[source] Note, this source link goes to a screen capture. The original tweet is no longer online due to account suspension. The OP has a new twitter: @thegates0fmel
Original tweet:
"Some women use birth control for…" I use it for sex. A human activity. Idgaf if you don't think I should be having sex. I use it because I want sex and don't want kids. Die mad about it.
Chinese translation:
“有些女人吃避孕药用以…” 我吃它来性交。这是一个常人做的活动。我一点不在乎你是否觉得我应该性交。我吃避孕药是因为我想性交而不想孩子。你们含怒到坟墓,好吗?
.
I realized these tweet translations would probably be more interesting to people if I explained my translation process, so here's the literal English translation of my Chinese translation:
Some women take (lit. eat) birth control medicine in order to..." I take it to have sex. This is an activity regular people do. I don't care a bit whether you think I should have sex. I take birth control medicine because I want sex and don't want kids. Carry your anger to the grave, why don't you?
I spent most of my time thinking about how to translate the final line: "Die mad about it." That is, of course, the most memorable part of the tweet.
At first I thought to go with a simple 要气死 / "Die mad (imperative)", or a more flippant 气死吧 / "Die mad (suggestion)" but Chinese speakers use 死 for emphasis so casually that it kind of loses its meaning.
I wanted a translation with a bit more gravitas.
I decided to go with the more formal, "Carry your anger to the grave." Of course there are several words that mean "carry/hold on to" and several words that mean "anger/rage" and several words that mean "grave/coffin." I wasn't sure what vocabulary was best.
Then I had a lightbulb.
I could find a bible quote that talks about "carrying anger."
A bible quote would have the necessary gravitas, and more importantly, it's really easy to find good, professional translations of individual lines from the Christian bible online, in pretty much any language. Every sentence has its own number designation. Not a lot of texts make it that easy to find line-by-line translations, besides Shakespeare's plays/sonnets, maybe.
I'm not Christian myself, but the Christian bible has its uses when it comes to language study.
So I looked up "carry anger bible quote" which pointed me to Ephesians 4:26:
In English (New International Version):
In your anger do not sin; Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry
In Mandarin ( Chinese Union Version):
生氣卻不要犯罪;不可含怒到日落
含怒
含 hán - to keep, to contain, to hold in the mouth (to nurse on)
怒 nù - anger, fury, rage
.
I went with the translation 坟墓 fénmù for "grave" because I liked that it kinda rhymed with 含怒 hánnù.
.
At this point I had 你们含怒到坟墓, which is more of a declarative statement. I wanted to clearly indicate that this was either an imperative or a suggestion, but it didn't seem quite right to use 要 or 吧. The word 要 felt like it went a step too far, like saying "kill yourself." Given the formality of the rest of the sentence, 吧 felt grammatically incorrect.
I decided to go with the slightly more formal suggestion tag 好吗?which is like saying, "Sound good to you?" I think it gives the sentence a more sarcastic edge.
.
Anyway, I hope this translation makes sense and doesn't sound too weird.
Please feel free to suggest tweets for translation or correct my grammar in the notes!

hi! i’m not sure if you’ve answered this before but what books or shows would you recommend in order to learn catalan ?
Hi!
It depends on what your level is. Since you're writing to me in English, I assume you're at a beginner level, but I understand you're asking about novels and TV shows made for people who already speak some Catalan so you can practise, right? Not grammar books to learn Catalan.
(If you're asking about language learning books, I have posted links to grammar books and online courses to learn Catalan here.)
For a very beginners level I'd recommend to watch/read children's media, because it will have easier vocabulary and the storylines will be easier to follow.
Catalan children's TV shows:
Les tres bessones: cartoon about three twin sisters who misbehave, and when they do a witch punishes them by sending them to a different fairytale or story. Every episode is a different tale, so they meet people from literature, history, legends, etc.
Rovelló: cartoon about the life and adventures of a dog who lives in a masia (Catalan farmhouse). Based on a famous children's book.
Una mà de contes: stories explained for younger children with support of crafts and manual art.
Teo: a cartoon for little children about a kid learning to do different things. Obviously very simple and for little kids, but should have easy language. Also based on famous children's books.
In these links, you can activate subtitles in Catalan. The subtitles are not available in any other language, so if you need subtitles in English or another language I don't know where to find them, sorry.
You can also watch dubbed media. We have many animes dubbed to Catalan for the children's TV channel. For example, InuYasha, Dr. Slump, Dragon Ball, Detective Conan, Doraemon, Hattori the Ninja, Porco Rosso, Ranma 1/2, Evangelion, Lady Oscar, Sailor Moon, Sakura Card Hunter, The Magical Doremi, Utena, Shin Chan, Cowboy Bebop, Slam Dunk, One Piece, Rantaro, Bleach, Death Note, and many more. Anime films like My Neighbor Totoro, Grave of the Butterflies, Nausicaä, Kiki's Delivery Service, Haru in the Cats Kingdom / The Cat Returns, Howl's Moving Castle, the Doraemon films, and many more. You can download them from the website Anime Lliure.
And other cartoons like Totally Spies, Code Lyoko, Lucky Luke, Princess Shéhérazade, Massagran's Adventures, Maia the Bee, Tintin, Inspector Gadget, The Smurfs, 10+2, etc.
There's lots of books for children and you can buy them on the internet even if you live outside of the Catalan Countries. A famous classic one is El zoo d'en Pitus by Sebastià Sorribas, from the year 1966. Here you have a link with recommendations for more modern ones.
Another good option is the sketches 4Cats made for learners, where you have the text written next to the screen. You can search the episodes by level and by dialect/accent.
I have posted more advanced TV shows recommendations (with links to the official TV3 website to watch them legally for free) here.

Superlinguo 2020 in review
2020 felt like a year of lurching from one chaotic moment to another. Particular low-lights included attempting to teach with a toddler underfoot, and that small matter of a global pandemic. Putting together the collection of things I did and wrote this year, it all feels a bit surreal. Many of these things were written frantically in those months when daycare was open, or at 5am before the hurricane awoke.
Crash Course
One of my biggest projects for 2020 was working with Gretchen McCulloch to co-write the 16 scripts for Crash Course Linguistics, from Complexly and PBS. This series will wrap up in January. The full playlist is available on YouTube with English closed captions. The 16 episodes (and links to the accompanying Mutual Intelligibility post with additional resources):

Mutual Intelligibility
Lingthusiasm launched Mutual Intelligibility in March 2020 to help connect linguistics instructors to curated linguistics content as teaching rapidly moved online. We produced 6 Resource Guides in collaboration with Kate Whitcomb (Layman’s Linguist) and weekly 3 Links posts, mostly edited by Liz McCullough. Mutual Intelligibility resources were also created to support each of the 16 Crash Course videos.

Academic articles in 2020
The weird thing about academic publishing is that it takes a couple of years for something to go through review and publishing. On paper 2020 was an exciting year for my research, with lots of work in print. The problems with 2020 research won’t really hit until 2021-2022. Special mention to the article in Gesture, which is dated 2019, but only came out this year:
Gawne, Lauren, & Hildebrandt, Kristine A. (2020). Reported speech in earthquake narratives from six Tibeto-Burman languages. Studies in Language, 44(2), 461-499. [Open Access version][published version][blog summary]
Gawne, L., G. Roche & R. Gamble. (2020) “The bus doesn’t stop for us”: Multilingualism, attitudes and identity in songs of a Tibetic community of Nepal. Multilingua. 1-31. [Open Access version][published version][blog summary]
The year ahead
In 2021 nothing changes and everything changes: I’ll still be at La Trobe but I’m now on a permanent/ongoing contract (analogous to ‘tenure’ in the Nth American context). It’s going to take a while to really come to terms with the fact I can now plan long term projects with certainty, and no longer do I have to give over part of my brain to worrying where I’m going to end up next year, every year. I’m trying to not take on new projects, but just keep working on exciting things that are happening and think about where I want to take them.
Previous years
Previously these posts were named after the year ahead, but they were a look back at the year we just had. I’ve decided to refresh this from this year (it’s never to late to reconsider a habit!):

Wrong Number
Plot: The reader accidentally texts a wrong number when trying to text her best friend. But this stranger doesn’t want to stay a stranger to her and the two of them engage in a texting relationship. But what happens when the reader wants to meet this Jason Todd? Will he be everything she wants, or should they just stay texting buddies?
This is technically the 1st part in a series I want to do. If this is well received, I will continue on. However, this could also just be a one-shot.
Warnings: Language and some Sexual Content. Bold is for Y/N. Italics is Jason.
This has to be a joke. I can feel my cheeks burn with embarrassment, even though I live alone and there’s literally no one around to see me right now. But what I’m staring at is something I never thought in a million years I would ever have to see in person:
Vibrating panties.
Of course, the packaged gift is from my so-called friends who are sick and tired of me being single and horny all the time. I suppose whenever we all go out to drink or party, I could be a loner and isolate myself from the typical discussions of hook ups and current crushes.
And to get back at me, I’m stuck with a pair lacy black panties that’ll “supposedly” make me cum.
Beyond angry and shaking from humiliation, I send a very pissed off text message to my best friend and a picture of the sexual gift I’m stuck with.
Is this some kind of evil, twisted joke to get back at me?!?! What am I supposed to do with this?!?!
I can feel my heart pounding in my chest when I grip my phone tightly in my hands. A text message alert sounds surprising fast.
Sexy panties...but you’ve got the wrong number, doll.
I immediately freeze. Oh shit! I was off by 1 number when I was texting in fury at my so-called best friend.
I’m horribly embarrassed once again.
Omg! I’m so sorry!
That’s okay.
The purpose of those vibrating panties is to make you cum, in case you didn’t know.
I gasp in shock at the bluntness from this stranger!
Excuse me????
You were asking about what to do with them. In the first text message? I was just answering your question.
And you know so much about vibrating panties, right? So, what are you? Some kind of panties expert???
LOL. You would be very surprised, sweetheart.
The stranger sends me a picture along with that text message. A picture of the same product I have that they Googled online and took a snapshot of the details.
And trust me, I’m an expert and my partners never need this when they’re with me.
I feel my cheeks heat up.
Whatever. Have a good evening.
I roll my eyes. I don’t think this stranger will even text me back. Who knew texting a wrong number would cause me all this awkwardness and red cheeks.
Same to you.
I toss my phone on the couch and force myself to go heat up some leftovers for dinner, and to push the Wrong Number Stranger out of my head for the night.
————————————————————————
There’s a chill in the air as I walk through crowds of people on the sidewalk. It’s almost winter here in Gotham, and everyone’s dressed in scarfs, jackets, and pants. Pushing my way through talking strangers, I quickly rush into the coffee shop for warmth and treats.
Being the third in line, the familiar ding from my cell phone catches my attention.
Did you figure out how to use the vibrating panties yet?
My eyes widen at the text message from the Wrong Number Stranger.
For your information, no. I don’t need them. It was a stupid, mean present from my friends.
Ah, really? Presents like that are usually fun and helpful.
Meaning what??? Are you assuming I don’t have a sexual life going on right now???
Well, considering you’re so against the gift and you’re shying away from talking about the panties, I have to assume you’re single and you have been for a very long time, and you’re very easily embarrassed by anything having to do with sex.
I instantly frown at that message, until they text me a second one.
Look, that came out very harsh. I don’t personally know you, and you don’t personally know me. I’m the kind of guy who doesn’t shy away or avoid anything sexual. I guess it’s because I’m comfortable with it and I’ve been told I’m a Sex God more than a few times.
I have to exhale hard and shove my phone in my back pocket to have both hands free to carry my coffee and blueberry scone to the table to sit and eat.
Pulling my cell phone out, I see they texted me again.
I hope I didn’t scare you or make you uncomfortable. If you want me to stop texting you, then I will.
I don’t know why but my fingers begin to type back even when I know I shouldn’t keep talking to someone I don’t even know at all.
It’s okay. I don’t mind talking to you.
I feel myself smiling a little as I send another text message. What is wrong with me???
My name’s Y/N Y/LN.
My name’s Jason Todd. And I don’t mind talking to you either.
I like the name Jason. For some reason...it fits you. And it’s good to know your name since I had you saved as “Wrong Number” on my phone lmfao.
Well, Y/N is a gorgeous name. I don’t mind changing your name on my phone even if it means “Sexy Panties” is going to be Y/N now LOL.
Jason even uses the laughing crying emojis that has me laughing hard. I can see he doesn’t text like other guys, because he tries hard to spell correctly and use correct grammar.
Maybe he’s an avid reader and an English major?
And for the first time today, I smile for real.
————————————————————————
I was in the middle of cooking spaghetti for dinner when my phone binged. Picking up my phone, I see Jason texted me.
Have you ever wanted to punch somebody in the mouth and knock out all their teeth, and make them swallow their tongue?
I raise my eyebrows in surprise.
Not necessarily. Why? Are you planning to do that???
It’s fucking stupid, really. Sometimes I wonder why I’m still around this damn family.
I’m sorry to hear that. If there’s anything you want to talk about, I’m here for you.
I can see the three bubbles on my screen indicating he’s responding to me. My heart beats fast.
It’s just...my dad, I guess.
His dad?
He’s not really my dad. He’s not blood related to me. He adopted me when I was just a kid, and ever since then we’ve been at each other’s throats.
Is he mean to you?
Sometimes. But I guess I can be mean to him, too. It’s just hard to be the kind of guy he expects me to be. He’s a lot easier on my brothers. Sometimes I wonder if I should just give up and leave.
This is the first time we’ve ever gotten deep with each other. I feel my heart beating slow and fast at the same time whenever we speak. His vulnerability and sensitive side is refreshing; the egotistical and cocky side isn’t entirely him.
I’m really sorry. I don’t exactly know what to say. But from what I know about you, I wouldn’t give up. You’re not a bad guy, Jason. If you’re trying hard to be good, then that’s just as good as being good in the first place.
The three bubbles at the bottom make me nervous. I wonder if I crossed the line. Maybe I shouldn’t have said anything to Jason.
You really believe that?
I wouldn’t have said it if I didn’t believe it.
For some reason...you believing in me makes me feel better.
I smile a little at that. I even feel a little better knowing I’m helping him in some way.
That’s good. I’m happy to know you’re okay.
I turn my attention to turn off the stove when I see the spaghetti sauce is hot enough to pour onto the soft noodles. My mind quickly turns to Jason. Would we ever hear each other speak on the phone? Will we ever send each other pictures of ourselves? Will we ever meet in person?
I know I want to meet him. For some reason, that thought doesn’t scare me even if I know he could be a serial killer and want to kill me.
But wanting to see what he looks and sounds like makes the butterflies in my stomach flutter like crazy. Is it even normal to feel this way?
My phone beeps. While serving myself a plate of dinner, I glance down and see his text message that stops my heart.
Do you ever think we’ll meet each other?

Learn to read and write
The most basic step is to learn to read and write. Other sources will not cater to English speakers, so you might as well get this step done first. I promise it is not difficult. I’ve made a YouTube video about the perfection of the Korean writing system, which I recommend you watch. I can’t stress enough that learning Hangeul is so easy. When I learned it on a whim during summer vacation 2013–I kid you not–I learned the writing system from zero to mastery in three hours. Since then, even more resources have appeared on the internet. In fact, I’m a bit jealous that Learn Korean with Go! Billy made a 90 minute video covering everything you need to know to be literate.
Get the Naver Korean dictionary
Of course, there are plenty of Korean-English dictionaries that work fine, but I always have preferred Naver. Even when I try to experiment with new ones, I always go back to Naver. The UI is good, the search is well optimized even if you misspell a word or use the wrong keyboard, and each word entry has lots of information to check if you are using the right word. Among that information are example sentences, hanja, and pictures.
You can get the Naver dictionary on the Google Play store and the App Store.
Get the Papago translator
Papago is the AI translator owned by Naver. The reason I recommend it is because of the quality of its translations. Of course, you will be learning the language, but translators are useful tools on that road to acquisition. Many of us already have Google Translate on our phones, but I recommend Papago for Korean specifically because their translations are optimized for Korean to English translations. In my opinion, the quality and speed of its translations surpass that of Google Translate when it comes to the Korean language. In addition to the standard text translator, you can speak into the app and translate images. I think it should be on the phone of every Korean beginner.
Tumblr media
You can get the Papago translator on the Google Play store and the App Store.
talktomeinkorean.com
I think every Korean beginner will encounter this website in their studies. I think I learned 80% of my grammar from this website when I was learning the basics. TTMIK is a website that offers an enormous amount of Korean knowledge for free or for a fee. It’s actually amazing that the essential Korean courses and the PDF notes that go along with them are completely free.
It’s hard to comprehend how generous the TTMIK team is. This is like not needing to pay for your car’s engine, but you can pay for the radio if you want. They provide some premium content if you want to pay, but it’s not necessary for a Korean beginner. I do recommend it, however, because I cannot help but want to support them after seeing how generous they have continued being since I learned with them heavily in 2014.
Duolingo
Duolingo does not need any explanation. Every language learner probably has experience with this app, and it has a Korean course, which may be useful for people who like the Duolingo format. Although Duolingo has some issues related to the utility of lessons and the clunky way they introduce concepts, it is more than enough to get some knowledge that can help a Korean beginner navigate materials made for upper beginners or early intermediate learners.
Get yourself a textbook
Although talktomeinkorean.com might be enough for the Korean learner who wants things to be as cheap as possible, that is not enough for a lot of people. Many people prefer paper books, and there is value in having online and offline sources. Obviously, anything from the TTMIK bookstore is gold for any Korean beginner. There are some other particular books I recommend.
Korean Made Simple: A beginner’s guide to learning the Korean language
This is the most approachable book that I am recommending. It is really made simple and has plenty of explanations that do not get too confusing with linguistic jargon. I love the complicated textbooks, but maybe that is not good for a Korean beginner.
Korean Made Easy for Beginners
This one is similar to the previous one in terms of being approachable and simplified for absolute beginners.
Korean Grammar for International Learners
This one goes a little deeper and has less cute things to look at, but it still works for beginners.
Ewha Korean. 1-1
This is also a little deeper for people who want some good explanations.
JUST START LEARNING
The process of collecting resources might actually be the way a lot of people procrastinate. I noticed myself doing this on tumblr. I reblog resources for languages and sleep calmly because I feel I accomplished something in my target language. However, you need to actually use these sources to improve your Korean. The most important thing you need to do if you are a Korean beginner is to actually use the sources I just recommended. It is not enough to just download these and feel you accomplished something for the day. Actually learn one grammar point and then relax. Open the book that just came in the mail. Listen to a TTMIK podcast. Anything is better than nothing, and doing nothing is worse than anything.

The Way To Teach English As A Second Language To Beginners
Let's face it, when planning weekly classes, having a number of "go-to" actions on deck could make the task of planning much easier. These are not simply "fillers," but tried and true actions which would possibly be significant, enjoyable and efficient at building language. Here are three weekly language building actions that do NOT require planning time. Whatever the age of your students, they’re guaranteed to love playing EFL games within the classroom. An EFL classroom ought to be enjoyable, active and challenging and these games are sure to get you on target. It ought to be played after the ‘giving advice’ vocabulary lesson has taken place.
So it may not be one of the best place to depend on for all your beginner lessons. Teach This has bundles of ESL sources for every kind of learners, together with novices. ISL Collective has plenty of newbie worksheets that may profit your students. Teachers themselves have created these worksheets, so they don't seem to be free from errors (unfortunately, I’ve discovered many errors, even in the popular downloads section). Check out for dialog matters, debate matters, writing topics, and extra ideas and assets for teachers.
Many of us don't have any clue which phonetic symbols belong to which sounds, but neither you nor your students can skip this elementary ESL lesson. As an ESL teacher, the language you’re using to assist guide your students’ understanding must be as easy as potential - which isn’t always straightforward to do. Hope this article helps you place English studying and educating in perspective and turn at least slightly bit of the overwhelm into a positive expertise. (It might imply nothing to his/her communicative capacity but they might know some grammar, which is already half the battle).
All the games require students to pay attention fastidiously for info or key vocabulary. These ESL classroom video games have been specially tailored from the original hangman recreation. The video games are best for training elements of speech they usually work nicely when introducing new vocabulary or subjects at the beginning of a lesson.
Kenneth Beare is an English as a Second Language teacher and course developer with over three decades of educating experience. ESL Gold is devoted to being the quickest and best method to learn English as a Second Language online. Most academics may also be relying closely on flashcards from the Flashcard Library at this level.
Develop a longtime approach to review on the end of every class, something that your students will get used to, anticipate and revel in. Was there a standard mistake students have been making with the lesson material? Some college students may not have sufficient power to suck up the paper with the straw, so the game may be adapted to blow the items of paper from desk to desk or flat surface instead. The line of scholar shifts, and the final scholar now turns into the primary to choose up the following piece of paper to begin the process another time.
On the other hand, if they'll rattle off everything from the last lesson, you might have to choose up the pace in order that they don’t get bored. Rather then launching into new materials, take the time to evaluation the material that was covered in the last lesson. With kids it may be getting them to establish the names of meals from pictures. With adults it could involve asking them about what they learned within the final lesson.
So even when you decide that right now goes to be a day for personal info, you will still include numbers and body parts and classroom objects and possibly even emotions. What I found works nicely is to have an overarching “theme” if you'll and then go from there. Depending on the student’s native language background and literacy in it, the alphabet could be taught immediately as nicely. For Latin-based languages, making certain that the scholar is aware of that the letters and letter-sounds in English are two various things is necessary. For non-Latin based languages like Arabic, Mandarin or Korean it is essential to go over the alphabet fastidiously and spend a bit extra time on it, together with specializing in pronunciation. There may be simple grammar exercises on the current simple, etc.
Instead of writing ‘T’ for trainer and ‘S’ for student on the paper playing cards, you could additionally write ‘Q’ for query and ‘A’ for answer. Highlight the learning goals in your lesson plan, however don’t stress an excessive amount of about this portion. The common objective is for faculty kids to know what you’re attempting to show them. Lesson planning is probably considered one of the most important elements of instructing English abroad, however it’s additionally one of the most time-consuming and tedious.

As a parent, you often find yourself searching, “What is the best school in my area?” in your web browser. In today’s digital age, the answer may not solely lie in traditional offline schools i.e. primary or private schools. Online Childhood Education is your way to go.

The Digital Learning Revolution in Online Childhood Education is Here
Online childhood education is not just a passing trend; it represents a transformative approach to learning. BYITC’s digital platform highlights that productive education transcends physical classrooms, offering personalised learning experiences that cater to each child’s unique learning style. As the world’s first digital game-based Abacus Maths learning platform for beginners and advanced students, BYITC integrates a holistic educational approach, fostering creativity, critical thinking, and brain development. This has truly revolutionised how we perceive early learning.
Interactive Engagement is Key
At BYITC, we understand that online learning must be engaging and interactive. We incorporate gamification and fun virtual activities into kids’ structured curriculum. These tools maintain motivation and enthusiasm among students and create an exciting learning atmosphere that draws them in and generates a love for learning. This innovation is at the heart of modern online childhood education.
Emphasising STEM and Digital Literacy
There is no doubt we live in a tech-savvy world. Coding, cybersecurity, and digital literacy are vital skills. We prioritise safety and confidentiality while teaching kids to become responsible digital citizens. Our comprehensive curriculum includes:
Mental Arithmetic Techniques – Abacus Maths: Developing mathematical prowess and cognitive abilities.
English Grammar and Creative Writing: Enhancing language skills for effective communication.
Coding for Kids: Introducing essential programming skills.
Cybersecurity Awareness: Teaching children how to navigate the digital space safely.
Interactive STEM Courses: Encouraging curiosity and innovation through hands-on learning.
Our courses are nothing short of what primary and private schools offer. BYITC is on its way to becoming a virtual school for all kids, all skills, and all futures. With online childhood education, we are paving the path for an inclusive and advanced learning environment.
Personalised Learning: A Tailored Approach
One of the key benefits of online childhood education is the ability to customise learning experiences. At BYITC, we focus on:
1:1 Attention: Delivering individualised support to meet each student’s needs.
Adaptive Curriculum: Modifying materials based on student performance.
Progress Tracking: Keeping parents informed of their child’s achievements.
Rich E-learning Resources: Providing tools and materials that enhance learning.
While academic success is crucial, physical activity and emotional well-being are equally important. One of the greatest advantages of our curriculum is its flexibility, enabling your child to enjoy outdoor activities while seamlessly returning to their academics wherever they are (as long as you provide access to a laptop and Wi-Fi, of course!). Furthermore, our practices allow children to progress at their own pace.
Building Community in the Digital Space
Contrary to the belief that online learning isolates students, BYITC brings together a vibrant community and presents franchise opportunities. Our platform connects:
Learners Worldwide: Promoting cross-cultural interaction and collaboration.
Like-minded Parents: Facilitating a supportive network of shared educational goals.
Innovative Educators: Hiring only the best and most passionate teachers who embrace modern methodologies.
Note: BYITC equips thorough teacher-training programmes in virtual classroom skills, including engaging mannerisms and confident body language, ensuring a dynamic learning relationship with kids, something that is amiss in primary/private education institutions.
Holistic Development: Beyond Academics
Critical Thinking Skills: Fostering problem-solving abilities that benefit students throughout life.
Global Awareness: Preparing learners to understand and appreciate diverse cultures.
Human Values: Instilling respect and empathy towards others while allowing them to express themselves freely.
Responsible Digital Citizens: Teaching students the skills to navigate the online world responsibly.
BYITC – Your Partner in Education
Founded by Dr. Rashmi Mantri, BYITC provides academic excellence with transformative life-skills-building experiences designed to empower children, teachers, and parents. Our ultimate goal is to help children become well-rounded individuals ready for challenges.
Online childhood education is an effective approach to learning in today’s digital world. It is gaining traction as parents and educators fully embrace its possibilities. With us leading the way, you can trust and embark on this journey that nurtures your children’s 360-degree growth.

Survey #367
“i should warn you that you may fuck me, but chances are i’m gonna fuck you over”
Where was the last place you went for vacation? The beach. When was the last time you wore makeup? Halloween. Do you watch soaps or drama series? If so, which ones? Not currently. What’s your favourite tomato variety? I hate tomatoes. What was your very first pet like? Dad had a dog named Trigger when I was born, but I have no memory of her, so I'm excluding her. I consider our first family pet to be Chance, a cat my mom took in after finding her literally in the trash. She was... god, incredible. She was a loyal friend, and I can imagine no greater mother than she was (she legit fought off a rottweiler head-on to protect her kittens). She was so smart, so gentle, and just simply amazing. I'll always miss her. What was the best school project you remember doing? Looking back, despite the fact it TERRIFIED me before, that would be my senior project presentation. It was about snake misconceptions and fallacies, so I made a slideshow to present to the special ed class. I made drawings for them to color, word searches, all that kind of stuff. They were just the sweetest and seemed really into it. What’s your favourite type of fish to eat? None. What kind of an old person do you think you’ll become? I really... don't like thinking about this. Like I'm weak enough now at 25, I can't imagine how my, say, 60s would be. I hope and just about pray that my physical health will improve, but I'm just going to exclude that part entirely from this answer. Personality-wise and such, I have a feeling I'll be the quiet and sweet kind, the one that loves her (hopeful) spouse like crazy, and comes most alive on Halloween if I live in a place where children come trick-or-treating. I imagine I would LOVE that. I'd love to be the type that goes on morning jogs to help stay spry. Which well-known person’s death shocked you the most, if any? Steve Irwin and Chester Bennington might be tied. Both were so, so sudden. Steve was like, invincible to my childhood eyes, and when I heard about Chester's death, I thought it was just a sick rumor. Two amazing people that died way too soon. What’s the craziest colour you’d dye your hair? That would depend on personal opinions. I want to dye my hair LOTS of colors though, if that tells you anything. What’s the coolest hobby one of your friends has? Uhhhh. Idk. Name a video game you can play over and over again: Shadow of the Colossus. It's a pretty short game if you know what you're doing, and it's super relaxing to me and just so goddamn pretty to look at. Every time I've played it has just been a pleasant experience. Do you like meatloaf? Yeah, it's fine. How about Meatloaf? I know who he is, but I've never really listened to his music. Do you take time to do charitable work? If so, what do you do? No. ;_; Especially with all the free time I have, I really should... What is something that will make you laugh instantly? Okay, don't ask, but if I for a SECOND see that commercial of Mr. Clean dancing while he's cleaning, I will die because of memories. What is something you hope you will never inherit from a specific relative? Diabetes. It runs heavily in my family. Name a movie you wouldn’t watch solely based on its name: The Human Centipede. No. Thank you. Have you ever played in a stack of hay bales? No. What’s your dearest souvenir? The stuffed moose I got at Cabela's during a visit to Ohio. I named him Brownie, and he was my "childhood plushie" we all have. Is there a lot of graffiti around your neighbourhood? Not in the actual area I live in, but there are DEFINITELY places where it's a pigsty of distasteful shit. Have you ever made your own soda? (Soda Stream doesn’t count!) No. Do you have a hobby that forces you out of the house? If so, what is it? Nature photography. Have you ever been part of a theater group? No, that stuff doesn't interest me. What’s the most ecological thing you do? We recycle, and I also use metal straws. Would you stop eating meat, if you had to raise and slaughter it yourself? Absolutely. There is no fucking way I could do it. What’s your favourite board game? Why do you like it best? I like Clue just because of the mystery-solving factor, and I think it's kinda cool how you can think ahead and use other's findings to your own advantage to win the game pretty early. Besides English, what other languages can you speak? Some German. It's gotten pretty weak with neglect, though. Besides English, what other languages can you read? I can read German well. What thing/person/happening has made you the happiest you’ve been? This is a complicated answer that I just don't feel like elaborating on. What’s the most freeing thing you’ve ever done? Letting Jason go. Have you ever had a restaurant dish that was made with bugs? If not, would you even want to try one? No, and I'm not interested. Have you ever tasted birch sap? No. How about the young buds/shoots of spruce trees? No. Which edible flowers have you tasted? Honeysuckles. What has been your worst restaurant experience? Well, it's a fast food restaurant, but lemme tell you about my vegetarian encounter with Burger King. I ordered their veggie burger. Which they have. It's not a secret. These idiots gave me a bun with tomato and lettuce, and I think mayo on it, after sounding confused when Mom was ordering for me. Mom went back in there of course to tell them, and oh god was the manager pissed, lol. I got my veggie burger in the end. What’s the most immature, adolescent thing that still makes you laugh? Some sexually inappropriate jokes can still get me sadly, lol. Have you ever had a life-threatening condition? If so, what was it? Not literally, but boy do I think depression counts. Do you ever compare your life to somebody else’s? If so, why? Y E P. I can't tell you why, I just... do it. I look at other's successes and am just like, "Why aren't I there yet?", and beat myself up about being a failure. What is a food item or a dish you absolutely cannot stand? Brussel sprouts, asparagus, runny eggs, many other things because I'm just mega picky. Have you ever had a custom print done on a shirt? If so, what was it? Just the spray paint kind that vendors like to do at the beach and stuff. I don't remember any I got, though. What does your favourite mug look like? It's black with a Markiplier quote on it, given to me by Sara. :') Do you ever read other people’s survey answers? Yeah! Friends', anyway. I love learning all the obscure things about them. Do you like daytime or night time better? Why? Daytime, specifically early morning, because it's better for my depression. Are you more comfortable as a leader or a follower? A follower that isn't afraid to speak up when I'm really against something. What is your favourite song right now at this very moment? I've been really into "7empest" by Tool lately, and the synthwave edit of "Voices" by Motionless In White. If you watched The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, who was your favourite character? I don't remember it well, but I think I liked the butler. Was there even a butler? Who was your first online friend? Emma. :') Do you have any plants in your home? No. If you wear makeup, what’s the most outrageous colour you use? I only ever use black. What was the last photograph you took? My cat being adorable while sleeping. <3 Have you ever submitted a video to Funniest Home Videos? No. What was the first sport you learned how to play? I want to say soccer? I absolutely hated it. Do you have a headache at the moment? Yes, actually. I've really been attacked by the Covid shot side effects. Are your parents still together? No, thank god. What was the last hot food you ate? I made a chicken and I think pesto (some Italian noodles, idk) Healthy Choice bowl for dinner last night. Have you ever seen a meteor shower? No. :( Do you ever feel afraid people will question your sanity? I'm sure people have before, and back then? Rightfully so. Which X Factor audition(s) was/were your favorite? Never watched it. Were you a straight A student in spelling and grammar? Always. It's so weird how it's gotten worse with time since leaving school, even though I write... Were you a straight A student in math? Yeah, no. I usually got Bs or Cs. What is your favorite shade of yellow? Pastel. I don't really like yellow. What is something you want to accomplish before you turn 30? Have a stable job. Are you afraid of getting yelled at? YES. Do you feel a connection to the moon? It's not something I think about, so not really, but I do believe all things in the universe are connected in some way. We are simply a part of nature, as all else is. What does your heart long for? Contentment in who I am and where I am in life. I know I also miss being in love. Do you know what your purpose in life is? We have no innate purpose; we make our own, and I want mine to be to show others that there is always hope for yourself in yourself, and also to spread the message of love of all animals. Did you decorate a pumpkin this year? Last year I didn't. I really should change that this go around. Have you ever seen a fox? Yes! They're a kind of rare sight here sadly, so when I had the opportunity to photograph a fox tragically as roadkill, it was a photographic experience I won't forget. God, I wanted to pet it (I obviously didn't), but I did talk to it about how beautiful (s)he was as I got some shots. I never had a harder time leaving one of those angels I've taken pictures of. Do you find Halloween fun or scary? FUN!!!!!! Is there anything about Halloween you find offensive? Not at all. What do the trees look like where you live? I mean, there's a variety, but the staple that you see literally everywhere are pine trees. What is your dream vacation? Somewhere with mountains, clear lakes, cool weather, beautiful and various wildlife... What was the best vacation you’ve been on so far? Disney World as a kid. What is the best class trip you’ve been on? The zoo in the 5th grade. It was the one occasion I got to see meerkats. Did you like field trips when you were a kid? I lived for them. Do you find museums boring or interesting? I find science museums to be very, very fascinating. Art ones are great, too. What are three issues you are passionate about? LGBT rights, the pro-choice movement, and wildlife conservation, to name a few. Would you ever wear a shirt with your country’s flag on it? No. I'm not patriotic enough at all. What size is your bed? Queen. What’s a medicine that makes you sleepy? When we were experimenting with my Klonopin dosage, I learned that 3mg was enough to knock me on my ASS. Do you like bath bombs? I mean they're pretty, but I wouldn't waste money on 'em. Who are your favorite small YouTubers? Yikes, a looooooot. But this also depends on what you think qualifies as "small." Most of my favorite "small" YTers are tarantula keepers or sub-1M let's players. Who are your favorite big YouTubers? Markiplier obviously, Snake Discovery, Good Mythical Morning (even if I don't watch them anymore, they are veeery dear to my heart and I will always support them), Sam & Colby... Again, there's a lot. When you don't watch TV and YT instead, you really get attached to a lot of them. What was your favorite girl group when you were growing up? Would you believe me if I said Pussycat Dolls? haha Do you like Disney movies? Um, DUH. Were you ever in the popular crowd? No. Have you ever used an outhouse? UGH, at like childhood sports games, yes. I could NEVER nowadays, oh my god. Could you possibly write a successful novel? I think I have the creativity to, but not the dedication. Are there any foods that make you gag? Beans, for one. I just canNOT with them. It's a completely involuntary reaction. Have you ever had blonde highlights in your hair? I think I did? Who was the last person you video-chatted with? The lady who was seeing if I qualified for TMS therapy. Do you think sleeve tattoos look trashy? Definitely not, I love those. If you had to get a portrait tattoo, who would it be of? I don't actually want one, but if I did, I'd go to a serious professional to get THE Darkiplier smile. :') If u know u know. Do you have any stickers on any of your electronic devices? No. Do you think half blonde/half dark brown hair is attractive? It looks great on some people, but it's not my favorite combo.

My Korean study resources [2020 Q2]
At the start of the year I posted about what resources I was using but I’ve actually somewhat changed (like the gif) my routine since I had to come back to England so here’s an update of the resources that I’ve been using in the last 3 months!
Tumblr media
Online Learning Resources
Talk To Me In Korean (TTMIK) Basic free courses [available on www.talktomeinkorean.com] - I’m still working through from beginning to end to revise my grammar - I just finished Level 3 - even though their level test says I’m Level 6, there is still stuff I’m learning for the first time or clarifying
TTMIK videos - whenever I’m looking for an explanation, they usually have it on YouTube
Quizlet - I'm now studying vocabulary using my very own Quizlet sets that I created myself. Whenever I come across new words I add them to one of my Quizlet lists and then aim to test my vocab a few times a week. You can look at my Quizlet sets so far by clicking HERE
Reading and Translation
Webtoons - I prefer these to books because they focus on conversation. I read them here: NAVER Webtoon or Daum Webtoon
News articles - I try to browse NAVER every now and then and look for short articles
Korean Twitter - I’m a lurker on Korean Twitter now ahha
Listening and Watching
Korean cartoons - I’m using the Language Learning with Netflix plugin to watch kids cartoons as there are some on Netflix (search Korean cartoons). I prefer to watch the cartoons because they use more basic language, are short in length AND also I’m not invested in the story line so don’t mind constantly pausing to write down vocab
TTMIK Real Life Korean Conversations for Beginners audio on Google Podcasts
Korean YouTube channels - I’m now trying to watch videos that are not language learning videos but actual 100% Korean content. I find this one 장삐쭈 to be pretty good because it has English subs too!
Variety shows - I’m still watching a lot of variety shows with a notebook in hand to write down words and phrases
KDrama - I’ve become less reliant on using KDrama as a learning tool because it takes me way too long to watch a show this way, but I’m trying to listen to the words in Korean more these days rather than just reading English subs
Books
Korean Grammar in Use: Beginning (Darakwon) [BEST BOOK EVER]
Your First Hanja Guide (Talk To Me in Korean)
Everyday Korean Idiomatic Expressions (Talk To Me in Korean)
Korean Culture in 100 Keywords (Darakwon)
Korean Q&A Sentence Patterns (Talk To Me in Korean)
Writing and speaking
Diary entries - I’m writing diary entries 2 or 3 times a week in Korean and using the Papago app to check
HelloTalk - I’ve kind of fallen out with HelloTalk again.... I keep meeting amazing people then meeting some really weird people.... so I’m on a break from there which means I haven’t practiced speaking in a long time so its something for me to improve for Q3
---------------
Thanks guys for motivating me to keep going - although I feel like I’ve taken a huge sideways step in my learning, I’m more motivated to continue because of all the messages and encouragement from all of you! Love you guys!

Hey!! I want to learn Spanish and I see you're a beginner yourself. What resources are you using?
Hi! I’m so glad you want to learn too! Almost all of the resources I use are free/very cheap and available online:
I use the apps Duolingo and Memrise every day. They both have a similar streak system which motivates me to actually do a little every day. Duolingo is a great vocabulary builder whereas Memrise, while it might be a little more difficult to use than Duolingo, offers “real life” Spanish phrases and includes videos from actual native speakers. Both the apps offer paid memberships, but tbh, unless you travel frequently to the point you want to be able to do your lessons without being connected wifi/ or are that bothered by ads, it makes no difference to your learning experience. Unless of course you are in a financial position to do so and want to support the app then by all means!
There are two podcasts I’ve found which are great as well, and their episodes are only 10-20 mins each so I just listen to them whenever I’m walking my dog etc. The first is called Coffee Break Spanish - it’s run by a Scottish bloke and you sit in on his lessons teaching a girl Spanish and focuses on “real life” Spanish situations. The second is called LightSpeed Spanish, which I suppose is a bit more “grammatical” than the other one. It teaches you common verbs and their conjugations and rules etc. Both the podcasts are available on Apple Podcasts and Spotify as well as just their respective websites.
YouTube is another great resource too! A few I have subscribed to are: Superholly, Bilingue Blogs, and Why Not Spanish? I’m sure there are hundreds more channels out there but I haven’t delved too deep into YouTube Spanish yet.
In terms of books, I’m not sure where you are in the world, but here in the UK a company called CGP makes revision guide textbooks for kids sitting their GCES. I never did Spanish at school, but I bought the GCSE Spanish AQA Revision Guide anyway. Although mine isn’t the most recent edition, I really like it because everything is broken down so simply and, aesthetically, it’s not just a big old book of text. There are tables and illustrations and questions to test yourself on at the end of each chapter. The book isn’t something I use religiously, but I find it a lot easier to use than a giant Spanish-English grammar book. I also know you can purchase e-books off of Amazon with Short Spanish Stories for Beginners, where they have a page in Spanish and then the opposite page is English. I haven’t bought any yet as I don’t think I’m quite at that level, but I’m planning to order some when I’ve passed my next Duolingo checkpoint - so I can happily report back once I have.
Finally, there is Netflix. Any Spanish TV show, film, documentary can help. At beginner level I’m assuming, like me, you’d be lost without English subtitles - but even just hearing the sounds of the language can help, especially if you’re focusing on a specific Spanish accent. Sometimes it can be tricky to wade through Netflix’s library when looking for Spanish TV (if you’re based in an English speaking country like me,) but I literally type in “Spanish TV” to the search bar and read the descriptions, adding things to my watch list that look interesting. Or I look at actors/actresses who have been in Spanish TV I’ve already seen and check out what else they’ve been in.
Oh, and of course Tumblr is a great resource! Following other people on a similar language journey to you and looking at the vocab lists/resources they post and even trying to communicate in Spanish with other users is invaluable! I’m also in a couple of Facebook groups for Spanish learners (although I never post in them), but it can be quite helpful to see other people’s questions being answered.
I hope this helps! :)  ¡Buena suerte!
