7/5 update
Mom was doing good today, her hands are getting more and more movement and she seems more wiling to participate in therapy and wheelchair time, but this week was vacation for many working. I don't always know what happens while I'm gone, but I know we are going in the right direction. (also! leg movement is happening!!)
Speaking of myself I have two rewards systems that help me do things I either do not like, or in which executive dysfunction says "no"
I have a litterbox punch card for one. Every ten cleanings (I clean every other day, doing it daily is a too hard and tbh not needed for my cats) I learn a ten dollar gift card to psn. (PlayStation funds)
Done this enough to earn 60 dollars so far, and learned a lot about how my brain works. Rewards help me do the shit that needs done.
The other punch card I have, is more like a gaming chart. My goal is to play games three days a week for minimum 30 minutes. I love gaming, but I'm in a bit of a slump and my depression/anxiety makes it hard to engage. So far this has been a lil struggle, but I wanna eventually make it routine as I thrive on a schedule. I earn one doordash order for every week I complete three or more days of gaming.
I also did a lot of socializing this week with two picnics. So that's good enrichment lmao but otherwise? I manage and am probably doing better than I think I am.
Thank you all for caring about me and my mom. I know I'm privileged to have a mother and father who both support and love me, and that not everyone is as lucky. I never expected though, the outpouring of love and support. It means a lot. <3

I recently finished Lies of P and it was amazing! So much love put into making this game like a FromSoft title, but also its own unique experience. If someone told me this was a genuine FromSoft title, I definitely would have believed it! The developers did such a fantastic job on everything - the art style, the music, the combat mechanics, the level design, the lore/setting, the characters...everything was stellar! The game is such a creative take on the story of Pinocchio...and the end credits teased a sequel or DLC based on the Wizard of Oz?! I'm excited! 😃
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm only a few trophies away from getting them all on PSN. I save scummed a bit on my first playthrough to get the trophies for the "good" and "bad" endings (omg, the bad ending is so messed up...I literally wanted to cry 😭) So the only trophies I need are the ones for the "tell the truth" ending, get all the special weapons, get all the records, and get all the cryptic vessel rewards. Should be able to do that on my next playthrough in the not so far future!

Played a bit more cyberpunk today before my nephew got here and then after he went up to his room
I'm starting to enjoy it a bit more now I've done a few gigs and figuring out how I want to play my character when I have the choice
Still haven't put any points into anything yet though. The 2 things I'm enjoying don't really mesh together as far as I can tell. I like to stealth around and then resort to my shotgun when things go wrong xD
At this point I think I'll end up grabbing the dlc before the end of next week or just before whenever it was the sale for it ends. I've got £20 in my psn right now from that rewards program so it'd only cost me a couple quid

I was just invading people a bunch on Elden Ring, and I never got any messages at all over PSN before tonight, but thanks to some of these invasions I got three different people sending me positive messages. Just when I started to think I was gonna have to behave like an asshole to have any fun with invasions in this game, I get rewarded for trying to be polite and fair. Feels good :)

It could have gone better
It could have gone better Here are my thoughts on how they could justify that big price tag. These are just my 2 cents.. Backwards Compatibility: Imagine PS4 titles running at 4K 60fps—Bloodborne, Driveclub, RDR2, Infamous. Maybe even PS3 games like Xbox did with 360 games. The PS5 is strong enough to handle it, even with that nightmare PS3 architecture.Games: Where are they? They could’ve bundled at least one next-gen game so the price wouldn’t sting. Most launch titles were base PS5 stuff.Accessories: No vertical stand? LOL. They should’ve bundled a pro controller, a stand, disk drive, and headset for the “pro experience”—3D audio, enhanced haptics, RTX 3070 visuals, the works.PSN: PSN prices are sky-high, and we still need it to play online? PC gamers don’t. It’s time to slash the membership or remove it for online play entirely. Discounts or loyalty rewards would be nice too.Design: What’s with those Adidas stripes? It wouldn’t hurt to make it look cooler. Themed plates, like the 360 faceplates, would’ve been a nice touch to set it apart from the regular PS5 normies.Maybe if they did any of this, the price would feel less absurd. Still waiting for that kickstand though! Submitted September 11, 2024 at 06:09AM by speedemonsd https://ift.tt/NneLszA via /r/gaming

I *kinda* Want Better Home Menu's for the Switch 2
This may just be a result of it being like 7 in the morning when I considered writing this, me experimenting with custom home menu backgrounds for my hacked 3DS, me using a custom theme for Discord that turns it into a Windows 98 desktop or all three of those things combined on top Nintendo announcing that they are going to be sharing details about the Switch 2 in the next fiscal year whatever the hell that means but I’m kinda hoping the Switch 2 has better menus than the Switch.
That’s probably like what a lot of people are hoping for though right? A console home menu that has a lot more personality to the one we’ve been stuck with for the past 7 years on the Nintendo Switch. So it might surprise you to know I’m only kinda hoping for it. And let me explain. The home menu for any video game console, weather it’s old or new, has been something I have never been overly concerned with considering the whole reason I or anyone else plays on video game consoles in the first place is to play video games (Or watch something on Youtube or streaming or whatever you use your console for) and I have never understood why the menu of a console is such a make or break deal for some people considering how little you actually spend in a console home menu compared to being in game. It’s one of those things people tend to make out to be a bigger deal than it actually is. Seriously, some of you people would NOT survive the Playstation 2 or Nintendo 64 era where those consoles instantly load into whatever game’s inside them, double so for the N64 since there’s no grand console start up sequence like the Playstation or anything.
Even with that said though, I won’t deny that I do still like a good home menu all the same. It’s one of those things that add’s a little more personality to a console and even if you aren’t using the console for playing games and are using it for watching a movie or show, like I’ve been using my systems for a lot more recently, even just starting them up can be fun. Especially the ones that let you add a little bit of personalisation to your system to make it feel more you I guess.
Seriously, this is the base home menu for both the Playstation Portable and Playstation 3.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They are both similar in there menu designs but both can be customized to your liking.
I've been using my own pics I've gotten as commisions for my home background for these things...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
but there were a bunch of unique themes for the systems as well that you could get from the PSN store or even as rewards from certain games.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don’t have any for my Playstation Portable but I got a bunch for my PS3 back in the day and I loved using them especially the ones that change the sound effects for certain ones. I use to have a Prince of Persia one two but sadly I can’t find it anywhere on the PSN store to re-download it.
Same with the 3DS, even just the base menu has a lot of personality since your able to move around all the different icons and create your own folders for certain games and apps.
Tumblr media
(And of course, here’s a home menu using one of my comms if your interested. I have to put a lot of effort in for some of these let's just say.)
Tumblr media
And back when the eShop for the 3DS was still a thing I’m pretty sure I brought more home menus for my system than I did actual games from the eShop.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Seriously, before I swapped to using commissioned pics for my systems the Xenoblade Chronicles home menu for the 3DS was one of my personal favourites. Just the shot of the Mechonis in the background with the Manado Blade in the ground paired with the beautiful title theme just made for one of the most relaxing home themes on any system I’ve played.
Which brings me to the Nintendo Switch.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just an incredibly basic home menu, only two options for backgrounds being basic white or black, no sort of personalisation of any kind and the option to create custom folders for our games wasn’t added until a few years later. Yeah, it’s a prime case of over simplification to me. It’s one of those things about the Nintendo Switch I’ve always been conflicted on. Well, this and also the fact that the quality of some third party games is inconsistent at best and many of the first party games released in the first couple of years of it’s life were just ports of Wii U games I either already owned or could of saved money and brought the Wii U version instead since I was starting to make my own money by the time I owned a Switch (seriously, I will never understand how yall will crap on the Playstation 5 for its port which it isn’t nearly as over saturated with as you make it out but then turn around and praise this thing for its arguably larger number of ports!) On one hand I still stand by what I said earlier in that the Home Menu of the Nintendo Switch is not some make or break deal when I’m going to be spending most of my time in game on these things but on the other hand, I do still miss the option to make my console just feel like my own little personal device. And who know, maybe with the Switch 2 allegedly being a lot more powerful than the Switch 1 we could get better home menus. It won’t be a massive deal break if there’s not but I’d still kinda like it.
I don’t know, I guess I just miss that option to make newer consoles feel more personalized but even if it doesn’t come back I’m still as excited for the Switch 2 and the details we will be getting on it. Just please don’t have the library for the first couple of years be ports of games I’ve already owned on a previous console again for the love of Palutena!

Kena: Bridge Of Spirits Review (mild end game spoiler)
Just rolled credits on Kena after 35 hours so it's time to get my thoughts down. Kena is a 3D platformer that sees you take control of the titular Kena, a young spirit guide who has arrived at an abandoned village near The Mountain Shrine she's been searching for. In order to access the Shrine, she uncovers the secrets of the village, helping the spirits who in turn will aid her in her quest.
So for starters, this is a very pretty game, and it only gets prettier as you restore the corrupted lands. I quite like the art style which is very reminiscent of Pixar animation. This is reinforced by the story telling cinematics, which could easily be fleshed out into a full length feature.
Speaking of the story, it's very good. Well acted all around. In a nutshell I'd say it's basically Spiritfarer 3D, just without the extended conversations with the spirits you help, and in this game it's obviously leading to a final confrontation with... something. There's a decent amount to see and do in the game, and honestly none of it felt like "make work". There were solid rewards for going the extra mile and exploring everything.
The controls are good, nice and tight. No floaty jumping, or slide-ish running. The control scheme is set up well, also. I only had a few moments of "whoops that's not what I meant to do" mis-inputs. There are a bunch of accessibility options as well, which is still always nice to see, even as it gets more prevalent in the industry. Hey, I'm old, I remember when inverting Y-Axis was a pipe dream for most games.
Ok, so now the negatives. Mostly I have some nitpicks with the combat. So I noticed that taking a knockdown hit near structures more often than not would put you into a slow motion fall as you would get hung up on the environment. This led to a couple "cheap deaths", as the enemies would gang up on your defenseless protagonist. Another minor issue I had with a couple enemies in the last 3rd of the game: they didn't do a good enough (for me) job telegraphing what move I needed to use to break their "shield" to then damage and defeat them. I figured it out, obviously, but yeah for a bit there I was confused as to how I was supposed to get by em, lol.
**********Spoiler warning*********
The final confrontation was a disappointment to me. I haven't been a big fan of "multiple waves of enemies" final bosses for a long time, especially when it doesn't really make sense to the game's story or style. Kena has one of those types of end bosses. I tried a few times on the default difficulty level, but it was just too much stuff for this old man. I had to turn down the difficulty level in order to beat it. I'm glad that was an option for me so I could see the ending, but it still disappoints me a little.
**************End Spoiler***************
Overall, Kena: Bridge of Spirits is a really good game, with a great story, acting, controls, etc. I absolutely enjoyed 99% of my time with it, and would heartily recommend it to anyone that's a fan of 3D platformers especially, but all gamers should at least give it a try. Especially if you own a PS5 and have PSN Extra, as it's in the game catalog right now so it's "free" to play.

So… before I stopped playing, I had already:
1) Finished the krypt once, and refilled chests a few time but I was only getting augments and konsumables
2) Made almost every forge gear (missed only Raiden’s because I can’t find that amulet)
3) Donated to the shrine until it gave me only augments and konsumables when giving the amount of coins that should get skins or gear
4) Gotten to the point where at least my top 3 most played characters only gave me augments as random tower rewards
5) Finished the 5 first stages of Noob’s character towers and was halfway through the sixth
6) Finished the first stage of a few other characters
7) Beaten some lucky and meteor towers
I hadn’t realized when starting again that I had done so much
STILL
1) I am missing some non kombat league Noob equipment (seriously???)
2) THAT DAMN AMULET IS NOWHERE
3) The last two times I found Kollector on the krypt he offered me a Raiden skin for Earthrealm’s kamidogu, which I also can’t find nowhere!! (Why Raiden again??)
4) I am progressing on the gauntlet but it is so slow
5) There are a couple of Subs and Scorps itens marked as coming from frame tutorials. I finished those. Unless I am supposed to also finished the previous tutorials as well…
6) There is a skin that comes from beating the demon that jumpscares you when you put the blindfold in the krypt. The demon showed up for the first time in a while today and almost scared me to death
7) Bunches of character towers missing. Good thing they allow konsumables because there’s no way in hell I am beating Kronika as fucking Robocop
8) I beat a lucky tower today and it gave me like. A taunt? Or a brutality? One of those easy ones
After 8, I decided to stop doing lucky towers until I have unlocked more stuff for the characters I don’t play a lot (yes, even Robocop!) to maximize the chances of getting nice, hard to get stuff even for them
So I guess I am focusing on the gauntlet and character towers for now. I want to finish at least stage 1 for everyone, see those endings, that’s nice. While putting the AI with my least played characters to beat regular towers so I can get their random rewards, also any regular tower rewards I’ve missed (once in a while some show up). Preferably getting race against time rewards as well. And idk collecting coins to refill the kript again, maybe this time I get what I am missing
The krypt is a whole thing. I haven’t done all Kollector trades yet so I should get more Kollector koins to summon him because he’s never there when I visit. Also, I donated smaller amounts to get the kombat kard stuff and it started giving konsumables too but I checked and there’s a ton that I haven’t unlocked yet and are marked as coming from the krypt. I am so frustrated because the krypt is only giving me konsumables and augments everywhere now, but there’s clearly so much stuff missing! I sometimes seem to still get gear from the Kronika spheres but that’s all
If you’re new here you must be wondering why go through all this trouble even for the characters I don’t even play. Why am I like this. I do wonder sometimes too. The answer is that 1) I am autistic 2) I paid for this game and I am getting all the unlockable stuff one way or another. It’s bad enough some stuff is paywalled or region or time locked even though I got the so called Ultimate Edition (looking at you kombat league and local releases and MK2 female ninja skins and Eternal Klash pack my beloved). Also this forces me to play through all the game has to offer (except online, because psn paywalls it, but who would willingly submit to mortal kombat online?? not me lol) even if my autistic hands don’t have the needed coordination to do a simple special move with aerial kombo and perfect block and whatever this all means, and even if some parts of this experience are not stuff I want or enjoy (looking at you, Robocop). I am torturing myself to beat this game as close to 100% as I can. This is a perfectly normal way of using your free time for fun
