THE KING’S MAN HEADCANON
Polly and Oxford never married, but they got together six months after the foundation of the Kingsman; the relationship lasted for the rest of their lives.
They had no children, but they cared for a number of boys and girls who had lost their parents during the war, or whose families were unable to support them; the oldest of those children, Oxford formally adopted as his heir, bequeathing him his title and estate.
His name? Harry Hart (senior).

Thinking about Conrad Oxford and how so much of the tragedy of his death is about being too late.
Archie comes to inform Orlando about Conrad’s death. It is a story in the past tense. There is no action left but to sit and listen to his son’s already decided fate. Any apology is too late. Any rescue mission to save him is too late. Conrad is dead and his father will always be too late to save him.
Conrad learns too late that his father was right about war. He is scared and in danger and all he wants is to make up with his father. He never gets that chance. War takes the rest of his life from him. Anything else that was supposed come after is too late to mean anything to a dead boy who just wanted to make his father proud. His father’s pride comes too late for him to receive it. What does a medal mean to a corpse?

Duke of Oxford Headcanons (AU)
Tumblr media
Orlando was ver adventurous and loved to be active growing up.
he loved books about sailors an fisherman and just adventurous novels.
he took fencing and became quite good and was good friend with a. woman named Rachel Pollard (OC)whose brother also took fencing bu not a good as a partner in fencing so he taught his sister. she caught on fast and they often fenced together growing up, he won always being the better finer but she out up a good fight.
Rachel and he grew up together and one summer when they turned 15, suddenly hi by their hormones spend the whole summer "together" mostly kissing but after that summer, they summer hormones subsided and guilt on Orlando part, they split and decided to be just friends.
Orlando during the summers would often go out and travel around the world and after he graduated college went on a year long excursion across the globe just adventuring and learning to climb mountain sides and canoeing and being in the Sahara desert ect.
After he came back , he met his wife Emily, a shop girl in a upper high end stores in London, it was love at first sight.
He hardly ever came into the city if he could help it but a fetid invited him into the city and he did and came back the following day to fin Emily again. they met and hit it iff
He was so in love he asked for her hand within the year and scared and surprised her father let alone his, they both made them wait a year until they get married.
He was so excited he broke ever courting property rule one night and asked her to see him in the middle of the night, nothing scandalous but just to see him, they stayed out until dawn where Emily showed him her favorite spot in all of London, onto of the buildings where the sun hit the horizon.
Orlando met Polly during this time and Emily convinced him to meet hire her as a nanny when they and children, keeping her past a secret but she asked him to trust her and after meeting polly alone he figured she was a good person and allowed her to work with them at their home. (yes I sole this form Mary Poppins leave me alone )
Orlando after Emily died and he hurt his leg, he got depressed and moody not just for his wife but for his injury left him disabled and he couldn't enjoy the world like he wanted. polly suggested sitting at home wouldn't help but suggested he take a train ride and get outside. He took a scenic train route and began writing. similar to the stores he grew up with (I know the director said he based him off T.S. Elliot and that he was a writer so I decided to add that to Orlando ) he even based some characters from people he knew in real life. like polly and shoal and a few others. though when polly inquired about it one day he coyly brushed off her suspicions.
it became a sort of hobby for him to go out and travel and enjoy the scenery and just write and even thigh he couldn't participate he lived through his writings and it helped him push through it.
it was never meant to be published but he was encouraged to do so but out it under a pseudonym : R.R. Barnes and it turned to be a hit.
He made poly and Shola never to tell anyone in the house because it got so popular amongst the staff as well, he didn't want to be mobbed at home.

Necessarily Worried (An Orlando Oxford Imagine)
Summary: Reader and Conrad were close before he died, so they are also close to Orlando. Reader tries to take care of Orlando after Conrad’s death and even tries to go on the mission to take down the Shepherd.
Request: Orlando Oxford if you can. Maybe some angsty stuff, I like angst. Could be about the reader getting hurt and he is worried he'll lose them too. You can decide if you want a good or bad ending. The reader can be whatever gender you prefer to write with
Requested by @lievlogan
Pairing: Orlando Oxford and (gender neutral/no physical descriptors given) Reader (non-romantic; Orlando views her as more of a daughter)
Word Count: 1125
A/N: I’m kind of back. My apologies for taking so long to write this. I have this and other requests I’m currently working on, along with new chapters for some of my series’s. Work plus grad school has really wiped me out, so I haven’t had a lot of time or energy to spend writing. But I want to get back into it. Let me know what you think! Thanks for reading!
Tumblr media
The door closes with a quiet thud behind them. (Y/n) watches as Orlando meanders down the hallway, appearing to be going through the motions rather than consciously choosing what to do. They stand there in the foyer for a few seconds before following him into the house.
Orlando disappears into his own bedroom, not even noticing or even acknowledging that (Y/n) was behind him.
(Y/n) makes their way down the hall and toward their own room. Once the door is shut behind them, they allow themself to finally let go. The tension leaves their body as they lean back on the door. All the tears they had been holding in for Orlando’s sake at the funeral run down their cheeks.
A knock on the door startles (Y/n), making them step away from the door and face it.
“(Y/n),” Polly’s voice comes through the door, “tea is almost ready in the parlor.”
(Y/n) wipes one cheek with the end of their sleeve, taking in a breath to try to conceal the fact they had been crying. “Thank you, Polly.” They curse silently because of how their voice wavers. “I’ll be out shortly.”
(Y/n) listens carefully as Polly’s footsteps disappear down the hall. Only when they can no longer hear her footsteps do they release a long sigh and wipe the other cheek’s tears away.
After changing out of the clothes they wore to the funeral, (Y/n) leaves their room and heads straight for the parlor. Orlando is already there, seated in his typical chair with a seemingly untouched cup of tea on the table beside him. (Y/n) takes a seat in their usual chair. Their gaze drifts to where Conrad would sit.
If he were here.
These thoughts don’t linger because Shola is immediately at their side with a cup of tea in hand. Which (Y/n) takes and allows their gaze to drift back to Orlando. They take a sip of their tea, considering what to say.
. . . . .
(Y/n) enters the dining room with a tray in both hands. On the tray is breakfast: cherry scones, over easy eggs, and sausage. Orlando sits at the head of the table, staring blankly at the newspaper in his hands. (Y/n) goes around the table and sets one plate in front of him. The other plate is set where they typically sit, and the plate of scones is set between both of their seats.
(Y/n) sets the tray at the other end of the table to take breakfast dishes back to the kitchen after the meal is finished. They take a seat and settle in, wiping the sweat from their forehead. At the same time, Orlando turns to the next page in his newspaper, not even taking a bite of breakfast.
“Anything of note?” (Y/n) questions, looking to him.
Orlando glances over at them, staring for a few seconds before shaking his head. He then sets the paper to the side, carelessly folded in half. It’s only then that he begins eating.
There’s no conversation between the two of them. Only silence fills the room.
. . . . .
Over the next few weeks, (Y/n) does the little things around the house. Making sure Orlando has his paper in the morning. Preparing breakfasts they know he enjoys. Cleaning up when he leaves a room without taking care of things.
He’s fairly quiet and antisocial over the several weeks following the funeral.
(Y/n) does their best to help him grieve, but things stay relatively quiet until it becomes clear that the Shepherd must be dealt with.
“Orlando,” (Y/n) states firmly, “I want to go with you.”
“No,” he answers with some finality, waving his hand dismissively. He doesn’t even look in their direction as he prepares.
“Why not? I could be useful!”
“No!” He slams his fist on the desk in front of him. He stares at (Y/n) for a moment before his features soften, and he hangs his head. “I can’t lose you, too, (Y/n)…”
“I’ll stay out of the way, away from the main action.”
“The answer is still no.”
“But-”
He looks (Y/n) in the eye. “End of story, (Y/n).”
. . . . .
Somehow, Polly convinced Orlando to allow (Y/n) to come, given that they stay with her.
And that’s exactly how it turned out.
(Y/n) cowers in the shack with Polly, though they’re unwilling to admit (perhaps even to themself) that they’re terrified. The sound of rapid gunshots in the direction of the shack both are in causes (Y/n)’s heart to race uncomfortably within their chest.
A stray one enters the shack, and (Y/n) isn’t hidden properly and, shortly after, feels sharp pain in their shoulder. They shift to be closer to Polly, to be hidden better from the gunfire.
Time passes slowly as they wait for Orlando to meet up with the rest of the group. As the four of them return to the Oxford estate, (Y/n) tries to remain still and out of the way, though pain radiates through their shoulder. They’re able to successfully mask their pain since everyone’s attention is primarily focused on Orlando. No one really pays much attention to the fact that (Y/n) remains off to the side, not hovering over Orlando.
No one notices.
Until they return to the Oxford estate.
“Let me take your coat,” Polly insists, her hands on the collar of their coat.
“No, I’m alright,” (Y/n) tries to insist, attempting to evade her attempt at taking the coat off their shoulders.
Polly’s grip is firm and doesn’t allow (Y/n) to evade. However, Polly’s able to pull the coat from their body, exposing the bloodied sleeve of their shirt.
“(Y/n),” Polly breathes, her eyes wide.
(Y/n) is quickly moved into the study by Shola, with Orlando trailing just behind, as Polly heats up water and gathers the necessary supplies to clean the wound. They’re quickly seated, and Shola applies pressure to the bleeding. Orlando paces as he waits.
Polly hurries into the room, her arms full of supplies. Immediately, she begins tending to the wound on (Y/n)’s shoulder.
“How did this happen?” Orlando questions.
“I don’t know,” (Y/n) replies tensely, their fists clenching as Polly cleans the wound.
“What happened, Polly?”
“I’m not sure, sir,” she replies.
“How does no one-!” Orlando shouts.
“Calm down,” (Y/n) interrupts, pleading. “I’ll be fine.”
“I knew this would happen!”
“I stayed low and out of the way. There was nothing Polly could’ve done differently.”
Orlando sighs, collapsing into the chair across the room.
“(Y/n) will be just fine, sir,” Polly states optimistically as she begins stitching up the wound.

Arthurian non fiction recommendation list
I don't talk much about non fiction arthuriana because I usually don't read much of it but I have an immense love for some specific arthurian non fiction books.
I am not really interested in historical Arthur, but I love to see the evolution and addition of arthurian elements in literautre through time and space. For this reason, my absolute favorite is the series "The Arthur of the..."
Here are some:
Arthur of the Welsh (the one I always take with me! It has information of the triads, early Welsh texts and poems, Culhwch and Olwen and the Mabinogion arthurian texts)
Arthur of the French (in particular has a section about Arthur in modern French movies and fiction!)
Arthur of the Italians (this I did not check as I read the texts in Italian, but I know it has information on the Rustichello da Pisa text, the Tavola Ritonda and i Cantari, the ones with Gaia as a character)
Arthur of the Low Countries (one of my favorite because it has full summaries of some Dutch texts that are impossible to find in English like Walewein, Moriaen, Walewein ende Keye, Roel Zemel)
Arthur of the North (has some summaries of some really hard to find stuff arthurian like Ívens saga, Erex saga, Parcevals saga, various Nordic ballads, Hærra Ivan Leons riddare)
Arthur of the Germans (another good one! It has info on a bunch of German texts that are hard to find like Wigamur, various fragments, Tristan traditions)
Arthur of Medieval Latin literature (for the older stuff, like Geoffrey of Monmouth, Nennius and Life of Saints)
Arthur of the English (if you are really into Malory)
Arthur of the Iberians (I have not fully delved into this, but the chapters seem to be about the reception of arthurian matter in Spain and Portugal)
Basically, different authors tackle the arthurian traditions (more or less obscure) from different areas and time periods.
In general, if you like Welsh arthuriana anything written by Rachel Bromwich will be your friend, especially "Trioedd Ynys Prydein: The Triads of the Island of Britain".
For general information:
The Arthurian Name Dictionary (Bruce) - this used to be online, not anymore, but you can still access it through the archive here
The Arthurian companion (Phyllis Ann Karr)
The Oxford Guide to Arthurian Literature and Legend (Alan Lupack)
The Arthurian Encyclopedia (Lacy)
The Illustrated Encyclopaedia of Arthurian Legends (Coghlan)
If you are looking for more translated texts you can check here for free downloads, but if you would like books, here are some:
The Romance of Arthur: An Anthology of Medieval Texts in Translation (Wilhelm)
This book contains translations of:
Culhwch and Olwen Roman de Brut Brut Some Chretien de Troyes Some Parzival excerpts The saga of the mantle Beroul's Romance of Tristan Thomas of Britain's Romance of Tristan Lanval The Honeysuckle Cantare on the Death of Tristan Suite du Merlin Prose Merlin Sir Gawain and the Green Knight The Wedding of Sir Gawain and Dame Ragnelle De ortu Waluuanii nepotis Arthuri
The Book of Arthur: Lost Tales From the Round Table (Matthews John)
This book contains translations of:
(Celtic Tales) The Life of Merlin The Madness of Tristan The Adventures of the Eagle Boy The Adventures of Melora and Orlando The Story of the Crop-eared dog Visit of the Grey Ham The Story of Lanval

Emily Oxford “The King’s Man” Headcanon (AU)
Tumblr media
Emily was born in London to a barber and a Draper assistant , made housewife after marriage.
Emily learned everything about clothes and sewing from her mother when she would visits her old job often and even when she would mend her clothes and even take up small projects of making clothes when she could. Her mother made all of her clothes from scraps and gotten them tailored for free from her old employer so they always looked impeccable.
Emily loved traveling around London, she loved the city, the hustle the noise the excitement.
Emily worked at her fathers shop to sweep and clean up a bit but they always needed money , they were happy but things did get hard time to time. So she applied as a counter girl at a department store in the upper class areas of London.
Emily eventually moved out at 17 years old to work at a fine fashion department and after much convincing and she was gorgeous enough to be appealing to the male customers as well.
she got on well enough with he girls well enough except a few, new completion never bode well but she was excited. expoing another part of London sh never has before only briefly.
she often dodged a few men googling her and her co workers , and one man mr Bellamy an older gentleman who frequently parades the are, who seemed to be on the sights for a new girl , she assumed the last one had run off. she often does these men and gotten so good at it , its impressive.
She met 14 year old Polly Wilkins, just window shopping and immediately struck up a kinship with eachother. Polly eventually told her where she worked and she was concerned and shocked but reassured her that she was okay and can handle herself. she even made sure polly made it "home" okay.
Orlando spotted her one day after coming back from his adventuring around the globe for a year, a friend brought him along in the city and he saw her face in the street as he was passing through in the carriage and immediately was struck by her face.
Her face was in his head for the next month and went back into the city and found her crouched behind a stand with flowers on it dodging Mr Bellamy of all people. After he had passed, they met eyes and immediately was taken with eachother.
They began seeing each other on her breaks and her day off. This must have deterred some suitors because a few never were seen, but she was happy.
After 3 months of official courting,, he proposed but due to the suddenness of it all both Orlando father and her father agreed to extend their engagement by at least a year.
Some girls got jealous and called her a “counter jumper” but she couldn’t care less
Orlando, advised by his father, did let her know what she would be getting into as a Duchess. She thought about it carefully and still accepted.
He met her friends and had a fun time In a pub where they threw them an engagement party.
they had a beautiful wedding in the country at his a cute local small church he grew up going to in the country. He wore a beige and green suit and she wore a white gown with the same light green accents as him.
