RM permanece introspectivo en "Forever Rain".

"Forever Rain" es una canción de un ritmo más lento, una canción que enfatiza una entrega más emocional. Si bien hay una variedad de instrumentos utilizados a lo largo de la canción, los más destacados son el ritmo pesado de la batería y la melodía tranquila del piano. Se siente como el tipo de canción que escucharías mientras contemplas una tormenta de lluvia.

Aparte del ritmo pesado de la batería, la canción no contiene una pista de hip hop habitual que uno podría esperar del líder y rapero principal de BTS. Si alguien pone la voz de Oh Hyuk en la melodía de "Forever Rain" fácilmente podría transformarse en una de las canciones más lentas de Hyukoh.

RM sobresale en escribir letras introspectivas y "Forever Rain" simplemente lo demuestra. También es conocido por ser honesto sobre la lucha contra la depresión y los sentimientos de insuficiencia. La letra refleja estos temas similares a los de algunas canciones e RM, su primer mixtape, como "Awakening" y "Adrift". En el primer verso de "Forever Rain", RM rapea:

"Me gustaría que lloviera todo el día , Porque entonces desearía que alguien más llorara en mi lugar. Me gustaría que lloviera todo el día, Porque entonces la gente no me miraría fijamente."

Aunque simple, las letras están en capas: RM expresa su agotamiento por estar triste y ser tan público, y desea que por una vez pueda descansar y encontrar algún tipo de paz. Él anhela el simple anonimato que viene con poder esconderse en una multitud. Pero como figura pública, su rostro es reconocible, lo desee o no.

Visualmente, el MV es simple. Es monocromático, con solo animación en blanco y negro. El personaje que actúa como el sustituto de RM camina por una pasarela negra, rodeado de personas con sombrillas. A veces, el público obtiene una mirada de las diferentes caras caminando de RM. La mayoría de ellos tienen un aspecto distorsionado o grotesco. Todos los movimientos son lentos, de la misma manera que RM desea que su rap y su vida fueran como en el primer verso. Lo interesante del MV es que RM es la única persona con los pies firmemente en el suelo. Las otras personas que lo rodean flotan mientras se cubren la cara, posiblemente para enfatizar la desconexión que siente RM con el mundo.

Además, un pájaro aparece varias veces para volar y luego se desintegra cuando RM rapea, "Rap lento, canción lenta, lluvia lento". Las aves generalmente simbolizan la libertad y, en menor medida, escapar. Al hacer que un pájaro se materialice de una gota de lluvia y luego se desintegre en gotas de lluvia, es posible que RM sienta que su libertad está ligada a tener que esconderse en la tristeza.

La estética minimalista se adapta tanto a la canción como al ambiente general del mixtape. El estilo de animación utilizado refleja la letra pero también permite que la canción sea la verdadera estrella. La forma en que las líneas cambian y se agitan, lo que se suma a las letras inciertas y ansiosas de RM. El estilo artístico general crea textura e interés visual en lo que fácilmente podría convertirse en un video aburrido.

Si bien la canción en sí no es una gran desviación a los estilos que RM y BTS han usado antes, "Forever Rain" nos da otra mirada dentro de la mente de RM. Las imágenes monocromáticas y simples apoyan las letras perspicaces. A través de su música, RM hace un esfuerzo serio y continuo para darle sentido a su lugar en el mundo. Todos desean poder ser vistos y no vistos; "Forever Rain" habla de ese deseo universal mientras sigue siendo lo suficientemente personal para RM.
