I am 100% here for aggressively rejecting antisemitism in all its forms.
I implore y'all to aggressively reject false, unkind generalizations about Muslims for the same reasons.
I reject categorical condemnations of Muslims not only as politically stupid, morally wrong, and intellectually dishonest, but because such things are offensive to me in the way they slander Muslims I know, respect, and care about.
We can criticize ugly, hateful, and violent Islamist movements without wrongly suggesting that all Muslims support them. We can criticize child abuse commited by Muslims or Catholics or anyone else without suggesting that all of their coreligionists share in their crimes.
Fuck that. That's not Jewish.
The Jewish thing to do is to reject obviously false generalizations, reject intellectual dishonesty, and reject bigotry.
That's a hill I'm happy to die on. That's a Jewish hill.

Ok so like… on the topic of casting none Greek actors in Greek mythology adaptation, I feel like we don’t consider enough that there are tons of explicitly none Greek characters in the mythology, who either get ignored or whitewashed (and I’m not just talking about Andromeda) and how these casting directors seem only to care to reflect the diversity of America, rather than the diversity of the Mediterranean and Greek mythology as a whole. So it leads to uninspired casting.
Like… cast a Georgian actress for Medea, her foreignness is essential to her character.
Cast a Palestinian actress for Andromeda (since her kingdom is sometimes placed in Jaffa, Palestine)
Cast a Lebanese actress for Europa
Cast a black actor for Memnon
Cast Turkish actors for the Trojans
Cast Egyptian actors for the countless Egyptian characters within myth like Aegyptus and his sons
Cast Moroccan actresses for the Hesperides
Hell, maybe be a bit silly and cast an Arab for Hermes since he’s the father of Arabius the ancestor of Arabs, I wouldn’t bat an eye if you cast an Iranian actor for Perseus or his son Perses since he’s is also said to be the ancestor of Persians.
But at the end of the day, maybe have at least some Greek writers and actors making these movies/shows? I’ve noticed they make them better lol

Hello there hope your doing well! I aint sure weather you write for this or not! But I was wondering if I could request some friendship headcanons with Lancelot and Percival?
Thank you!
(Feel free to delete my ask:)
Hello! I'm doing very well, I hope you are as well!
I definitely am okay with an ask like this, I love sharing my headcanons!! Also Lance and Percy's friendship def is very special to me, so thank you so much for asking about them!!
Tagging @alwaysamor in case you wanted to read thesseeee (since I know how you are about my nnt/4kota content 😌)
~*~
-Honestly, first of all, Percy is always asking Lance questions. Like, yes, Percy is very curious and inquisitive by nature and he questions lots of people, but whenever he has some random question that doesn't need to be answered by any specific person, he always asks Lance (as long as he can find him)
-Relating to that, Percy is the kind of person who will ask the most out of pocket questions and Lance will think he's crazy at first before genuinely starting to consider it, despite not actually wanting to. Like, they'd be walking through a field and Percy'd just be like, "How many blades of grass do you think we'd need to recreate my entire body weight?" And Lance would just give him a look and ignore the question, but then five minutes later, outta nowhere he's just like, "It has to be at least a thousand, right?" And Percy is very confused until he suddenly remembers his previous question
-ALSO relating to that, Percy is entirely convinced that Lance knows everything. As far as Percy is concerned, Lance quite literally knows all. He has all the answers to every single possible factual question that anyone could ask him. No matter how many times anyone tries to tell him differently, he insists that they're wrong
-These two are unintentionally chaotic together. Like, okay, both are pretty chaotic just in general, and most often Lance is on purpose, but when the two of them are together, they don't even really realize how absolutely unhinged they're being until someone points it out to them (i.e. when they tried to find the answer to the grass question)
-Percy is one of the very few people who knows how much Lance enjoys flora and general plant life (based on my own Lance hcs) and Lance never tells him to keep it a secret necessarily, but some intuitive part of him makes him do so and Lance was surprised but grateful when Percy explained such a thing one day
-Percy isn't exactly the best at reading the room or other people, but Lance's moods are a bit easier for him. Mostly because whenever he's pestering the poor guy for one reason or another, Lance always has some kind of sarcastic comment or a "jus' shut up already, would ya?" Or a sigh or huff or snort. There's always some kind of noise or reaction, and Percy's gotten used to that. So if Lance ever just stays quiet with zero reaction to Percy's antics, he immediately knows that something's off
-Whenever Lance is restless and under-stimulated (more Lance hcs), he specifically seeks Percy out because Percy's rambles and hyperactivity help him balance put
-On the other side of that, whenever Percy notices that Lance is overstimulated, he does his best to make sure everyone else leaves him alone (except for Tristan)
-Both are always very quick to defend each other. Percy thinks Lance is one of the most awesome people ever and doesn't ever hesitate to say so. Lance may call Percy an idiot and all kinds of other names but the moment anyone tries to genuinely underestimate Percy, he'll make sure they know how wrong they are one way or another
-Major younger sibling/older sibling energy between them
-No matter how cheery and full of energy Percy is, he's, ofc, not completely immune to upset. No matter what the reason, if he ever notices Percy's mood is down for any reason, he'll take him somewhere quiet and they'll just sit for awhile. Lance typically isn't very good at comforting most people, so this is usually the best he can do - sit calmly with someone and make sure they know he's there. For Percy, those times are always helpful, Lance being a peaceful presence beside him and making him feel safe (due to that older/younger dynamic between them)
-(if you don't ship Trislance, just ignore this one) Percy doesn't pay much attention to people's romantic interests or who likes who in that way, it's not something he typically thinks about, but one day Donny makes some kind of joke or comment about how Lance and the prince are totally crushing on each other and, after it was explained to him what that means, he suddenly made it his mission to be Lance's wingman and try and help him in his romantic advances towards Tristan, which Lance both loves and hates
-(if you don't ship Persians, just ignore this one) Lance, of course, being the extremely observant person he is, notices almost right away what's going on between Percy and Nasiens, and totally starts nudging them closer together. Percy doesn't understand much about love and romance and all that, but if Lance tells him, "Hey, Nasiens would love if someone gave him this flower and it would make him super happy" then Percy is immediately on it (he volunteers as tribute) or sometimes Lance will just offhandedly mention something or make some comment about something Nasiens does or likes or wishes or wants or he'll very purposely ask Nasiens a specific question while making sure Percy can hear and then he'll just sit back and watch as Percy uses the information to do things that'll make Nasiens happy without even really realizing why he's doing it
-Food. These two 100% bond over food
-They're both always trying to compete against each other but they will team up together without hesitation in order to beat anyone else at whatever it is they're competing about
~*~
I hope you enjoyed at least some of these!! A lot of them are also based on a lot of my headcanons for Percy and Lance just by themselves, tbh
Thank you again for the ask!! You're super awesome!! 💜💜💜

"Arabian gulf"
Go fuck yourself, kill yourself asap, I'm not sharing any drop of Persian gulf , eternal Persian gulf , Our persian gulf.
SAY IT .
P.E.R.S.I.A.N.G.U.L.F
If I see anyone call it Arabian gulf again i will start bloodshed.
This is a theft of Persian heritage and land. Iran has sky , land , and seas! Funny how Persian gulf is everywhere on every map from every dynasty and timelines but countries of Persian gulf are pretty fucking new to the map.
This isn't nationalism , this is protection from Arab colonization, every single island in it have a Persian name , people there speak Persian , achomi , bastaki you can't get rid of us iranic people! Never!

Hindustan, India, where do the names come from, why? Why does the world use them?
Well, let's look first at other countries like Japan (Nippon) - Land of the Rising Sun or where the Sun Rises. This is what Japan's always called itself.
Others, over time, language, translation led to, and made stick, Japan. It's like how Germany is actually Deutschland to themselves, technically. This is what's known as an Exonym, or name given/used by other people/country outside the one being referenced. This is led to creation of myths, stories, fairy tales, and more about cultures as well. Back to India.
Well, the original people behind the connection to the name are best known as the Indus Valley people/civilization.
But that's not what they were called amongst themselves. No. In fact, these people who originated and farmed the Sindh valley/Sindh river, were first given their eventual "Indus related" name but the Persians.
When the Persians first started interacting and trading with the people we know as Indus Valley, they referred to them as the people of the Sindh river or valley, however, in their native tongue, the S became an H.
So the Hindh valley, Hindh people. Eventually the greeks and romans would show up, and call them the Indos, or Indus people for the river (as translated into their tongues...remind me again how many river based names there are again in the world, even for.....just river itself) go figure. Because people usually fucking set up near rich fresh water sources cuz... we need it to live. That's why people set up along the Nile too. And...well, everywhere. Water kinda important.
The Indus valley people were not Hindu as we know it today. In fact, at one point, they practiced a religion older than the vedic, we just don't know what that is do to proto indo european influences and the impact they had in forming the vedic era pre Hindu.
Continuing. Now we reach the eventual evolution of Hindhu through the word and alteration of Sindh/Sindhu people - of that river/past it.
Stan. Well, in Sanskrit there is sthāna - or place. And in Persia, there is stan (a suffix you see in many Islamic countries as well given the evolution of the language), and the similarity in sanskrit and ancient persian is likely because of PIE influences in both of them so, outside countries started using interchangeably (and of course eventually so do the people within an empire when you're trading and referring to yourself and building alliances, agreements or going to war) you adopt those terms: Hindustan, or India. But Hindustan was never meant to be the land of the Hindu (in terms of religion) because it was a given name by the river, and we're talking about the vedic religion.
Now, I left one name out of here, because it is specifically NOT an exonym. It's the name India historically identifies with from within its own epics, including the most well known, Mahabharata (romanized/english) said closer to (god it's hard typing these sounds in freaking english): Mah-bharat.
Bharat is the key there. So, what's it mean?
Well, it's important to note the word first comes from Bhāratavarṣa - which comes from the Vedic people Bharatas - who are first mentioned in the Rig Veda.
They are the principle people who come from Aryavarta - land of the Aryans, which is why the word is still word in Indic languages, and even a used name. Like, it's a used name for real. You'll meet guys called Aryan.
Anyways, continuing. So, the oldest known name for Indian proper, and you might if you pay attention to Indian news see this making a comeback, is Bharat.
To many from the outside, it's come off heated, people are unsure why, and so on for the name change. But honestly? It's just what India was once called. It's no different than when Mumbai replaced in name Bombay. That name, Bombay was given by the Portuguese. Later (I can't recal the year, someone comment it) the Indian government decided to change the name and reclaim it to Mumbai. But someone asked me about this recently like why all the Bharat stuff and talk online in places.
For anyone who's seen it and wondered, I hope this helps.
It's a history of language, names, and other people sometimes making names stick and translation and evolution of words and culture and empires.
Closing with how did India come to stick? Latin. Then everyone who inherited the legacy, evolution of the language, and the love - all the romance languages that built on it. Eventually, by the 16th or was it 17th century, most of the world started calling it India when they
traded, colonized more, w.e.
The Latin transliteration of Indos, Indica - India.
But the term was used sort of before.
Herodotus in his writings mentions the Indus people, and then calls on of them, "An Indian."
But, yeah, it was never a name for/from those the land themselves.
