HAPPY 16TH BIRTHDAY!!! To this elderly bapy boye!!! he...!!!

#cats #ghhbbb this is the first time I've genuinely considered tumblr blazing a post lol but no.. i shant.. I feel too weird putting financial #information into tumblr or whatever unless I made like a seperate bank account or something not associated with anyhting else lol #but I gave it serious contemplation which is really sayng something (the evil magical spell that all cats cast over u by their perfection)#ANYWAY.................... old man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!#it's technically like march 8th but I did his party a little early. I have other pictures to post later maybe too..hrmm #The '1' candle is actually a '4' candle with the side part cut off because they didn't have any 1s #I went all out (like under $15 still lol) and got new birthday decorations for him instead of using the same old #ones from the past like 5 birthdays that I've done for the cats lol..#His theme was rainbows mostly in as light of colors as I could find #The legal age to drive a car in the US is 16 so.... honk honk beep beep.. I shall go out and buy him the most expensive car on the market #as soon as March 8th comes. then he can run little errands (probably mostly getting kibbles or chicken somewhere)#stealing the rotisserie chickens from walmart or something lol #AND they would let him have them. He would drive up and walk inside and they'd call the manager to come over #and they would be so moved by his presence and his big goofy stare that they would just be like..... okey.. have all the chicken in the #entire store. Actually. have the store. it's yours now. And This would continue all the way up the chain until he was handed #the entire walmart company. And every other company. a boy who owns everything. probably wouldnt use it for evil. he'd just abolish #everything and then focus on eating chickens.. ........ chibken son...

absolutely impeccable clip. bertie flopping over so ridiculously as he almost gets hit by a car. jeeves look of confusion turned concern, then him rushing over to help him up. bertie being confused and pissed off while jeeves fixes brinkley with a look of open disgust/detestation (basically recoiling when he calls him reggie). jeeves inviting a pleasantly surprised and curious bertie into the ganymede club for a drink. this is art, my friends.

#jeeves and wooster #the casting for this show was so perfect most of the times. one of its best features tbh #i can literally picture no one other than fry and laurie as the real life jeeves and wooster #also the character development from the beginning up to this point is so delicious #this last episode is just dripping with the affection they've developed for each other over the course of the show

i think one of the reasons i enjoy the percy series so much is because it’s an adaptation of the novels and not word for word the same.

at first i was a little upset by all the changes, but after rereading the books, i actually like the series even more now. as much as we all adore the books, i think we can agree that they’re not perfect. sometimes there’s plot holes, inconsistencies, or just bad writing in general. this gives rick a chance to fix those things, and that’s OKAY.

the series isn’t perfect either, don’t get me wrong, but it is nice to see the characters going on the same adventures even with some variation to the original story. i think this will allow the characters to be fleshed out more.

we have to remember that a tv show and a book is not the same medium, so the way these things are presented cannot be identical. otherwise the characters in the show would probably seem pretty flat since the books are only from percy’s perspective. the series allows us to learn more about the motives and personalities of other characters, be it annabeth, grover, or luke (personally, i’m really excited to see how his character’s story goes).

anyway, all of this is to say that the percy series is great for what it is (an adaptation of a book series). yes it could be better (cough longer and more episodes cough), but i personally really enjoy it so far.

#like let’s be honest there’s definitely some things from the books that need to be fixed #namely the weird family-but-also-love-interest dynamic between luke and annabeth #luke should not like annabeth romantically At All #i’m really hoping rick fixes that in the show #which i think they have so far…#i think they have more of solely the found family dynamic in the show #i’m really excited to see luke’s character arc #i hated him in the books so hopefully this will change my mind #i think charlie is doing a really good job of portraying him #(god this cast is so perfect tho let’s talk about that)#like that’s the other main reason i love this show #the casting was just so perfect and i can’t imagine anyone else playing these characters now #when i reread the books i literally pictured them as walker and leah and aryan like-#anyway sorry for the rambling i just have fallen in love with this universe all over again #i’m 20 but feel like i’m back in middle school 😭#pjo #percy jackson #percy series #percy jackson and the olympians #annabeth chase #grover underwood #luke castellan #rick riordan #walker scobell #leah sava jeffries #aryan simhadri

like, two years ago I was doing some writing for a comic where Lorenzo de’ Medici and Francesco de’ Pazzi would’ve had a 1959 Ben Hur-Messala lovers turned bitter enemies sort of dynamic, but the Medici Family-Roman Imperialism comparatives I was working into the subtext were a lot to unpack for a story that started because I think the Medici show sucks

#I’ve watched season 2 five times. It’s terrible but Matteo Martari was perfect casting the likes of which we will never see again #if I had a couple thousand dollars and not a debilitating amount of student loan debt I’d plan a trip to Italy and do some visual #research in Florence or something. go to milan for sure. cry about Machiavelli without a doubt #ACTUALLY FUCK WHAT I WAS JUST SAYING I’d check out the 1400s Florence set at the Cinecitta. I’d still check out Florence tho #I want to see the art galleries and experience emotions about Dante and Machiavelli #(check out the cinecitta florence set for reference purposes etc. they already did the hard work. I just want to take pictures)

People hating on a literal child because she doesn’t physically look like a character in a book who we only ever saw in concept art and fanart vs me who was kinda sad when I realized book Percy wasn’t black because the description of a young boy living in New York who’s close with his single mother parent who is constantly seen as stupid troublemaker by both peers and teachers and his moms awful boyfriend and who’s only friend is the only other Outcast (non white) classmate who’s only ally is the literature teacher who then he finds also has doubts about him felt very if not fully black then at least mixed coded.

But then I moved on and enjoyed the story for what it gave me, can some of these people say the same 🤔

#I have not yet watched the show I’ll probably wait for more episodes bc I canceled D+ like two months ago #but idk many of yall are not 12 anymore and saying Leah won’t do a good job or it won’t be as good #we only saw any of these characters in our minds eye #or concept art #im not saying you can’t be disappointed when things aren’t 100% a match bc you want to see a good adaptation of the Book #and I need to do a reread but I would think Annabeth’s whole other shit aka running away cross country at 7 always being nosy and wanting #a quest being ready for battle but learning to have fun too #is more integral to her character ESPECIALLY IN MARK OF ATHENA #the blond hair in the books is a trait from Athena so it’s not a unique hurdle other girls in the cabin wouldn’t also face #it mattered bc she was a main character #But taking the core struggle of not being taken seriously works pretty damn well for any girl but especially black girls AT ALL TIMES #and not to be funny but saying the other characters are already diverse feels like a side step #like look Hazel in her eyes and say not being taken seriously BECAUSE of your HAIR COLOR is on the same level #as not being taken seriously because you’re a black girl #and if this breaches containment #yes the show would have been fine even if a picture perfect accurate cast had been hired #but if we want to move past people being cast bc of how they look vs how they act #you can’t hold the gospel of a book series against literal children who are probably having the time of their life #or would be if grown ass adults were attacking them bc SOMEONE ELSE HITED THEM #if the show is bad it’s not bc Annabeth is black or Percy is blonde #hell in good omens both leads are older in the book they’re described as looking 25 and 30 #can you imagine good omens as it is now with book accurate casting bc I can’t

#about my ocs #like how Felix and her dad are kinda an embodiment of the child falling victim to the sins of their parent or whatnot #Nisha is an example of the sacrifices you’re willing to make as a parent for your child #lots of my characters show you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover #loving people even when they aren’t perfect #Sébastien is an example of feeling like an outsider in your own family #August is re learning to love yourself after the world beat it out of you #Beau is finding the light of life after living in darkeness #the entirety of the cast for ‘what makes us human’ is literally different responses and interpretations for that very question. and they can #all be right and all be flawed #I think about my ocs a crazy amount in case it isn’t obvious #for the most part they aren’t just faces like I think REALLY hard about them #which is why I can write them so well when I want to. when I make them interact with their world #anyways I was staring at a picture of Teuflisch just a little too hard that’s what prompted this lol
