Premam

最近気になっているのは Premam (2015 Malayalam) のサーイー・パッラヴィ Sai Pallavi と ニヴィン・ポウリ Nivin Pauly だ。

サーイー・パッラヴィは母親がカッタク流の舞踊家で、本人は専門的修行はしなかったが学生ダンサー、コンテスト・ダンサーとして舞台を踏んできた。それに加えて医学部卒業、ニキビ顔、少数部族 Badagas 出身、ノーメイクで櫛けずることもしないなどあらゆる点で型破りな存在だ。演技は自然でいつも目が輝いている。しかも踊りが上手いのであっというまにスターになった。その非伝統性が、西洋的美人とモデル体型好きな観客にいつまで受けいれられるかはわからないが。

ニヴィン・ポウリも、インド映画ではいままでいなかったタイプの好漢に思える。ヒゲがないと若いメル・ギブソン似、あごヒゲがあるといかにもふつうのいい人に見える。ただ Premam 後半では手作りケーキを出す高級カフェの口ヒゲオーナーとなり、わかりみが深そうであまり近づきたくなくなる。 Nazriya Nazim と共演した Ohm Shanti Oshana (2014) も、出番は少ないが印象に残った。

Sunday Speculative Post: Raabta Inspired Me! What Other Southern Films Could Be Not-Really-Remade

How could remakes of #Manam with @iamsrk and #OhmShantiOshaana with @aliaa08 work?

I don’t want to say that Raabta is better than Magadheera, or even as good.  But it is a very clever reimagining which takes the same story but replace the from the southern industry (comedy scenes, action scenes, stalking romance) with the strengths of the Hindi industry (clever dialogue, cutting edge international setting, slightly more complicated characters).  So, what other southern films…

Wow!! that IS a coincidence. Actually, these are some of the few Malayalam movies I have watched. By the way, Nivin in which movie did you like the most?

@poomohan: I’ve seen quite a few movies of Nivin’s, and though I enjoyed most of them, I think my absolute favt one has to be Action Hero Biju. 😊😊😊

But for sheeeeer unparalleled Nivin hotnesssss, the first half of Ohm Shanti Oshaana cannot be beat! 😍😍😍

Watched Ohm Shanti Oshana last night because I was missing Nivin's face

OMFG ITS OFFICIALLY A FAVORITE MOVIE?!?!? I LOVE IT SAKFHKDGF

Pooja's character was soooo relatable with the whole manly girl thats not quite girl/boy and the parents having accepted that THATS MEEEEE
