Inspired by a conversation I recently had with friends, here is my “The JellyCat Orca Is Trans Masc and Non-Binary” theory.
(as you read this, bear in mind that I am neurodivergent and at the age of 6 my special interest was orcas)
If you’re not familiar with the JellyCat brand, they’re a British plush toy company that first became popular in the late 90s / early 00s but have recently skyrocketed in sales due to strong TikTok social media presence during the pandemic. They do cute and quirky plushes of everything from cute baby toys to stuffed animals to fruits and veggies to tacos and sushi. They’re all very soft and snuggly and a sensory delight. I’ve never owned one myself, because they’re extremely expensive, but if you enter any gift shop in this country there will be a JellyCat there somewhere.
Anyway, each of these toys are given a name and a little personality - think TY’s Beanie Babies, if you’re old enough to remember those. Anyway, enter Ollivander the Orca, who for the purposes of this post I will use he/they pronouns for:
Tumblr media
I met Ollivander in a Blackheath gift shop a few months ago and was delighted by their existence but alas could not afford them. Now, for my theory.
Ollivander strikes me as a very masc-coded name. Like, it’s basically two traditionally male names smashed together (Oliver, Alexander), like somebody couldn’t decide between two names and just said screw it, why not both. The thing is, Ollivander has the ‘wrong’ markings for a male orca - compared to his body size, he has a small, curved dorsal fin, with no saddle markings at the base. Male orcas have tall, straight dorsal fins, with prominent grey saddle markings at the base (unless held prisoner by certain unethical US marine parks). Here’s a picture for comparison:
Tumblr media
(for the orca nerds out there, I’m leaving out too many resident / transient orca dorsal fin comparisons here, because I think these are difficult to replicate in a stuffed animal; also Ollivander’s saddle markings are non-existent so there’s not much to compare there)
Compare Ollivander to Hamley’s Kai, or IKEA’s Blåvingad, who both have tall pointy dorsal fins, which indicate they are male:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyway, when my neurospicy self excitedly bounded up to the orca plush in the aforementioned gift shop, I was under the assumption Ollivander was a female orca - until I saw their name and description, which I believe is the same as on the JellyCat website:
Tumblr media
There are no gendered pronouns in this label (which I love, because children should be able to gender their beloved toys however which way they like). So from then on, my own personal head canon became that Ollivander is a trans masc orca whale who couldn’t decide between the names Oliver and Alexander, and they use he/they pronouns. I love them and can never afford them, lol.
Anyway thank you for indulging my silly neurodivergent rant about orca plushies and their various gender identities.

A Perfect Family Vacation in California: Top 7 Theme Parks to Explore
Tumblr media
Golden sunsets, scenic coastlines, and...theme parks? Absolutely. California isn't just about its natural beauty and iconic landmarks. It's also a paradise for families seeking the thrill of roller coasters, enchanting parades, and unforgettable character encounters.
Whether it's your first time visiting or you're returning for another dose of magic, a family vacation in California offers more than just destinations. In fact, it promises memories that'll last a lifetime. Dive into our guide and discover the seven must-visit theme parks that will ensure your trip is brimming with excitement, laughter, and moments to cherish. Let’s take a look, shall we?
1. Disneyland Resort: The Happiest Place on Earth
A family vacation in California isn’t complete without wandering through the magical realms of Disneyland Resort in Anaheim. The mere mention of Disneyland invokes memories of beloved characters, enchanting fairy tales, and adventures waiting around every corner.
Disneyland Park is where it all started. It's not just a park; it's Walt Disney’s dream turned into a reality. From your first step onto Main Street, U.S.A, with its nostalgic charm, to exploring the far reaches of Adventureland or meeting princesses in Fantasyland, every corner has its own magic.
Don't forget to end your day watching the mesmerizing fireworks show that lights up Sleeping Beauty Castle, offering that perfect magical touch that can melt even the toughest of hearts.
Disney California Adventure Park, on the other hand, celebrates the very essence of the Golden State. Ever wondered what it feels like to be inside a Toy Story movie or to go soaring over the world? This park offers that and much more. Radiator Springs Racers in Cars Land is a particular favorite, recreating the animated world of Lightning McQueen and his friends.
2. Universal Studios Hollywood: Dive into the Movies
Ever wanted to step into your favorite movie or TV show? Universal Studios Hollywood lets you do just that. Your family vacation in California becomes an exciting journey into the world of cinema when you're at this park.
First up is the legendary Studio Tour. It's not just a ride but a fascinating journey behind the scenes of some of Hollywood’s most famous films and shows. Narrated by the hilarious Jimmy Fallon, this tour takes you through real movie sets, from the devastating plane crash of War of the Worlds to the quaint neighborhood of Desperate Housewives.
But that’s not all! Dive into the magical Wizarding World of Harry Potter where every alley, shop, and nook echoes the stories of Harry, Hermione, and Ron. Grab a butterbeer at the Three Broomsticks, shop for wands at Ollivanders, and brace yourself for the thrills of the Forbidden Journey ride.
3. SeaWorld San Diego: Marine Life at its Best
For families who hold a deep appreciation for the mysteries of the deep blue, SeaWorld in San Diego becomes an underwater odyssey. Your family vacation in California finds a touch of aquatic magic here, blending education, conservation, and sheer entertainment.
Begin your journey with the mesmerizing Orca Encounter, where these majestic creatures showcase their natural behaviors in an amphitheater setting. It's a mix of awe and understanding, a testament to the bond between humans and marine life.
Kids especially adore the Sesame Street Bay of Play. This colorful, vibrant play area is packed with rides, shows, and, of course, the lovable characters from Sesame Street. It’s a delightful break for the little ones to run, play, and meet their favorite characters.
Last but not least, SeaWorld isn’t just about shows and rides. It’s also a place of learning and conservation. The Turtle Reef offers a close-up look at endangered sea turtles, while the Shark Encounter takes you through an underwater tunnel, surrounded by these magnificent predators.
4. LEGOLAND California Resort: A Builder’s Paradise
Located in the scenic city of Carlsbad, LEGOLAND California Resort transforms every brick lover's dream into reality. If your family vacation in California includes budding architects or LEGO aficionados, this is your go-to place.
Miniland USA is one of the park’s standout attractions. Imagine walking through miniaturized versions of America’s most iconic cities, all constructed from over 32 million LEGO bricks! From the skylines of New York City to the lively spirit of Las Vegas, this area perfectly captures the essence of these cities.
Another not-to-be-missed attraction is the LEGO NINJAGO World. Here, kids (and kids-at-heart) can put their ninja skills to the test with interactive games, rides, and challenges. The centerpiece, LEGO NINJAGO: The Ride, lets guests harness the power of the elements to defeat villains.
Lastly, for those looking to cool off, the LEGOLAND Water Park offers a splashing good time. With slides, lazy rivers, and wave pools, it's a LEGO-themed oasis for the entire family.
5. Knott’s Berry Farm: Fun for the Thrill-Seekers
Knott’s Berry Farm, located in Buena Park, seamlessly blends the charm of its historic past with heart-pounding modern attractions, making it a must-visit during your family vacation in California.
Ghost Town is a step back into the Wild West, complete with cowboys, a steam train, and an old schoolhouse. Every nook and cranny tells tales of yesteryears. For those seeking a dose of adrenaline, head over to HangTime, California's first and only dive coaster. This roller coaster simulates a wave about to crash, with a beyond-vertical drop, making it an absolute thrill.
But if you're traveling with younger kids, don't fret. Camp Snoopy caters specifically to the little adventurers. With over 12 rides, large play areas, and frequent appearances by Snoopy and his pals, it’s a delightful world of its own.
6. Six Flags Magic Mountain: For the Adrenaline Junkies
Thrills, chills, and spills: that's what Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia promises. Just north of Los Angeles, it's an adrenaline-packed haven, with some of the fastest, tallest, and wildest rides in the world, perfect for a thrilling family vacation in California.
X2 is a favorite for many. It’s a multi-dimensional coaster that doesn't just go up, down, and around, but spins on its axis, offering an unpredictable journey each time. Then there’s Goliath, a hypercoaster that boasts an impressive 255-foot drop at speeds of up to 85 mph. It's not for the faint of heart but guarantees an unforgettable experience with Dreams Wishes Travel.
For those looking for something a tad less intense, the park offers plenty of family-friendly rides. The Bugs Bunny World, for instance, is a haven for youngsters. With gentle coasters, carousels, and interactive play areas, it ensures everyone, irrespective of age, has a fantastic time.
7. California’s Great America: A Blend of Classic and Modern
Situated in Santa Clara, California’s Great America marries the charm of classic amusement park attractions with the innovations of today, making it a superb destination for your family vacation in California.
Patriot, the park's floorless coaster, provides a unique sensation as you twist, turn, and loop with nothing beneath your feet but the clear California sky. The exhilarating drops and spirals give thrill-seekers exactly what they crave.
For a gentler touch of nostalgia, the Carousel Columbia awaits. As the world’s tallest double-decker carousel, it not only offers delightful rides to a classic tune but also panoramic views of the entire park.
Don't forget to explore Planet Snoopy, dedicated to the younger crowd. Filled with rides themed after the beloved Peanuts characters, it's a world where childhood imagination reigns supreme.

mabel pines -
house: hufflepuff
wand: alder, dragon core, 12 1/2 in, brittle
Alder is an unyielding wood, yet I have discovered that its ideal owner is not stubborn or obstinate, but often helpful, considerate and most likeable. Whereas most wand woods seek similarity in the characters of those they will best serve, alder is unusual in that it seems to desire a nature that is, if not precisely opposite to its own, then certainly of a markedly different type. When an alder wand is happily placed, it becomes a magnificent, loyal helpmate. Of all wand types, alder is best suited to non-verbal spell work, whence comes its reputation for being suitable only for the most advanced witches and wizards.
As a rule, dragon heartstrings produce wands with the most power, and which are capable of the most flamboyant spells. Dragon wands tend to learn more quickly than other types. While they can change allegiance if won from their original master, they always bond strongly with the current owner.
The dragon wand tends to be easiest to turn to the Dark Arts, though it will not incline that way of its own accord. It is also the most prone of the three cores to accidents, being somewhat temperamental.  - garrick ollivander
patronus: orca (uncommon) (obviously i’d pick a unicorn for mabel!)
It’s no mistake that orcas are nicknamed “killer whales.” They are one of the most effective hunters in the ocean. Orcas use teamwork and complex communication skills to hunt and the same cunning to protect their young. With the fierce, calculated protection of an orca on your side, you can rest assured that the Dementors will be no match for you.  - mugglenet
mason “dipper” pines -
house: hufflepuff
wand: elm, unicorn core, 10 in, pliant
The unfounded belief that only pure-bloods can produce magic from elm wands was undoubtedly started by some elm wand owner seeking to prove his own blood credentials, for I have known perfect matches of elm wands who are Muggle-borns. The truth is that elm wands prefer owners with presence, magical dexterity and a certain native dignity. Of all wand woods, elm, in my experience, produces the fewest accidents, the least foolish errors, and the most elegant charms and spells; these are sophisticated wands, capable of highly advanced magic in the right hands (which, again, makes it highly desirable to those who espouse the pure-blood philosophy).
Unicorn hair generally produces the most consistent magic, and is least subject to fluctuations and blockages. Wands with unicorn cores are generally the most difficult to turn to the Dark Arts. They are the most faithful of all wands, and usually remain strongly attached to their first owner, irrespective of whether he or she was an accomplished witch or wizard.
Minor disadvantages of unicorn hair are that they do not make the most powerful wands (although the wand wood may compensate) and that they are prone to melancholy if seriously mishandled, meaning that the hair may ‘die’ and need replacing. - garrick ollivander
patronus: robin  (for dipper i personally would pick something unassuming but secretly tough, so maybe a badger)
A fond favorite of the British public, the robin is an iconic feature of the landscape. These birds are full of song and will sing all year long. Muggles have often been deceived by their cheerful song and their trademark red breast and written them off as a pretty bird. In fact, these warriors will put up one heck of a fight to protect their territory! Lucky for you, once you have cast a robin as your Patronus, the bird will fight for you like it does its nest.  - mugglenet

Pottermore Sortings
Given that the Sorting Hat in the books does take into account the desire of the wizard, I think that the Pottermore quizzes should have a bit more preference input. People often have reasons for what they expect for these items before taking the “official” quizzes. I will admit: I did pull a “cheat” to make sure I got “my” patronus.
Wand Lore
Pine Wood:  The straight-grained pine wand always chooses an independent, individual master who may be perceived as a loner, intriguing and perhaps mysterious. Pine wands enjoy being used creatively, and unlike some others, will adapt unprotestingly to new methods and spells.  Many wandmakers insist that pine wands are able to detect, and perform best for, owners who are destined for long lives, including Garrick Ollivander who had never personally known the master of a pine wand to die young. The pine wand is one of those that are most sensitive to non-verbal magic.
Phoenix Feather Core:  This is the rarest core type. Phoenix feathers are capable of the greatest range of magic, though they may take longer than either unicorn or dragon cores to reveal this. They show the most initiative, sometimes acting of their own accord, a quality that many witches and wizards dislike. Phoenix feather wands are always the pickiest when it comes to potential owners, for the creature from which they are taken is one of the most independent and detached in the world. These wands are the hardest to tame and to personalize, and their allegiance is usually hard won.
Length: Many wandmakers simply match the wand length to the size of the witch or wizard who will use it, but this is a crude measure, and fails to take into account many other, important considerations. Longer wands might suit taller wizards, but they tend to be drawn to bigger personalities, and those of a more spacious and dramatic style of magic. Neater wands favour more elegant and refined spell-casting. However, no single aspect of wand composition should be considered in isolation of all the others, and the type of wood, the core and the flexibility may either counterbalance or enhance the attributes of the wand’s length. Most wands will be in the range of between nine and fourteen inches.
Unyielding Flexibility: Wand flexibility or rigidity denotes the degree of adaptability and willingness to change possessed by the wand-and-owner pair — although, again, this factor ought not to be considered separately from the wand wood, core and length, nor of the owner’s life experience and style of magic, all of which will combine to make the wand in question unique
Patronus
Orca:  Orca people tend to be Sensitive and powerful as well as thoughtful. Orca medicine teaches excellence in leadership teamwork and communication. The orca is also a symbol of balance health and longetivity and a wild untamed spirit.

HARRY POTTER AU MEME ——————————
Tumblr media
NAME: Leonette Fossoway NATIONALITY: British/French  ETHNICITY: white European  SPECIES: Human BLOOD: half-blood SIGN: Gamini  SPECIAL ABILITIES?: n/a SCHOOL: Hogwarts  HOUSE: Hufflepuff, the hat didn’t even touch her before it bellowed out ‘hufflepuff’  WAND:  Applewood with a unicorn hair core, 11″ flexible
wood- Applewood:
Applewood wands are not made in great numbers. They are powerful and best suited to an owner of HIGH aims and IDEALS, as this wood mixes POORLY with Dark Arts. It is said that the possessor of an apple wand will be WELL_LOVED and long-lived, an assertion supported by the fact that Garrick Ollivander often met customers of great PERSONAL CHARM to find their perfect match in an applewood wand
Core - Unicorn hair
“Unicorn hair can be used in wandmaking; they produce the most CONSISTENT magic, least SUBJECT to fluctuations and blockages, most DIFFICULT to turn to the Dark Arts and the most FAITHFUL of wands. However, they do not make the most powerful of wands and are PRONE to melancholy if mishandled.”
FAMILIAR: n/a
PATRONUS: The orca
“Orcas have big HEARTS, and those who express this animal are often incredibly GIVING in their mindset. Despite this, they are not very social creatures, in fact, they are very shy, and not ones to like large crowds. They like to express themselves and how beautiful they truly are around SPECIFIC individuals, and them only.. These people are often very ATTACHED to their families, especially parents or older siblings. They have a large array of emotions that they have EXTREME difficulty showing to anyone. The most common house for an orca patronus is Hufflepuff. The most common signs are Pisces and Cancer.”
Animagus?: N/A
Quidditch?: She doesn’t play herself, however, she’s a fan and likes to support her house.
BEST 3 CLASSES: , Herbology, care of magical creatures, charms WORST 3 CLASSES:   Defence Against the Dark Arts, Potions, Study of Ancient Runes
Extra-curricular subjects?: Charms club, she’d possibly be the hufflepuff perfect at some point and she’d be in some form of orchestra

This guide gives you the full rundown of what to see and do…

Where Is Orlando?
Orlando is a city in Florida, USA., the heart of the Orlando metropolitan has a population of over 2 million and still growing.
Orlando is given the moniker “The City Beautiful”, and it is easy to see why. Its official symbol is the equally beautiful fountain at Lake Eola. The city is also called the “Themepark Capital of the World” because of the numerous amusement parks that can be found there.
Being one of the world’s most famous and top tourist sites, Orlando’s well-known attractions form the foundation of the city’s tourism industry. Two of the major attractions in Orlando are Walt Disney World, started by the Walt Disney Company in 1971, and located estimated 21 miles (34 km) southwest of Downtown Orlando in Bay Lake; and the Universal Orlando Resort, which opened in 1999. Most of the most significant attractions are located beside International Drive with one of those being the iconic Orlando Eye.
Orlando is also one of the busiest cities in the USA for conferences and conventions, as the Orange County Convention Center, the second-largest convention facility in the United States, can also be found in Orlando.
The Weather In Orlando
Orlando has a warm climate like much in the south of the United States. There are two basic seasons in Orlando: hot and rainy.
The rainy season lasts from May until late September, and a warm and dry season that lasts from October through April. The city’s warm and humid climate is caused by its low elevation.

Disneyworld – Orlando, Florida’s ultimate bucket list attraction
The very first Disneyland park ever opened still offers a unique variety of thrills and laughs for every generation of Disney lover.
Aside from meeting larger-than-life-sized Mickey and his troupe of friends, for a hundred bucks US you can enjoy dazzling nighttime fireworks displays behind the legendary Cinderella Castle (featured prominently as THE Disney logo), stroll down any of the park’s SIX different ‘lands’ (Adventureland, Fantasyland, Frontierland, Tomorrowland, Main Street and Liberty Square), eat a bunch of Mickey-themed food and be a part of the Disney magic.
It definitely is true when they say that at Disneyworld, everyone is a kid at heart: reminiscing your childhood (or enjoying it as one) will never be simpler.
Our Fav Rides
To know which rides to hop onto first, here are the top 5 you would not want to miss:
Pirates of the  Caribbean
A landmark achievement in theme park storytelling, it is a pitch-perfect attraction with perhaps the coolest theme park ride song ever.
. The burning city scene was so realistic; the Anaheim Fire Department was initially concerned about the ride’s safety. But of course, it is safe.
Little kids might not enjoy this ride, though, as it has mildly frightening images and small splashdowns.
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
It is a contemporary classic Disney theme park attraction that incorporates a breathtaking free fall ride, amazing effects, and a familiar storyline.
The “fourth dimension” sequence, in which the ride vehicles move horizontally through the ride building is just plain incredible.
Star Tours: The Adventure Continues
Launch to a Star Wars galaxy far, far away in this cool, modernized adaptation of one of the first motion simulator rides. The technology behind the attraction, which allows multiple possible story lines, is justly astounding. , which will bring two new attractions and a allegedly surprising level of detail and immersion is set to open in the Studios park in 2019.
Splash Mountain
Disney combines the classic log drop ride to an animatronics-filled dark ride themed to the Uncle Remus characters from “Song of the South.”
You’ll won’t be able to hum “Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah” until after you get back your composure from this thrill ride!
Where Is Disneyworld?

Magic Kingdom Park – open from 9.00 AM to 10.00 PM

Universal Studios
The other famous amusement park is another giant of the entertainment industry, boasting movie franchise-themed attractions for Harry Potter, Jurassic Park, Transformers, Minions (Despicable Me by extension), E.T. and many more.
Universal Studios Orlando, Florida
You could take a tour bus to explore the whole park, eat thematic food, go space bowling, as well as engage in such mundane, everyday activities as hanging out with Velociraptors, getting your own magic wand at Ollivander’s.
Or you could listen to Bob Marley’s music, watch Animal Actors, reading along with The Cat in the Hat, fidget with Men in Black style architecture or meet the Simpsons… the place has got it all.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter
Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey
This is not only the best attraction at Universal Orlando, it arguably one of the top theme park rides in North America. When the first Hogwarts simulation experience launched in 2010, its vivid detail and high level of immersion caused the Potter fans’ hearts to soar, and J.K. Rowling proud. The highlight of this attraction is the wild romp which includes a exit through the Hogwarts Castle, an airborne Quidditch match, terrifyingly close encounters with Death Eaters, and more wizarding world experiences.
Revenge of the Mummy
p.p1 margin: 0.0px 0.0px 8.0px 90.0px; font: 11.0px 'Trebuchet MS'; color: #000000; -webkit-text-stroke: #000000 span.s1 font-kerning: none
This mummy ride will definitely have you screaming for your mommy!
Revenge of the Mummy presents a marriage of a dark ride with remarkable computer graphics and special effects and a remarkable, launched roller coaster experience.
Despicable Me Minion Mayhem
Showing the cheeky, jesting humour from the films, Minion Mayhem is both hiarious and irreverent.
It is the third attraction to be offered in the park’s ride in film theatre. With its high-def resolution and appealing story, it is by far the best of the three.

Seaworld
Seaworld Orlando
Some people say that the ocean is as mysterious and incomprehensible to humankind as outerspace itself; you never know what secrets are yet to be uncovered in the vastness of the depths, what incredible sights and creatures we are yet to uncover.
If you’re more of a nature and water lover, Seaworld offers the curious visitor a taste of what we DO know, and then some. Check out vast underwater tunnels while sharks and manta rays swim overhead, see vibrant corals and billowing kaleidoscopes of exotic fish, watch orcas and dolphins do unbelievably intelligent tricks, and even feed penguins in polar-themed exhibits.
Then there are the rides..

The Epcot Center
The Epcot Center
Disney Epcot Center is one of 4 theme parks at Walt Disney World Resort that measures around 300 acres.
It is twice the size of Magic Kingdom Park, and is divided into two parts: Future World and World Showcase.
The Future World is a zone dedicated to all things scientific, and it is divided into different subsections such as: agriculture, automotive safety, fossil fuels and geography.
Future World also serves as the center’s main entrance and it showcases the park’s iconic landmark, Spaceship Earth, a large geodesic sphere formation which holds a themed attraction inside.
The current attractions in Future Word include: Spaceship Earth, Innoventions, Mission: Space, Test Track: Presented by Chevrolet, The Seas with Nemo & Friends (Turtle Talk with Crush), The Land (Soarin’ and Living with the Land: Presented by Chiquita), Imagination! (Journey into Imagination with Figment), and Festival Center (Seasonal operation) (formerly Wonders of Life).
The second zone is the WORLD’S SHOWCASE.
This part will allow you and your family the chance to travel around the world and stop in friendly countries:United States of America, Japan, Morocco, France, United Kingdom, Canada, Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, and Italy.
Circling a 40-acre lake, the 1.3 mile stroll will take you to eleven national pavilions which are filled with native entertainment, food and merchandise, brimming with each county’s culture.
If you are going to Epcot this video is a must watch as it really does share some great tips from rope drop to where to watch the fireworks from (and everything in between).

Gatorland Orlando
Gatorland Orlando, Florida
Aside from the amusement parks, what makes Florida so unique amongst all of the USA’s 50 states would be the Everglades, a vast swampy region which serves as home to countless species of flora and fauna found nowhere else on Earth.
Of course, this natural habitat is home to the American Alligator, a large and rather dangerous creature in its natural habitat, so it is best to leave Mother Nature undisturbed and head out to Gatorland Orlando, where you can see these humungous reptiles in action from behind the safety of the stands.
If you’re really raring for a taste of the life-threatening, head to the zipline, where you’ll zoom across alligator infested waters. Definitely NOT for the faint of heart!
Prices and opening hours – Open 10am to 6pm from the 26Th of May

Orlando Magic
Orlando Magic
Aside from the theme parks and attractions that Orlando, Florida houses, it has also become a household name because of the NBA team Orlando Magic. The Magic started in 1987 when NBA granted them franchise, along withCharlotte Hornets, Miami Heat and Minnesota Timberwolves.
However, they had two wait until two years after before being given the chance to play on the hard court. The very first game they played was on October 13, 1989 against the then champions Detroit Pistons, which The Magic won. Even though they won a lot of other games after that, history changed when The Magic picked their first star player—yep, you guessed it, the big man Shaquille O’Neal.
Orlando Magic – Dwight Howard

More things to do in Orlando…
You could say that Florida is the golf capital of the world with over 1,250 courses (just don’t tell Scotland). If you are staying in or around Orlando you will find just under 100 courses to choose from.
Here are six of the top golf courses in the area.
Arnold Palmer’s Bay Hill Club and Lounge
Bay Hill Club’s famous 17th hole
The Bay Hill Club and Lounge used to be the late Arnold Palmer’s headquarters. Hence, it follows that this course is as lavish and luxurious as his lifestyle was.
The United States PGA Tour for Arnold Palmer Invitational is held here annually, and the players compete against each other on this three nine-looped course. Bay Hill’s rippled terrain adds favourable elevation changes to many of the holes, which is a bit uncommon for Floridian golf courses.
The tranquil ponds, albeit beautiful, pose a threat at the risk-reward par-5 16th, par-3 17th, and superb par-4 18th. These brilliantly crafter holes provide challenge from the novice golfer to the pro players.
9000 Bay Hill Blvd, Orlando, FL 32819, USA
+1 407-876-2429
Pricing: $275, golf cart included
Orange County National
Panther Lake
Orange County National or Panther Lake Course is one of Orlando, Florida’s golfing gems.
It boasts of two first-rate Championship courses (Panther Lake and Crooked Cat) and an excellent practice facility. This tough and visually appealing course has plenty of water in the form of lakes and ponds.
The landscape of the Panther Lake course was designed to provide a hilly feel.
16301 Phil Ritson Way, Winter Garden, FL 34787, USA
+1 407-656-2626
Pricing: Monday – Wednesday: $135; Thursday/Sunday: $145; Friday/Saturday: $155,
golf cart included
Reunion Golf and Spa Resort
Tradition course
The Reunion Resort has three excellent layouts, with the Jack Niklaus designed Tradition course being the best of the three.
The two other courses, The Legacy and The Independence, have more distinct elevation shifts, but The Tradition is characterized by softer undulations. It also has its own clubhouse, so it’s definitely the top choice.
Among many very expertly crafted holes, the par-4 14 is a masterpiece. It has an elevated tee, vast sandy waste area, and waters along the green field, so it is as stunning as it is challenging.
The Tradition course, inarguably, is one of Jack Niklaus’ design legacies.
7593 Gathering Dr, Kissimmee, FL 34747, USA

Waldorf Astoria Golf Club
Waldorf Astoria Golf Club
Waldorf Astoria Golf Club is close to Walt Disney World’s Caribbean Beach Resort.
This golf club is a newcomer, but it has handsomely made its way to the top golf course list because of the expert design by Reese Jones. It boasts of many challenges adorned with hazardous but stunning waters, and fancy bunkering.

Champions Gate Golf
ChampionsGate golf, Orlando
The magnificently crafted setting of the ChampionsGate Golf Club is home to two equally superb gold courses: National and International.
This course has an authentic British feel to it. Unlike many British links layout, though, the ChampionsGate Golf Club has a vast expanse of water around many of the holes.
The par-5 3 resembles the par-5 14 at England’s Royal St. Saint George’s.

Update:
Today, several months later, my dog walk took me past a charity shop and as luck would have it
Tumblr media
Anyway thank you for indulging my silly neurodivergent rant about orca plushies and their various gender identities.

logan barry bush -
house: slytherin
wand: rowan, dragon core, 13 in, reasonably supple
Rowan wood has always been much-favoured for wands, because it is reputed to be more protective than any other, and in my experience renders all manner of defensive charms especially strong and difficult to break. It is commonly stated that no dark witch or wizard ever owned a rowan wand, and I cannot recall a single instance where one of my own rowan wands has gone on to do evil in the world. Rowan is most happily placed with the clear-headed and the pure-hearted, but this reputation for virtue ought not to fool anyone – these wands are the equal of any, often the better, and frequently out-perform others in duels.
- garrick ollivander
patronus: sphynx cat (his reaction to summoning this would be priceless)
Sphynxes will be your best friend. They will greet you at the door and follow you around the house, seeking pets, pats, and general affection. They are highly intelligent and energetic, loving to play! Have a Sphynx protect you and watch the Dementor flee before these incredible hairless cats!  - mugglenet
millie frock -
house: slytherin
wand: alder, dragon core, 11 1/2 in, quite bendy
- garrick ollivander
patronus: ragdoll cat (ha!  i’d pick a starling because they’re such gifted mimics)
Ragdolls are one of the sweetest cats ever. They are so cuddly and want to be with you all the time. They will follow you around the house, playing gently with your shoestrings, charming everyone with their gentle and sweet personalities. While they may not be the most protective of cats, they will fill you with joy and happiness.  - mugglenet
If this is your patronus you are playful and smart. You’re affectionate to those you care for and playful in nature.
Fiercely intelligent, you know your own mind. Although you’re never impolite and always well mannered.
If the Ragdoll cat is your patronus you are carefree and fun loving.
This patronus is most common in Ravenclaw but is found in the other houses.  - patronusmeaning.tumblr.com
courtney wheeler -
house: ravenclaw (i’m as surprised as you are; very close with slytherin though; and she IS creative)
wand: cedar, dragon core, 11 3/4 in, quite bendy
Whenever I meet one who carries a cedar wand, I find strength of character and unusual loyalty. My father, Gervaise Ollivander, used always to say, ‘you will never fool the cedar carrier,’ and I agree: the cedar wand finds its perfect home where there is perspicacity and perception. I would go further than my father, however, in saying that I have never yet met the owner of a cedar wand whom I would care to cross, especially if harm is done to those of whom they are fond. The witch or wizard who is well-matched with cedar carries the potential to be a frightening adversary, which often comes as a shock to those who have thoughtlessly challenged them.
- garrick ollivander
patronus: orca (unusual) (seems fitting)
It’s no mistake that orcas are nicknamed “killer whales.” They are one of the most effective hunters in the ocean. Orcas use teamwork and complex communication skills to hunt and the same cunning to protect their young. hank hill:
house: gryffindor
wand: fir, dragon core, 11 1/4 in, reasonably supple
My august grandfather, Gerbold Octavius Ollivander, always called wands of this wood ‘the survivor’s wand’, because he had sold it to three wizards who subsequently passed through mortal peril unscathed. There is no doubt that this wood, coming as it does from the most resilient of trees, produces wands that demand staying power and strength of purpose in their true owners, and that they are poor tools in the hands of the changeable and indecisive. Fir wands are particularly suited to Transfiguration, and favour owners of focused, strong-minded and, occasionally, intimidating demeanour.
- garrick ollivander
patronus: st. bernard (so close to being a bloodhound, but so far, dangit)
Despite its large and intimidating size, the St. Bernard is known to be kind, loving, and gentle. Great with families and very loyal, the St. Bernard will always be by your side. They are quick to protect family members who may be in danger and often act as a guardian for those around them. Strong and powerful due to their size, the St. Bernard will fight off Dementors and stand by you, come what may.  - mugglenet
obviously i would have said bloodhound:

peggy hill:
house: slytherin (though she obviously thinks she should be in ravenclaw :P )
wand:  chestnut, dragon core, 11 1/2 in, hard
This is a most curious, multi-faceted wood, which varies greatly in its character depending on the wand core, and takes a great deal of colour from the personality that possesses it. The wand of chestnut is attracted to witches and wizards who are skilled tamers of magical beasts, those who possess great gifts in Herbology, and those who are natural fliers. However, when paired with dragon heartstring, it may find its best match among those who are overfond of luxury and material things, and less scrupulous than they should be about how they are obtained. Conversely, three successive heads of the Wizengamot have possessed chestnut and unicorn wands, for this combination shows a predilection for those concerned with all manner of justice.

patronus: orca (and boy would she never stop bragging about having an unusual one)
It’s no mistake that orcas are nicknamed “killer whales.” They are one of the most effective hunters in the ocean. Orcas use teamwork and complex communication skills to hunt and the same cunning to protect their young. i would’ve said mink, though:

luanne platter:
house: hufflepuff
wand: english oak, phoenix core, 13 3/4 in, slightly yielding
A wand for good times and bad, this is a friend as loyal as the wizard who deserves it. Wands of English oak demand partners of strength, courage and fidelity. Less well-known is the propensity for owners of English oak wands to have powerful intuition, and, often, an affinity with the magic of the natural world, with the creatures and plants that are necessary to wizardkind for both magic and pleasure. The oak tree is called King of the Forest from the winter solstice up until the summer solstice, and its wood should only be collected during that time (holly becomes King as the days begin to shorten again, and so holly should only be gathered as the year wanes. This divide is believed to be the origin of the old superstition, ‘When his wand’s oak and hers is holly, then to marry would be folly,’ a superstition that I have found baseless). It is said that Merlin’s wand was of English oak (though his grave has never been found, so this cannot be proven).
This is the rarest core type.
These wands are the hardest to tame and to personalise, and their allegiance is usually hard won.  - garrick ollivander
patronus: dolphin (thank god this wasn’t hank’s!)
Intelligence and sociability are among the main attributes of the dolphin. Also known for their playfulness and loyalty, dolphins live and work together in groups to aid the sick and injured and to defend each other from predators. Its incredible intelligence is put to good use in the form of solving complex problems and other such challenges. The dolphin does not enjoy dull, routine activities, so keeping busy with interesting tasks is a must!  - mugglenet
