Ok so I feel like the best way to combat the deluge of recasts is to promote more affordable doll brands, so I'm gonna give it a shot!
Here's a list of some more affordable legit bjd brands, their general price ranges, and where to buy them! All of these are complete dolls (body+head). The lowest prices listed are from their smallest sizes no faceup, and the highest prices will be largest with faceup if they offer it. Prices can vary between dealers. (Please add more if you know some, especially for outside the US!)
Also some of these upper prices seem insanely high because they include any 70cm beasts they have as well, but I mainly judged these based on the 1/4 dolls being under or around 300 with faceup, since that's typically the most popular size.
Qianhe ($70-116) 1/6, 1/5, and 1/4 male and female resin blind box bjds. Realistic style. Available on Janesdolland, and until 8/02 you can choose the head you want from the blind boxes.
Sprouting Dragon ($68-138): 1/6 and 1/4 female resin bjds. Anime style. On Janesdolland.
UFDoll ($56-155): 1/6, 1/4, and 1/3 PVC bjds, both male and female, both anime and realistic available. The 1/6 fullset blindbox dolls are available on Kikasgoods and Janesdolland. Others are on Janesdolland and LegendDoll.
Evantasy ($125.80-412.05): 1/6, 1/4, and 1/3 resin bjds, all female but 1. Anime style. On Janesdolland and LegendDoll.
ImomoDoll ($15-145): 1/12, 1/6, and 1/4 vinyl mjds. Both males and females. Anime style, good sub for MDDs and Puyoodoll. On Janesdolland, New Clover Singing, and LegendDoll.
SweetyDoll ($110-217): 1/6, 1/5, and 1/4 female resin bjds. Anime style. On Janesdolland. Also look like Puyoodoll.
BonBon Galaxy ($49-259): 1/12, 1/6, and 1/4 male and female resin bjds. Both anime and realistic. On Alice's Collections, Janesdolland, LegendDoll, and the tinies are on Kikasgoods.
Guard Love ($169-285) 1/6 and 1/4 resin bjd. Both males and females. Both anime and realistic. On Alice's Collections, Janesdolland, New Clover Singing, and LegendDoll.
Xaga Doll ($152-504): 1/8, 1/6, 1/4, and 1/3 resin bjds. Both males and females, both anime and realistic. On Alice's Collections, Janesdolland, and LegendDoll.
Asleep Eidolon ($198-554): 1/6, 1/4, 1/3, and 70cm resin bjds. Both males and females. Realistic style. On Janesdolland and LegendDoll.
Tinyfox ($168-289): 1/6 and 1/4 PVC mjds. Gender neutral and females. Anime style. All come as fullsets. On Janesdolland, New Clover Singing, Kikasgoods, and LegendDoll.
FairyCastle ($169-669): 1/6, 1/4, and 75cm resin bjds. Both male and females. Realistic style. On Janesdolland and LegendDoll.
True Love ($159-305): 1/6, 1/4, and 1/3 resin bjds. Both males and females. Realistic style. On Janesdolland and LegendDoll.
Resinsoul/Bobobie ($85-330): 1/12, 1/6, 1/4, 1/3, and 70cm resin bjds. Both males and females. Realistic style. Specializes in fantasy parts and skintones. On Denver Doll Emporium.
Doll Leaves ($149-510): 1/6, 1/4, 1/3, and 70cm resin bjds. Both male and females. Realistic style. On Alice's Collections, Denver Doll Emporium, and LegendDoll. Somewhat artsy doll vibe.
Gem of Doll ($155- 560): 1/8, 1/6, 1/4, 1/3, and 70cm resin bjds. Both males and females. Realistic style. On Alice's Collections, New Clover Singing, and LegendDoll.
Huajing Doll ($120-495): 1/8, 1/6, 1/5, 1/4, 1/3, and 70cm resin bjds. Both males and females. Realistic style. On Alice's Collections, New Clover Singing, and LegendDoll.
Myou Doll ($138-428): 1/8, 1/6, 1/4, and 1/3 resin bjds. Both males and females. Realistic style with 1 anime doll available. On Alice's Collections, Denver Doll Emporium, and LegendDoll. Similar look to Volks SDs imo.

what's the difference between all of the different type of figurines? like, scale figure, price, prize figure, figma, garage kit — all of that? i'm new to collecting and i have no idea what is what and what is good and not good 😭
(cont: "OH! and the popup parade figures! how are they different from. say, a scale figure? sorry if this is bothersome!")
welcome to the hobby anon! i'll make a list for you :)
scale figure ; these are called scale figures because they are based on an accurate scale (for example miku is 158 cm so an 1/8 miku scale would be 158 divided by 8 = 19.75 cm). they are usually higher quality and more detailed and therefor more expensive. example: a miku 1/7 scale figure.
prize figure ; these are called prize figures because they can typically be won in arcade games or lotteries in japan. these are lower quality, cheaper and don't have an accurate scale. example: a miku prize figure.
nendoroid ; these are small figures in a chibi style (big head small body) with interchangeable parts and face plates produced by good smile company. example: a miku nendoroid. there are different sub-types of nendoroids too, like nendoroid petit (a smaller, simpler version, more like a trading figure. example), nendoriod dolls (nendoroid heads with a porpotionate body, you can dress these in little clothes. example) and nendoroid swacchao (literally just sitting nendoroids. honestly just buy a normal nendoroid. example)
figma ; these are posable action figures by max factory/good smile company. they are designed to a 1/12 scale so they are quite small and also known to be quite fragile. example: a miku figma.
pop up parade ; this is a figure line by good smile company made to be affordable and accessible. i think the idea is good but sadly the quality can sometimes turn out bad. i would always recommend waiting till a pop up parade fig releases so you can see buyer's reviews/pics before ordering. example: a miku pop up parade.
trading figure ; a small simple figure, you can often buy these in sets or in a gashapon machine. example: a miku trading figure.
garage kit ; these are fan made resin kits that you have to assemble and paint yourself (or you can commision an artist). these are often very rare and expensive because they are sold in very limited quantities for a very short period of time. some garage kits get turned into offically licensed pvc figures, which is very exciting if you've been sad you're unable to get a certain garage kit! example: a miku garage kit (to be clear: the pic is painted and assembled but you would receive this in small white pieces)

Hello, Anon, this is your Oldie Chinese Diaspora Anon™️. I am sorry to keep you waiting. As you’ve probably noticed, vinyl and non-resin dolls are usually not my forte. It took a while to dig up some information for you, but I hope to be able to answer your questions.
The advent of “Cheaper, affordable MJDs” didn’t come from the desire to make BJDs affordable. In fact, the technology that really elevated the production of this kind of MJDs started from what we understand as vinyl collectibles. These small figurines are made from a combination of PVC powders as well as a series of other emulsifiers, lubricators and activators (From the factory that produces them, here: http://www.dgzhonglinhb.com/news_content-859681.html ) Different companies have slightly different recipes, which would explain the different pliability of their final products. The technology was first created as a way to create memorabilia that are of limited edition and they were first considered as collectibles. They’re known internally as “Urbanvinyls” and include signed trinkets that can go for hundreds, if not thousands of dollars. Some examples would be KAWS, Kidrobot, Tokidoki, Bearbrick etc.
With the rise of “Made in China” soft power, the internally patriotic sentiment had fostered local artist-designed vinyl collectibles, which had eventually ballooned into the blind box craze that we see in the last 4-5 years. It also opened a door for vinyl/PVC based MJDs. I do not think they were specifically made to usurp the DD/SmD market, but since “moe sells”, a lot of the new doll companies go with the cute, anime-inspired aesthetic while the blind boxes cater to more design elements. These newly designed MJDs tend to be small, usually 1/12 and 1/6; larger ones exist, but they are rare. In all, they are created to be much more like their direct inspiration, the “blind box collectibles” than what we would usually consider to be articulated dolls. It also meant their target demographic is very different as well. The lower price point allows more people to impulse buy out of FOMO; these are things you buy on a whim instead of saving up to buy.
In this arena, Imómó is not alone in terms of aesthetic, pricing or packaging. Other companies in this group include Hüa Jüan, Tïny Fóx, UFdóll, CNDóll, Kimdóll, Pópmilk, Mónst and the upcoming YünLai/LückyDoll, etc (but not YMY – who has lost a battle with Piccodo for copying their body design recently). These dolls are created with a higher number in circulation in mind – but still limited enough to stimulate the FOMO behaviour – with shared features (sharing bodies, design elements, etc). To keep the production cost down, these dolls would be considered rather threadbare compared to BJDs. I have seen box opening videos where the floating “blind box” heads were packaged in a brown shipping box and wrapped around in clear plastic bags with no other packaging material. The “accessories” for these dolls are usually close to none as well – no or very simple COAs, basic box, air-filled tubes instead of fabric cushions, etc.A snapshot in time in online stores shows that Imómó is definitely not an outlier in the new era of MJDs: https://weibo.com/1448114577/Nj9fqfog3
https://www.dollyteria.com/product-list/58?page=1
If there’s something that really made Imómó stand out, it was the rumours that spread within Chinese doll collectors earlier in the summer of 2023 about the company not issuing legitimate receipts (usually with the intention to cook their books to pay less in taxes). They accuse Imómó of being a “Three Nothings” company (no date of manufacture, no QC and no source factory) with really awful customer service. They had registered the company as an “overseas-based” one so they would be in a different tax bracket. Some collectors also accuse the owner and their family members infiltrating doll collector groups to hype up their own products and downplay the complaints. A popular agent, SWDólls, were also implicated in helping them to not issue traceable receipts. (Details and screen grabs can be found here: https://weibo.com/7303299294/N8lHE6wGE?type=repost ) I have also heard of owners who complain about the parts not fitting well, the seamlines were wide and uneven as well as other imperfections that should’ve never passed QC, if there was a QC.
I understand that most of us, who are looking in from the outside, would wholly welcome a new era of articulated dolls that are affordable. They are a great entry point for people who want to get into BJDs or just want to collect these dolls on their own. I personally think they are great the way they are, because they are starting to populate a brand-new market for people who like dolls in general. However, the first company that most folks encounter in this group was probably Imómó. I cannot comment on the accusations made by the Chinese collectors; all I can say is, I am hoping that the other named companies start to make headway into the overseas market. We’d been waiting.
Note: The write up here didn’t include previously existing vinyl dolls such as Azóne and Obitsü or the vinyl versions of resin dolls such as Kinókó Jüice and Püyüdolls. This write-up only includes MiC, PVC-based, original, MJDs. My understanding is that they are not on par with the company in question in terms of price range, target market and country of origin. I didn’t think they’d make for a fair comparison, but your mileage may vary.

Perforated agricultural film products Between the conventional coating and the perforated film, users often choose the non-perforated type because they are significantly cheaper. Pre-perforated coatings are more expensive not because the cost of the perforating equipment is too high, but because this perforation will slow down the overall system productivity considerably. However, in our opinion, the high price of these products is completely worth the performance they bring. If you've ever used mulch for your growing work, you'll understand that punching holes for seeds or seedlings is a tedious and time-consuming task. Before the advent of perforated mulch, farmers around the world thought of many ways that this perforation could be done faster and easier.
On the smallest and simplest scale, they use knives, scissors or any other sharp object to make a cross in the membrane, then fold the excess plastic underneath to create holes shaped like square. This manual folding of 4 pieces of plastic takes a lot of time, the strength of the film is also weakened and it is easy to tear at the location of the cuts.
More advanced cutting tools for making circular holes in the coating have also been invented. Old milk cans are drilled with 2 small holes and inserted electrical wires to make handles, then hot coals are inserted. When the can of milk is hot enough, the farmer carries it away and places it on top of the mulch already spread in the garden, in the places where they want to drill holes. The plastic at this location will melt into the shape of the bottom of the box, and another farmer can go behind to collect the excess plastic. Plants or seeds can also be transplanted at this time.
In the same way as above, there are places where it is very popular to use wire mesh frames in old car air filters, especially those of light trucks and pickup trucks. The sharp edges on the mesh combined with the temperature of the coal inside will cut through the plastic film more easily. Instead of coal, one can also use kerosene or scrap plastic, or whatever as long as they are capable of burning for a long time.
Some people also use old PVC pipes, using a grinder to cut the pipe edges into a serrated shape to create a hole punching mold. When we forcefully press the water pipe into the covered ground, we will also get round holes like other methods. However, in hard areas, the plastic saw teeth will easily wear or break. Currently, metal punching tools with a similar design have also been sold a lot on e-commerce platforms. There are even variations that use electricity from the battery to heat. However, no matter how creative these tools are, they are still manual, still consuming a lot of labor to perform on large agricultural lands. To cater for farming on such a scale, automatic agricultural film punching machines have been built. They are integrated right on the film production line, to produce pre-perforated agricultural films. Machined perforated agricultural film will have holes with uniform size and spacing according to pre-set parameters. These distances will be calculated to leave the most reasonable space for the growth of the plant's roots. Currently, our Khang Loi company has invested in machinery system to produce perforated agricultural films, perforated on both transparent films and 2-layer films with one black side and one side. grey. Although our large format plastic films or agricultural mulch can reach up to 8 meters wide, our mulch punching machine currently only works on films up to a maximum size of 8 feet. 3 meters. We will give you the option of 1 to 4 rows of holes. Each hole is 8cm in diameter and the distance between holes is customizable. Our perforated agricultural film products use virgin resin as the main material, blended with special additive formulations to increase UV resistance and durability. Flexibility is also an advantage worth mentioning. This property makes our products resistant to the tension that occurs during installation, and is compatible with all mechanical punching operations, seeding operations, seedling without worrying about damage. membrane will be torn. Americans can never unsee the Chinese balloon—that’s the real danger (France Inter) The Chinese spy balloon shot down over the U.S. this week embodies the “Chinese threat” seen by many Americans. The most worrying thing in this case is not the balloon, but what it symbolizes. Shot down on Saturday by an American jet over the Atlantic after it drifted over U.S. territory, the balloon wasn’t a threat in and of itself. It’s a toy compared to the arsenals held by both countries. Still, this almost obsolete balloon has come to symbolize the “Chinese threat” that Americans hear about day and night. Until now, this threat was abstract, distant. It now has a face, in the form of this Moon-like balloon that appeared in the Montana sky, drifting above the state’s nuclear silos. The main effect of this symbolic appearance is to have raised anti-Chinese fever among the American political class, as well as strong, unanimous approval for the White House’s decision to postpone Blinken’s trip to Beijing—even at the risk of allowing an already tense relationship to deteriorate further. The balloon could set off a kind of “butterfly effect” of a small incident that leads to a much more dangerous showdown.
China claims a second balloon (Foreign Policy) Beijing says that the giant balloon that was spotted above Latin America does indeed belong to China, and claimed that it was used for flight tests. China said the balloon had “seriously deviated” from its planned route and that it was over Latin America “by mistake.” China has also expressed outrage that a similar balloon, which was above the United States for much of last week, was shot down by U.S. forces. China has since said it “reserves the right” to deal with “similar situations.”
Ohio Train Derailment (1440) Authorities in Ohio yesterday released toxic chemicals into the air from five tanker cars of a derailed train to prevent an explosion along the border of Ohio and Pennsylvania. The train, which had been carrying hazardous materials, went off the tracks Friday night in East Palestine, Ohio, causing a large chemical fire that has continued to burn. The area’s nearly 5,000 residents were ordered to evacuate Sunday. No injuries have been reported. The five cars were transporting the industrially produced chemical vinyl chloride, which is used to make polyvinyl chloride, or PVC, a hard plastic resin in plastic products. The chemical is associated with an increased risk of liver, brain, and lung cancers, among other diseases. As part of the controlled release of the chemical, a small charge was used to blow a hole in the cars, allowing the chemical to go into a trench and burn off before being released into the air.
$17,000+ (WSJ) The median price to put an infant in daycare for a year in a major U.S. metro area. Care costs can be nearly a fifth of median family income in high-cost, large cities, the Labor Department found. In less-populated counties, the median annual price is $8,000 a year.
Chile battles deadliest wildfires on record as heatwave grips (Reuters) Chilean firefighters were battling to hold back forest fires on Monday as authorities said hot and dry weather would continue this week, potentially exacerbating what are already the deadliest blazes in the country’s recent history. The fires, which have consumed 270,000 hectares (667,000 acres) of land, have killed 26 people so far in south-central Chile, and already made 2023 the second worst year in terms of hectares burned after the so-called “fire storm” that hit the country in 2017. The state National Forestry Corporation reported that as of Monday morning there were 275 active fires, of which 69 were currently in combat. Chile is in the grip of an over decade-long period of dry weather, which the World Meteorological Organization called a “mega drought” last year, adding it was the longest in a thousand years and marked a major water crisis. The heat wave and strong winds have caused a rapid spread of the flames during the Southern Hemisphere summer season.
French protesters hold more strikes over pension changes (AP) Public transportation, schools and electricity, oil and gas supplies were disrupted on Tuesday in France as demonstrators were taking to the streets for a third round of nationwide strikes and protests against the government’s pension reform plans. Last week, an estimated 1.27 million people demonstrated, according to authorities, more than in the first big protest day on Jan. 19. More demonstrations, called by France’s eight main unions, were planned for Saturday. Rail operator SNCF said train traffic was severely disrupted Tuesday across the country, including on its high-speed network. International lines to Britain and Switzerland were affected. The Paris metro was also disrupted.
Outnumbered and Worn Out, Ukrainians in East Brace for Russian Assault (NYT) In a tiny village in eastern Ukraine at the epicenter of the next phase of the war, Lyudmila Degtyaryova measures the Russian advance by listening to the boom of incoming artillery shells. There are more and more of them now. And they are coming more frequently, as Russian troops grind their way forward. Russia’s military is preparing to launch a new offensive that could soon swallow Ms. Degtyaryova’s village of Nevske, and perhaps much more in the eastern Ukrainian region known as the Donbas. But already the impact of Russia’s stepped-up assault is being felt in the towns and villages along the hundreds of miles of undulating eastern front. Exhausted Ukrainian troops complain they are already outnumbered and outgunned, even before Russia has committed the bulk of its roughly 200,000 newly mobilized soldiers. And doctors at hospitals speak of mounting losses as they struggle to care for fighters with gruesome injuries. Two weeks ago, a Russian shell landed in Ms. Degtyaryova’s yard, and as she contemplated her future over the weekend, the remains of her barn still smoldered.
Turkey, Syria quake deaths pass 9,500 (Reuters/AP) Overwhelmed rescuers struggled to save people trapped under the rubble as the death toll from a devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria rose past 9,500 on Wednesday, making the quake the deadliest in more than a decade. Turkish authorities say some 13.5 million people were affected in an area spanning roughly 450 km from Adana in the west to Diyarbakir in the east, and 300 km from Malatya in the north to Hatay in the south. In Syria, authorities have reported deaths as far south as Hama, some 100 km from the epicentre.
Race to find survivors as quake aid pours into Turkey, Syria (AP) Search teams and aid from nearly 30 countries poured into Turkey and Syria on Tuesday as rescuers working in freezing temperatures and sometimes using their bare hands dug through the remains of buildings flattened by a powerful earthquake. But with the damage spread over a wide area, the massive relief operation often struggled to reach devastated towns, and voices that had been crying out from the rubble fell silent. “We could hear their voices, they were calling for help,” said Ali Silo, whose two relatives could not be saved in the Turkish town of Nurdagi. Unstable piles of metal and concrete made the search efforts perilous, while freezing temperatures made them ever more urgent, as worries grew about how long trapped survivors could last in the cold. Snow swirled around rescuers in Turkey’s Malatya province. More than 8,000 people have been pulled from the debris in Turkey alone, and some 380,000 have taken refuge in government shelters or hotels, said Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay.
Earthquake Strikes Syrian Region Already Mired in Humanitarian Crisis (NYT) Once again, Syrians heard the roar and thud of buildings coming down, once again saw dust rising from the mounds of gray, jagged concrete and twisted metal where houses and offices had stood. Once again, people dug in the ruins with their hands, hoping, often in vain, to save the people they loved. Across northwestern Syria on Monday, apartment blocks, shops, even entire neighborhoods were wiped out in seconds by a powerful earthquake, in scenes that were all too familiar to a region devastated by more than a decade of civil war. Millions of people displaced by the years of fighting have fled to the north. They sheltered in tents, ancient ruins and any other place they could find after their former homes were destroyed. The economic collapse the war brought on had made it impossible for many of them to get a decent meal. This winter’s fuel crisis had them shivering in their beds, without heat. Syria’s wrecked infrastructure had caused thousands to fall sick with cholera in recent months; the ruin of its hospitals meant many could get no health care. Then came Monday’s earthquake. “Anywhere else in the world this would be an emergency,” a spokesman for the International Rescue Committee said. “What we have in Syria is an emergency within an emergency.”
Putting That Shiny New Law Into Use (NYT) On Monday, the trials for 47 Hong Kong pro-democracy leaders began. The group of activists, lawmakers, and academics had all planned to run for Hong Kong’s local legislature in 2020, just one year after the city was disrupted by mass protests calling for freedom from China. All are expected to face prison sentences ranging from three years to life behind bars. “The trial of the 47 represents a turning point in the crackdown because it reveals the true purpose of the national security law,” said one Hong Kong expert. “They’re not targeting a small minority of people throwing petrol bombs. Those people have already been arrested. Instead, they’re targeting the legitimate opposition, people who believed there was still a little bit left to defend Hong Kong’s autonomy and freedom.”
U.S. firms in Taiwan making ‘contingency’ plans amid China tensions (Reuters) Almost half of companies surveyed by the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Taiwan are revising or plan to revise their business continuity plans amid tensions with China, while a growing number reported being impacted by those strains. China, which views democratically-governed Taiwan as its own territory, has been stepping up military drills across the Taiwan Strait since then-U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi visited Taipei in August. In a survey released on Tuesday, which took place between Nov. 15 and Dec. 16, AmCham Taiwan said 33% of respondents said their operations had been “significantly disrupted” by the increase in tensions. While what it termed “personal anxiety” about increased military activity or tensions remained flat between August and December, 47% of companies said they either have revised or plan to revise business continuity plans “to address the new geopolitical climate.”
South Koreans wonder: Will the U.S. still protect us from North Korea? (Washington Post) The mood around Unification Village, just south of the inter-Korean border, has grown tense the past two years as North Korea ramps up its ballistic missile tests. Most recently, North Korean drones even infiltrated the border. “It is time we went nuclear,” said Lee Wan-bae, who has lived for 50 years in the village, just three miles south of the Military Demarcation Line that marks the official border between the two Koreas. For decades, Lee has had a front-row view of the fluctuating border tensions amid failed efforts to disarm North Korea. “It increasingly looks like matching the nuclear threat from North Korea is the solution that will bring long-desired stability to our village life,” Lee said. With North Korea threatening to strike the South with nuclear weapons and no sign of a return to denuclearization talks, South Koreans are increasingly debating whether they can still trust the United States to protect them in case of war on the peninsula. The South Korean public has become ever more supportive of having their own nuclear weapons, a sentiment that was once considered fringe but is now mainstream.

Allyl Chloride Prices Trend | Pricing | News | Database | Chart
Allyl Chloride is a vital compound in the chemical industry, primarily used in the production of polymers, resins, and various specialty chemicals. As a key building block, it plays an essential role in creating products such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC), which is widely used in construction, healthcare, and consumer goods. The market for allyl chloride is influenced by a multitude of factors, including raw material prices, production capacities, global demand, and regional economic conditions. Understanding the dynamics of allyl chloride prices is crucial for businesses involved in the chemical manufacturing sector, as fluctuations can impact production costs and profitability.
The production of allyl chloride is typically carried out through the chlorination of propylene, a major raw material. This process can be impacted by the availability and cost of propylene, which, in turn, affects allyl chloride prices. Propylene is derived from crude oil refining and natural gas processing, so its price is subject to changes in the oil market and supply chain disruptions. During periods of high crude oil prices or geopolitical instability that affects oil production, the cost of propylene can rise, leading to increased production costs for allyl chloride and, consequently, higher market prices.

In addition to raw material costs, the market for allyl chloride is also driven by demand in key industries such as the polymer and chemical sectors. The rise in demand for PVC, driven by construction and infrastructure projects, significantly impacts the need for allyl chloride. When global economic conditions are favorable and construction activities surge, the demand for PVC and, subsequently, allyl chloride experiences an upswing. On the contrary, during periods of economic uncertainty or recession, demand can contract, leading to a decline in allyl chloride prices. The demand for allyl chloride is also influenced by other applications, including the production of glycerol, herbicides, and pharmaceuticals. Diversification in applications helps stabilize the market, as reliance on a single industry reduces vulnerability to sector-specific downturns.
Production capacity and technological advancements are also significant factors affecting allyl chloride market prices. The expansion or reduction of production facilities by key manufacturers can influence market stability. A large-scale increase in production capacity can lead to a surplus of allyl chloride, causing prices to drop. Conversely, a reduction in production due to environmental regulations, maintenance issues, or financial constraints can create a supply shortage and push prices higher. The chemical industry is also seeing a gradual shift toward more sustainable and environmentally friendly production methods. As regulations tighten and stricter environmental standards are enforced, producers may face increased costs to comply with these requirements, impacting the overall pricing structure.
Regional variations in the allyl chloride market can be attributed to the different stages of industrial development and the availability of raw materials. Asia-Pacific is one of the most significant markets for allyl chloride, driven by the robust chemical manufacturing industry in countries like China and India. The demand for allyl chloride in this region is often tied to the growth of the construction, automotive, and electronics industries. China, being a major producer and consumer of allyl chloride, has significant influence over the global market, with its production capacities often affecting pricing trends worldwide. On the other hand, North America and Europe, while substantial consumers of allyl chloride, may see different pricing structures due to varying production costs and environmental regulations. The presence of leading chemical manufacturers in these regions often dictates market behavior and pricing strategies.
Price forecasts for allyl chloride are subject to changing conditions, including shifts in the global economic environment, raw material price trends, and technological innovations. Analysts predict that the global allyl chloride market will continue to experience price volatility due to ongoing uncertainties surrounding energy prices, supply chain logistics, and international trade policies. Additionally, as the world moves towards more sustainable practices, innovations in green chemistry could alter production techniques and potentially lower production costs over the long term. However, these changes will likely be gradual, with short-term fluctuations being more common in the foreseeable future.
The impact of environmental and sustainability concerns cannot be underestimated. The chemical industry is increasingly being urged to reduce its carbon footprint and adopt more eco-friendly practices. Compliance with these environmental standards may result in higher operational costs, which are often transferred to consumers in the form of higher prices for allyl chloride. Moreover, investments in technology to lower emissions and improve efficiency could influence the market by either driving up costs initially or stabilizing prices in the long run as processes become more streamlined.
In conclusion, the market for allyl chloride is multifaceted, with prices being influenced by raw material costs, production capacities, geopolitical and trade dynamics, demand from various industries, and evolving environmental regulations. Companies operating in this sector must stay vigilant and adapt to changes to mitigate risk and seize opportunities. The ongoing shifts in global trade, raw material pricing, and technological advancements will shape the future of the allyl chloride market, requiring manufacturers and consumers to remain agile to navigate this ever-changing landscape effectively.

Hello, folks of the TBC, this is your Oldie Chinese Diaspora Anon™️ again. I think this may be one of those rarer cases where I am not going to talk about recasts. But I hope this is still of some interest to you. As we usually say, to be forewarned is to be forearmed, and that’s definitely the case with high-ticket purchases, I think.
A while ago, a series of conversations we’ve had concerned PVC vs resin as doll material. I mentioned that the reason why PVC is not usually used as the base material for internally strung dolls has something to do with the inherent properties of the material.
In that conversation, I mentioned that PVC has been used as the basis of certain blind box dolls as well as a company known as ÜƑDoll. At that moment, I mentioned that since both companies are rather new, I do not know enough about these dolls to speak on them. But now, I have a little bit more information. And perhaps you’ll find them as fascinating as I do.
A Chinese doll collector bought one of ÜƑDoll’s larger, PVC, strung dolls. It arrived late last year. This person shared some photos of their unboxing and they were quite unhappy. The material tends to stain, so the person showed photos of staining of their brand-new doll. They mentioned that there were black dots and spots all over the body, including 3 just on the head itself. Unfortunately, there were no photos for this part. They also mentioned that the material is also prone to cracking (which is something we also speculated earlier). The doll’s feet were filled with tiny cracks that had turned black. The PVC is a softer material, so they reported a series of scratch marks found on their doll, some deep enough to be felt by light touch. The mold injection process, if not handled well, will lead to streaking in the doll surface (see on the calf photo). And finally, the joints can be warped due to the tension in the strings. This can be seen on the last photo in the thigh joints. [Mod: photo links didn't work, alas, maybe you need to be logged in to see, I just get a logo]
What was also not shown was the nature of easy staining makes faceups quite difficult. The owner mentioned that many faceup artists refuse to work with PVC heads because it was very difficult to erase previous faceups without staining (and one risks warping the material of the head with alcohol or other solvents).
I have a feeling that these issues are due to the PVC material in specific. It means that the larger the strung doll, the more prominent these issues are going to be (this owner bought a 1/3 doll). The smaller blind box dolls do not seem to have as many issues – or these issues have not been found yet. Some of the commentators conceded that PVC is a much cheaper material which contributed to the lower price point for these dolls, but there are real drawbacks to using PVC. If this is something you cannot accept, then a PVC strung doll is definitely not for you. I hope this follow up was of some use to you, my fellow TBC members. Happy collecting!
