Hi everyone, I kind of abandoned this account but I'm coming back because I am mad ♡
So here's my thoughts about about art competitions, AI art, and the Stride K12 schools.
Every year, the Stride online school company hosts a national art competition for students. This is the 18th annual competition, and the total prize pool adds up to $20,000. And this year, they've included AI-generated images into a category, with these prizes totaling $2,000.
(By the way, to clear up any confusion: There are four grade bands, and each group gets $500, totaling in $2,000. $2,000 for AI generated stuff that doesn't have an ounce of creativity is WILD.)
I can't even begin to express how disappointed I am right now. If you're a part of the Stride school system, PLEASE contact them and pressure them to get rid of this category. The competition deadline is March 25.
There are over 2 million students enrolled in Stride schools. If even a fraction of us band together, I think we can make a difference.

And I do want to say: I don't have any problem with these art competitions. I think they're amazing, I've entered them before, and I've even won once. But the fact that they're including AI just makes me so uncomfortable. I think you SHOULD enter these if you want to gain recognition for your art, but AI receiving hundreds of dollars worth of competition prizes is just so extremely immoral in my opinion.

5 Tips to Send Your Art to an Online Drawing Competition (and Win!)
Are you an artist itching to showcase your talent? Submitting your work to an online drawing competition can open doors to recognition, opportunities, and even cash prizes! Whether you're a seasoned artist or a beginner with a passion for creativity, entering an online art contest is a fantastic way to gain exposure and put your skills to the test. Whether you specialize in painting, sculpture, or digital art, responding to a call for entries artist notice can help you gain recognition in the art world.
But before you hit “submit,” let’s talk strategy. Winning an art competition for money isn’t just about having jaw-dropping talent—it’s also about knowing how to present your work professionally and make it stand out. Here are five pro tips to ensure your submission shines among thousands of entries.
1. Choose the Right Online Drawing Competition for Your Style
Not all online art contests are created equal. Some cater to realism, while others celebrate abstract expressionism, digital art, or mixed media. Before submitting, research competitions that align with your artistic style.
How to find the best competition?
Check the theme – Does the contest have a specific subject? If so, ensure your artwork fits the guidelines.
Look at past winners – This will give you an idea of what kind of artwork resonates with the judges.
Prize structure – If you’re in it for an art competition for money, review the cash prizes and awards.
Pro Tip: Some popular websites that host online art contests include Teravarna, ArtStation, DeviantArt, and Art Call.
2. Follow the Submission Guidelines for the Letter
This might seem obvious, but you’d be surprised how many artists get disqualified because they ignored submission rules! Every online drawing competition has specific guidelines regarding:
File formats (JPEG, PNG, TIFF, PDF, etc.)
Image resolution (usually 300 DPI for high quality)
Size limits (some contests restrict the file size to 5MB or 10MB)
Number of submissions per artist
Failing to comply can get your artwork rejected before it even reaches the judges.
Pro Tip: Double-check the guidelines, and if the competition requires a statement about your artwork, make it compelling and concise!
3. Make Your Artwork Look Professional
A masterpiece deserves a flawless presentation. Even if you have exceptional drawing skills, poor lighting or low image quality can ruin the impact of your submission to any online drawing competition.
How to ensure top-quality images?
Photograph your artwork in natural light – Avoid shadows and reflections.
Use a scanner if possible – This ensures the sharpest details.
Edit your image – Minor tweaks in Photoshop or free tools like Canva can enhance brightness, contrast, and color accuracy.
Pro Tip: If you're submitting a digital drawing, export it in the highest resolution allowed, and ensure the colors look vibrant on different devices. If you're an emerging artist looking for opportunities, keep an eye out for a call for entries and artist announcements from top galleries and competitions.
4. Craft a Winning Artist Statement
Many online art contests ask for an artist statement—a short paragraph explaining your artwork. A strong statement can captivate the judges and set your submission apart.
What makes a good artist statement?
Tell a story – What inspired your piece? Describe your technique – Did you use unique materials or a special method? Express emotions – What feelings or messages does your artwork convey?
Pro Tip: Keep it short and engaging—judges don’t have time to read long essays!
5. Promote Your Entry and Network
Your work doesn’t have to stop at just submitting! Many online art contests allow artists to share their entries on social media, and some even have a “People’s Choice” award based on votes.
Boost your chances by:
Posting your entry on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter with relevant hashtags (#OnlineArtContest #ArtCompetition #ArtistOnInstagram)
Engaging with other contestants – Comment on their work and build a network.
Emailing your audience – If you have a newsletter or a website, let your followers know where to vote for your piece!
Pro Tip: Some contests track engagement, and a strong online presence can help you get noticed by art curators or galleries! Don't miss your chance to participate—whenever you see a call for entries artist opportunity, take the leap and submit your masterpiece!
Bonus: Watch Out for Art Contest Scams
Unfortunately, not all art competitions for money are legitimate. Before entering, research the organization behind the contest.
Red flags include:
High entry fees with little to no prize transparency No visible judges or past winners Vague contest rules
Stick to reputable platforms to ensure your talent is appreciated (and not exploited).
Final Thoughts
Entering an online drawing competition is an exciting opportunity to showcase your artistic skills and potentially earn rewards. But winning takes more than just artistic talent—it requires strategy, professionalism, and engagement.
By following these five expert tips, you’ll be well on your way to dominating online art contests and making your mark in the art world.
Ready to submit your masterpiece? Start browsing upcoming online art competitions for money and get your work out there!

A Comprehensive History of NCERT: Evolution and Impact on Indian Education
The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has significantly influenced the education of millions of students in India. Over the decades, more than 250 million students have used NCERT textbooks, making it a cornerstone of the Indian education system. Established to strengthen schools and standardise education across the country, NCERT has played a pivotal role in shaping how education is delivered. This article traces the history of NCERT, exploring its major milestones, challenges, and significant contributions to Indian education.
The Kothari Commission and the Birth of NCERT
In 1964, the Kothari Commission was formed to evaluate and provide direction for India's education system. Its recommendations laid the groundwork for creating NCERT in 1961. The Commission advocated for a comprehensive national curriculum and the need for quality educational materials, which directly led to NCERT's establishment.
Initial Focus and Curriculum Development
From its inception, NCERT prioritized developing a cohesive curriculum that catered to students from diverse backgrounds. Early efforts included designing textbooks that would form the basis of education from primary to senior secondary levels, addressing various subjects and grades. These textbooks aimed to ensure uniformity and accessibility across the country.
Early Challenges and Adaptations
Initially, NCERT encountered multiple challenges, including resistance to change and varying regional educational needs. The organization learned to adapt by engaging with stakeholders, reaching out to teachers, and soliciting feedback to refine textbooks and teaching methods, thereby enhancing the learning experience.
Growth of Publication and Distribution
During the 1980s and 1990s, NCERT significantly expanded its publication and distribution network. The introduction of new textbooks and teaching materials reached millions of students. By the late 1990s, NCERT distributed over 70 million textbooks annually, ensuring access to quality education materials nationwide.
Diversification of Educational Materials
Recognizing the importance of varied resources, NCERT began diversifying beyond textbooks. The incorporation of supplementary materials such as workbooks, guides, and multimedia content enriched the learning experience, catering to different learning styles.
Addressing Regional and Linguistic Diversity
India's linguistic diversity presented a unique challenge. NCERT responded by translating textbooks into multiple languages, enabling students from various linguistic backgrounds to learn effectively. This effort promoted inclusivity and ensured that knowledge was accessible to all.
The Impact of Technology
In the 2000s, technological advancements transformed education. NCERT embraced this change by integrating digital resources, enhancing learning through online platforms and e-learning modules. This shift not only modernized the curriculum but also engaged tech-savvy students effectively.
Curriculum Reforms and Policy Changes
Various national education policies influenced NCERT's curriculum strategies during this period. The framework evolved to include new subjects to meet emerging societal needs, such as environmental studies and value education, adapting to contemporary challenges.
Responding to Emerging Educational Needs
To tackle new educational demands, NCERT began emphasizing skill development and vocational training. Recognizing the importance of preparing students for the workforce, NCERT designed programs that bridged academic knowledge and practical skills.
Current Activities and Initiatives
Today, NCERT is involved in several educational projects, including teacher training programs and curriculum revisions. With a vast reach, over 70% of schools in India use NCERT textbooks, reflecting the organization’s significant influence on education.
Collaboration and Partnerships
NCERT actively collaborates with state governments, educational institutions, and international organization’s to improve educational outcomes. Partnerships have enhanced resource sharing and best practices, driving innovations in teaching and learning.
Future Goals and Challenges
As NCERT moves forward, challenges remain. It aims to enhance the quality of education, especially in rural areas, and adapt to technological changes. Future goals include incorporating research-based practices to improve educational quality and accessibility further.
Impact on Educational Standards
NCERT has played a crucial role in raising educational standards across India. Its textbooks are recognized for their quality and comprehensiveness. Various studies show that students using NCERT materials perform better in national assessments, highlighting the organization’s influence.

YEAH! Sometimes making art is difficult! And, like, yeah, I am going to complain when things aren't going well or I am struggling to make my brain or my hands work.
But I love making art! I feel worse when I have not made art in awhile! I love the process of making art! I love learning new processes and trying new things and even failing at things. I do mostly digital art but I like to go back to traditional sometimes because in traditional, sometimes all you make is a mess, lmao. But you can learn a lot from making a mess!
For me, art is about so much more than a pretty picture. It really is about the process of making a picture. I really couldn't be an artist if it was all about the end result.
Do you know how many disappointing end results I have had in my life?
Neither do I. Too many to count and I don't keep track.
Sketchbooks full of disappointing things that weren't as good as the artists I loved, that didn't match the image in my head, that weren't right.
And I was proud of so many of those images at the same time. Because I knew how much work I put into them. Even as I could point out the flaws, I knew where I had improved and was happy when I stretched my abilities to something new or managed to successfully convey enough of my ideas that people understood what I was going for.
For me, the real joy in art is using my brain to solve artistic problems. Like, here is an idea or an outline of what a client needs. How do I convey this idea? How do I sell a mood? Clue you in to what a character is like? Explain a setting? Hint at something more? Tell a story? Capture a moment? Direct your eye to something important?
And I take everything I have learned and everything I am learning (because you never stop learning!) and I solve these problems. It's a puzzle! And even when I work out how a piece should look, I still get to work on it and sometimes I am still learning and reflecting and developing even as I work.
It's not fun 100% of the time, even when I get to work on my own stuff, but it is truly satisfying work for me and I cannot imagine that being an artist could be sustainable for anyone if the only part you liked was when you were done and had a pretty picture. Making art is so good! Watching a picture take shape under my hands! Brain engaged as I build an image, catch mistakes, try things, have little moments where something just works, seeing my skills grow as a I push myself, moments where I feel brilliant, moments where I am just in the zone and things flow and I make art.
The joy in my art isn't just that I have an image when I am done. It's that I took an idea and developed it, and made it happen. Think of something you do where you have felt proud because you used your skill to make something work or you have solved a challenging problem. The end product is nice, but the when you tell people about it, you tell people about the struggle to figure it out, and the moment where it all came together, and your pride at your skill. It might not have been the most fun moment in your life, but oh that the lovely rush of dopamine when it clicked and it worked!
That's what is fun about art. That's what is happening in artists' brains. We're not just Making Pretty Pictures. We're using our skills to solve technical problems to make a picture! And that's a rush! When I look at art I don't just see a nice picture. I see skill and work and an artist trying to communicate an idea. That's what is amazing about art.
And yeah, there are plenty of artists I look at and am just like "Wow! I don't think I could make that! That's so impressive! So much skill!" But, like, honestly, there's a lot of art I think is great, but it isn't....me. Artists develop their style because they like the way it looks, but also they like making it. I am enchanted by the work of people who do really elegant stylized pixel art, especially pixel animations. But, uh, I kinda hate making pixel art. It doesn't matter how cool I think some of this stuff is, the process involves stuff I do not like doing, that's not a compelling problem to solve nor satisfying or fun for me. I am never going to reach the skill level of the people who love doing this stuff and are throwing themselves into making it with great passion! If I ever passionately need something in pixel form, it would be really exciting to shove some money at someone in order to collaborate with someone has the skill to take my ideas and elevate them with their knowledge of how to make something work in pixels.
genuinely it's always upset me so much how it turned into a weird internet joke about how hating making art is part of being an artist because while yeah sometimes parts of learning it can be frustrating just like learning anything can be frustrating sometimes, making art is the most fun part of being an artist. isn't it??? did you not become an artist because you LIKED making art??? and putting your heart and soul into crafting something original that only you could make??? with your bare hands??? is that not why anybody becomes an artist????? because that's definitely why I became an artist and why all my artist friends became artists and why most artists became artists
idk going from seeing tons of ppl on social media being like "tee hee the universal artist experience of hating making art" to now looking around and seeing ai scrapers being like "tee hee now that we've stolen all the real art from everyone this now means anyone can be an artist by skipping the WORST most HATED part of being an artist, which is making the art" makes me feel. empty
#ai discussion#big long ramble#in case it is not clear lmao#I am a freelance artist#I enjoy making other people's ideas come to life#this is why I decided to be a professional artist#so my life DOES involve pitting my skill against other people#but i do not think you need to be able to make Pretty Pictures if you're just yanno making art for yourself#i know online culture can make making fun art feel like a competition#your art is not less valid if you hardly get any notes#when you make art for fun you gotta think small#you make art for you and like a handful of your best buddies or mutuals#make a piece about your blorbos that is aimed at making 1 Mutual/Friend laugh or groan or cry#was it fun making it?#was it fun getting a reaction from them?#that's what art is all about#that's it

3 Uncomfortable Truths About EVE Online
Very good game! It's a whole world where risk, invention, competition and loss go hand in hand with the joy of the prey escaping the hunter, and vice verse situations where hunter becomes the prey..., and it's a very good thing that losing has a price tag and winning brings profit...and winning doesn't come easy...Winning requires learning, experimenting...and taking risks. A truly amazingly wonderful game that is not for the spoiled and impatient.
