Honestly, this mix is so much better than the one that was inevitably released. It sounds much more like Ghost. The bass line is immediately noticeable, whereas I struggle to hear it in the mix on the album. Other guitars add a more well-rounded sound, too. I sometimes skip this song on the album because the organs sound kind of cheesy, but this mix does a good job of balancing everything and it mostly removes that "carnival spooky clown" feeling.

I wonder if they'll eventually re-release a new mix of the album that is Tobias approved?

You might have noticed that Tobias has mentioned several times (and in the latest interview too) that he’s not satisfied with Infestissumam, namely, the mixing and mastering job.

There were two mixes of Infestissumam - one done by the band themselves, which was rejected by the label, and one done without the band’s involvement which ended up on the official release. All that we regular folk have of that first mix is the Secular Haze single.

Give it a listen right after listening to the album version, preferably with headphones. The original mix is much more fuller and nuanced, I think. The guitars, backing vocals and synths are way more pronounced, whereas on the album they almost disappear and are mashed together to the point where all of it sounds sort of… flat. I imagine the same thing happened to the rest of the songs so, in a way, I totally understand why Tobias doesn’t like the sound of that album much. I’d love to hear a remaster done by him at some point :)
