Two new species of small-bodied pachycephalosaurine (Dinosauria, Marginocephalia) from the uppermost Cretaceous of North America suggest hidden diversity in well-sampled formations
Published 16th November 2023
Two new small-bodied pachycephalosaurines, Sphaerotholus lyonsi and Sphaerotholus triregnum, are discovered: one from the Dinosaur Park Formation in Alberta and the other from the Hell Creek Formation in Montana, both represented by an isolated squamosal.

The hooded pitohui (Pitohui dichrous) is a species of bird in the genus Pitohui found in New Guinea. It was long thought to be a whistler (Pachycephalidae) but is now known to be in the Old World oriole family (Oriolidae). Within the oriole family this species is most closely related to the variable pitohuis in the genus Pitohui, and then the figbirds.

Greetings Friends, Last Sunday I was walking the National Park of Nambour. The rufous whistler is a species of whistler found in New Caledonia and Australia. Predominantly a reddish-brown and grey bird, it makes up for its subdued plumage with its song-making ability. Like many other members of the Pachycephalidae, it has a variety of musical calls. @birdlifeoz @birdsofaustralia @team_ebird @best_birds_of_ig @birdwatchersdigest @birdlife.international @birds_adored @birdwatchingmagazine @nationalparkaustralia @australiangeographic @natgeo #bird #birds #abcmyphoto #natgeoyourshot #uwe_foto #australiangeographic #birdnerds #birdslife #team_ebird #birdlifeoz #birdsofaustralia #abcopen #backyardbirds #your_best_bird #bb_of_ig #birds_adored #planetbirds #thebirdingsquad #eye_spy_birds #elite_photography_page #live_love_wildlife #igbest_life #uwewullfenphotography (at Nambour, Queensland) https://www.instagram.com/p/ChCIBuQs-Ab/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Hello friend! I love your blog!
Can you tell me about poisonous birds? I trust you way more than Google, especially with its new unreliable AI...
POISONOUS BIRBS:
Hey there, so I know about Pitohuis (there are 8 species), Blue-capped Ifrit, Regent Whistler, Rufous-naped Bellbird, Arafura Shrikethrush, Rufous Shrikethrush sequester Batrachotoxins in their feathers and skin (as well as in some internal organs), obtained from their diet (most likely beetles in the genus Choresine). All are endemic to New Guinea.
Red Warblers, Spur-winged Geese, European Common Quail, Bronzewing Pigeons, and Ruffed Grouse also sequester toxins form various insects, seeds, and berries (depending on the species), and can be toxic.
Hoopoes have bacteria in their uropygial glands that produce toxins.

Crested Shriketit (Falcunculus frontatus)
...a species of shriketit (Pachycephalidae) which is endemic to the continent of Australia, where it is known to occur in open eucalypt forest and woodland. Despite their large parrot-like bill, crested shriketits feed mainly on insects and spiders. The large bill is used for bark-stripping, allowing the crested shriketit to gain access to invertebrates under tree bark.
Although F. frontatus is currently placed in the family Pachycephalidae, recent genetic evidence suggests that it belongs in its own family Falcunculidae. The three subspecies of F. frontatus which all have disjunct ranges are also sometimes given full species status.
