it would be cool to see the male and female dancers switched but i think theres a meaning to it. the male dancers being outside represents him showing his masculine side to the world while his feminine side is something thats more hidden, something only he sees. him getting pushed around by the female dancers to signify his struggle with that side of himself. something like that. i didnt feel like the choreography had much sexual connotations tbh. for me in the mv when jimin is being lifted by the crowd and many different hands are touching and moving his body that felt more sexual

I've watched this analysis, yep. I'm not trying to invalidate it or say it's wrong because it's not my place; nobody can tell you it's wrong.

I had a lot of thoughts to sort through before writing this down. It's only a few hours until Jimin does his live and maybe explains more about the song, but I decided I wanted to say my interpretation nevertheless. I wanted to write this before Jimin went live and destroyed our theories with the TRUTH.

I would call this "Like Crazy: notes on loneliness".

I don't see anything explicitly sexual about the choreo either, I don't think it's particularly sexy or romantic either and I don't think it's telling a love story. Maybe there is a love story as background, but it's not a happy one.

I feel like I can't ignore the music video, and the things Jimin said about the song being a breakup song, escapism and avoidance of a reality that hurts you. And he used the movie like crazy to portray all of that, so for me it's impossible to not see the romantic connotations. It's there in the voice over, a man and a woman talking at the beginning and at the end of the song, the men and women kissing in the video, too. I think those two elements in particular don't leave anything for interpretation. There's a very clear intention to tell a story laced with romance, it doesn't matter if it's Jimin's personal love story or even about BTS hiatus. Friends "break up" too. Portrayal of a straight couple is the easiest, most obvious way to represent it, imo.

I don't have the lyrics at hand, since I'm on my phone, so I won't talk about them too much but from the top of my head, the lyrics aren't exactly romantic and they're more focused on the escapism part of the concept.

I'm not sure how much analysis is there to be made about this choreo because imo it's way less conceptual than set me free choreo was. This one feels more vibey, like there's some story telling but it's not really the point of the choreo.

It starts with Jimin alone walking towards the group of people. I believe the women are closer to him because it would've been too much to have the men touching him like that 😂 can you imagine. The men still reach out and touch him or hold him pretty much in the same way the women do, but having women between him and the men kind of "softens the blow". It would've been too on the nose to have the men hug him like that. I'm curious to see how did he do the choreo in Korean music shows, if the men still hold Jimin or that was only for the dance practice room and the American TV show (because in those places nobody cares about him being hugged romantically by men).

Then the next night the choreo was revealed on the Fallon show and voila 😂 there was Jimin being held by men and women.

For me, I see similarities between the beginning of this choreo and the beginning of set me free choreo. Both start with a group of people. In SMF2 it's a group of people that's compressing Jimin, that's caging him in a violent way. In like crazy, the group of people is harmonious, they're all breathing together and it opens and closes, it's not really imprisoning him. It's a soft embrace, sexy even.

I think I mentioned it before, and from my text too you can tell that my mind immediately went to people. The whole MV was about people, about Jimin being alone amidst everyone else, Jimin being by his own while everyone else had somebody. And I realized today that making both choreographies oriented to human interaction makes so much sense with who Jimin is because his relationships are the most important thing for him. He's a people's person.

I don't know how much input he has on the choreographies and how he imagines them, who gets the dancers for him, etc. There's a lot about the creative process that I really have no idea about. I know that Jimin didn't make the choreo himself, so this is just me assuming that he at least gave ideas or his concept for it.

He "escapes" from the men who look like they're stumbling and fighting and falling (for him) behind him, and is pulled into the women's circle. That part with the women gives me the feeling of "everyone wants a piece of me", and he's being pushed around and tossed and turned. I imagine this is something real that many famous people feel. Especially young celebrities.

There are parts he dances with men only, others where he dances with only women, and for the chorus everyone gathers. Everyone has a partner except for him. He's the only one dancing alone and that's definitely deliberate. It's not like they couldn't have got him a dance partner, no. He's supposed to dance alone because that's what the song is about.

Because I try to keep in my mind that it kind of is a song about a breakup and all of what Jimin has said, I see a few interpretations for the part where he dances mirroring the girl.

There's the possibility that the girl isn't really representing Jimin per se but rather she's playing someone else Jimin sees himself refected in. There's this whole concept within the concept of love about "seeing yourself in someone else", and for me it's one of the options that the girl is actually representing a romance interest. Someone with whom Jimin has a fleeting, maybe significant but very short time together. A relationship that worked, even if for a moment.

Then there's also the possibility that it IS Jimin Jimin, and a woman was chosen to play as "himself" for aesthetic reasons, to give dynamism and softness and even sexiness to the choreo the way only a woman could provide; or it was decided it would be a woman as some play on gender and sexuality.

In the end, he walks back alone just like he started. If you look at the backup dancers, the men are like backhugging the women but they shake them off and everyone leaves on their own, too.

For me, it's like the choreo is about fleeting moments of connection, about mingling but still ending up alone. Maybe even about chasing that appropriate companionship but not finding it.

I can't exactly say that it's about love because there's no love story in sight, but it seems to be about people and loneliness and about seeking comfort or momentarily happiness in superficial relationships, partying, drinking.
