EXPO SOLO - Survivances

Du 9 au 25 mars 2023 - Galerie La Mare​, Lyon ​.

“ Forgés pour donner prise sur ce qui nous dépasse, des rituels et des croyances populaires parviennent jusqu’à nous. On appelle ces formes des “survivances” (du latin “Superstitio”) car elles perdurent malgré le discrédit du mode de pensée qui les a fait naître.

 Elles ont résisté aux efforts d’effacement, souvent au prix de métamorphoses.

Elles trouvent leur origine dans des rites biens plus anciens que l’année zéro occidentale, ancrés dans une pensée de l’humain en intime interdépendance avec les autres animaux et végétaux, où la matière peut être porteuse de volonté. On en voit les traces dans les processions carnavalesques, fêtes subversives où l’on joue à s’hybrider, où l’on brouille nos identités et quelques devantures de banques, avant de brûler une idole du pouvoir comme un sort jeté…

Entre artisanat, magie et anthropologie, l’artiste manipule le langage rituel et symbolique comme intercesseur dans le monde palpable “

July for Loki - The collage artist community has a sub community of artists who collage on playing cards. Some swap and send their work to other artists. I had my eye on the idea for a while and finally picked up a few decks, including a dragon deck for Loki. I started working on some for July for Loki last year, and He loved them (and still does). I have a very specific look I'm going for here, but this looked so awesome at this point that I couldn't resist posting now.

I salvaged an antique altar shrine and added a fresh coat of gold paint and I added the elements and sun and moon hangers.

The moment I found this amazing item I knew I needed to set up my altar on it. This beautiful piece really gives my deities the veneration they deserve.
