Lorch banking on CAF experience

Lorch banking on CAF experience
Bafana Bafana midfielder Thembinkosi Lorch says the team is ready to make the nation proud as they look towards toppling Libya in their final 2019 AFCON qualifier this weekend.
Lorch is currently on national duty in Tunis, the capital of Tunisia, where Bafana are camping ahead of Sunday’s crunch clash against The Mediterranean Knights (kick-off at 19h00 SA time).
They need just a point from the tie scheduled for Sfax as they look to join Nigeria from their qualifying Group E, at the continental finals to be hosted in Egypt in June.
Lorch, who was instrumental in his club side Orlando Pirates’ exploits in the CAF Champions League, believes he is now well equipped to help the national team in their own continental quest.
“We have a tough task ahead of us this coming weekend, but the camp has started really well and we are all positive that we can come out of here with the result that will make Mzansi proud as a football nation,” Lorch told SAFA.
“I have had a good run of late at club level, and have gained a lot of international experience through the CAF Champions League and I now know the best and worst circumstances on the continent.
“It is also very inspiring that the current Bafana Bafana squad has the experience needed to conquer this challenge.”

As Orlando Pirates inspect the wreckage of their Caf Champions League crash, it will become abundantly clear to them that the lack of experience has been their down fall.
But they can pick some positives as they shift focus back to the Absa Premiership, which is now their only saving grace in a season they have over-promised, yet so far under-delivered.
