Does anyone have experience with cloning trees? I want to clear out invasive honeysuckle and mulberries on the trail and put native trees in their place, so a bit of cloning seems like a good way to kickstart that.

Most of the cloning advice I see is for landscaping though, and tells you to pamper your cuttings for ages to give them the best likelihood of survival. Meanwhile, I'm just throwing these puppies into the wild with the goal of simply reintroducing the species into the area, landscaping be damned. I want to cut the time, effort, and space spent as much as possible without reducing the success rate below, say, 25% (though I'd be fine with 10% if the effort is low enough).

If I can just dip cuttings in rooting powder and jam them into the dirt and get 10% success, that'd be fantastic. Current plan is to dip in rooting powder, put in a tub of water in the windowsill for a week or two, and then plant; I'd be fine with 25% success there. If I really need to keep them indoors for longer than a couple weeks, the most I'd want to do is put them in a bag with damp paper towels and leave them around the house.
