What's your interpertation of masks role in ancient culture? are masks typically worn all day and only taken off around family members and/or romantic partners? If so the scene where caper takes off sparrows mask hits different, would that be the first time caper saw her face or would he have seen it prior?

i Did draw that scene between them with that kinda thing in mind, but i realized that it wouldn't really track that much with the canon lore like at all,,, it isn't the first time Euros has seen her face, they've known each other for four years before all of this and became close friends, so he was bound to see her at some point

but i imagine touching n taking off other person's mask is usually either frowned upon or a sign of trust, considering that being without mask would usually spell death. of course, Euros keeps the air in his chamber balanced for her, but still

rebreather masks usually don't have much symbolism drawn to them except that taking off thing, but the ceremonial ones are a lil more funky

though they were originally introduced for religious purposes, either for, yes, ceremonies or for the signifying of one renouncing their individuality, the fact that they all became so extravagant makes me think that they evolved very far from this original idea in All aspects

so the ceremonial masks are almost constantly worn, not out of any religious subject, but out of sheer pride. they became a way for the higher circles to flex their wealth, basically

the higher circles in the Desaevio school Sparrows attended saw her as lesser not only because she was clearly from lower circles judging by the body, but also cuz of her lack of a golden bone mask. there wasn't anything grand on her place, just a rebreather mask she tinkered away a little to make it glow. her sparrow mask comes from one of her little brothers and is wooden, but after what she went thru in the school, now meant to go live on top of another iterator, she clung to that thing a lot n rarely took it down out of fear of being excluded like that again

so even though there aren't any specific social rules considering taking off the masks around people, it still meant a lot when she did it in front of Euros for the first time cuz it meant she now trusted him not to cast her out as his friend for being different a bit too much

it was my headcanon for a bit of time that pash was actually wakes daughter. wake had her young and didnt want to be a mom but didnt have access to any sort of family planning options so she gave pash up to her sister and they kept it a secret from everyone, including pash. theres at least a ten year gap between pash and gideon which is wide but not impossible. mainly this headcanon came to me because i thought sure wake would do anything for the cause so i understand why she chose to carry the sample herself, but maybe thats an easier choice to make if youve already gone through a pregnancy once before. idk just find it an interesting concept!

it is interesting i can see where youre coming from! my thoughts on pash and wake started from joking about wakes clear bias on pash vs gideon "bomb" nav and its just. look its so much funnier if she clearly loves pash more. walk with me and imagine wake living in a trailer with pash stopping by often and one day gideon turns up and wakes like eugh. You. you can sleep on the couch dont touch anything im going shooting with pash
