thinking about... how oscar piastri wears almost only hoodies, sports jerseys t shirts, and polos to the track. and that he likes a good yachting investment banker bro sweater in his off time but will not be caught dead wearing one to the track. his hesitation whenever asked about his favourite movies or tv shows or music, and giving the blandest answers possible to not open any further routes of inquiry into his personal life or beliefs. just. quite fascinated by his. self-awareness. choices. the fact that he self-described as calculated since as far back as f2. his whole thing.

the most crucial thing to understand about landoscar is that oscar's personality is simply not capable of gay for pay behavior like he's never once in his life thought to himself hmm if i look like i'm half in love with lando all the time that'll really boost my online image and make mclaren appear more palatable to the naysayers like he probably moved to monaco because mark and his accountant told him to and he lets his social media manager run all his "thirst trap" posts for him and painfully grits his teeth through 90% of his media responsibilities the man doesn't possess that level of foresight. i think he just likes the guy

Can the hate towards Lando stop? Honestly, it's ridiculous at this point. Like I don't get it, don't you guys have a life or something to do in general? I am involved in social media but I don't dedicate my time to hate on a driver.

Lando, especially Lando, has been open about mental health and I think that we all know how much he suffers from it and regardless of this he still gets hate.

First of all, the "famous" line on Max's luck was taken out of context and I blame this on both journalism and fans who like to take everything out of context for the sake of... drama? I don't know what for but I surely don't get the reason.

Second of all, going to his Instagram profile and literal ruin his last post with a high percentage of hate comments is pathetic from you because it shows your immaturity, but the worst part is how aware he is of it- like he reads them. And it gets even worse when he is being sent de@th threats. People who are hating on him openly need psychological attention rn.

He may not be your type of driver, you may not even like him, I also don't like certain famous people or other F1 drivers but I simply ignore them (try it. it's much healthier). If you don't like Norris then ignore him, don't go to his socials, don't send hate because what's the point? showing how awful of a person are you?

And lastly, the worst part is that probably the people who are hating on him are probably the same people who publish and speak up about mental health's importance until it is Lando Norris I guess. Also, don't get me wrong, I want and I think that Max will win his fourth, but Lando was not fighting for the wdc since the beginning either, so...

Enjoy the sport, ignore who you don't like and don't be a poisonous person.

Summary: Oscar has been away for a triple header, not being able to be there for you.What happens once he is finally back home?

You held your hands under the streaming water for the god knows what time this was. You turned off the water and sighed. You knew Oscar would be home soon.

Yet, you couldn’t magically change anything. When he was there, it had been less. He could silence your mind, at least for a bit.

You walked into the living room and sat down, looking around. Your hands rested on the sofa which you grimaced at.

You made your way into the kitchen, getting something to drink. You held the glass under the stream and set it aside.

Your hands now in the place of the glass, again. Tears blurred your vision and you squeezed them shut, not wanting to look at your hands. To ashamed to admit what you’ve been doing to yourself.

You jumped a bit when soft hands traveled down your arms and the water was turned off. You felt Oscar‘s breath at your neck. When did he come in?

He turned you around, eyes still squeezed shut. You felt a soft towel dab at your hands, gently drying them. Oscar put the towel down and kissed your hands.

You opened your eyes and looked at the australian. His eyes met yours. You had expected him to be disappointed, mad or anything except for the way he was looking at you now.

His eyes gentle but full of worry. He slowly let your hands fall to your sides and pulled you closer.

“Sweetheart” His voice was barely a whisper. His hands found their place on your cheeks, wiping your tears “God your bleeding, and..oh honey”

“It’s okay. Your okay” His arms pulled you into a firm hug, not letting you go. Once your head met his chest, you relaxed a bit.

“I’m sorry for leaving you alone here, baby” He whispered “Not your fault” He held your face in his hands “Should’ve still been there for you.” Oscar pecked your nose.

“It’s okay” He shook his head “It’s not. You’re hurting yourself, my love. I hate seeing you hurt” Your eyes wandered down.

“I-maybe” He gulped “Maybe we should..” Your eyes snapped up. His eyes now glassy. Was he about to break up with you?

“Set an end to this?” You opened your mouth to say something but nothing came out. You just stared at him.

“It can’t go on like this, you know it” You nodded “I’ll go pack my things” You pushed yourself away from him “What? Why?” He grabbed your arm “You said you wanted to end this”

“No, oh baby. I didn’t mean us. We’re for forever. You’re stuck with me for life,baby. I meant..” He looked down at your hands.

“Oh..” Oscars face softened “It will be okay. I was talking about considering Therapy. Before you say anything, I’d come with you”

“You’d do that?”

“I’d bring you the moon if you’d ask me to” He chuckled which you laughed at. He smiled.

“Please consider it, okay?” You nodded “Alright. Let’s go and cuddle. I wanna hold you” You smiled and agreed.

the thing that pisses me off the most is that lando is always the first to say how amazing the team is. when they do well, when they win, it's a win for the team. when they make a mistake, when they lose, it's his mistake, nothing to do with the team. doesn't matter if it's a messed up pitstop or a mistake on track, it's always his mistake.

'you need the team' a team that's happy to win with him, but won't help him win.

'you need oscar' well oscar's made it obvious that he doesn't want to help lando get the championship, is even risking the team championship for his own agenda.

which he ultimately ended up losing out on. oscar is ahead of carlos in the championship, he's catching charles, but by what he chose to do at the beginning, it ended with charles scoring more points than him, and is risking lando's championship. it's reckless and stupid, and mclaren should be doing more to help the better driver

you once said that charles uses fans parasocial relationships with him in a much more careful (not verbatim but I think you said something similar) manner as compared to the whole nicole piastri podcast thing, could you elaborate? I just thought it was interesting

obv most teams go for the parasocial angle now but what are the different ways they go about it do you think, and would you say some are more, or less good at it, or into it at all?

Ok I think I remember the post you were talking about! I thini I joked in tags like "Oscar should take lessons from Charles on how to involve his family in his personal image for parasocial purposes without going overboard" and I was mostly kidding except. not really.

To me. Like I just said, I think Charles is really good at cultivating a connection with his fans that feels very personal, while still keeping a big part of his private life under wraps. He folds bits and pieces of his personality and genuine interests into his #brand, and his communication with his fans feels very earnest as a result, but it's still very much a brand. Rissa was joking the other day that "Leclercs have managed to literally corporatize their brotherhood" and I laughed for five minutes but like, it's true. We know the names of Charles's entire friend group but we have no idea what his personality is like when the cameras are turned off. I have seen his carefully selected family holiday dump and have no inkling about how he and his girlfriend spend their days. I just think it's a very smart way to establish a fanbase in a way that 1) makes your fans feel close to you and motivates them to keep being your fans (worked on me!) 2) holds back core parts of your life that you don't want to share and 3) is true to reality so you don't have to keep up a media façade all the time and it "looks real." Again!! I think it's pretty impressive. He's a guy who enjoys being famous but on his own terms. Hashtag good for him!

The Nicole comment iirc is like... I don't actually follow Oscar closely enough to know what the level of engagement with his family is among his fans, but I AM aware of Nicole publicly engaging with her son's fan accounts just because it's very hard not to. I know general reception so far is positive, but from what I see... I get the vibe she's putting herself out there in a way that could backfire. Beyond whether you personally vibe with the kind of persona she's putting out, I just don't think it's great in the long term for the family of a driver to be THAT accessible to the public. Like, sports fans aren't nice! I hope she keeps having fun making #boymom jokes on twitter and doesn't have to be confronted with people in the replies wishing crashes on her son to the point where it becomes draining. I just think there are better, smoother ways to involve your family in your brand than what the Piastris are currently doing. So this is what made me go "You should ask Charles for tips". But it was mostly a joke, like, I don't think it's something Oscar NEEDS to do. I just think Charles is much better

Anyway! I'm not a social media image PR person so these are just my own gut feelings. I also don't think I know enough about how different teams go about social media engagement, except that I feel vaguely that they all could do better tbh. From glimpses I've seen around I think Mclaren are the ones doing The Most with the social media engagement angle and it feels very #zillennial. But in general, I think social media engagement is a good thing for teams to cultivate, but they don't care nearly as much as some people seem to believe. Teams' PR care way more about sponsors and F1 press than they do about clicks on their bromance videos and podium edits. It's nice to have but I doubt it's a priority.

(MY dream team social media content would be an equal mix of the Ferrari queerbait videos based on bad acting and chemistry and the Merc videos showcasing the team + factory personnel, but I fear nobody will give me exactly what I want :/)
