All you want to do is relax after a hard day of work. No sooner do you sit down when *SPLAAT*! Pie after pie smashes into your face. Cream and crust drips down onto your chest and legs until finally. your head is engulfed with a pie sandwich. You sit there, stunned, humiliated, and covered in pie. Why does this keep happening?

Forty-eight years ago, Dade County Florida, passed an ordinance that prohibited discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.

Former Beauty Queen, singer, and Florida Orange Spokesperson Anita Bryant initiated a campaigned called “Save Our Children” to repeal the Gay Rights ordinance. It gained nation attention, encouraging other homophobes to enact similar campaigns.

But it also energized Gay Rights Activist to fight back.

At a TV appearance in Iowa on October 14, 1977, Gay Rights Activist Thom Higgins interrupted Bryant by throwing a cream pie in her face. She was shocked, with goo dripping down her face. She attempted to pray to gawd to forgive the Higgins "for his deviant lifestyle" then bursting into tears.

Higgins accomplished what every Gay person in America wished they could do, and for that I thank him.

Although the repeal was ultimately successful, Bryant’s career was damaged, causing her to lose her Orange spokesperson contract.

Soon Bryant's marriage to Bob Green failed and in 1980 she divorced him, citing emotional abuse and latent suicidal thoughts. Her once faithful brethren turned against her and Christian fundamentalists called her a hypocrite and shunned her. Because she was no longer invited to appear at their events, she lost a major source of income.

Bryant became an object of ridicule - going from a model Christian spokeswoman to that of a self-righteous bigot. TV hosts such as the Tonight’s Show’s Johnny Carson mocked her.

In the 1990s both state and federal governments filed liens against Bryant claiming more than $116,000 in unpaid taxes.

Another knife in Bryant’s back came in 2021, when Bryant's granddaughter came out publicly announcing her marriage to a woman.

Her final chapter came in December 2024, Anita Bryant died of cancer. I hope her final days were painful.

Just… hope you don't expect anything to be clean by the time I'm done, okay?

Probably one of the sillier pieces Iv'e posted on here. Whether it's the drop of an anvil or the classic pieing, The Warners are no strangers to performing their zany brand of slapstick antics. Their regular special friend/adversary, Ralph the Guard, is no stranger to being on the receiving end of these antics.

This is another piece most of you already saw as rough pencil and pen sketch that was based on one of my leftover Inktober prompts.

Since I've drawn these characters so much, I didn't even use any references for this one. (even though I highly recommend using refs for drawing anyway.) So, I finally decided to redo this thing digitally in full color! I decided to go with hard shadows here for these guys rather going for a painterly look I'd done for the background.

You make to the New Years Even party seconds before midnight since your coworkers neglected to tell you about the part until the last minute. "Ten…" SPLAT! A pie hits you in the face as you enter the room. What just happened?!? "Nine… Eight…" SPLAAT!! Another pie slams into your face. "What?" you utter in shock. "Seven… Six…" "The last person to show up gets pied at midnight" you hear, as SPLAAAT!!! another pie smashes into your face. "Five…" "Its a tradition, the more creamed they get, the better the team will do in the new year." You turn to leave when SPLAAAAT!!!!, another pie hits you. "Four… Three…" SPLAAAAT!!!! another pie slams into your face as someone rips open your shirt. "Two"… SPLOOSH! A pie is smeared on your chest. "One... HapPIE New Year " Pies pelt you as you smile and take it for the good of the team
