The revenge bedtime procrastination has been so strong lately.

Like I’m sitting here working on this translation that is further frying my fried brain because if I give up now then it’ll be morning before I know it.

That's right, I can draw horses sort of.

Ophelia's steed is really noisy to look at in the original art style and it's also kind of tricky to make sense of in 3D space but that's just witches for you. Also, the ears make it look a bit like a donkey. It's actually kind of cute.

Ophelia's very short description tells us, "She can no longer remember what the horse that always accompanies her was."

Did you know that in Japan, horse meat is called sakura meat?

Magia Record episode 6 was pretty good! Bit of a busy episode, since we’re introduced to:

These 5, of whom Felicia on the far right is a key player for the episode - she parades herself around as a mercenary and seemingly everyone has a bad impression on her - apart from Iroha, who she finds she has great chemistry with. I love the line where she’s all “you’d really cook for me?” - it’s one that’s not delivered in a super sympathetic way, Felicia’s clearly keeping up those sorts of barriers, but it still makes it clear just how disconnected she is from the people around her, and how fuckin nice Iroha-chan is. What a good girl.

Of course, we are also reintroduced to:

Our motherfuckin’ girl Kyoko! Who’s pretty much here because hey, lots of witches are here, but her experience makes itself very apparent in how she talks to Yachiyo, there’s a fair bit of sort of formalities about rules of territories and avoiding conflict with other girls, to the point where Kyouko’s genuinely surprised that Yachiyo’ll let her hunt here. I don’t know much about Kyouko’s role in Magia Record beyond adopting Yuma, whether or not we’ll even meet her in this I’m not sure, but Kyouko does some eavesdropping on our gang when they’re talking about the latest rumour, so I mean, maybe after her history with Mami she’ll want to take that rumour out on her own, or something? I’ve honestly got no guesses.

Speaking of rumours, this time around it’s some water that if you drink, 24 lucky things’ll happen to you, but afterwards, you disappear, unless you keep drinking the water anyway. Back to disappearance means Iroha has probable reason to investigate since hey maybe Ui drank this, but then the lucky stuff is also an excuse to give her some money to pay for Felicia’s services. It’s probably the least interesting rumour so far but in terms of MagiReco’s more episodic conflicts derived from said rumours, it’s doing its job fine. 

The rumour’s also an excuse to give us our last introduction of the episode, and rather than clearly introduce any one character, it’s time for the grand appearance of who I feel like are the big bads - the Wings of Magius. They all wear that iconic robe and have all their hair pretty much covered up, and I don’t know most MagiReco girls’ voices, so if any of these people are actually game characters I have no idea. Perhaps Kuro’s among them, perhaps Kuroe is among them, perhaps those two are the same thing all along, I’ve got no idea. Their objective it seems is to eliminate all witches, but they’re also interested in making sure Iroha and the gang don’t disturb this rumour, and even try to recruit Felicia, from which we get this wonderful face:

Which is uh, striking, to say the least. Anyway, if their objective is to eliminate all witches, and tons of witches are coming to Kamihama, and there’s a rumour that you can go to Kamihama to be saved, I mean, there’s gotta be a correlation between all that, yeah? Are Magius responsible for the latter rumour? Are these rumours physically affecting witches and that’s why they’re gathering here? Where do Doppels fit into all of this? Is having a Doppel being saved? Do Magius think of Doppels as witches and want to eliminate them? I can’t even fuckin guess, really I’ve got nothing. All just more plot sauce to look forward to.

MagiReco anime’s been full of mysteries like this, so I hope when we get our answers it holds up on the rewatch as well as the original show did. People that already know the game’s story don’t seem to be too bothered by the handling of mysteries from what I’ve gathered so, that’s pretty encouraging.

OOOH TELL US YOUR PITCH FOR MAGIA RECORD!!

Nice! n_nAlright then, it’s nothing particulary complicated, let’s begin:

It’d take place in Madokami’s world and it would have to be slightly adapted to fit this setting, giving an explanation for doppels, maybe relating the rumors with the wraiths in some way…and then you begin the story of MagiReco as it is in the game, but it would focus ONLY on the main five of MagiReco, starting with Iroha as the protagonist, then she meets Nanami and the others and they begin their Puella Magi adventures, eventually they run into the Magius and they begin fighting them, they do the Sana bit, they save her from the Magius  but then….twist.

The Magius unleashes a new powerful foe against them….HOLY MAMI…and she beats the everloving fuck out of the main five….but then before the Magius can capture them, Kyouko and Homura appear to save them! They explain they come from Mitakihara looking for Mami who has gone missing and they tracked her to Kamihama City and they need their help to save her (We also take the chance for some catching up, see what Mami, Kyouko and Homura have been up to since the end of the first season and how Homura is MUCH better, even imparting some of her wisdom to the other girls).Both team up and manage to defeat Holy Mami, sever her connection to the Magius and she returns to Mitakihara with Kyouko and Homura, they do promise to help them if they need it.

Later in the season Mifuyu appears and she does her secret revealing thing splitting the group appart, leaving only Iroha and Nanami together, character development for the two girls and the other three within the Magius, some brief backstory about Mifuyu and a cameo from Alina to explain more details about the Magius…unfortunately, Yui discovers the “TRUTH” about the Magius (I say that since the game hasn’t gotten that far but….it can be filled by the anime), making the three realize their mistake and return to warn Nanami and Iroha…in a bloody struggle for escaping the Magius…that can be a sole chapter, the three of them escaping the Magius HQ or something…but finally with lots of sacrifice and maybe some cameos from other girls, they escape, they reunite with Iroha and Nanami who haven’t been idle and have made discoveries and advances on their own…the two groups reunite all they have and it is time….THE FINAL BATTLE IS UPON THEM….they’re gonna go back and finish the Magius once and for all!

Mifiyu willing to take her goals to the end, takes control of the HQ’s in Kamihama and prepares for the assault, the main five even call back Mami, Kyouko and Homura for a final battle, they storm the HQ and they have a brutal battle, unleashing their doppels and everything…until they finally meet up with Mifuyu who has gone insane, she is mad with power and has a final showdown with Nanami….here two things can happen

1): Nanami Dies in battle, Iroha unleashes her ultimate power, and together with the others defeat Mifuyu and destroy the Magius HQ.

2): Nanami “Dies”, The others fight Mifuyu…and during the battle, Nanami comes back revealing she has survived, wounds Mifuyu for Iroha to finish her up which she does.

Personaly I’d spare Nanami, there can still be stories to be told with her, but hey…it’s up to the public.Either way, they have won…the Magius is gone from Kamihama….but it still exist in other parts of the world, Alina and others are still out there, the girls bow to not let it spread more and continue the fight….AND….IT ENDS……

In a post credit scene….in another city….a Girl….Kaede…. is running from the Magius…she has apparently stolen something they want…she is wouded and she can’t escape…she is cornered by the Magius….but suddently….SHE IS SAVED by Momoko and Rena…they help her stand up and ask her if she’s ok…she says she is and begs for their help, she has something very important…and she MUST deliver it to the “White Witch”…the three join forces….and depart….. “SEASON THREE”…And hopefully many more focusing on the variosu girls from MagiReco…..But that is another story.

Day 23: If you could choose one franchise PMMM would collab with, which franchise would you choose?

Honestly, probably Love Live. If it means we can see a mahou shoujo set in School Idol Festival as soon as possible, I’m totally down for it. And hey if you wanna give me like Riko cosplaying Kyouko as a card in SIF or putting Chika in MagiReco and giving her some ungodly mikan doppel then yes please
