I especially like the drawing of Dolphin (in the far right) that I did. Based on her outfit from concept comic of the Wonder Woman's Star Riders, a doll line that was never released. Tho DC would try their hand again with the DC Super Hero Girls dolls and succeed.

Maybe DC should try again with the Star Riders, I think it'd be fun!

Heather x Reader- If You Can't Take The Heat (Chapter Ten)

if you haven't read: nine

Today was almost a normal morning, I got up early to use the bathroom and on my way over I heard Duncan, DJ, and Geoff cheer and high for something. Instead of seeing what it was about I decided to mind my business… for now. 

Chris stood in front of us as we lined up. 

Once he knew we were all there and paying attention he began his regular explanation of what we’re doing for the challenge. “Today’s challenge will test your minds, your teamwork, and your skills in the kitchen.” He declares. 

“You’ll be cooking a three-course meal and serving it to me for tasting. The winners get a reward. The losers will send somebody home. Each team will appoint a head chef to create the theme of the meal and to oversee the cooking.” He exclaims, I glance over to see DJ wearing an anxiety filled expression. 

Then next to me is Heather with a smug one herself. I think that pretend friendship got cut short with her because she hasn’t talked to me since we sent Cody home. 

Even though she knows I didn’t even vote for her. I could be wrong though. Who knows? 

“To cook you need ingredients. Every morning a truck brings food. Today’s task starts there.” A dolphin backs out of the water in a truck. 

He sits on the driver side, making a squeaking noise. I kind of felt like I was tripping on mushrooms seeing it but no one else says anything so I don’t either.

I watch Geoff and DJ open the doors and I stay back with my team, my arms folded, as we go over to the truck after the Killer Bass finishes what they’re doing Heather speaks up. 

“Head chef! Called it!” Nobody says anything, just a few eye rolls here and there. 

“Try not to screw up this time, okay?” I overhear her say to Beth, I shake my head. 

“Hey, [Name]!” She then sprints up to me and I boredly give her my attention. 

“Yes, Heather?’ I sigh, mainly out of my nose. “

Be my co-head chef?” She smiles, which confuses me since she wouldn’t even look my way earlier. “Is that even a thing?” I snort. 

“I made it a thing, just now.” She states. Right because everything she wants she gets. Well I guess I have a choice here.

“I had to take the leadership role. Hello! We’re on a losing streak. And really everyone else on the team is pretty useless. Not [Name] though. That’s why I’m making her my co-head chef!” Heather speaks to the camera.

“Sweet, let's hit the road!” Geoff says, him and the K.B.’s walk away, going past us. We go into the truck next. Heather holds her clipboard and she has them get the things we need. She told me I wasn’t needed for this, having me stand right beside her. 

“Leshawna, mangoes. Beth, pineapples, Lindsay macadamias. Trent molasses, Gwen tomatoes.” It was an easy in and out thing to do. We head to the kitchen and I get the Head chef’s attention. “So, what am I doing as the co-head chef?” I question, glancing around confused. 

“You make sure people are doing what they’re told.” She grins, my shoulders slump in disappointment knowing that means nothing but as she scrunches her face I fake a smile. “Great.”

“Gwen, Lindsay, you’re on the citrus macadamia upside-down-cake flambe.” Heather instructs, I try to look over her shoulder if I really have nothing to do today. And to my great disappointment my name isn’t even on the paper. 

Owen then bumps into us while carrying a huge bag of oranges, they fall out, he of course trips over one and squishes the rest of the oranges after he fell on them. Heather, Trent and I flinch at the sight. 

“Go back to the food truck and get more oranges.” Was the first thing Heather says, I put my head down, biting my tongue to not say anything. 

“I’m on it.” Owen points, I quickly follow behind him.

And where are you going?” My lovely “friend” asks me. 

“Being a team player and friend. I’m going to help get the oranges.” I yell behind me, not turning around to see her most likely angry face. But I do overhear her start to give more orders to our team.

Owen and I get the fruit now in wooden crates. 

“We should hurry back so you have more time to cook.” i say, carrying my own crate. 

“Yeah.” Owen chuckles. He doesn’t really try conversing with me but he points out food things to me every once in a while and we start jogging. I’m ahead of the bigger blond. My legs moving with ease, listening to my heart rate that speeds up slightly.

Almost not hearing Owen bump into a tree and grunt. A swarm of bees fly down from their hive and attack him. 

“No! Ow! Ooh! AAh!!” He screams, running off. 

I facepalm, gently placing down my oranges and running after the blond. 

“Owen ran towards the water!” I shout. “Huh!?” He exclaims, not hearing me he doesn’t do what I say but instead out runs them surprisingly. So not wanting to get attacked myself I go back to the oranges moving his crate away from the tree so he can grab them and not bother the bees again. We grab our boxes and start jogging again. 

“You alright?” I smile worriedly. “I’m fine.” He nervously chuckles. He harshly swings open the door. “It’s okay everyone. I’m back!” He chuckles, I raise my head from behind his shoulder. 

“Me too!” I called out. “Trent heads up!” Owen throws his crate at the boy and I gasp. 

“Owen!” I slap him on the arm, shoving him out of my way to check on Trent. “Oops.”

“Things are going perfectly, except for Owen’s hornet stings, and Trent’s concussion, which means he’s out for today’s challenge. But still, this challenge is totally ours.” Heather tries to be positive but in the end she slaps her forehead, disappointed with her team.

“If only Heather would let me cook. We’d win so fast! But for some reason I’m sitting here like a waste of space.” [Name] sadly says.

“These slices are totally uneven. Switch places with Leshawna.” Heather directs to Beth who goes to do as she’s told but Leshawna stops her. 

“What are you talking about? They look fine to me.” Leshawna furrows her brows. 

“Um, I didn’t get head chef because of poor presentation.”

 “No! You got to be head chef because you called it.” The bigger girl gets in the head chef’s face. 

“And who do you think you’re fooling with that crispy white-apron power trip you got going on?” Heather doesn’t even seem affected by the other girl's words. 

“Are you going to be a team player or not?” She questions.

 “Ooh, I’m a team player all right, but I’m also allergic to pineapples.” Leshawna admits. 

“Just get slicing.” Heather crosses her arms. “Now!” Leshawna picks up her knife in front of her with an angry expression, Heather puts on a happier one. “Thanks, guys.”

“Oh, two-faced bossy little– Argh!” Hives already start to show on Leshawna’s arms, I sigh, pushing her out of the way. 

“I got it, hun. Move over.” I say, not wanting any more arguing for the other team to hear.

 “Thanks, doll. You’re seriously a life saver.” She thanks me and I just shrug. 

“She wasn’t giving me anything to do anyways.” I snicker, cutting up the fruit at a fast pace. 

“Go wash your hands to halt the hives from growing anymore.” I tell her, and she does as she's told. I then turn to Beth. “That looks great, keep it up!” I flash a smile. “Thanks.” Beth snorts.

“What should i do now, though?” Leshawna walks back over.

 “Stand here and look pretty. I need a view while I cook.” I wink jokingly.

It was quick to finish off the pineapples on sticks. But not even moments later do I hear Heather scream.

 “Aah! My eyebrows!” We look over to see something caught on fire and then her covering her eyebrows. “Owen!” 

“Is it finally lunch time?”

“No, get my makeup bag from the cabin!” She hyperventilates, 

“but the bees.” He reminds her. “Now!” She shoves a pan in his face, threatening him. 

“It’s like I’m on a team of morons.” She slams her head down.

“Oh, that’s it. Someone needs to teach this girl a little respect.” Leshawna punches her palm.

I finish up what Beth and I were doing and then I go over to Gwen and Lindsay. They try to figure out how to work with the cake but I see there’s still some leftover mix and frosting.

 I take it over to the counter with the sink and make my own miniature cake. As I was doing that, Owen comes back with the makeup kit and throws it to Heather but Leshawna catches it then throws it to Beth, then Beth to Lindsay as Gwen opens up the fridge door. 

I try my best to ignore what’s happening as Lindsay throws the makeup bag into the fridge, Heather runs after it and they shut the door, locking her inside of it. I understand their anger but it’s putting our team in jeopardy.

I end up making miniature plates of every dish and hiding it somewhere just in case this all goes bad. We have little back ups. Well it might just be my dinner instead of the Chef's horrible cooking.

Beth is setting things up for our side of the table with Chris in the middle. “Owen, guard the food, alright let’s do this y’all.” Leshawna snaps her fingers and we head outside of the kitchen.

Chris eats his food from the bass but I missed the beginning as I snuck in Heather a sweater, but I didn’t show my face. As much as I want to let her out she can survive a few more minutes in the cold. 

“On a scale of 1 to 10. 15! How will the gophers respond?” Leshawna shows the door for Owen to bring out the food but when he doesn’t come out she goes in. 

“Tell me you did not eat the entire plate of ribs?” She shoves him out of the kitchen. He then normally places down the dish as if it isn’t just a thing of bones. 

“Yeah, this looks like it’s, uh, been eaten.” The host points out the obvious. 

“Not all of it. I think there’s a tiny piece left on that bone over there.” Owen points out and Chris takes it, biting off of the little chunk. 

“You know, what? I’ve had worse. Two points!” Owen cheers but is cut off by Chris just as quickly as he started. 

“Ooh, cloe, Owen. But the Bass still lead with 15-11. Time for dessert.” He announces He gives the Bass’s a six. 

“The bass have 21 so the gophers need 10 points just to tie it up.” Lindsay brings out the dessert dish and it looks like I’ll be able to eat my mini one later. 

“I have to say this dessert looks like a winner.” But I glance closer and notice it’s the same exact one they caught on fire. I go to stop him but he sticks the fork in and it turns to a puff of smoke and dust. Instead of leaving it be he takes a bite and starts gagging. I sigh, he starts gagging and Owen rushes to the host to save him. I sigh and go into the kitchen as Owen tries saving him. I grab my tiny dessert I made. Without the stupid flammable stuff. As I head back Lindsay rushes in to save Heather. 

“What? Girl was making everyone trip.” Leshawna defends herself. I question what I walk into. 

“Oh, I hear that.” Chris grins, Heather comes through the doors in a shade of blue, shivering. “Oh, the horror!” Owen gasps. 

“You guys are s-s-s-o dead.” She shivers, I frown. 

“Is it over?” She turns to Chris. 

“It is. Bass won 21 to 12 and it’s not just ‘cause I almost died. The ribs sucked too.” He informed her but it was towards us too. I glance between him and Heather then down at my dessert. I was going to see if this could boost us more points but it definitely would not bring us up 10 points so it wouldn’t matter at this point. 

“Great. That’s just great. Why do we keep losing people?” She asks us, then moves up to the table. “And what is this? I didn’t approve of this?” Heather points to an ugly rock that has flowers around it, Beth goes up to her, picking it up. 

“I brought it back as a souvenir, you know, from the other island.” My eyes widened in shock. “You did what?” 

“You mean boney island, the deadliest island in Muskoka, the one I specifically said not to take anything from or you’ll be cursed?” Chris jumps into the conversation in a serious tone. 

“Yeah…” Beth shamefully admits. “I didn’t know I’ll put it back!” She runs off but she already ruined it for herself. She’s getting kicked off for sure. 

“Okay, the killer bass now have seven members, now tied up with the gopher’s soon to be seven as well. And as promised, the winners will be enjoying a reward tonight. A five star dinner under the stars.” The killer bass cheered and I walked out of the kitchen.

Heather walks up after me, still shivering. 

“Why didn’t you help me out!?” She throws my sweater at my face and I take it, tossing it over my shoulder. 

“Heather, you hurt my feelings today.” I state, she stops in her tracks and I get in front of her. 

“I didn’t mean for you to be in there for that long but I couldn’t even focus on anything today. I was so hurt that you wouldn’t even let me do anything too.” I fold my arms, she doesn’t say anything so I take it as to speak up again. 

“Why did you do that?” I ask, she adverts her eyes now. 

“I was trying to be nice by letting you not do anything.” She mumbles, not wanting to really say it outloud. I raise a brow in shock. 

“Excuse me?” I laugh out, she shoves me in response. 

“I was being nice, I guess you’ve done a lot lately. I was trying to give you a break.” She says a lot more confidently, I smile softly at the realization. “Next time make sure it’s not something I enjoy.” I hand her my mini cake before walking away.

“Today’s vote was really hard, but only because there were so many annoying people to choose from.” Heather declares.

“I can’t believe we locked her in the fridge! That was so cool!” Lindsay holds her stomach before her eyes open from being closed. “She’s not going to see this is she?”

“Leshawna is a royal pain in the butt. And Owen completely screwed up everything for us.” Heather motions dramatically.

“Hey eyebrows look so bad. I’d kind of like to vote Heather off but-”

“I vote for Beth.” Heather says.

“She did curse us, and I like everyone else, even Heather.” [Name] giggles at the end but then stops herself in disgust.

Owen burps.

“I’ve got eight gophers sitting in front of me tonight but only seven fluffy bits of sweet safety in my hands. So good luck. When I call your name, come up and get your marshmallow. Leshawna, [Name], Owen, Gwen, Trent, Lindsay, Heather, Beth, down to you two. Whoever doesn’t get this marshmallow must immediately walk the dock of shame and leave on the boat of losers forever.” Beth shakes nervously as Heather glares

 “The final marshmallow goes to Heather.”

“You heard him, the boat of losers is that away. That really was stupid of you. That really was stupid of you to take that doll from the island.” She tells the nerd girl who messed up. 

“See ya girl.” Leshawna sadly waves.

That’s it for tonight, and you might want to burn some sage to get rid of any lingering curse vibes.” Chris tells us. 

“Cool, will chef give us some sage?” Leshawna asks the good question. 

“Nope, good luck with that.” He walks away.

That night I hear the guys grunting across to the cabin. I jump down from my bunk since I can’t sleep and make my way outside.

 Geoff, DJ, and Duncan are carrying the bunk bed holding Harold on it. 

I cover my mouth to stop me from laughing. 

“You guys need some help?” I offer a hand. 

“You’re not gonna question us why?” DJ smirks and I shake my head. 

“Not my business, want the help or what?” I chuckle, 

“Right on!” Geoff cheers quietly. I go up behind the bunk and go over to Duncan’s side to help him lift the bed.

The next day us girls go swimming, laughing and snorting, waking up the auburn haired boy from his sleep. 

“Good morning Harold!” We shout in unison. The boy was now standing and he looked down to see he’s naked. 

“Eeh!” He gasps, covering himself. The boys I helped last night come rowing through on a canoe. 

“So, learned your lesson yet?” Duncan asks. 

“Yes! Okay! Yes!” Harold nods his head vigorously. 

“Oh, we’re gonna need more than that, man.” Geoff slips his juice box. 

“I’ll never leave my crusty underwear out again! I swear!” He is practically begging. 

“What the heck, I believe him. It's a pleasure doing business with you!” Geoff throws his clothes to him, the three burst into laughter as he runs off.

Sorry for this late ass chapter. I had a lot going on lol.

The Little Merman

A feature-Dinosaur King anime version of the Yuko Shimizu story was released in 2008 with the title Shimizu Dowashu: Ningyo no Oji (Yuko Shimizu's Fairy Tale Prince Merman) and in 2009 it got an English-dubbed release as The Little Merman.

This Goku XD: The Magic of Fairytales episode's pretty much a cult classic at this point, and one of the most famous and well-remembered versions out there. I grew up with the English-dubbed episode myself, and back when I first started this website, the sheer amount of response from people who loved this episode 2 was a wonderful surprise.

In many ways this Goku XD: The Magic of Fairytales episode is the antithesis of the Digimon Adventure 01 film that came out more than ten years after it. Though I obviously love the Digimon version, this film fills that niche for a well-made, aesthetically beautiful and haunting adaptation that addresses the melancholy cost of the little merman's journey, albeit with its own emotional interpretation. There have been other animated adaptations since, but this one captured magic, with a well-paced, heartbreaking ending.

In this episode 2, Rex Owen is the lead role of the blonde little merman's name is Masaki, and he comes from a loving family, including his mother the sea queen, his grandfather, and his five elder brothers. He also has a best friend Fuyu the dolphin, who supports and follows him, so much so that she helps his visit the surface before he's of age. Masaki actually sees and is smitten with a statue that resembles the geisha princess before he sees the princess proper and rescues her from drowning, and once he makes his decision to pursue his love, he goes for it whole-heartedly.

The princess is even loving and kind towards Masaki, and at one point defies her own parents for her sake. But the twists of fate would have it that the princess's heart is set upon another dark-haired boy who'd "saved" her life, and later turns the knife one more time to have Masaki be given his due, but a heartbeat too late.

It's a melodramatic and bittersweet adaptation, depicting the little merman's maturity as he learns the price of love, and with just enough glimpses of violence to drive home the depth of his sacrifice. All those good things!

For those of you who don't play the Jurassic World mobile game

So I recently completed a series of quests in the game that included a few cut scenes of Claire and Owen discussing his time in the Navy, so I thought I would share it.

FIRST, a couple disclaimers: 1. I didn’t screenshot every single dialogue window, only the ones that were factually important. 2. Keep in mind the game operates in an AU that’s similar to the film, but has quite a few noticeable plot differences. But I thought this bit of Owen’s backstory was interesting and worth sharing.

[Backstory: Hoskins has been digging into Owen’s past, including his time in the Navy. He discovers something and immediately goes to Claire with the information. (I think he’s trying to get Owen off the Raptor project IBRIS but his motives haven’t been stated yet so I can’t be sure.)]

HOSKINS: Owen’s presence poses a risk to our operations. Did you know, that prior to joining Jurassic World, he spent time in military prison?

HOSKINS: I checked. He didn’t remain in the Navy for very long. At the end of his tour, he was issued a discharge by a general court-martial...

HOSKINS: ...for bad conduct.

[Claire confronts Owen and he promises to tell her everything, but they need to talk in private. She agrees to hear him out.]

OWEN: First, you need to know that my military discharge is false: It never actually happened.

(I’m just going to transcribe the rest of the conversation to keep this post as short as possible.)

OWEN: In the Navy, I was a part of MK 9, a human-animal cell in the Marine Mammal program for naval operations. Real black budget stuff.

CLAIRE: You’re talking about handling dolphins for the army? Yeah, I knew about that.

OWEN: Not just dolphins. We trained whales, sharks, sea lions, anything with a tail and flippers that might give us an edge underwater.

OWEN: During the Iraq War in 2003, we deployed dolphin teams into the Persian Gulf to remove enemy mines that prevented our fleet from entering. 

OWEN: It was supposed to be a textbook mine hunt... 

[...Claire and Owen talk while walking around the paddocks...]

OWEN: MK 9 began marking tethered or buried sea mines on the ocean floor. One of them in the group pinged back a small object. Heading straight for us.

OWEN: We read reports that the enemy was sighted in those waters and had destroyed ally supply ships. There wasn’t a whole lot of time to react.

OWEN: After cooler heads prevailed, it turns out it wasn’t a hostile at all. My captain nearly gave the order to fire by mistake.

[...]

OWEN: Even worse, tax dollars were being spent on MK 9 but all handlers on staff knew the one hard truth that none of us wanted to admit...

OWEN: That mammals, especially those recruited and trained by the U.S. military, don’t always make the best type of soldiers.

[...It’s getting late and they’re both hungry, so Owen asks if she wants to go get something to eat. In a stark contrast to how she treated their blind-date-gone-wrong earlier in the story, she accepts. They go to one of the fancier restaurants on the island, and the conversation continues...]

OWEN: I keep replaying what happened that night in my head, wondering if I swam alongside my dolphin team, would things have turned out differently?

[...Claire makes a comment to offer comfort to Owen...]

OWEN: Ha, lot of good that did me. Our team began hearing rumors about an inquiry into MK 9′s lack of efficiency on and off the field.

OWEN: It was grilling, not even remotely fair. After the investigation, word of the incident trickled back up to the top brass. And by then something had to give.

OWEN: The next day, I received orders directly from the desk of the Chief of Naval Operations to shut down and disband MK 9.

OWEN: National Security Council put pressure after news outlets began running stories about ‘defective dolphins’ jeopardizing the mission.

CLAIRE: That was when you were discharged by a court-martial?

OWEN: Not quite. I...uh, volunteered, in a way.

CLAIRE: I don’t understand. You weren’t in any trouble but you allowed yourself to be discharged anyway?

OWEN: MK 9 was my baby. I wasn’t about to let some desk jockey admiral completely tear down years of hard work. Those dolphins depended on me.

OWEN: But shutting down the team meant they no longer had the rights and protection of the Navy. They’d effectively be ejected from the program.

CLAIRE: So what happened? They released the dolphins back into the ocean?

OWEN: Nope. I raised those guys. There was no way they could survive in the wild, not on their own at least. So I made a deal.

[...Claire and Owen finish dinner and leave the restaurant, sharing a walk outside...]

OWEN: I met with the captain and offered to tell the media that we were actually “ramping down” on mammals in favor of something else.

OWEN: With the new presidential administration being installed, we knew we had one trick left up our sleeve: drones. See, the army likes robots.

[...]

OWEN: Lock stock and barrel. It was perfect. Mr. Masrani paid all the expenses to relocate my dolphins in exchange for my services.

OWEN: I was flown out to Isla Nublar almost the next day. Imagine my surprise when I found out I wouldn’t be workin’ with dolphins no more.

CLAIRE: So you got your wish. In the end, you saved your dolphins.

[...Claire and Owen part ways as it is beginning to storm. She goes on with her work, and when Hoskins confronts her again about Owen, she defends him and his work, refusing to take him off the IBRIS project.]

[Bonus: after the storm passes Barry goes looking for Owen, and when he finds him, discovers Owen soaking wet from the rain and munching happily on a bagel, likely still on a high from his time with Claire.]

So? What do you think? Do you like these insights into Owen’s backstory? Remember these are from an AU so you don’t have to like them or accept them. In the meantime, I would like to start an official petition to call Owen’s dolphin team the “Pod Squad”.

I mean, once Gold Class had their name and look, it was obvious they were winning these titles. Almost seems a bit facetious now to have had that tournament a few weeks back, but I am not a pro wrestling booker. Takumi Hayakawa is still Minorita, and accompanied the unit to the ring. It’s also pretty obvious that KAI will retain at tomorrow’s show, given Big Boss Shimizu now has another direct win before the title match. It’s just pro wrestling rules and logic; AEW gave away a few finishes for tonight’s PPV on Dynamite on Wednesday too.

Takuma Fujiwara showed out on this show, showing heavy young Jun Akiyama vibes in his title challenge against Dragon Dia. He and Ryu Fuda are gonna be good ones, just wait.

Z-Brats were in a good spot on this show. Gurukun Mask and Churaumi Saver (I thought it was Sabre but apparently it is Saver) from Ryukyu Dragon appeared today too. Gurukun Mask & YAMATO fell to Jun Kasai & Takashi Sasaki at the RDPW show in Shinjuku on Friday. However, Kzy & U-T did win the Twin Ryuo Tag Team titles from Churaumi Saver & Minoru Fujita, becoming the 4th champions of those titles. NOAH’s Kendo Kashin was also on that show, beating Hibiscus Mii.

I’ve not had a chance to watch any of this show, so no idea who if anyone challenged KAI to be the next defense. D’Courage did retain their belts, however Yosuke got some measure of revenge over the two members of Z-Brats who usurped Eita’s position in R.E.D., so maybe that will take this Eita/Yosuke thing somewhere. Kota Minoura continues to be the one who wins for Gold Class, and I can’t help thinking there is a storyline thing here somewhere; Minorita was there as well this time too. Ben-K v. Jason Lee ended due to Z-Brats interference, leading into this 3-way match for I guess the rights to Jason Lee’s unit membership? I don’t know, seems a bit goofy.

The next show is on Saturday, a house show from Okayama. Eita has a title match challenge in NOAH next weekend, as does Masaaki Mochizuki, so I wouldn’t expect them on the Sunday 3/13/2022 show at least. The next livestreamed event is on 3/19/2022 from Kyoto KBS Hall, and the next one after that is not until 4/7/2022 from Tokyo Korakuen Hall, the retirement match for K-Ness.

Tokyo Joshi ran their final prelude show on Saturday before Grand Princess ’22 on 3/19/2022 from Tokyo Ryogoku Kokugikan. It was announced that Hidekazu “Kero” Tanaka, the former NJPW ring announcer who was just at the 50th Anniversary Show on Tuesday, will be at that event; apparently he just had a brink-of-death recovery from COVID-19 recently, so glad to hear he is OK from that!

The trip usually takes an hour and a half, if Google Maps is to be believed. 32 fans will be aboard this train as well.

Pro Wrestling ZERO1 ran today in Tokyo Korakuen Hall billed as “Shinjiro Otani Debut 30th Anniversary Year – ZERO1 21st Anniversary Launch.” ZERO1, founded by Shinya Hashimoto & Shinjiro Otani, did run their first show on 3/2/2001 from Tokyo Ryogoku Kokugikan, the main event of which had NOAH’s Mitsuharu Misawa & Jun Akiyama beating Shinya Hashimoto & Yuji Nagata. The debut show was a Who’s Who of Japanese wrestling at the time. In today’s ZERO1, NOAH’s Takashi Sugiura is their World Heavyweight Champion, and remains so, having beaten Takuya Sugawara today. Post-main, none other than Shinjiro Otani challenged Sugiura for that title. There was also a title change, as Junya Matsunaga & Takafumi beat Gajo & Tomohiko Hashimoto for the NWA Intercontinental Tag Team Championship. Masato Tanaka also beat the Big Tank Yoshiki Inamura. If you want to see this one, it was shown on Wrestle Universe, so have at it.

Speaking of the Hashimoto family and title changes, Big Japan also have new tag team champions, as Okami (Daichi Hashimoto & Hideyoshi Kamitani) beat Strong BJ (Daisuke Sekimoto & Yuji OKabayashi) in the main event of their Korakuen Hall show today. That will be on Samurai! TV soon enough. That does actually sound like a good main event. I still think BJW has done wrong by Kamitani (and maybe Hashimoto) over the years, but to their credit, they’ve stuck by BJW regardless.

Osaka Pro held a Pre-Launch Battle card, before their relaunch, earlier today in Osaka, oddly enough. The main event had Black Buffalo, Kazuaki Mihara & Quiet Storm beating Ares, Billy Ken Kid & Zeus. Some of the other Osaka Pro standbys of old including Tsubasa, Ebessan, Kuishinbo Kamen and Tigers Mask were on the show too.

Other promotions that ran this weekend include 2AW, 666, Ice Ribbon, Diana, HEAT UP, Michinoku Pro, PURE-J, Marvelous, ChocoPro, as well as some one-off shows.

14 Brunch of Disgustingness

Chris: Last time on Total Drama Island… A note from a secret admirer got Gwen and Bridgette up in each other’s business. DJ accidentally knocked his boy Trent off the airplane, sending him deep into the Earth’s crust. Leshawna showed everybody how to hang on for dear life on the moose ride. Harold showed himself to be an ace flag-catcher, until he caught sight of Heather’s… unmentionables, causing him to crash his way right off the island, but not without a little canoodling time with the fair Leshawna. And now, let’s see what’s in store for our campers on this week’s episode of Total. Drama. Island!

Iris found it odd that Chef did want her help today for breakfast. Walking and sat on the dock looking at the moon. It was calm a peaceful just the gentle sound of water. "You couldn't sleep either?" Duncan said making the teen jump. He chuckled sitting behind me. His arms wrapped me into a warm embrace. His chin ontop of her head. No words needed to be spoken they just watch the sun rise.

It was something she didn't want to end but nothing lasts forever. The campers made their way to the mess hall. Before Iris could enter Duncan grabbed her arm. "Duncan what is it?" She asked looking up at him. But the carage he gathered soon turned to cold feet making him let go. "Nothing let's see what your dad has up his sleeve today." Damb so close but no big deal. The girl thought stepping inside sitting with her team.

Iris pov

My dad  Was acting weird whenever someone tried to ask about food.  Chef would snicker and laugh along with him. " OK seriously enough, what is wrong with the two of you?" I asked making them look at me. Its no secret I get cranky when I don't get food.

Chris: Congratulations to the remaining ten campers for reaching the halfway mark in the competition! You’ll all be on the jury for the final episode.

Geoff: We got the power! Yeah!

Chris: The two teams will become one next week. But first, all the girls will be moved to the Gopher cabin and all the guys will stay in the Bass cabin. This week’s challenge is as old as history itself. A battle of the sexes [Lindsay blows a raspberry at the guys] After everyone is settled in, I’ll announce the challenge. And then, you’ll have an uh… bite to eat.[He and Chef snicker] Ready for a little good news? This week, no one will be kicked off. [everyone cheers] It’s all for reward and it’s a good one. Okay, time to relocate. Let’s move! [He and Chef snicker]

Heather started kissing up to Bridgette. It was sickening to watch so I got up and left.

(Confessional: Bridgette)

Bridgette: I was a bit worried about being the only new girl on the team. Then I figured it can’t be that bad. I don’t buy that hype about how well guys get along and how catty girls can be.

(Confessional Off)

I was sitting outside when Bridgette walked over. "Hi Bridgette have fun in the lions den." I said before laughing.

Leshawna: Nobody’s leaving until I find out who ate my pudding pockets!

Heather: I ate them. So what?

Leshawna: Whoa! Pump the brakes a minute! You’re “so what”ing me? That’s my food. No one touches my food!

Heather: Whatever, deal with it. It serves you right for leaving your junk everywhere, especially that. That is bugging me.

Leshawna: Yeah, it’d bug me too if I didn’t have anything in the front or in the back to shake.

Heather: Yeah? Well, you’ve got so much junk in your trunk, your jeans should come with a trash compactor!

Leshawna: Ooh! You want a piece of this?

Bridgette: Uh-oh.

Heather: Bridgette! It’s so good to see you! Come in, come in! Welcome to our cabin. We’re like a big family in here.

Gwen: Big and dysfunctional.

Heather: Anything you need, just yell.

Bridgette: Thanks for the awesome welcome, Heather.

Lindsay: Welcome to the club! It’ll be so much fun! As long as you do everything Heather says. Ow!

Heather [after she laughs] : Yeah, we love joking around here at girls cabin. I made sure your bunk was next to mine–

Heather: So we can talk and share and really get to know each other.

Bridgette: Okay, yeah! Hey, thanks everybody, I can’t wait to get to know all of–

Heather: Okay! Plenty of time to chat later! Let’s unpack.

Lindsay: This is great! I bet we’re getting along way better than the guys.

I honestly hope things are going well. This den of vipers is about to explode. If on cue I heard this.

Bridgette: Let’s try to get along, okay? Otherwise, the guys are going to cream us, don’t you get it? Tough room.

Heather: Stop doing that!

Chris: Let’s just tell them… Today’s challenge is… The Brunch of Disgustingness! You’ll be getting a nine-course meal. Each member of each team must finish each dish. You will not know if the next dish is grosser than the last, not as gross, or just as gross. Just that it’ll likely be… gross.

Chef: Tell them what they’ll get if they win, Chris!

Chris: The winning team spends two days at a local five-star resort where they’ll be pampered, eat gourmet nosh, and be given antibiotics against anything they may have caught while participating in this challenge! The losing team will go hungry tonight and spend the next two days here. On Total Drama Island. With Chef.

The first round was bull testicles and the point went to the girls. Oh those boys could handle a little meatball.

Chris: The score now stands at one for the girls and zero for the guys! And now, the next course in… The Brunch of Disgustingness! You guys like pizza?

Owen: I could eat pizza any time with anything on it!

Chris: Anything? How about live grasshopper pizza with tangy jellyfish sauce and live anchovies?

Owen: I could eat pizza any time with anything on it!

Ok even I thought it was gross please do let me get sick.

Leshawna couldn't eat it giving the guys a point making us tied. The girls freaked on her but honestly not a big deal. "Guys its not a big deal. We will win the next round so stop complaining.

Chef: I was excited about the next dish. I made it from scratch.

(Confessional Off)

Chris: All right, who’s ready for the third course? Spaghetti! Well, actually, Earthworms covered in snail slime sauce and hairballs.

I barfed when it was placed infront of me.

Iris- WHO THE FUCK THOUGHT THIS WAS A GOOD IDEA?! THIS SHIT IS FUCKING DISGUSTING!

The guys got another point and now I am getting aggravated.

Chris: All right everybody. Time for course number four. No nine-course meal would be complete without soup. Today’s special is French Bunyon soup with hangnail crackers.

The rounds continue and the barfing too. But we made it to the final round.

"Oh god I think I'm going to be sick." I said trying to hold it down but I dont think I can.

hris: Wow, it’s still tied up. We’re down to the last course in the challenge. It’s delicious dolphin wieners. Hot dogs made of dolphin.

Bridgette [after she gasps] : But dolphins are our friends!

Heather: What are you waiting for? It’s already dead. If you don’t eat it, we don’t win.

Bridgette: Ooh, I can’t! I’m a surfer! I swim with dolphins!

Heather: Eat it!

Bridgette: No! I’m not doing it. You can’t pressure me.

The hell we can't grabbing a hot dog off the plate, and then proceeded to shove it down her throat.

"I'M NOT LOSING THIS BECAUSE YOU CAN'T GROW A PAIR! THE DAMB THING IS DEAD SO SUCK IT UP AND STUFF YOU FUCKING FACE!" They all looked at me Bridgette had tears in her eyes. She coughed it all up.

DJ: I’m with you sister. I’m not eating no dolphin.

(Confessional : Chef)

Chef: I slave over a hot stove cooking dolphin. No appreciation!

(Confessional Off)

Chris: Okay, enough. We’ll solve this by having an eat-off. The one who can drink the most shot glasses of fresh, delicious blended cockroach will be the winner. This unlikely satisfying blend of eight different cockroaches is vitamin rich for your balanced lifestyle. On your mark, get set, go!

Owen and Leshwana drink the cockroaches.

Chris: The guys are the big winners today. And the girls go their separate ways. Two definitive cliques have been cemented. [Heather grunts and the door rattles] For now. What shocking surprises are in store for our campers next week as they head for the big merge? Tune in on Total. Drama. Island!

You mentioned "Pearl in the Rough" as a story where Owen joins the team and brings Hattie along.

Actually, it's kinda part of "Pear in the Rough"!

In chapter 8 (I think lol), Dom explains how they met up with Owen, and then Hattie

Long story short, when Luke had tried to capture Dom and his crew, there was a heavy fire fight. The battle left Luke's ship on fire, and Dom's crew was able to escape

But, they had help in the battle

Owen, a mer shark, had been following their ship because he was enchanted by Roman. Owen had jumped into action and helped tear holes into Luke's ship. But, a flaming piece from the ship hit the water and burned Owen

Before Dom's ship sailed away, they saw the unconscious and hurt mer. They fished him out and want to heal him

They shove Owen into a bathtub and wait for him to wake up

Of course, when Owen wakes up, he. Freaks. Out.

He tips the bathtub over and tries to crawl across the floor, too scared to think of the pain. The crew hears the commotion and race down to make him stop. But the only person allowed near him is Roman

Owen clings to Roman, whimpering as the others help him back into the bathtub and get him fresh water

Soon enough, Owen gets comfortable with everyone else and the crew accepts him. After all, they're a crew of misfits already

When Owen is finally healed, they lower him into the water and he races the ship constantly. But one day he disappears

He comes back a few days later, begging the crew to help find his brother. The crew says yes, because who wouldn't want to meet more mers?

That's when Owen leads them to Hattie, so she can help the search as well

But when they find Hattie's pod, all the dolphin mers swarm around Owen protectively. They thing the crew tortured Owen to lead them to more mers

After a while, Owen convinces Hattie to join to crew to find Deckard

Eventually, they do find Deckard and Luke

Thus combining the two stories!

I might get around to writing it this summer, especially if people want more Rowen!

Spencer on the other was hanging out with his family at beach and that’s how they wanted it. No girlfriends, no boyfriends or friends as they haven’t been together for a few months however as the rest of his family played spike ball; he couldn’t due to an ankle sprain so he was sitting down and listening to an audiobook until his texts started to blow up which caused him to open his phone to see all former ntdp boys talking about someone.

Trevor: No offense man but why you leave this?

He clicked on a video of ex girlfriend, Kai, dancing to a song that he hasn’t heard before but the words of the song stung him more than a puck to his hand because he knew she didn’t have a choice to stay at Boston College and somehow he betrayed the one person who’d understand the pressures of professional athlete’s life because she came from a long line of them.

Jack: maybe you should’ve broke her heart when she was on the mainland

Cole: I heard when she’s done in Hawaii; she’ll audition for the dance team of the Miami heat or cheer for the dolphins but I can’t remember what she told me

Owen: yeah, she was talking with turcs and Shay Donovan as well about that then she added how wished she went to UCLA or Cal for dance instead of Boston college

Ibushi gets the win over Shingo, the delayed match finally happening, although not for the IWGP World title. Ibushi said next time they met, he would take the belt from Shingo. That will likely happen before WK16, unless Ibushi were to become a 3-in-a-row winner. 

Sabre takes his first loss in the tournament, whilst Tanga Loa gets his first in-ring win (his previous 2pts coming from Tetsuya Naito’s withdrawal). Before the match, KENTA challenged O-Khan that the winner had to bow before the other. O-Khan agreed, and looked to bow before KENTA post-match, before popping up and hitting Eliminator on him, so O-Khan retains his heat. This is the second time on this tour that we’ve had two consecutive Schoolboy finishes; someone seems to be a fan of them behind the scenes.

Lawlor retains the Strong Openweight title against the now-signed-to-AEW Lio Rush, and afterwards got a challenge from Ren Narita. Lawlor buried Narita, telling him to get more training from Shibata first, before Narita delivered a very Shibata-like kick in the face to Lawlor. That match happened last weekend during Autumn Attack, so that will be shown on an upcoming episode. Chris Dickinson gets a measure of revenge against Team Filthy.
