It’s almost like watching a puppy, really. All wide eyes and wagging tail, flopping all around the place. Learning how to walk. Oh, she is absolutely terrified, ain't no doubt about it, but at the same time: there’s a spark in those eyes of hers. He can see it. She’s so… innocent. Untainted. Fresh meat, his mind whispers. Fresh fuckin’ meat. The Wasteland’s gonna chew this little girl up and spit her right back out again. The thing about this gal is, the world kicks her down and she just keeps on getting back up. He likes that about her. It's about one of the only damn things he likes about her.

And he ain't fuckin’ blind, either, he sees the way every man they come across looks at her. Like they wanna eat her, or fuck her, or both. With the shit he's seen, it's both. But then she'll turn to him and say somethin’, and her eyes will light up all bright-like, and his stomach will churn and churn, ‘cause the truth of it is, he’s no better. He’s no fucking better.

Jinling Shengmu is so cool I’d love to see her show up more as Princess Iron Fan’s mom. And I guess Huaguang since he married Princess Iron Fan. I was so surprised to learn there’s a small temple out there where she’s worshipped alongside him since the end of the Ming dynasty.

I just wrapped up Journey to the South but I'll be honest it was just... way too boring. It is supposed to be after the Journey to the West but legit there was never really a connection to the story besides Wukong being in the first chapter and being the one to take down Huaguang in the last chapter. Otherwise, it is kind of a rinse-and-repeat plot with no real development because Huaguang keeps making more mistakes. I even thought that Princess Iron Fan in this verse was just different as well because she didn't have the Banana Leaf Fan she had like literally Iron Fan and acted like she never had a husband or son, just always living with her brother and mother.

If we are ever to get Nanyouji media they best just make it about Wukong and his kids fighting Huaguang because literally, the only interesting story line I enjoyed was him going to the demon city to save his demon mother and trying to cure her of her desire to eat humans. But that is only at the end!

But I wasn't aware of the temple which is really cool! If you have a temple or local for the temple please let me know!

WIP WEDNESDAY

Part 1 Chapter 6: Compelled to forge on

Cullurana reunion!!! It's, as I put it in the chapter notes, a trainwreck 💖 I love them.

I did not realize how short this chapter is vs how long the next two chapters are.... oooof. my bad. Also! The chapter total went up! While working on Part 2, I ended up splitting chapter 1 (Ch11) into three chapters... so um. I decided the first chapter actually belonged at the end of Part 1, rather than the beginning of Part 2. oops 😬

BUT the two scenes that were absolutely DESTROYING me for weeks are finally done. I'm finally adding new stuff to Part 2! Progress! Or something...! There was crying involved. (the major character deaths are in part 2 and 3 and it was Not. Fucking. Fun. writing the first one, I mean, as a writer, fun. as a reader I Am Not Okay)
