Even though Demi Moore did not take home the gold statue, the performance she gave in The Substance will live on forever. It’s almost poetic how of course she would lose the award to the younger “prettier” actress, which was the whole point of her film. Nonetheless to see Demi’s epic comeback as someone who has watched Ghost, G.I Jane, Charlie’s Angels 2 a million times, I am happy she is getting her moment in the sun again! To me personally, the films that star older, complicated, three dimensional woman are always so compelling and groundbreaking. Hopefully we get more and more! Cheers to the Legendary DEMI MOORE, in my home she won!

I said this on Twitter and I will say it again here: it's not because Mickey Madison wasn't good in her acting but the truth is that Fernanda was way better than anyone there.

I hate to say this because Brazilians are known for being partial to our own but having watched all the films in main categories, I can't say any of them have the same quality or the sensibility of I'm Still Here (not saying they're not good, just that they're not comparable), both in or out of screen.

I know that may be because I'm way more attuned to the subtleties of the film, of Fernanda's and Selton's acting, of Walter's directing, of everything surrounding the film as a whole, but it's still true.

Anyway, I wasn't expecting an American award to recognize it but it's still blatant to me and it's thoroughly frustrating.
