B-29 Crash Site, Bleaklow, Peak District
B-29 ‘OVER EXPOSED’ crash site. Also known as the Bleaklow bomber was a plane that crashed into rock formation, higher shelf stones in 1948. This was hidden behind a low lying cloud and sadly the crew perished.
Due to the location only being accessed by incredibly dangerous snake pass and marshy terrain from the road they could only justify the cost of clearing the bigger parts of debris and the crew who lost their lives. Hence why a large portion of the plane still remains scattered to this day.
The Bleaklow bomber is one of 8 plane crashes that happened on Bleaklow in the span of a decade around the 1940’s.

Hess was found dead on 17 August 1987, aged 93, in a summer house that had been set up in the prison garden as a reading room; he had hanged himself using an extension cord strung over a window latch. A short note to his family was found in his pocket, thanking them for all that they had done. The Four-Power Authorities released a statement on 17 September ruling the death a suicide. He was initially buried at a secret location to avoid media attention or demonstrations by Nazi sympathisers, but his body was re-interred in a family plot at Wunsiedel on 17 March 1988; his wife was buried beside him in 1995.[173] Hess's lawyer Alfred Seidl felt that he was too old and frail to have managed to kill himself. Wolf Rüdiger Hess repeatedly claimed that his father had been murdered by the British Secret Intelligence Service to prevent him from revealing information about British misconduct during the war. Abdallah Melaouhi served as Hess's medical orderly from 1982 to 1987; he was dismissed from his position at his local district parliament's Immigration and Integration Advisory Council after he wrote a self-published book on a similar theme. According to an investigation by the British government in 1989, the available evidence did not back up the claim that Hess was murdered, and Solicitor General Sir Nicholas Lyell saw no grounds for further investigation.[174] The autopsy results supported the conclusion that Hess had killed himself.[175][176][177] A report declassified and published in 2012 led to questions again being asked as to whether Hess had been murdered. Historian Peter Padfield wrote that the suicide note found on the body appeared to have been written when Hess was hospitalised in 1969.[178]

Linda Padfield, 28 (USA 1973)
Linda Padfield probably had no idea about Benjamin Munson’s extensive criminal record.
Tumblr media
Munson had been a back-alley butcher for years. In 1969, he was convicted of subjecting a teenage girl to an illegal abortion. He won an appeal in circuit court. When the state appealed, the South Dakota Supreme Court upheld the conviction. Munson was trying to get this decision overturned when Roe v. Wade was passed, and a court decided that the charges were moot.
After Roe v. Wade, 28-year-old Linda Padfield traveled for 5 hours to reach Munson for a newly-legal abortion. She brought her 3 other children and a friend with her on the trip, telling relatives that it was a trip to visit friends. On June 15, 61-year-old Munson performed the abortion and sent Linda back to the motel room where she was staying. He gave her no warning of the danger she was in.
The next day, Linda and her friend took the 3 children sightseeing and then started heading home. Linda got back to her hometown of Groton on June 17.
By the time the group got home, Linda was already terribly sick. She had a fever and was nauseous. She told her concerned mother (Audrey Padfield) the truth about the trip and was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen for emergency surgery immediately. A doctor noticed that Linda was showing signs of kidney failure and considered the possibility that fetal body parts were left behind.
Linda was too sick to survive. She deteriorated rapidly and died on June 18, 1973, only two days after the abortion. Dr. James Hovland, one of the doctors who treated Linda at St. Luke’s, said that he had considered that Linda might have retained fetal parts but did not pursue the possibility because she would have died while doctors were trying to make the determination.
Linda’s autopsy results were horrifying. Linda had been 5 months pregnant at the time of her abortion and her uterus still contained the rotting remains of the dead baby, who was almost whole. Munson had only torn off one arm, one leg, a piece of the skull and a section of the torso. A total of 240 grams of a decomposing fetus remained. Munson sent her home with a death sentence.
Even if doctors at St. Luke’s had performed an immediate hysterectomy, the infection was so severe that Linda couldn’t survive. In two days, the infection from the rotting corpse raged through her entire body. She was not in a condition to survive a hysterectomy.
Despite Munson’s efforts to avoid legal consequences, the case went to court. The prosecution focused on the fact that infection from that amount of retained body parts is inevitable. The Attorney General commented, “You take a three-inch leg off something, you have to know that there’s more in there than just the leg.”
The defense, however, argued that, “You’ve got to establish the standards of care before you can prove whether a doctor was culpably negligent.” The only standard of care, the defense said, was a local standard of care. What abortionists did in other areas, the defese argued, was irrelevant. Since Munson was the only dedicated abortionist in the state, whatever he did was by definition the community standard of care. Unbelievably, the judge bought it and ordered the jury to acquit.
Munson was later welcomed as a member of the National Abortion Federation. Linda Padfield clearly didn’t matter to the NAF. Neither did 18-year-old Yvonne Mesteth, who Munson killed in 1985 by leaving fetal body parts inside of her.

577,295 student visas were approved last financial year, which helped drive annual overseas migration (for 2023) to a record 518,000 people.
Most of those arriving on student visas are only here to get a job and find a permanent home in Australia. Some enroll in perfunctory courses for unwanted skills to get thru the system, while working multiple gig jobs in an attempt to get a foothold in this country.
Yet with each arrival, no new housing stock is made available, so the price of the remaining housing stock keeps increasing month after month after month.
The result is that many of these new arrivals realise they can't make ends meet. Even after having invested time and thousands of dollars in money up front to get a visa, start school, and make the move - within 6-12 months, they end up packing up and leaving the country. It almost sounds like a money-making scam setup by the Immigration department.
This is what happens when your immigration policies are not aligned with your housing policies.
Australia's immigration policies over the past decade created this mess in the Australian housing market.
Each visa that's handed out is done so in hopes that the person will stay and contribute to Australia yet politicians from both major parties have demonstrated time and again that they have blatant disregard for those immigrants who ultimately can't survive here.
As for those student visas... those are now being refused at record levels over the past 6 months (ending December 2023). Nearly one in five applications for primary and secondary visa holders were knocked as the government seeks to ease migration pressures and stop systemic rorting of the education system.
Compare that to those arriving on temporary visas below.
Immigrants on temporary work visas bounce between short term visas with some staying for a decade or more until they hit a wall.
Even after attempting to upgrade their status while in country, some have to just give up and leave.
"
Over the years, Simon has had several employees willing to sponsor him, however, the visa process requires multiple years of working for the same business.
During that time, many of the businesses have gone belly up.
"I've had so many temporary sponsorships," Simon said.
"Some were lost due to businesses being sold, going bankrupt, or closing down due to COVID."
After many of those setbacks, Simon had to start the costly and time consuming visa application from scratch.
Back in 2022, Simon secured a new sponsor, Mirano's Fuel, where he would work as a consultant chef under an employer nominated visa.
However, after paying $18,000 for a migration agent to file the paperwork, the couple recently found out their application was yet to be lodged, years later.
---
Lastly, at a macro level -
During the pandemic, the Australian economy was actually boosted by stalling population growth, but it was also helped by government payments designed to support households and businesses
It’s no surprise, therefore, that when those payments were withdrawn, and population growth returned at full throttle, real household disposable income per capita declined.
Deloitte Access Economics estimates that households are experiencing a total peak-to-trough fall of almost 9%, measured on a financial year basis. In fact, real household disposable income per capita is expected to remain below the trend seen between the 2008 financial crisis and the pandemic for at least the next five years
Tumblr media
Cutting immigration to 100k or below (in line with the amount of new housing stock being added per year) would deliver a range of immediate and material benefits:
inflation will fall faster
wage growth will stay stronger
interest rates will tumble (once inflation falls in line)
pressure will come off rents and housing
Real household disposable income per capita will boom higher.

The Curse by Etienne Paddy: Chapter One
Tumblr media
Present
I had decided to labour away at school over December break instead of heading home to celebrate the winter solstice like the rest of my friends. With sixth-year exams looming, it was a more useful application of my time. Plus, I vastly preferred schoolwork to being lodged in the crossfires of my parents’ divorce, particularly when surrounded by sarcastic jubilations of the season.
That’s not to say it wasn’t lonely. Unexpectedly lonely. My half-brother was spending the holiday with his mother and my boyfriend of a few months, Edward Minnulwood, had dumped me the night before he’d journeyed home.
And that’s how I found myself alone in the school library one day in early January, sniffling into my Herbalism notes like an idiot.
A group of Kiltrasner students barged into the library and slung their bags over the far end of my table. The cause of their excitement became apparent when a familiar figure was ushered in through the heavy oak doors like a champion, with a friend’s arm over each shoulder.
The boy in question tossed an airy look my way before turning his attention back to his friends. The reminder of his unsettling beauty triggered a knee-jerk animosity within me. A dislike that had me grating my teeth against the blow as though he’d thrown me an insult and not just a glance as the rabble approached. I tensed, gripping my pen and quickly dabbing my eyes with my sleeve.
“Duclair’s back!” the boys chanted before being shushed by Madam Padfield, the librarian, as she disappeared into the dark labyrinth of towering shelves in the seemingly endless ancient room.
I kept my head firmly downward, pretending to be absorbed in my work but really just praying they’d ignore me. I wondered what had kept Rafael from school this past term and hoped it had nothing to do with the rumours circulating about the nefarious activities of his uncle.
Whilst the majority of the group ruffled Rafael’s curly hair and slapped him on the back, Verner Asp, Rafael’s rat-faced, mud-haired and thoroughly sadistic sidekick took stock of his surroundings and pieced away from the crowd. He sauntered up the long mahogany table towards Freddie Jameson, a third-year Carisbrooke student, who had consequently turned a rich crimson.
“Oh, that was clumsy of you, Jameson. Why did you do that?” he asked in mock concern. The blonde boy looked up at him quizzically before Asp cast his arm out and swiped all of his belongings onto the floor.
I shot my gaze back to my work, hiding behind the curtain of dark brown hair fanning over my notebook. If he was picking on someone else, it only meant he hadn’t spotted me yet.
Asp’s cruelty knew no bounds and I could attest to that from experience. I really didn’t want to get involved, but Rafael was watching and that made me nervous. His right-hand man had become ungovernable of late and was clearly hoping to cling to some semblance of dominance now Rafael had returned. I sincerely hoped Jameson was not about to get caught in the middle of a chest-beating contest, but if that was the way it went, well that was the way it went.
I was skimming the page of my book, taking in nothing, when Asp found me.
“Ah, look who it is! Fleur Never-would.”
I loathed how my heart sank even though I’d heard the cruel play on my surname before — a nod to my supposed lack of allure.
Sitting up straight, I reluctantly met his eyes and forced myself to sound bold. “Do you ever tire of being such a colossal twit?”
The group roared at my embarrassing choice of phrasing and I instantly regretted opening my mouth. I noticed Rafael surveying me and I turned to meet his curious gaze. He frowned in surprise, as though he’d just remembered I even existed.
As far as everyone else was concerned, though, we had always been complete strangers. In public, his eyes had only ever slid over me as if I weren’t there, my presence no more significant than that of a door or a light switch in a room. But when he’d stopped meeting me, the finality of his absence had felt like the loss of a limb. They say taking poison in small doses can build immunity, but I’d still struggled to stomach that bitter pill when the time officially came.
To now see his attention fall upon me with purpose and interest made me feel strangely anxious, like I didn’t know what to do with myself. Judging by the way his eyes were roving over my body, I surmised that my emergence through puberty was the only reason he’d deigned to take note of me now. I folded my arms over my chest, my jaw set.
Asp swooped in once again, not yet content with the scale of my humiliation. “I’m surprised you haven’t lost your voice after a whole term of ‘Please, sir, pick me, pick me!’” He imitated me, jumping up and down with his hand in the air as everyone howled at his impression.
Cheeks hot, I clambered over the mahogany bench and made my way down to help a frozen Jameson collect his things.
“Thank you” the boy whispered, and I tried not to notice the tears in his eyes as I crouched down to pick up a stray textbook.
As I reached for it, Asp kicked it hard from under my hand, shooting it into the wall, eliciting an echoing thud for the whole library to hear. The Kiltrasners erupted once more into laughter and jeering. Burning with shame, I scooped the rest of Jameson’s belongings off the wooden floor, emptying them into the waiting cradle of the trembling boy’s arms.
“Oh dear, Everwood,” Asp tutted, his amber eyes saturated with malice. “You know what they say” he addressed his friends, “half-breeds are pretty slow.”
Feeling Rafael’s eyes on me, I steeled myself against the prickling heat of embarrassment. He’d not looked at me properly in years, only now to stand here and observe how cripplingly pathetic I’d become.
Red hot fury flew into my brain out of nowhere. It barrelled through all logic, caution and sense and I found I was withdrawing my wand before I even registered my intention.
With an aggressive flick, I sent the book hurtling towards Asp’s head. The laughter died on everyone’s tongues, with Asp barely having time to think before I jerked the book to a sudden halt, a hairsbreadth away from his throat.
“Quick enough for you, dickhead?” I quipped through gritted teeth.
The unmistakable cadence of Madam Padfield’s sharp footsteps had all students blanching, the threat of detention thundering towards the commotion. I stood there frozen, faint with shock. My fingers still gripped my wand, ready, as if one further wave could take it all back.
The boys all grappled for their bags as the footsteps reached their climax, and they dispersed promptly the minute the fiery librarian rounded the corner.
Rafael had stayed put, studying me like he was trying to unravel a difficult equation, before turning and following suit.

Yvonne Corrie Mesteth, 18 (USA 1985)
Tumblr media
18-year-old Yvonne Corrie Mesteth was a student at University of North Dakota. She would never be able to graduate.
Yvonne was pregnant in the second trimester when she underwent an abortion done by Benjamin Munson, who had already killed Linda Padfield right after Roe v Wade.
Yvonne soon had a terrible infection, kidney failure and respiratory distress. She was hospitalized at Rapid City Regional Hospital, but all attempts to save her life sadly failed and she died on July 27, 1985.
Her family was heartbroken. Yvonne was survived by her parents, two sisters and her grandfather, who hadn’t expected to outlive his granddaughter and great-grandchild.
Despite killing Linda Padfield, 18-year-old Yvonne and having a criminal record of perpetrating illegal abortions before Roe v Wade, abortionist Benjamin Munson was welcomed into the National Abortion Federation. Even more ridiculous was that when Munson was on trial for killing Linda Padfield, to so-called “Women’s Action Alliance” started a defense fund for Munson, claiming that prosecuting an abortionist for killing a patient with reckless malpractice constituted “putting abortion rights on trial.” The deceptively named WAA apparently didn’t care about taking action for the women Munson killed since Roe v. Wade apparently changed him from a back-alley butcher to a provider of “safe and legal” abortions.
Yvonne and her baby deserved better.
