also, luke was Annabethā€™s brother before he was a hermes kid and luke was the first person who helped and respected Percy before Percy really knew what being a hermes kid meant. Also Percy has no respect for ā€œthe way things areā€ and questions everything, Annabeth does respect that but again, luke has always been the exception to her worldview
yeah maybe Grover might suspect the hermes kid, but again! lukeā€™s reputation proceeds him! and Clarisseā€™s reputation proceeds her! she has been an asshole to everyone in camp including probably Grover and especially Groverā€™s best friend
ā€œwhy donā€™t they ever suspect Luke why donā€™t they realize itā€™s Luke why are they so quick to suspect Clarisse and not a Hermes kidā€
guys, Luke is the perfect child. Thats the whole point! He gave his offerings he said his prayers he went on his quest he proved his loyalty to Chiron, to the gods, to his dad. And he did it all with a smile. They have no reason to suspect luke! Luke is the best of them!
Ares couldā€™ve come to that meeting waving a big sign that said ā€œLUKES THE LIGHTNING THIEFā€ and they still wouldnā€™t have believed him.
Because they also donā€™t want it to be Luke.
They love Luke. Luke takes care of them Luke protects them Luke is everything they want in an older brother. It doesnā€™t matter how blaringly obvious the writers get about who the real thief is. They will ignore every sign, every red flag, every warning, until Percy is dying of poison deep in the forest and Luke is gone.

Hot take: The original Percy Jackson and the Olympians series is NOT fit for being a TV show. At all. But Heroes of Olympus is.
Why, you may ask? Because although PJO technically takes place over the course of few years, each individual PJO book takes place over a very short period of timeā€”usually only a few days, maybe up to a week (with the exception of parts like Calypsoā€™s island). Nearly all the scenes and events take place back-to-back. But with a TV show, you have to find places to break it up, and thereā€™s a whole week between every single episode. So itā€™s basically taking us two months to watch an awkwardly fractured series of continuous events that actually take place over the course of a few days. Itā€™s weird. It just feels off. Unless Rick decides to release all the episodes at once (which I donā€™t think he will), itā€™s just gonna feel weird asf no matter how much he tries to fix the pacing.
Heroes of Olympus, on the other hand, is MUCH BETTER for a TV show format. It takes place over the course of several months and has a bunch of little time jumps woven throughout. Plus, the characters are older and there are more mature themes, so it caters to older audiences a bit more too. (Donā€™t even get me started on how Rick is shooting himself in the foot by refusing to acknowledge that most of his fans are older teens and adults now.)
Now, you may be wondering, ā€˜arenā€™t the first couple of HOO books only over the course of like a week?ā€™ Yes, which is why they should show the two at the same time. Donā€™t do one season for eachā€”flash between the two! The first episode opens with the lost trio on the bus and is all about Jason getting to camp, and ends with them finding out some guy named Percy is missing. Then, the next episode opens with Percy barefoot, running in the forest with the wolves, and follows his journey to Camp Jupiter. For the rest of the season, the scenes constantly switch between their two POVs throughout each episode, showing their stories side by side. It would be clear that their timelines are different because it would be freezing winter for Jasonā€™s scenes and summer in Percyā€™s. Then [input slow motion montage of the Argo II being built over the course of several months] the season finale is when their timelines finally meet up, and the Argo II arrives at Camp Jupiterā€”just like how Son of Neptune ends.
Then, Mark of Athena has its own season since that takes place over a few weeks. Most events take place on different days, and thereā€™s no exact timeline for most of it. House of Hades and Blood of Olympus probably combine into one season. Percy and Annabeth were only in Tartarus for a few days, so maybe HoH makes up three or four episodes, and Blood of Olympus is five or six. These 3 books work for the same reason that shows like The Walking Dead work. The timeline isnā€™t always exact, but you know stuff is happening somewhat close together but also not on the same day or even the same week.
And with LONGER episodes. Give me hour long episodes, not freaking 33 minutes like season 1 PJO kept doing.
Anyway, thatā€™s how I would do it. However, for many reasons, most of which I wonā€™t get into, I donā€™t think thereā€™s much hope for Heroes of Olympus even making it to the screen. But I hope Iā€™m wrong.

i was wondering about how it was possible that sally never saw the bruises that gabe surely left on percy and didnā€™t realize anything because he had to have left lots of bruises, and i think i finally figured it out: he would take showers.
ā€œmelody what are you going on about?ā€ you probably ask.
he didnā€™t like that gave hit him cuz he was left to sit with his body and feel icky knowing gabeā€™s hands had been on him so he would go take a shower. water heals him. but he would have questions (obvi) so the mist comes into play. everyone (percy included) see the bruises but sally is clear-sighted. the mist doesnā€™t work on her. she sees nothing on his body.
and thus she never finds out (until they inevitably have a conversation abt it and they realize. cuz if you think percy wasnā€™t talking to sally abt all that troubled him (in the mortal sense), ur mistaken. sure he would keep it from her but never for long periods of time. theyā€™re like rory and lorelei (s1-s2). they can never seem to keep anything from each other!!!)

^^^SO TRUE ON SO MANY LEVELS
was on yt, saw a cool short by a lesser known youtuber dedicated to alexandra daddario as annabeth, liked it cuz the edit was kinda fire.
open the comments to see just 5 comments, all of them deadass hating on her by saying "bLoNdE mY aSs" and "eWw tHeReS oNly pjo bOoKs nD sHoW" and im like... why.
why are you here on yt hating on some unknown editor just trying to appreciate an actress and her portrayal of a FICTIONAL character. i get it, everyone's going crazy over the show, but like cmon man these movies are over a decade old, why do we still have to hate on them šŸ˜
not saying they were accurate but what's the point of being so petty you gotta take time out of your day to hate on the acting of an actress of a decade old movie who's portraying a fictional character??? if you don't like it then just move on, it's not that hard šŸ’€šŸ™

Saw Percy Jackson was trending again. This is for the peeps who still keep bringing up Annabeth Chase and her TV show casting...
Why you whine so much?
'Cause at this point, that's all it is. Rick Riordan is not going to listen, and he is calling the shots. Leah was cast under his jurisdiction, for his own project, since she embodies Annabeth the best of all those who threw their hat in the ring. She gets to officially don on said hat, and should be applauded and supported and celebrated for making it here. Especially considering how phenomenal of a job she is doing!
Instead, many of you bring her down over something she has no control over. In a lot more ways than just her skin colour.
Most of the fandom doesn't care for this so-called 'issue.' The ones who do really need to look at this uncomfortable feeling over a freaking CHILD and wonder why it bothers them AT ALL.
The canon Riordan supposedly 'disrupted' is his own to do with as he pleases.
And if your complaint stems from Annabeth no longer looking like you, or always having been a certain way in your head, I do believe that's not all there ever was to her. She is more than the white, blonde haired lady from California.
Annabeth Chase is the kid who needed to grow up and be an adult at the age of seven, because the ones around her failed her. Annabeth Chase is the girl who told Percy he drools when he sleeps, and couldn't care less about him until he proved himself to her. Annabeth Chase is the friend who wants the world for the people she cares about, and tries her best to never let them down. Annabeth Chase is the family Thalia and Luke used to look out for, and the maiden who held up the sky till it almost killed her. Annabeth Chase is the demigod who didn't get her own quest for a long time, and when she realised it was overtaken by Hera... she tore the GODDESS a new one. Annabeth Chase is the anchor that kept Percy tethered, and she took a knife for him without even realising her actions would save him from Achilles' fate.
Annabeth Chase will forever be a lot more than the physical attributes which make her up. And people reducing her to just them is a travesty of the highest order. Especially since this is the same kiddo forced to acknowledge her own prejudiced discrimination. Many of which emerged from traumatic experiences she easily could have used as an excuse to never work out... but at the end of the day, didn't. She was only thirteen when she first started and faced the fact that she was wrong and rearranged her beliefs accordingly. With a lot more grace than many of us ever show.
You are asking everyone why Annabeth no longer looks like you or how you want her to, right? A lot of the complaints I have seen boil down to this facet... Really though, what you should be asking yourself is; why am I, or even the image I have of her in my head, not more like Annabeth just because she looks different than the person playing her?
The answer is pretty obvious, if you ask me.
Annabeth Chase is tenacious, intellectual, daring, wise, and a part of a franchise that has forever stood for acceptance. After all of this, if you still see her for just the corporal features she used to be identified by, I feel sorry for you. Even more so because this would have been a wonderful way of recognising how some of Percy and Annabeth's prominent physical qualities undergo a role reversal in this TV adaptation, and it's beautiful to witness. However, since Walker Scobell's casting doesn't hurt these folks much... I digress.
TLDR: Annabeth Chase is Leah Jeffries. Not just the other way around. And you are making sure it stays that way by having a LITTLE KID be failed by you.

Bro it's funny how some people who insult Leah as Annabeth and do their fancasts being like "this is book accurate Annabeth" bc it's not true lol. If you want a "book accurate" Annabeth, then, according to the descriptions, she needs a tan, to be athletic, curly hair, grey eyes and to be like 6 feet tall. Y'all are just picking the first white, pale, skinny blonde girl with straight hair and blue eyes you see. That's not "book accurate". You just want a white Annabeth. And it reeks of something.
