Anime I Watched This Fall

My first semester of college is officially over and the December holidays are upon us! I hoped to make one of these posts sooner, but I have been incredibly busy with schoolwork. Now that things have slowed down, let’s take sometime to reflect on things I’ve watched. 

These anime are listed in chronological order and encompass everything I’ve watched from 9/1/2020 - 12/15/2020

Like always, they will be rated on a 1-10 scale; 1 meaning complete garbage, 10 meaning masterpiece. I will offer my thoughts on what I did/didn’t like about each show!

1. The God of High School - 6/10 

Despite the stellar animation from MAPPA and my high expectations, I was really disappointed by how this series was treated. Most of the story’s crucial elements were handled poorly. I finished this series feeling more confused about the plot than when I first began. The power system is really cool, but poorly explained. More time should have been spent on exposition and world building for this series, instead the fights were given the most screen time. 

2.  Doukyuusei - 7/10 

I really liked the style of Doukyuusei. Granted, this was another movie I chose to watch primarily because of the hype surrounding it. The dynamic between Kusakabe and Sajou is an interesting one, and I also enjoy how the movies different acts were separated by the seasons. However, there's nothing that really sets Doukyuusei apart from other romance movies, its a little generic. Still, I enjoyed it nonetheless. 

3.  Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu 2nd Season - 8/10 

My opinions on Re:Zero’s second season are biased. This was, by far, the sequel I was most hyped for during the summer/fall anime season. I was so happy to see the story’s continuation and I’m looking forward to the season’s second part coming sometime in January. Re:Zero is one of my all time favorite series because of the way it handles it characters and power dynamics. I also really enjoy the show’s psychological aspects. If you haven’t already, give Re:Zero a try! 

4. Saint☆Oniisan (Movie + OVA) - 8/10

This was a wonderful comedy. I wasn’t sure how the subject of Jesus and Buddha living together would be tackled, but it was handled wonderfully. I was laughing for pretty much the entire movie. I love the art style and little references to both Buddhism and Christianity, plus the incorporation of Japanese culture. Saint Oniisan is a bright comedy, with two eccentric main characters. If you like a show that doesn’t take itself too seriously, and need a good laugh, I can’t recommend this more.

5. Clannad: After Story - 10/10 

Never, while watching anime, did I cry as much as I did while watching Clannad: After Story. I didn’t realize how much I related to Okazaki until I saw him grow up in After Story. I was left sobbing, especially after episode 18. I still, to this day, cannot listen to the Dango song without tearing up. The original Clannad is nothing special, but the continuation of its story its something heartfelt, emotional, and down-to-earth. I love Kyoto Animation with all my heart, and Clannad made me appreciate everything the studio has done just a little bit more. Thank you Clannad, for reminding me about the kind of person I strive to be. 

6. Nakitai Watashi wa Neko wo Kaburu - 5.5/10

The art in A Whisker Away was beautiful. The story itself, however, is nothing too enjoyable. I found it difficult to like our protagonist or her love interest. Nothing about this movie is inherently memorable. The emotional climax came far too early which made the second half of the film seem long and drawn out.  All in all, the movie has a wonderful concept, I just believe it could have been so much more emotional than it was. When I watch a move, I like to empathize with the characters. It’s difficult to do when the characters aren’t given the proper exposition to be empathized with. 

7.  Shikioriori - 6/10

This is less of a movie and more of a collection of short stories. Flavors of Youth is something you shouldn’t watch on an empty stomach, all of the food looks incredible. The same cannot beside for the rest of this feature. The stories themselves seems heavily clichéd. Much like A Whisker Away, the initial premise is intriguing, but the execution results in something that comes across as trying too hard and carries no emotional weight with the viewer. If you plan on watching, pay more attention to the artwork and animation than the actual plot. You won’t be missing anything. 

8. Vinland Saga - 7/10

Vinland Saga helped me get out of the rut that Clannad: After Story. Not only does this show have a great story, its action packed with lots of interesting fights. I especially enjoyed all the Nordic history embedded within the show. Its really unlike any of the other historical anime I’ve watched. I will say, it’s gory. But, compared to all the other things I watched this time around, I finished this series the quickest. Its good, its graphic, its fast paced! 

9.  Mononoke Hime - 7/10

It’s ironic considering how much anime I’ve watched that I have yet to watch all of the most classic Studio Ghibli films. Princess Mononoke is grittier than most other Ghibli films I’ve seen, but it’s message is positive and its characters are wonderful. I can’t really speak ill towards classics like these. I guess maybe my one complaint is that this movie could’ve been a faster pace. Other than that... I really enjoyed everything Princess Mononoke offered! I understand why it’s so popular.  

10. Howl no Ugoku Shiro - 8.5/10 

Can you believe it took me this long to finally watch Howl’s Moving Castle? Me neither!! This movie is so endearingly beautiful. I loved every second of it, from the characters to the soundtrack. So many iconic things come from just this one movie. I would like to take this time to thank my best friend for reminding me that Studio Ghibli films are wonderful! Thank you for watching this with me, I loved it! All in all, I regret not watching this sooner! 

11. Toradora! - 6.5/10 

Toradora took me a while to finish, just because I lost interest about halfway through. But, I powered through it, and ended up really enjoying the show! I’m not the biggest fan of the ending, but that’s just a personal preference. Somehow, this show also made me cry? I’m not entirely sure why because Toradora! is probably the thing farthest from sad. Apart from the show’s dull slice of life moments, it was super cute! A much needed light-hearted romance. 

12. New Initial D Movie: Legend 1 - 5/10 

Full disclosure, this is the only thing related to Initial D that I’ve ever watched. My band and I watched this expecting to hear some of that iconic Initial D music, itself all we got was a mildly confusing story about different types of cars. It was cliché and frankly a little boring. Although, I am still considering watching the original Initial D just so I can hear the music in the way it was original intended. I’ve got no other opinions on this movie. It’s best not to watch these movies without the context from the rest of the franchise.  

13.  Uchuu Patrol Luluco - 7.5/10

I didn’t really understand why people enjoy studio Trigger so much until I watched Space Patrol Luluco. I loved all the fun references to other studio Trigger works. I loved the humor, and I loved all the bright colors. The animation was extremely high energy, and the art style fits the show’s premise. Each episode was only 12 minutes long so it was a super quick binge. If you’re looking for something quick, light-hearted and comical, this is the perfect show to watch.

14. Orange - 7/10 

I owe a big thanks to a tumblr mutual for recommending this show to me! This holds the honor of making me cry by episode 3! I honestly did not expect the subject matter of this show to be as dark as it was. Usually when I see the genre ‘shoujo’ I do not associate it with a love story like that of Orange. The heavy subject matter made it a little too close to home for me, but I still really enjoyed this series. It reminds me off all the good times I had with my friends in high school, and of all the regrets I carry with myself to this day. 

15. 3-gatsu no Lion - 7.5/10 

March Comes in Like a Lion is another show that was a bit of a slow burn for me. Each episode left me feeling emotionally drained, so I had to take a lot of breaks while I was working on watching this series. Shaft, the studio behind this anime, holds a special place in my heart because I loved their work on the Monogatari Series. March Comes in Like a Lion is a little different. It’s driving force it is characters, and it was cathartic to watch our main character transform through the entire duration of the first season. I know the show’s second season is much better, so I’ll be starting that soon! 

16. Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei - 8/10 

I loved how artsy and smart The Tatami Galaxy is, but honestly I couldn’t watch too much at once cause it would hurt my head. I also couldn’t watch this show while I was tired because the speaking rate is much faster than typical anime. The Tatami Galaxy is so unique for its medium. I loved the different time loops and the crazy animation. The characters were fascinating. The dialogue, although very fast, it also fantastic. There’s an element of humor to this unique story telling, and I enjoyed ever minute of it! 

Currently Watching:

Hunter x Hunter - 6.5/10 (As of Episode 30)

I pride myself in having watched a lot of shounen anime, but I was reluctant to start Hunter x Hunter for years because I thought I would find it boring. I was oh so very wrong. Considering great shows like Naruto and Fairy Tail that fall under the same category, I expected Hunter x Hunter to be subpar in comparison. It gets a low score for two reasons. One, the power system was introduced a little too late and now I’m wondering if all the fights post episode 30 will involved nen in some way, shape, or form. Two, its still on hiatus. 

Two Cursed Additions For This List

Please to do not let these be representative of my anime taste. 

1.  Yarichin☆B*tch-bu - 4/10

I am a CLOWN for not knowing this was 18+. The only reason I watched this was to see why everyone was talking about the pink-haired boy with the glasses and tongue piecing. I know why now, and I regret it. This was a massive mistake on my part. But hey, at the least the art and ending song kinda slap? 

2. Euphoria (Dropped After 1 Episode) - 2/10

If you know what I’m talking about when I say Euphoria, I am so sorry. And no, I am not talking about the HBO series. Seriously, don’t google this. Don’t watch this. Don’t interact with anything related to this. You’re probably wondering, “Then why did you watch it?” I did not watch this willingly. You see, I have a very bad habit of starting anime and then taking months to finish them. I made an ultimatum with a friend, lost, and then was forced to watch this a punishment. Not a fun experience. I’m very glad there are no GIFs of this on tumblr...

Also if you request a character (assuming you’re asking for an anime request)  that is portrayed as a young teenager, then most likely (scratch that, the word I’m thinking of is “absolutely”) he/she will be written in a universe as a young adult/older than 18 because I’m all about legal consent to doing the fun shit either that...or not at all. (I have to make this big because I cannot stress enough how important this rule is and if you can’t comply, then I have every right to reject your request) Don’t argue with me please.

My Top 11 Manga’s worth Reading:

I had never been a die-hard Otaku in terms of reading Manga but because of my nerdy cousin who even has a mix tape of all his favorite Anime theme songs I came to like so much that I became a fan, I am fond of the this particular anime that’s both a mix of nostalgia & teenage years many of you might find some Manga in this list as not worthy but I would like to mention that this top 10 has impacted both my preferences in Manga & what attracts to a a certain degree and to make things clear these Manga doesn’t necessary have an Anime some of them have, but most of are:

TOP 11: Dragon Ball

For me you are haven’t read or watch this iconic anime then you might had missed what is the most iconic manga’s that’s so impactful that I doubt you never saw the influence in the newest anime’s or Manga’s of today. It paved the way what Shonen Manga it is today funny,whimsical & action packed I doubt that anyone who knows this one has not yelled Ka-me-ha-me-ha!!!!! in your childhood.

Top 10: Yu Yu Hakosho / Ghost fighter

If you are a fun of Hunter X Hunter then you shouldn't have missed this Gem this manga is full of surprises but if you are a fan of the author then you would also know his flaws, as he is always prone to cut his story short or have too much hiatus but hey this Manga is full of character development that even the most annoying Character is worth the read.

Top 9: Slam Dunk 

I don’t about you guys but this ironic may it seems but this nerdy anime made me fell in love with basketball today’s generation may compare it to Kuroko's Basketball but to me this is the original that more worth it, it doesn’t give you unrealistic skills or overpowered skills but the growth of a delinquent student re-directing his athletes-ism towards something more productive is a really worth of your time, but it’s strengths is I think it’s also weakness the character development is too much focused on each player that the flow of the story is at times too slow, but it also makes every victory wonderful & felt even at times they are losing it feels much more grounded & satisfying to see them win by every unexpected turn. It’s a bonus that it’s really really funny. 

Top 8: As the God’s Will / Kami sama no iutoori 

If it weren’t for the ending that I still can’t get to accept this would had been one of my top 5 but nevertheless this one for me is one of the most surprising & unexpected manga that I ever read, because it’s like the author is toying with you all the characters are like chess pieces non are safe, this is a not a typical shonun manga & it’s full of lovable characters that makes you hate the author for toying with your feelings, it’s a must for those who are sick with the recycled hero type manga that’s so predictable nowadays, reading this was a journey but it feels lackluster when you reach the ending it feels like you expecting something to happen and it didn’t deliver but hey beggars cant be choosers this one is still one of the best. If you are fan of cat & mouse battle of Deathnote then this is a must read for you.

Top 7: I am A Hero 

Oh boy this manga is good & lame that I can’t put in anywhere reading this Manga feels like a roller coaster it has ups & downs then when you finally get to finish it you feel like that was it? I know there’s so much more, why did it end there, are you looking for a manga that doesn’t feel like you are reading but rather watching what’s happening panel by panel & it feels to realistic to some degree that it amazing to see how the creator manages to make a masterpiece like this, like the details of the background & characters feel surreal that it feels like you are watching a movie than reading a manga, there’s no anime for this manga because it’s for adult but there’s a live-action & it doesn’t disappoint I think the movie had a better ending than the manga itself, and by the way this is perfect for adults who can relate to the hero in some degree, I don’t know which part but like I said to some degree hahaha.

Top 6: Solo Leveling 

Oh boy, this is a manga that I love the story & the art but hates the main character, I am sure for some fan they love the overpowered overrated characters but for me it lessens the connection to the character, it feels like Dragon Ball that you loved the until Dragon Ball Z then ignores the rest because you only enjoyed the journey but became bored because you don’t feel the struggle of the character anymore, I always love an underdog story but hates it when a story becomes unrelatable well maybe most fan doesn’t have the same concerns but like I said it’s so good but it when you want something different you it falls on your expectations but hey this manga is still good, it’s more focused on the gaming experiences. Like having a character level 10 to 99 haha like I said his journey is what made me love this Anime, but the Shōjo type Main Character made me a bit off. 

Top 5: Death note 

A manga full of moral ambiguity it makes you question your own moral ethics & somehow makes it think the definition of good and evil. Because the main character is a perfect gray character he is not a hero nor a villain, and his rival is not even the Hero or Villain, it’s a manga that makes you feel you are watching a chess match,. the bonus art is so beautifully made that it makes you clamor for more.It’s Timeless & bold. 

Top 4: Naruto 

Ah Naruto, it makes you do the hand seals and run with your hands at your back, this manga was basically part of my teenage years until adulthood same as the beloved character, this Manga has the qualities below the list but more, you feel like Naruto is your childhood friend not a hero, because you had been through that Journey that seeing him finally achieving his goals make the sequel for me irrelevant, the Anime has made me listen to this band  Asian Kung-Fu Generation why? because my cousin made me loved their songs with his mixtapes I love this Manga all in all but the bromance of Naruto & Sasuke not so much hahaha.

Top 3: My Hero Academia

Plain & simple if you love Marvel & DC comics then reading this manga will never fail you, plus if you love Dragon Ball & Naruto then I bet this manga again won’t fail you, I though Shonun Manga won’t be enticing anymore but this Manga felt like I was a still a child inside “Smash”!!!!

Top 2: One Piece

Do I need to explain why? A lot of people had made a lot of theories about his Manga & never never had they made the correct theory or anticipated what happens, this Pirate Adventure is more fun than all the Pirates of the Caribbean combined I just wish that whenever they do make it’s live action it would be as diversed as the original content it’s a complete manga full of humor & adventure but when it gets serious you will get confused on why you are crying for a freaking ship..

Hmm one of the most underrated manga’s of all time for me this is the most complete manga I ever read, it has dark humor and a very mature content it’s character are what I’ve always wanted a reluctant character that grew to a understandable hero, while the sub characters are still a must read, it’s just so weird and action packed that an anime or live action adaptations cannot replicate, it’s very original & doesn’t shy away from shining on it’s own, even the author said it himself that he can’t replicate Gantz or make more explosive than this, I tried looking for something similar but even after ending since 2013 for me no one has surface how good it was for me. Oh and bonus you get to see Angelina Jolie here hahaha.

Alot of people draw parallels between Kurama and Kurapika, Hiei and Killua, Yusuke and Gon, Kuwabara and Leorio But no one comments on how Karasu is this weird hybrid of Ilumi and Hisoka. ( Also Sensui and Chrollo)

Wish I could help you there, but I only saw I think two seasons? Maybe one season. *shrugs* I could never get into Hunter x Hunter. I have a few theories for why, I think, but it’s all super subjective. One of my friends is the exact opposite, obsessed with HxH and unable to enjoy Yu Yu Hakusho.

If you are a fan of HxH, I strongly advise you don’t read this. These are my personal opinions on why I cannot stand the show, not a detailed analysis of the show itself or objective view of its merit. Will be under cut.

Also I am sleep deprived and potentially tipsy so this will likely not be coherent. *finger guns*

Anyway, for me, HxH always felt… too on the nose? Too Naruto-like, in a way? Here, meet Gon, he’s a super nice and friendly dude, but oh no, he has a tragic past because his dad is missing… And now he wants to be just like his dad, who is missing, so why is he emulating a dude he doesn’t know? And here, meet Killua, he’s a psychopath and he’s like 10. Instead of getting this kid a therapist the older characters around him are going to encourage him to go kill people. Oh yes, these children are also murderers. Meet Kurapika, the Kurama of the group, who is also a bishie, is low-key scary, intelligent, caring, and also has a tragic past! Yay… And Leorio… I confess I don’t know shit about him. But he probably has a tragic past.

Okay, I am probably being too harsh on this show. I know it’s beloved by many people. But the constant pushing of “tragic!! So sad!!” and “child murder! Yay!” Is just not my cup of tea. 

YYH did this way better, in my opinion. The tragedy is there, but it’s layered on slowly. Hiei, who arguably has one of the most tragic childhoods a shonen character ever experienced, doesn’t actually tell us what happened to him until the show is almost over. We get to learn who he is, what makes him tick, we get to love him, ponder about his past, get invested. Then we are given the sad. But HxH is like Naruto in the fact that it just shoves it into our face, as if to say, “hey, this character had a bad childhood, you should feel sorry for them and love them.” I just hate that. 

And Gon… that friendly optimism is just… weird? He feels 2-d to me, not like a real child. Whereas the imperfect Yusuke acts exactly as you’d expect a child in his position to act. He has daddy issues because he never had a father. He has issues with authority because his mother was awful and he never felt safe or comforted by the adults around him. He gravitates towards male role models and at the same time rejects them. He respects only one authority, Genkai, because she is the first adult who taught him what he found useful. His kindness, his empathy, all that is earned. When Yusuke tells Genkai he cares about her, when he cries over her death, we believe it and we feel it, because we saw what he was like when he didn’t care, when he didn’t have an adult to turn to. It’s like a child that had been neglected all his life who was suddenly thrust into a foster home or an orphanage where one cranky lady is done with life, so she’s honest and raw and doesn’t throw platitudes into his face, and he respects that. He gravitates to it the same way 9th grade students do to the teacher who uses swear words in class and isn’t afraid to show the Romeo and Juliet movie that has the *gasp* boobie in it. His relationship with Genkai is realistic and earned, and genuine like crazy, and when he mourns her, the first and only adult he respected, loved, and felt safe with, we all mourn with him…

But Gon? I don’t know. He just put me off from the start. He doesn’t seem to have a reason for being so damn friendly. He doesn’t seem to act like a normal human being at all. He’s just this weird 2-d cartoon that tries to kill with kindness and be just like his missing dad instead of, ya know, doing the realistic thing and having a complicated relationship with him. Like, Yusuke doesn’t hate Atsuko. But he sure does blame her for lots of things. I can interject my own childhood here, because my feelings toward family are also complicated. I know the “missing parent” thing really well because my parents lived in a different county for half of my childhood, and I can tell you, while I understood why they did it, and loved them, and appreciated with all my heart the sacrifices they made… I still did, and still do, blame them for robbing me of a normal childhood. Of robbing me of a relationship with them. Of robbing me of that mother-daughter best friend dynamic, of being able to tell them all my secrets and feel like they’re part of my life and not just distant parental figures I respect and love the way the religious love and respect their gods. And Yusuke is the same. His relationships with all the adults in his life, even some of the other kids, are complicated and layered and realistic. He knows his mother had a raw dealing having him at what, 15? But he also blames her for not doing more… Hiei, how does he feel, knowing that his mother died, instead of leaving the Glacier Village during her pregnancy or right after birth to go look for him? How does he feel knowing she stayed there, and died there? It wasn’t her fault. She was heartbroken, she was exhausted from giving birth, and she was weak and scared and alone… it’s even implied she committed suicide. And if she did, don’t you think Hiei might still feel complicated about it? Don’t you think he might feel like she should have been stronger, for him, for this small child that didn’t deserve his fate? She should have lived and left the village and searched for him! She should have looked even if she knew he was dead, if nothing else then to bury him! That’s the sort of thoughts I bet once ran through his mind…

But Gon? Nothing. Just… love for mom and idealizing dad. It’s boring, unrealistic, and I hate it.

Killua, my friend’s favorite shonen character (if not favorite anime character) of all time is literally one of my least favorite, and the only character I might have liked, Kurapika, was clearly ripping off of Kurama, whip and all included. So I just could never finish the show.

As for the Karasu question, technically, he came first, so those other characters are based on him. But from what I did actually see of Hisoka… he’s like an evil pedo (right?? I heard something like that??) clown. That’s what he is. How is he threatening? This isn’t even a rhetorical question. Creepy, maybe. But I’d just feel slightly uneased by him and then call the police if he came near me. If Karasu had his eyes on me like he did on Kurama, I’d probably shit my pants, let’s be real. 

Karasu was a sadist. He was thrilled by the “intimacy between murderer and victim.” And the scariest shit of all? You can sorta understand him. When you murder someone, you are the only person in the world to see what happens to them. You have complete control over that person. You are their god, deciding if they are worthy of life or death. It’s an urge you can theorize about, can talk about, can even understand to a degree. But Hisoka? He uh, wears clown clothes and chases Gon? Or something? He makes scary faces? Karasu doesn’t have to even show his face to be terrifying. He just has to talk about his hobbies and his beliefs. Hell, the moment she shows up you feel something is up. I saw Hisoka like, at least 10 times and I still don’t know shit bout him. Karasu had like, 3-4 speaking scenes and they all made him fucking scarier with each one. I felt like each scene with Hisoka added absolutely zero to the show. Not to mention how fucking slow it was…

I feel like having a character target your young protagonist and make creepy faces at them is just lazy. Dude is, and I know Naruto came after, but that’s the show I saw first and actually know a thing or two about (till whenever shippuden started). So dude is just like Orochimaru. Now I was never scared of that guy, I just thought he was a total creeper. To me, there were way scarier moments. Hell, even Gaara’s brother, when he like, trapped a guy inside a puppet and then blood dripped out? Was that him? Anyway, that moment was way freakier than anything Orochimaru did. Karasu’s like 3 scenes were way more psychologically scary than all of Orochimaru’s scenes put together. And I got the same vibe from Hisoka as Orochimaru. The, he’s creepy and these kids should definitely find an adult asap, and not “holy fuck that’s a mass kidnapper/rapist/torturer/murderer and holy hell I am fascinated and also terrified and holy shit Kurama run run run!” 

*shrugs* Karasu is honestly probably the scariest villain in YYH, too. Only because he enjoys torture and murder, and he explains why. And the explanation makes fucking sense and its so terrifying that I can’t

and he also doesn’t look like a clown. That’s a major plus. I’m not and never will be scared of clowns. Like… its a clown. Its colorful and does weird shit. How is that scary? No, demonic looking motherfuckers with long ass ink black hair and eyes that glow purple with glee at the thought of ripping blood curling screams out of someone in front of a giant ass audience, and lamenting that they wish they could fucking keep him and I dont know fucking fuck his corpse is that what he meant cause holy fuck!??! 

Anyway, Karasu gives me nightmares and I love him and I don’t care for HxH and I need sleep and love you all very much please don’t hate me for disliking this show I really did give it like, three separate chances. *shrugs*

(ENDED)CASTING CALL FOR: Voice Actors/Music Artists!!! Multiple Roles Available!

DEADLINE MARCH 31ST, 2018!!!

Hello everyone! I’m Erydiel, and I need your help! This is a long post, so beware!

I am currently working on my own anime called “Changing Fate.” To not give away too many spoilers, the anime is in a modern setting with fantasy-like elements, and involves romance, action, angst, etc. You can think of something like Naruto/Bleach, but closer to a Sailor Moon-type style. It’s a little weird of an explanation, but I hope that I’ve grabbed your attention! If you’re interested, read more below!

Now, here’s the deal: this project of mine is a one-man team. I make the story, the script, and do all of the artwork and putting everything together. Since I’m the only person doing this, it takes time to finish all of it. At this point, I will most likely release 1 episode at a time, OR finish all of the episodes and release them once a week. I’m still not sure what to decide yet, which is why I’m doing a casting call now.

Right now, this casting call is for both voice actors and music artists! To prepare you on what you’re getting into, Changing Fate will have:

- 15 episodes of various lengths

- 2 OVAs

- a trailer for the anime

- an anime intro/outro song

- a character reveal trailer

All episodes will be released on Youtube (and Vimeo, possibly). Now, I am a college student on a very limited budget, so I cannot pay you for your hard work. However, you will receive credit on every episode/video that’s released that you’re on, and you can absolutely add this series to your resume. (I’m sure that employers would love to see that you’ve worked on a long-term project, right? I know I would!) I WILL attempt at making a kickstarter to raise funds, so if it is at all successful I will be able to pay you then depending on the work you’ve done. Of course, this is something that will be discussed when we get closer to that time.

So, are you still interested? Wonderful! Here are the requirements in order to apply:

VOICE ACTORS:

1) Must have a good microphone, and/or be able to remove any background noise/static/etc. from the file before sending it to me.

2) Send files in either a .mp3 or .WAV file format

3) Be able to work with me in making sure that voice files are correct, and if needed re-do a line if the tone of a scene needs to change.

4) You will also need to be okay with scenes that either include or imply: torture, blood, death, pain, etc. Torture scenes will only be for 1 episode or so, but the situation is implied multiple times in the anime. DO NOT apply if you are NOT COMFORTABLE WITH THIS. I do not want to accidentally hurt you. I may not know you personally, but I always try to make sure that everyone is okay before moving forward.

MUSIC ARTISTS:

1) Be able to create several tracks (if needed) to fit various scenes in the anime.

2) If you can sing, or know someone who can sing, and be able to get them to sing the intro/outro song for you in the music file.

3) Send the files in a .mp3 or .WAV file

4) Be okay with certain scenes as stated in the Voice Actors Section above.

5) If you can do an intro/outro song but can’t create certain tracks, etc. (and vice versa) that’s OKAY. I don’t expect for only 1 person to do everything: I know different artists can create different genres of songs/tracks, so I’ll be expecting to hire more than 1 person. Just be you when applying!

6) Be okay and patient enough to be able to make any tweaks or changes to a song/track if needed. This may happen multiple times.

Accalia Enelya (Ah-Kay-Lee-Ah Ee-Nel-Yah)

Gender: Female

Race: Nashoba (werewolf)

Accalia is one of THE main characters of the show. She will be one of the main focus in the anime, which also means she will have many, many lines. She is Tsundere to most people, but is heartwarming/acts normal to those that are the closest to her. She is a fierce protector who does not like Humans for the most part, but also knows that she is just a tool for their protection.

Lines:

1) “Humans…they disgust me.”

2) “Hey, get back here you scum!”

3) “It’s time to change.” (The line that’s spoken before a transformation scene occurs)

4) “I’m sorry…but I can’t. Not now, not ever.”

Natsuki Arai (Naht-Su-Kee Ah-Rye)

Gender: Male

Race: Human

Natsuki is a soft-hearted man who is the love interest of Accalia. His voice is softer/feminine than most males, but NOT too feminine. You can clearly tell that he is a male, especially if his voice is raised in anger (which is quite rare). He is a gentleman at heart and tends to be the peacemaker in arguments.

1) “Hello, my Lady.”

2) “I assure you that this must be wrong. Can we not resolve this another way?”

3) “Accalia, please, let me help you! You don’t have to do this alone!”

4) “All of this pain that you went through…I’m so sorry, my Love.”

Paula Kisurugi (Paul-Ah Kiss-oo-ru-gee)

Gender: Female

Race: Human

Paula is Accalia’s best friend and closest ally. They have known each other for years, and will depend on each other if everyone else is against them. Paula is known to be a klutz, but she makes up for it with her sarcastic remarks and jokes. She will defend anyone who she is close with, although Accalia is most likely to protect her first.

Lines:

1) “Hey, get back here you jerk!”

2) “You know we gotta get them together, right?”

3) “Lia, you know you can trust me, right?”

Race: Natissa (Vampire)

Cain is similar to Accalia in being Tsundere, but it’s not as strong. Instead, he’s almost like the classical annoying Jock that gets on everyone’s nerves. However, despite that persona he is a protector of his friends above all else, and is especially kind to Accalia because he owes her for saving his life long ago. He is also the love interest of Paula.

2) “Heh, hey Shortie. Did ya lose on the bet already?”

3) “Hey, back off!”

4) “They’re going to pay for this.”

Damerick Bennett (Dah-Mer-Ick Ben-nett)

Damerick is known to be a Jack-of-all-Trades and makes constant jokes to make others laugh and be happy. He is an old friend of Accalia and Cain, and looks out for them often in times of need. Like Cain, he also is close with Accalia due to saving his life long ago, and wishes to pay her back for her sacrifice. If you ever feel down and need a pick-me-up, Damerick is the guy to go to.

Naruto opened his eyes to a bright room, sun beaming in from the windows, birds chirping loudly, echoing into his head and making it spiral continuously. He grunted out of the bed, feeling like the walls were slowly rippling backwards and forwards like the gentle waves of the sea. His skin felt numb and his stomach churned in agony from the accumulated alcohol. Naruto felt a hot burning sensation raise up in his gut, he was about to run to the bathroom before he was locked down in place.

The room seemed to quite everything slowing coming into focus as his breath and body calmed underneath porcelain arms which cradled his shaky body.

“Good morning.”

Naruto closed his eyes and smiled, he tilted his head down and kissed the hands beneath him, thanking them for stabilizing him.

“Good morning teme.”

Naruto felt hot kisses on the back of his neck which melted onto his skin like honey, soothing his muscles, calming his spinning brain.

“Do you also feel like shit?” Naruto asked in a quiet voice.

“Yep, but I think I'll be okay if we just stay like this.”

Naruto chuckled lightly whilst slowly brushing his fingers on Sasuke’s forearm. He felt Sasuke rest his head on Naruto’s bare back, slowly releasing hot breathes onto Naruto’s lower back making his skin shimmer and tingle in joy.

“Stop breathing on my back, it tickles.”

“Tch, do you want me to die? I kind of need to breath to live.”

Naruto laughed loudly, “no baka, if you die so do I. And I have no intention of dying anytime soon, seeming as I just got you.”

“I think it is I, that finally got you.”

Naruto looked down at the floor, smiling widely, wondering how this simple act of endearment from his boyfriend could make it feel so happy, so sober, so awake?

“I can see you smiling.”

Naruto turned the smile into a fake pout, “no you didn’t.” Naruto turned around and pushed Sasuke down on the bed in protest.

“No! Naruto, I’m too drunk for this, I will literally barf on your face.”

Naruto proceeded to jump on top of a struggling Sasuke, he tickled all his weak spots and watched him wriggle underneath him, laughing at each new spot Naruto attempted to attack.

“Stop! Naruto, I will hurt you.”

Naruto stuck out his tongue at Sasuke in protest, he looked at him with all the love in the world. This man, this perfect man was his everything and he was so lucky to have him, be with him and love him.

Sasuke looked at Naruto, feeling his heartbeat against his chest furiously, attempting to escape into Naruto’s body. He looked up at this gorgeous man who’s golden hair dangled messily over his face and bright blue eyes, his smile so beautiful and loving, his sun kissed skin and tiny freckles making up this man who looked like an angel with the sun shining brightly behind him and illumination him against the rest of the world.

“Hey Sasuke?”

Sasuke’s deep black eyes stared into bright blue eyes, looking nearly hypnotized, “hm?”

“I love you.”

Sasuke looked away shyly, his cheeks flushing a soft pink, “I love you more.” He started to smile softly, hot liquid slowly accumulating in the rear edges of his eyes.

Naruto bent down and laid soft kisses on the tears that escaped Sasuke’s eyes.

“You are beautiful Sasuke, you know that?”

Sasuke gulped down on the hot ball of saliva that was accumulating in his thought, his rib cage hurt from containing his heart which no longer was beating but bashing on its edges to let it out, his lungs also felt hot and heavy, filling with something he wasn’t used too.

“Naruto, I will punch you if you continue.”

Naruto chuckled lightly whilst laying several more kisses around Sasuke's neck, “fine, only because I’m super hungry and want to get breakfast.”

Naruto jumped off Sasuke and rolled out of bed whilst nearing falling over due to the fact that he forgot he was still a tad hung over.

Sasuke looked at his boyfriend struggling to recover from his near fall onto the ground and realised he was in trouble. He never expected to feel like this, so hopefully in love that he couldn’t even hide his feelings anymore. He was Sasuke Uchiha for God’s sake, he doesn’t do the sappy kind of love, then why? Why was this man so infectious, why couldn’t he hide the way he felt like he did everything else? Why is it that the mere thought of him leaving, dyeing or breaking up with him makes him feel so queasy? Why is it that he no longer cared about his own life, but only his? He would die, kill and suffer for years if it meant making him smile like that every day, making him happy, letting him be the joyous sunshine that he is.

*9.30 am*

Naruto finished piling on the last pancake onto the plate, he sliced some strawberries and bananas to go with them and finished it off with some maple syrup. He piled the plates on the table and started to make the coffee, he whistles to himself whilst he waited for the kettle to boil.

He looked around at the prepared table and smiled to himself, he loved making breakfast for Sasuke on the weekends, it’s what got him through the week of work, knowing they get to spend the weekend together. Something about being with Sasuke in their new house, watching him enjoy a meal Naruto cooked in their pj’s made Naruto so overly happy. He didn’t know what the feeling was called. Happy? No, it was more than that. Warm?

Naruto’s pondering was interrupted when the Kettle clinked to signify it was ready, he grabbed the kettle and poured them into the two mugs already set up on the table, which were filled with grinded coffee and sugar.

He made sure everything was ready before happily skipping back into the room to tell Sasuke breakfast was ready.

He peeked his head into the room, seeing Sasuke still collapsed onto the bed, looking mildly like death. Naruto laughed a little inside, Sasuke usually doesn’t get this drunk, so seeing him so hungover was also a new first for Naruto and it was quite funny to watch.

“Sunshine it’s time to get up and have breakfast.”

Sasuke looked at Naruto with half lid eyes, “Naruto it’s okay, I'll just stay in bed, plus I don’t think I can stomach anything right now.”

Naruto crossed his arms and pouted, “that’s not what I want to hear mister, plus food will make you feel better I promise.”

Sasuke grunted at Naruto. He found the edges of the bed covers with his left hand and threw them over himself in rebellion, “never, I’m not moving.”

Naruto smirked at the white lump on the bed, “fine if you’re not moving, I'll move you.”

Naruto walked over and grabbed the edge of the blanket and pulled it quickly off Sasuke so that he was fully visible.

“No! Naruto, I don’t have enough energy to fight back, please stop” Sasuke said in a high pitched whiny voice.

Naruto just shook his head in disappointment whilst smiling. “Sorry but you are coming with me.” Naruto picked up Sasuke with his two hands, bridal style.

Sasuke squirmed weakly in Naruto strong hands, “I hate you, I hope you know that.”

Naruto smiled widely at him, “I know, but you need food.”

Sasuke stopped squirming and started to flop in Naruto’s arms, a sad attempt to pretend to be dead.

Naruto looked down at his pitiful boyfriend and just raised an eyebrow, he lifted Sasuke into the air quickly and caught him as he landed. Sasuke was soon awaken from his two second death.

“Fuck you teme.”

“Love you more sweetie pie” Naruto said with a huge guilty smile on his face. He placed his still grunting boyfriend on the chair which had in front of it a huge stack of fluffy pancakes on them which were still steaming and accompanied with the fresh fruit and maple syrup which Naruto had placed alongside them.

Sasuke’s eyes lit up in excitement and his stomach grumbled in anticipation.

“See, you were hungry.” Naruto said boastfully as he circled back to his side of the table.

Sasuke started to stuff his face with the pancakes whilst evilly looking at Naruto, “tch.”

Naruto looked at his boyfriend happily eating his pancakes with great joy. He loved this, he loved him, he loved all of it.

*11 am*

“Hey Sasuke…” Naruto said cautiously.

“Hm?”

“Don’t you think we should go talk to Sarada? I mean, I talked to my kids about us, should you?”

Sasuke looked at him with a plan expression stamped on his face, “hm I guess so.”

Naruto gulped down on the steadily increasing burning sensation accumulating in his throat, afraid that the next words that would leave his mouth would not be well received, “Sasuke don’t bite me okay?”

Sasuke raised a curious eyebrow.

“Do you even love your kid?”

The room silenced out, heavy breathing from both counterparts could be heard but no one broke that intangible silence, that mild build of electricity slowly filling the room.

“Dobe, I am not the same with my kids as you are yours, that’s just it, okay?”

Naruto started to get frustrated, feeling himself lose patience with Sasuke, “Teme, no. You didn’t even start seeing her until I literally pressured you for weeks. How can you say you love her? And the fact that you don’t ever want to go over there willingly is shit Sasuke.” Naruto prepared himself for the first proper fight they would have as a couple.

“Naruto its none of your fucking business how much I see her, plus you know I have never been one of the emotional, lovey dove kinds.”

Naruto’s fist clenched in, trying to calm the boiling liquid filling inside of him. “Sasuke, she is your daughter, end of fucking story. You cannot blame her, for your mistakes of trying to act the straight dude. She was not the cause of your marriage or divorce. But you have to face the fucking facts, that yes you were once married to Sakura and yes you did convince a daughter with her in some poor attempt to try and see if being straight was even mildly possible for you. For fuck sake Sasuke, for once in your life will you care about anyone who isn’t you?”

Sasuke was starting to get mad, his eyebrows were sharply pointed down and his eyes seemed to glow a strange red and black mix.

“I do care, about you. Isn’t that fucking enough?”

Naruto started tearing up, “No.” He looked at his boyfriend and somehow composed a fake smile. “Sasuke I love you, I do. But you need to be a better father and if you loved me, you would start trying harder.” Naruto turned around and headed for the door.  His hands were inches away from turning the door handle, but his body had cemented into place.

Naruto turned around to see Sasuke looking out the window with a solemn expression on his face, tears slowly dripping down his white skin. “Hey Sasuke, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to get so angry at you, I know your trying, I just worry that you don’t care about her you know? She is your family and that means she’s mine. I just want you to be able to have something as special as I have with my kids. If you just try.”

Naruto turned back to head out the door, not knowing where he was going to go, but he just wanted to calm down. “I'll be back later, I do love you, I really do. I’m sorry Sasuke.”

Sasuke didn’t waver, his head was still firmly placed forwards towards the crystal-clear window. “Hm.” He refused to say anything more, because he wasn’t too sure what he was feeling right now. Guilt? Anger? Sorrow?

Naruto walked forwards, not knowing what direction he was going or really to what location. He just walked. Listened to the leaves which danced around in the wind, which were accompanied by birds singing to the skies, like some strange yet calming relaxing sonata.

He walked slowly forwards on the dirt track, watching his feet tussle the sand underneath. He looked up to the sun, which pulsated through the leaves and dangled towards to the ground like golden streamers hanging from the trees.

Naruto felt his heavy breathing calming, almost mimicking the peaceful scenario. His body went from an angered harsh walk to a peaceful stroll, which tried to dance in rhythm with the leaves whilst softly skimming the dirt underneath it.

Naruto smiled, feeling better already and then he felt it, the bright idea. He knew what he would do today.

With a smile on his face, he started to jump forwards, excited for the day to come.

12 pm

Naruto knocks on the door with a smile as big as his face.

He waits patiently by the door, twiddling his thumbs until the door was opened. Naruto was greeted by a long-time friend, who looks like they haven’t had an ounce of sleep, messy pink hair dangling all over their face, accompanied by deep green eyes and darkened circles to accentuate them.

“Naruto?”

“Hey you, looking fabulous as always.”

Sakura punched Naruto on the shoulder, which for a normal person would have sent them flying across the street, but luckily Naruto could hold his own with Sakura.

“What do you want. I’m too hung over to deal with your bubbly energy, not all of us have some magic beast that helps us recover really quick.”

Naruto chuckled lightly at Sakura’s remarks whilst entering and attempting to take off a shoe.

“I’m here to take the kids off your hands, you still have our children?”

Sakura lightly laughed, loud enough for Naruto to hear behind her, “I’m pretty sure I still have them.”

Naruto walked around a corner to find a puddle of mess, a room topped with drawings, broken crayons, plastic shuriken and nerf guns. He saw Boruto and Sarada fighting over a game of tekken, yelling at the screen to win the game for them and Himawari in the corner drawing another unicorn painting.

Naruto smiled at this sight, he wanted nothing more than to be the best dad for his kid and it hurt him to think Sasuke was missing this with Sarada.

“Well hello you guys.” Naruto said mischievously. The three kids turned around with spooked expressions on their face.

“Dad?” Boruto exclaimed in a curious and questioning voice.

Naruto smiled as he braced for a running Himawari that was ready for a bear tackle hug, “hey, I know your mother was meant to pick you guys up, but I called and asked if it was okay if I stole you guys for the day.”

Himawari’s face lit up as if she just saw a flying unicorn in the sky, “yay daddy, I missed you soooooooo much.”

Naruto’s face glowed in joy, he was nothing without his children, they were the centre to his existence.

“So, what do you say, adventure with the old timer?”

Boruto smiled and stood up to give his dad an epic high five, “you know it!”

Naruto was outside Sakura’s door, thanking her for taking care of the kids, he offered to cook her dinner anytime and gave her an invite to visit him at his new place. Sarada stood behind Sakura, a near copy of her and Sasuke, she waved at Boruto with a wide smile on her face and pink cheeks which highlighted her beautiful deep black eyes.

Before Naruto could say his last good bye, he slowly whispered into Sakura’s ear. “Sakura, is it okay if I also take Sarada today?”

Sakura looked at him with a confused and almost defensive motherly look, “hmm”.

Sakura looked over at Sarada and pursed her lips in a questioning way. “Hey sweetie would you like to join Naruto and his family for today? I know you had plans to go practice with Boruto later on, so if you wish to go, I will allow you to go.”

Sarada’s face lit up, she smiled widely and ran over to give her mother a giant hug, “thank you so much ma. Ille just get changed Mr. Uzumaki and be right over.”

“Take your time sweetie.”

Naruto looked at Sakura with deep gratitude, “thank you.”

Sakura gave Naruto a look that was more scary and threatening than anything he had ever seen, “take care of her, you hear me?”

Naruto gulped down in fear of being killed by Sakura If anything would happen to her baby girl, “yes mam.”

“Hm.” Sakura folded her arms in a cross manner, but soon relaxed her fist, “but thank you for thinking about her.”

“Anything for you and Sarada, you guys are my family and as much as Sasuke doesn’t want to admit it, he loves you guys just as much, he just struggles to show it.”

Sakura looked at Naruto with loving eyes, emerald gems that glowed in response to Naruto’s kind words.

“I hope that’s true, because I worry about her. I’m fine, I’m strong, I can survive with or without him, not that I want anything to happen to him, because you guys are now...”

“Sakura, it's fine I understand what you mean.”

“Hmm, it’s just her I worry about sometimes, you know? She basically grew up without a dad and I don’t want that to define her in a bad way, if you get what I mean?”

Naruto nodded his head, “I certainly do, it’s easy to start worrying so much about them, isn’t it? But all you can do is try your best and hope that what you teach them and how you guide them is the right way.”

Sakura placed her head on Naruto’s shoulder, letting out an agreeing sigh.

“I’m ready!”

Naruto laughed to himself, seeing Sarada in a full ninja outfit. “Well you do seem ready to take on a whole battle.”

Naruto beckoned her forward and placed a loving hand on her head as he messed around with her hair.

“Alright ninjas, off we go.”

*In a quick blink, all 4 ninjas were off to the trees, skimming the branches quickly and being alert of any dangers which they might face, like a stray evil cat*

I think i've asked this before, but I can't be sure, but if you imagine your TheCherryOnTop characters as adults, where will they be now? 😁

so i just checked and oh dang tomorrow (aug 4) will mean it’s been ten years since i posted that fic. a friggin decade. wow. wow i am old af. 

but for the sake of your ask, i’m going to take “adults” to mean 25-26 bc that’s where i am now and that’s just easier. also i refuse to reread that thing so i’m just kinda guessing here. i apologize if this doesn’t match up with who they all were in that fic.

sakura just finished her MD and is ready to gtfo of school. she’s still dating sasuke because #truelove. 

after being roomies with ino in their first year of university, they had a moment of “how the hell were we not best friends before?” and have been such ever since. 

she doesn’t blog because she’s too lazy to, but she tweets something sassy every five minutes and lives the most glamorously photoed life on instagram (read: she doesn’t actually). she’s not happy because holy shit student loans, but she’s okay. coming home to ino and their twinkle lights that just rack up their hydro bill while dating her high school sweetheart is good enough, even if she has no hope of ever owning property until she’s 100. 

sasuke went from leaf academy to konoha university like all the other children. he studied something to finish his degree (mama’s orders) but had no passion to pursue anything in particular so he kept the job he had at one of KU’s offices. eventually they hired him full-time and he was like yeah sure because he had student loans to repay and then all of sudden he turned 25 and he was still there. 

it’s fine though. public sector pays pretty damn well considering how little he actually does. also he has benefits and isn’t that a plus? anyway he wants to propose to sakura by the end of the year. they’re still pretty young, sure, but it’s been a long time and when you know…well, you know. and honestly he’s known for a long time. 

naruto is on his way to become a teacher. he’s trying to, at least. he works at two different schools part-time because that’s the nature of the job market unfortunately. he’s in the union though, so that’s a good start. internal applications? hell yeah! first dibs yo! the best part of his day is when he stops for ramen on his drive to the second school. idk how the fic ended for him but you know what? 

he recently started dating ino because i said so. his studio apartment has the basics: a bed, a tiny kitchen, and about two dozen succulents. they’re essentially his children.

naruto and sasuke have an app idea that they always talk about making one day when they eventually go about studying the technical stuff.

although she’s roomies with ino, sakura mostly lives at sasuke’s apartment because he has a dog and sakura loves his dog more than she prob loves sasuke. it would be infinitely more economical to just move in with him but like her parents would be displeased. or something.

sakura has been a bridesmaid like four times already in the past two years and she starts crying when tenten asks her to be one for her upcoming wedding because she’s a broke ass bitch and cannot bring herself to wear another “team bride” tank top.

sasuke and sakura make their morning commute together everyday. or like they did when she was still in school. now it’ll depend. but they like to do the crossword together each time. they’re those annoying people who talk on the subway at like 7 in the morning while you’re trying to sleep.

OMG.

k that’s how he proposes to her. he writes it in the crossword puzzle before getting off at his stop and leaving her on the train for the rest of her trip. 

did i write a sasusaku crossword proposal already? yes. but that’s not the point.

anyway i’m trying to keep this as vague and short as possible, mostly because i HATE when something gets a full ending and takes away your chance of, well, imagining your own stuff (lol like how naruto went).

to be clear, they’re all struggling millennials but they’re all v happy, esp with each other. :)

like sakura and ino regularly complain that they’re broke as bitches but the second one says “wanna get sangria” the other immediately says “when” soooo.
