Could you maybe explore your characterizations for Monomon and Herrah? Your take on Lurien is incredible!

Ahhh so sorry this took a while! Thank you for waiting!

I'll use this post to answer about Herrah because I think she needs more love. Monomon will be in a another post (` v ´)

As with before, the answer will be under the cut!

When I was thinking about my human design for her, several inspirations came to mind:

Genghis Khan - Founder of the Mongolian Empire, one of the largest empires ever

Khutulun - Mongolian princess and warrior who famously refused to marry anyone unless they could defeat her in a wrestling match (no one ever did). She is the main basis and inspiration for my human Herrah design

Zheng Shi/Zheng Yi Sao - The most succesful pirate ever; a woman who took over her husband's pirate fleet after his death and became so powerful that the combined forces of the Chinese, Portuguese and British navies were unable to stop her

One of the lore tablets in the game states that her partner, a noble, passed away leaving her, a commoner behind. I like to think that she worked to take her husband's place as leader; perhaps even having to participate in some tough politics and fights to get there.

As such, I have it in my mind that she came to power by more of less declaring "I'll surrender the throne to anyone who can beat me in a fight" and basically won against every challenger to her throne by either beating them to a pulp or politically outmanouvering them.

Like most people, I think of her as a rather headstrong person and smart. After all, she's the leader of Deepnest and appears to have a following that's is almost, if not the same, level of devotion from Deepnest's citizens as the Pale King (PK) has with Hallownest's citizens. The difference is that, she's not a god! And I think that says volumes about what kind of leader she must have been! From what I gathered in game, the Spider Tribe located in the Distant Village and the Weavers seemed to be two distinct groups yet, they have a common devotion to Herrah. I think it's not unreasonable to imagine that maybe part of her coming to power was in uniting the various tribes in the territory to form/expand Deepnest. Uniting them in rejection of PK as the leader probably made it easier but she seems to have gone the extra step in ensuring that they remained loyal to her, thus amassing such a large following. In turn, I think she also respected and cared for her citizens as evidenced by her becoming a Dreamer for their sakes.

Like her desgin inspirations, I think she would have been a good military strategist and her devout following would have made any campaigns and battles rather smooth for her. That being said she's not a brute (as I sometimes sadly see her being depicted as). Being a leader of a large (and it seems dangerous!) territory would likely mean she picks her battles and would know when to show off her power.

As awesome as she must be, I imagine being a leader must be so tiring. If she's not busy leading the people, I imagine she'd be caught up in things like thwarting potential coups and dissenters trying to oust her. On top of that, she is a mother! So it's not like she can completely rest when she's not being Herrah the Queen, Herrah the Beast or any other titles and responsibilities that have been bestowed upon her and I imagine it only got more exhasting when dealing with Hallownest and it's court. As a result, I like to think that she'd have a tendency to fall asleep on her feet or zone out from not having enough rest. I also like to think of her as a somewhat introverted individual so I think it's fun that she maybe doesn't always realise or care how she comes off outwardly to the people around her.

As an aside, I have it in my head that her friendship with Monomon and Lurien stems from the fact that she holds no responsibilities or titles when she is with them. They do not think of her as "The Beast", "Queen of Deepnest", "Mum Friend" or whatever. To them, she is just Herrah.

This is purely me being silly with headcanons, but since she is a spider, I like to play with the headcanon that she'd have an instinctive talent for the natural sciences (physics, biology and chemistry - because spiders can have venom), engineering (building intricate webs) and mechanical mathematics (goes with engineering). The architecture in Deepnest is rather distinct to Hallownest and the Weavers appear to be capable of some impressive engineering feats (if the den and what looks to be the giant loom in there is anything to go by). Maybe she has little side projects for herself to get her mind off things or conduct research for her kingdom!

Anyways.. yeah! That's the main thoughts in my head when it comes to Herrah!

Weiwei kicked another monster’s ass for the fifth or sixth time that day. Her only focus on the computer, her mind going into over drive, her hands working faster then she could think.  She was currently sitting in the conference room of Zhi Yi Technology, testing out the new version of a Chinese Ghost Story.  Almost all her fellow co-workers were gathered around her, watching her play.   

“No wonder she won over Boss.  She’s so good.”  Her mind ignoring the world, her focus only on defeating each of the enemies.  Oblivious to the glare from across the room coming from her partner.  Xiao Nai sipped on his tea, his eyes dashing to each of male workers pressing closer to get a better view.  

“What are you thinking?”  Yu Banshan nudged him, enjoying the jealousy coming over his friend, even if it was unfounded.  Everyone knew there was only one man for Bei Weiwei, no matter what anyone would try.  

“That’s starting to get annoying.”  He sipped on his tea once more, turning to go back to his office.  

“How so?”  Yu Banshan followed after him.  

“Maybe we should hire another female employee, since Ah Shaung is gone.  Been meaning to get around to doing that.”  Yu Banshan realized that Xiao Nai was not even speaking to him.  It was as if it was a mental note.  

“Seeing you jealous, it is fun.”  He mentioned.  The famous Xiao Nai smirk fixated on him.  

“How about you go and help out Third sister-in-law in a PK battle?”  Yu Banshan lost his smile, knowing that when it came to PK’s he would lose to Weiwei.  

“You’re cruel.”  

“No.”  Xiao Nai sat down in his chair, setting out an email to the employment manager.  “Just jealous.”  He smiled at his friend.

I began to watch this drama because of the lead actor, I start to like him since « Tornado Girl » where he played the role of Ruo Bai. One of my favorite characters in this serie.

I didn’t expect that the drama would be sooooooo good, the story was simple but attractive. It was sweet, cute and down to earth.  There was no dramatic plat or betraying or stereotype etc. It was just normal. Plus, it doesn’t have a third person who would break Wei Wei and Xiao Nai’s relationship. From the beginning to the end, Xiao Nai only sees Wei Wei and vice versa.

Here are all the Klingon verb suffixes you will encounter, all types, from Type 1 through Type 9 and the Rovers.

1.Oneself/One Another

These two verb sufixes describe an action which is done to oneelf, or actions which multiple subjects to to one another.

[TKD 4.2.1]

-’egh oneself Indicates that the action affects the subject; requires a prefix indicating that there is no object (jI-, bI-, ma-, Su- and the null prefix). Can be used together with -moH to form a command of a stative verb, e.g. yI­tuj­’egh­moH Heat yourself! [KGT p. 117]

-chuq one another, each other Requires a prefix indicating plural subject and no object.  (ma-, Su- and the null prefix)

2.Volition/Predisposition

Verb suffixes which describe willingness, unwillingness, readiness or trepidation (fear) - and a verb suffix which describes an action which must be taken.

-qang willing (Example: Dochvam Sopqang She is willing to eat this)

3.Change

These two suffixes indicate that something has changed state, or it has changed state and then resumed the original state.

-choH change in state, change in direction E.g. cho­muS­choH I am beginning to hate you (but I did not hate you before). The sentence pa’ ghoS­choH He/she is starting to go there implies that either the person was not going anywhere before, or that he/she changed direction.

-qa’ resume, do again Indicates that the action stopped, then began again, e.g. wI­nej­qa’ We are resuming searching for it or We search for it again.

4.Cause

There is only one verb suffix of this type, and it describes a verb which is happening because it has been caused to happen.

-moH cause The subject causes a change in condition or creates a new one, e.g. qul vI­chen­moH I light a fire (lit. I cause a fire to take form). Makes intransitive verbs transitive, e.g. yI­qIj­moH Blacken it! (lit. Cause it to be black!). Required when making an imperative out of a stative verb (see also -’egh above).

5.Indefinite Subject/Ability

Two completely different verb suffixes. One describes the ability to do the verb: the other describes the verb as having an indefinite subject.

-lu’ indefinite subject Indicates that the subject is unknown, indefinite, and/or general, the verb can not have a subject, and the prefixes are used in a different way (vI-, Da-, null, wI- or bo- are used to descrive something is done to me/you/him/her/it/us/them). Sentences using -lu’ are often translated into English passive voice, e.g. Da­qaw­lu’ You are remembered. tu’lu’ is often translated as There is.

-laH can, able E.g. jI­Qong­laH I can sleep; tlhI­ngan Hol vI­jatlh­laH I am able to speak Klingon.

6.Qualification

This set of suffixes qualifies a verb as being apparently happening, definitely happening, obviously happening (with some doubt) or happening perfectly.

-chu’ clearly, perfectly Indicates that an action is performed absolutely properly. [PK]

-bej certainly, undoubtedly

-ba’ obviously [TKDa] Indicates that the speaker thinks what he/she says should be obvious to the listener, e.g. QIp­ba’ He/she is obviously stupid. There is still room for doubt though, the suffix does not imply as strong a conviction as -bej.

-law’ seemingly, apparently Expresses that the speaker is uncertain, and may even be thought of as meaning I think or I suspect, e.g. Du­SeH­law’ He/she seems to be controlling you or I think he/she is controlling you.

7.Aspect

The closest thing to describing verb tenses in Klingon, these suffixes describe actions which had happened (but which are not happening now), continuous actions, actions which have been deliberately done, and activities which are heading towards a definite end.

-pu’ perfective Indicates that the action is completed.

-ta’ accomplished, done Indicates that the action was deliberately undertaken and completed.

-taH continuous Indicates that the action is ongoing.

-lI’ in progress Indicates that the action is ongoing and proceeding toward a known goal.

8.Honorific

Only one Type 8 suffix exists. It is an honorific, used for talking to a superior. It is rarely used.

-neS honorific Indicates extreme politeness or deference. Used only when addressing a superior, e.g. HI­ja’­neS Do me the honor of telling me. It is never required.

9.Syntactic Markers

The last set of fixed suffixes, this is the catch-all category for a random selection of suffixes which cannot go anywhere else.

A subordinate clause can occur either before or after the rest of the sentence, e.g. cha yI­baH qa­ra’­DI’ or qa­ra’­DI’ cha yI­baH Fire the torpedoes at my command!

Relative-Clause Marker

-bogh which

A relative clause takes the place of a noun in a sentence. It has a head noun to which its verb refers, e.g. qIp­bogh yaS the officer who hit him/her or yaS qIp­bogh the officer whom he/she hit. If there is more than one noun in the clause, the head noun is indicated with the suffix -’e’ topic, e.g. loD­Hom qIp­bogh mang­’e’ the soldier who hit the boy.[TKD 6.2.3; TKW pp. 142, 189]

Main-Clause Modifiers

-’a’ interrogative

Indicates that a sentence is a yes/no question, e.g. bI­jang­’a’ Will you answer?

-jaj may, let [TKDa]

Expresses a desire or wish on the part of the speaker that something take place in the future. If used in a toast (but not otherwise) the sentence word order becomes object–subject–verb. E.g. wo’ ghaw­ran Dev­taH­jaj May Gowron continue to lead the Empire, if the same thing were to be expressed as a wish or aspiration on the speaker's part, and not a toast, it would be said wo’ Dev­taH­jaj ghaw­ran instead. Note: Klingons seem to be a bit touchy on the subject of toasts, and so it is important to use only the handful of accepted toasts. [PK; KGT pp. 25–26]

Nominalizers (Turns Verb into Noun) -wI’ one who does/is, thing which does/is

In reference to inanimate objects it means thing which does/is or thing which is used for,when referring to beings it means one who does/is. E.g. joq­wI’ flag; nan­wI’ chisel; baH­wI’ gunner; puj­wI’ weakling. Also used to say things like Doq­wI’ the red one. [TKD 3.2.2]

-ghach nominalizer [TKDa] Turns a verb (which must have at least one other suffix attached) into a noun. The use of this suffix often makes for bad Klingon, and it is strongly suggested that you refrain from using any word with -ghach, unless it is found in the dictionary. E.g. naD­Ha’­ghach discommendation; naD­qa’­ghach re-commendation.

R.Rovers

These markers can be found in various irregular places in the suffix order. Every marker has different placement rules.

-be’ not

This suffix follows the element (verb or verb suffix) which it negates, e.g. cho­HoH­vIp­be’You are not afraid to kill me, cho­HoH­be’­vIpYou are afraid to not kill me. It cannot be used in imperatives (where -Qo’ is used instead), but it can be applied to verbs used adjectivally, e.g. yIH­mey lI’­be’ useless tribbles [TKDa 4.2.9; CK]

-Qo’ don't!, won't!

This suffix always occurs last, unless followed by a type 9 suffix. It is used in imperatives and to denote refusal.

-Ha’ undo

Always occurs immediately after the verb, before any other suffixes. It indicates that something that was previously done is now undone, or that something is done wrongly, e.g. nob­Ha’ give back; yaj­Ha’ misunderstand.Can also be applied to verbs used adjectivally, e.g. ’ey­Ha’ undelicious; yep­Ha’ careless.[KGT pp. 30, 84, 150]

-qu’ emphatic

This suffix follows the element (verb or verb suffix) which it emphasizes, e.g. nI­muS­law’­qu’ They SEEM to hate you, nI­muS­qu’­law’They seem to HATE you. Can also be applied to verbs used adjectivally, e.g. veng tIn­qu’ very big city.

Development of pre harvest forecasting model for Chhattisgarh plain Zone on Pigeonpea by Principal Component Analysis

Abstract

The present investigation deals with the model have been also developed by Principal Component Analysis on districts level and zone level as well. Models fitted with 2 Principal Components (PC1 and PC2) and Time trend (T). Models are highly significant and R2 value 69% for Pigeonpea and for CG plain Zone is also highly significant at 0.1% level of significance. The present investigation covers under the study of individual effect of weather variables, joint effect of weather variables forecasting model developed through stepwise regression technique following the concept of older studies by the different scientists in this direction for many crops. The principal component analysis has been also taken for the development of forecasting model. But in this section only Principal Component Analysis covered for the model development.

Introduction

Forecast of the crop production at suitable stages of crop period before the harvest are vital for rural economy. On the other hand, forecasts of crop yields are important for advance planning formulation and its implementation. Forecasting is also vital for crop procurement, distribution, price structure and import export decisions etc. These are useful to farmers to decide in advance their future prospects and course of action. Thus, reliable and timely pre-harvest forecasting of crop yield is very important. To meet such needs, crop forecasts under the prevalent system in India are being issued by the Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Ministry of Agriculture, New Delhi. The final estimates based on objective crop-cutting experiments are of limited utility as those become available quite latter after the crop harvest. The Statistical techniques employed for forecasting purposes should be able to provide objective, consistent and comprehensible forecasts of crop yield with reasonable precisions well in advance before the harvest. Several studies have been carried out to forecast crop yield using weather parameters etc. These are useful to farmers to decide in advance their future prospects and possible course of action. Thus, reliable and timely pre-harvest forecasting of crop yield is very important. In statistical model approach, one or several variables (representing weather or climate) are related to crop responses such as yield and yield contributing characters. Therefore, there is a need to develop area specific forecasting models based on time series data to help the policy makers for taking effective decisions to counter adverse situations in food production. The forecasting of crop yield may be done by using three major objective methods

a. Biometrical characteristics

b. Weather variables and

c. Agricultural inputs [1].

Material and Methods

The present investigation covers under the study of individual effect of weather variables, joint effect of weather variables forecasting model developed through stepwise regression technique following the concept of older studies by the different scientists in this direction for many crops. The principal component analysis has been also taken for the development of forecasting model. Time series data on yield for 25 years (1990-91 to 2014-15) for 4 Districts, Seventeen year for 5 districts has been procured from Directorate of Agricultural, Govt. of Chhattisgarh. The weekly meteorological data (199091 to 2014-15) procured from IGKV, Raipur for Chickpea and Pigeon pea crop period data.

PCA is a multivariate technique for data reduction. It is a mathematical function, which does not require user to specify the statistical model or assumption about distribution of original variables [2]. Let Xij be the value of jth biometrical character (j= 1, 2, ...p) corresponding to ith varieties of experiment ( i= 1, 2,...n). The PCA for xij's will be carried out. Let PC1, PC2, ....PCK be first K (K< P) principal components explaining variability about more than 70 to 90 percent of the total variation in xij's. Using these K principal components as regressed variables and varieties yield (yi) as regressed, the following linear multiple regression model for pre-harvest forecast of crop yield has been proposed.

Where Yi is the crop yield of the it plot; p0, pi, p2 pk are model parameters and ei is error term assumed to follow independently normal distribution with mean 0 and variance a2. The aforesaid model is fitted with the data by least square technique.

a)Measures for validation and comparison of the models

Two procedures have been used for the comparison and the validation of the developed models. These procedures are given bellow. Coefficient of determination (R2) and (R2adj). The models were validated on the basis of (R2) and (R2adj) which can be computed from the formula given by Drapper and Smith (1988).Adjusted R2 is given by the following formula,

Where ssres/ (n-p) is the residual mean square and sst/ (n- 1) is the total mean square. The total mean square is constant regardless of how many variables are in the model. On adding a regressed in the model Adjusted R2 increases only if the addition of the regressed reduces the residual mean square. It also penalizes for adding terms that are not helpful, so it is very important in evaluating and comparing the regression models.

b)Percent Deviation

The plants to be measured were selected randomly .Plant height was taken from the top of soil to the peak of plant with measuring tape.

The formula for computation of Percent Deviation of forecast yield from actual yield is given by [3,4]. This measures the deviation (in percentage) of forecast from the actual yield data. The formula for calculating the percent deviation of forecast is given below:

Results and Discussion

The Principal Component PC1, PC2 and T fitted finally in the model in given below: Y= -60.02 -2244.8 PC1-4493.58 PC2-22.50 T. The results given in Table 1 that all variables (PC1, PC2 and T), all the variables are found significant [5-8]. The coefficient of determination adjusted (R2) has been found to be 85 % which is significant at 0.01% level. Table 2 Indicates that the value of adjusted R2 good enough i.e. 85% (Figures 1 & 2). Deviation from yield indicates that the model is best fit and it has high power to pre-harvest forecast. It means model is very reliable for forecasting at zone level for pigeonpea [9-11].

One of the often addended 'Fourth Document' ideas, is not from LiuHe BaFa at all, they are from late 1800's to 1900's codification of bodily anatomy often used in the zhan zhuang 站樁 'standing post' of Yi quan 意 拳  from Wang Xiang-zhai who was 'friendly' and respectful to Wu and also from some teachers of Ba-kua-palming.
