince’s legacy and supporting Kamala Harris. Together, we can work toward a future that honors the creativity, leadership, and justice both Prince and Harris represent.
Let’s unite our voices, celebrate our shared values, and build a future where the legacies of trailblazers like Prince inspire the leaders of tomorrow. Join us in this journey by supporting Kamala Harris and making a difference in 2024. https://princefans4kamala.com

Ian Paisley: A True Inspiration for Faith and Truth.
Introduction:
In the realm of faith and truth, there are individuals whose unwavering commitment and steadfast principles leave an indelible mark on history. One such luminary figure is Ian Paisley, a charismatic preacher, politician, and fervent advocate for his beliefs. His life's journey is a testament to the power of conviction and the impact one person can have on the world.
The Early Years:
Born on April 6, 1926, in Armagh, Northern Ireland, Ian Richard Kyle Paisley grew up in a deeply religious family. His father, a Baptist minister, instilled in him a strong sense of faith from a young age. This early exposure to the teachings of Christianity laid the foundation for Paisley's life-long dedication to his religious convictions.
The Pulpit and Evangelism:
Paisley gained recognition as a dynamic and fiery preacher, captivating audiences with his passionate sermons. His eloquence and fervor attracted a large following, earning him a reputation as a charismatic leader within the Protestant community. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, Paisley's influence extended beyond the pulpit as he championed traditional Christian values and opposed what he perceived as compromising influences in society.
Political Stature:
Ian Paisley's impact on Northern Ireland's political landscape cannot be overstated. In 1971, he founded the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP), a political force that would go on to play a significant role in the country's turbulent history. His staunch opposition to any compromise with Irish republicanism earned him both staunch supporters and vehement critics.
Paisley and the Troubles:
The Troubles, a period of intense conflict in Northern Ireland from the late 1960s to the late 1990s, tested the resolve of its people and leaders. Paisley, during this tumultuous era, remained unyielding in his commitment to his beliefs. While some viewed him as a polarizing figure, others saw him as a defender of Protestant identity and a bulwark against perceived threats.
The Power of Faith:
Ian Paisley's life exemplifies the power of faith to shape an individual's character and actions. His unwavering commitment to his religious beliefs, as well as his political convictions, sets him apart as a figure who stayed true to his principles even in the face of adversity.
Legacy:
Ian Paisley passed away on September 12, 2014, leaving behind a complex legacy. His life serves as a reminder that individuals can profoundly influence the course of history when driven by genuine conviction. Whether one agrees or disagrees with his views, there is no denying the impact he had on the religious and political landscape of Northern Ireland.
Conclusion:
Ian Paisley's life is a compelling narrative of faith, conviction, and resilience. As we reflect on his legacy, it is essential to appreciate the role he played in shaping the destiny of Northern Ireland and recognise the enduring impact of his unwavering commitment to faith and truth.

"Daisies" is a Czechoslovakian film directed by Věra Chytilová in 1966. The movie is about two young women named Marie I and Marie II, who rebel against the societal norms and engage in various absurd and playful activities. The film is known for its non-linear narrative structure, experimental cinematography, and satirical commentary on consumerism, gender roles, and the political situation in all of Czechoslovakia at the time. The movie is a quirky journey, exploring themes of nihilism, government anarchy, and feminism. The film's experimental narrative structure, as well as its use of editing techniques, such as jump cuts and unconventional camera angles, influenced many American filmmakers. The film's portrayal of rebellious and non-conformist female protagonists also influenced the feminist movement in the US film industry. One example of this film breaking the societal standards especially for women, is when the two protagonists initiate a food fight at a very fancy dinner. We see Marie get up onto the table and make a mockery out of the rich feast as she wraps the drape around her and walks down the table strutting and giggling. Its influence can still be felt in contemporary films that explore themes of feminism, rebellion, and non-conformity. "Věra Chytilová’s 60s masterpiece Daisies is a brilliantly surreal trip into an aesthetic paradise, and a utopia where women are liberated from the conservative conventions of etiquette." (Olivia Single, AnOther) Vera Chytilova was a Czech filmmaker and one of the most important figures of the Czechoslovak New Wave movement of the 1960s. She was known for her experimental approach to filmmaking. This was Chytilova's most famous film. Described as an irreverent feminist manifesto. The film was controversial at the time of its release and was banned by the Czechoslovak government for its perceived subversive content. Throughout her career, Chytilova was known for her bold and provocative style, as well as her commitment to pushing the boundaries of what was considered acceptable in filmmaking. She was also a vocal advocate for women's rights and gender equality, and her work continues to inspire filmmakers around the world today. "Marie I and Marie II, dancing in front of an apple tree and then eating one of its fruits. The parallel between the film and an Edenic fall from grace is distinct – here, they lounge in their lingerie and pajamas surrounded by apples and croissants, a perfect depiction of the cardinal sins of sloth, gluttony and lust. In addition to being a wry comment on conditioned morality, the film consistently offers fashion inspiration;" (Olivia Singer, AnOther) Overall, Chytilova broke many film standards in Czech film making and inspired many people by doing so. Her confidence shone through in her personality as she worked effortlessly to protect and abide by her believes in feminism and women empowerment through her work. "Daisies" is a perfect depiction of breaking conformity and showing what keeping someone to such a high standard will do to them mentally. This movie is a 10/10 in my book and I highly recommend watching it.

The correct political position is Blue.
from the Blue lunatic fringes:
Richard Kulisz
Then there was the stupid suggestion by someone that the nuclear industry emphasize how "green" it is. Except that too is self destructive since “green” is a propaganda word owned by the enemy. And what's so laughable about green is it's the colour of money in the USA. Hence the colour of the rich. Which is of course who bankrolls the anti-industry anti-human movements.
I of course have an obvious proposal to all this aimless useless confused scratching of heads among pro-nuclear advocates. I propose we call nuclear a BLUE power source. Mmmm blue. In fact, it’s a GLOWING BLUE power source. And since we all know from cartoons and anime that Power Glows it behooves pro-nuclear advocates to use this obvious selling point.
...
The corollary is that so-called “green” energy sources don't glow because they are WEAK! And equally obvious, to me anyways, is the reason why Gaians hate nuclear energy. Because it is powerful. And this conflicts with their submissive worship of Gaia.
Robin Hanson
Since the future is far in time, thinking about it tends to invoke a far mode of thought, which introduces other far mode defaults into our image of the future. And thinking about the far future makes us think especially far. Of course many other considerations influence any particular imagined future, but it can help to understand the assumptions your mind is primed to make about the far future, regardless of whether those assumptions are true.
For example, since we expect things further away in time to also be further away in space, we expect future folk to live further away, such as in space, and to habitually travel longer distances. Since the distant past is also further away in time, we also expect past folk to live further away and travel longer distances, but the many concrete details we know about the past reduces this effect.
Since blue light scatters more easily than red, far away things in our field of view tend to look more blue. So we expect future stuff to look blue. And since blue stuff looks cold, we expect future stuff to look cold. Finally, since we expect far away things to have less detail, we tend to imagine them with fewer parts and flourishes, and less detailed textures and patterns.
The future is not paisley.
from the sensible moderates:
Carl Sagan
From this distant vantage point, the Earth might not seem of any particular interest. But for us, it's different. Consider again that [pale blue] dot. That's here. That's home. That's us. On it everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives. The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward, every creator and destroyer of civilization, every king and peasant, every young couple in love, every mother and father, hopeful child, inventor and explorer, every teacher of morals, every corrupt politician, every "superstar," every "supreme leader," every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there--on a mote of dust suspended in a sunbeam.
Kim Stanley Robinson
So they sailed west into the wind, day after day, talking or not talking. Many times they came back to what it might mean to be brown. “Perhaps the combination should be called blue,” Ann said one evening, looking over the side at the water. “Brown isn’t very attractive, and it reeks of compromise. Maybe we should be thinking of something entirely new.”
“Maybe we should.”
...
Then one winter evening they were sitting on the westernmost bench, in the hour before sunset, everything still, the Hellas Sea like a plate of glass, the sky cloudless and clean, pure, transparent; and as the sun dropped everything drifted over the spectrum into the blue, until Maya looked up from her salade niçoise and clutched Sax by the arm, “Oh my God, look,” and she put her paper plate aside and they both stood instinctively, like ancient veterans hearing the national anthem from an approaching parade; Sax swallowed hamburger in a lump, “Ah,” he said, and stared. Everything was blue, sky blue, Terran sky blue, drenching everything for most of an hour, flooding their retinas and the nerve pathways in their brains, no doubt long starved for precisely that color, the home they had left forever.
When you go out and look at the world from low heaven, it takes the form of a Blue Marble:
I claim this is something of a shibboleth. Of course, everyone loves the Blue Marble picture, environmentalists especially because the whole world is there. But Greens are loath to use this picture - they frequently fall back on little cartoons:
The world is not very green at all, but in sentimental gaian representations, it is. There's green there but once you get past the overwhelming blueness of it, it is evident that the world is as brown, and white and black as it is green. To see the world as green is to see it from below. To see it as blue is to see it from high above, and also as you see it if you lift your view ever so slightly above the horizon.
I find their use of the sunflower as a logo faintly disgusting too. Using the sun as your banner is a very bold statement, and people who do so tend to be egomaniacs. Floralising it is both a very familiar kind of false modesty and also a turning away from the sun towards an imagined likeness of it - this is another case of looking down instead of looking around, and up.
Say what you will about the blue EU and the blue UN, but they were at least founded on somewhat Blue principles of using science and technology to better man's ends.

𐚁 ✮ ⋆ ˙ LINKS: blog. pinterest.
BRIEF BIOGRAPHY:
NAME: sookie (SUH-KEY) stackhouse.
AGE: twenty-five.
GENDER & SEXUALITY: female, uses she/her pronouns. bisexual, a bit uncomfortable about it.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTORS: short, athletic build. constant tan. blonde hair and eyebrows. often in light or white clothes, partial to paisley and lace. wears gold earrings that often match the occasion. wears her hair up at work, for the tips.
CAREER: waitress at merlotte's bar.
MISC: sookie is a christian. she is aggravated by taking of the lords name in vain and can be sheltered about taboo topics.
STORYLINE: (if this paragraph looks long and boring... TLDR: read the bold.)
✮ for the three people on tumblr who also know about true blood, my interpretation is currently based off of season one sookie.
the major premise of true blood is that vampires have recently 'come out of the coffin.' the existence of a synthetic blood (tru blood) allows vampires to safely co-exist with humans, at least, they hope. sookie stackhouse is a twenty-five year old waitress in the small town of bon temps, louisiana. bon temp is a typical deep south town: sweltering, gossipy, and prejudiced.
ever since she was a child, sookie has been labeled as off. she makes conversation out of things that have never been uttered, knows what you're going to say before you say it. some say she's a psychic. the one's closest to her know that sookie is a telepath.
at age eleven, her parents tragically die. sookie and her brother, jason, move-in with their grandmother. gran is an open-minded, kind-hearted woman with a fierce protective streak; however, the family routinely ignores and excuses sookie's telepathic ability. her teachers are wary of her, her peers are afraid of her. as she grows older, sookie finds the constant stream of consciousness burdensome. everyone’s darkest secrets are laid bare before her, their innermost desires an open-book. she leaves several jobs due to the inappropriate thoughts of her bosses. spooks often tries to block out the constant talking, but she will listen when she feels she's earned the right. this is up to her discretion and is often petty. blocking thoughts can be significantly harder when she's stressed.
when bon temp's first vampire walks into the bar where she works, sookie finds out she cannot read the minds of supernatural beings. the relief of not hearing other people's thoughts is blissful to her. she actively integrates herself into supernatural spaces and is an advocate for their fair treatment.
DISCLAIMER: true blood is set in the deep south and often (mis-)handled themes of bigotry and intolerance. i'm from the south and i think a lot of the issues in the show come from real life issues in the south; however, being realistic doesn't always mean it needs to be apart of fantasy stories. like, we don't need to constantly see the confederate flag. (please, please, please stop making vampires confederate soldiers). i really love a lot of the characters, but it is clearly a product of the 2000s. i wanted to acknowledge this because i think its important to point out the flaws of their writing. i really wish that true blood could be modernized and re-written to better reflect reality and deepen the storylines, a la, amc's interview with the vampire. alas, true blood just doesn't have the potential that interview had & and that likely will not happen.

Hey. Your favorite demonic mental health awareness advocate is going to have to get a little out of character for a moment.
I really love this page but I genuinely don't know if I should keep it around anymore. I had fun using it, but no one gives two fucks about what I say anymore so there's absolutely no point in posting.
I'll probably pop up more when Adam's finally introduced. But other than the stories I wrote after snorting stuff, and the old friendships I had; I have absolutely nothing to contribute.
Can't even draw paisley

Hi, I just read your post talking about "paisley" and cultural appropriation and it was good read! I'm still confused though if as a white person wearing a paisley bandana as a neck ties is something needs more consideration and shouldn't be worn is do you think that's fine! Either way, won't be offended! Just can't seem to find any good resources online oddly enough
I don't remember this post and don't actively think about cultural appropriation that much anymore, though it was a big part of my mid-20s. I'm a big advocate for re-matriating stolen artifacts and bodies (check my loot the museums tag), but that's the closest I get these days.
I don't personally have any feelings about the paisley found in that popular handkerchief/neckerchief design. I haven't heard/seen anyone having thoughts or feelings are the ubiquity of that specific design. I assume it's fine and that its use isn't causing harm.
If someone feels poorly about using the paisley motif because of its appropriation from Persian culture, then I would suggest designing a variation. Think of the aspects and features of the paisley design that appeal to you and use those elements to design something more aligned with your culture(s) and lived experiences.
Also, here's a brilliant article co-written by C. Thi Nguyen that does a great job of re-framing the discourse around cultural appropriation

“What am I still angry about?” she asked almost as if she didn’t believe his question. “Sebastian you pretty much did the verbal equivalent of slapping me in the face and spitting at my feet just after.” She wasn’t surprised if he didn’t understand, though, the man having always seemed to be lacking in the empathy department, or at least he had within her experience with him. “It’s a shame those errands didn’t keep you there,” she muttered under her breath, not quite loud enough for him to hear, but also not quite soft enough for him not to.
Listening to the man’s reasoning of being in the same university, Paisley was unable to hold back the eyeroll the likely showed the entirety of the whites of her eyes. It was honestly a little remarkable at how much anger and frustration the other brought out in her, even to the point where she had to bite back mimicking the man at the mention of their ’mutual friend’. “Oh, is that so?” she mused sarcastically with her arms crossed over her chest. “And did you tell him the entirety of that expertise of yours?” It was unbelieve, and the woman wondered temporarily if this job was good enough to stay at. There were surely other colleges in the area that were in need of a physics professor, right? No, she wouldn’t give him that satisfaction, she’d been here for years at this point and who was he to push her out? “isn’t that sweet of you, I’m sure you’re just as two faced.”
The smile on his face didn't falter. Sebastian was an excellent actor. But he had anticipated her fury. He'd left nothing but a brief note when he decided to up and end whatever they had. It hadn't been the first time the man had left. Whenever he had grown bored, listless, he would move onto the next. For the first time with Paisley, in a rare bout of conscience, he had done so with only one thought - maybe she deserved better. Even though she had accepted in her own ways of his particular career choices, it was only a matter of time before he had to accept she would never be able to live with the lifestyle it came with.
"Well, you know how the president is. He is a man of many things and one of them is being an advocate for second chances."Eyes crinkling in that boyish charm that he knew she was all too familiar with, he adjusted his briefcase and beckoned. "As much as I've soured your mood, I'm sure, it shan't kill you to get a coffee. I insist, on me." Taking a step, he glanced back. "I can't imagine you're not curious." (@vicletnight)
