I'm currently listening to the Ojamajo Doremi 16 CD Dramas on YouTube. The audio track is in Japanese but I don't care. I'm only just listening to the voices.

And it got thinking: IF they ever make an anime adaptation of the light novels, I hope they don't recast the main cast. I really want the original voice actresses to get a chance to reprise their roles.

Hana, tired of always being taken away from her mamas, decides she’s done being nice, she uses magic to turn into an adult and goes to the human world to make sure her mamas never forget her

meanwhile Majorika is send back to the human world by the witch queen to gather the ojamajos and stop Hana from causing chaos and disorder in the human world

(The series is canon to this au (including Na-i-Sho) but the light novels aren’t, as this is a different route)

An all-new animation of Ojamajo Doremi 16-20s done to the original opening song debuted at AnimeJapan2024.

The project, which will celebrate both younger and older Doremi and her friends, might be a tv series, might be a web series, and might be a film. It hasn't been decided yet!

Ojamajo doremi 16-20 Promo video, 25th anniversary

A new animated project have been announced

For the "Ojamajo Doremi 25th Anniversary" presentation at Anime Japan 2024, a special animated video was released, showing the girls alongside their grown-up selves from the light novel sequels, set to "Ojamajo Carnival," the first opening theme. Appropriately, the video is titled #OjamajoDoremi1620s, based off the light novels which were titled 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20s based on their ages.

The video was posted on Toei's YouTube channel.

At the physical presentation, the voice actresses of the main five girls appeared, as well as Producer Hiromi Seki, who stated that, currently, they haven't decided whether the 1620s project will be a TV anime, a movie, or some other form of distribution (ex. web anime), and that they'll think about it based on the level of reaction to the video.

What tends to be the average age where magical girls first meet the mascot that gives them the offer of being one?

We see shows like Sailor Moon where the main characters are in high school, while many others like Puella bring up the offer when they’re in middle school. Does it tend to just fall in that 12-18 range, or are there some outliers that we don’t see as much like- hypothetically- someone who’s already in college or has an office job suddenly being asked to be a magical girl?

The girls from PMMM and the Inner Senshi are actually the same age! Usagi becomes Sailor Moon when she's 14 and in 8th grade, just like Madoka. However, because the story of Sailor Moon takes place over a couple of years, Usagi is 16 and in 10th grade at the end.

Anyway, at least with the shows I've seen, magical girls tend to fall into the 13-16 age range. There are some outliers; for example, the girls in Ojamajo Doremi start the series being 8 years old and end the series being 12.

Also, the concept of older magical girls who don't become magical girls until adulthood is a really cool concept, but I don't think it's very common. Most adult magical girls I've seen are veterans who became magical girls when they were younger.

Oh, I understand what Ojamajo Doremi 1620's is now.

So back in 2011 they started making a series of Light Novels as a sequel to the show covering the lives of the girls between the ages of 16 and 20; and after a lot of back and forth they decided to adapt them as a show and the music video is a preview (I hopped it was, I really like the original and this one is hella cute)
