Just had the realization about this

I have a theory!!! We see only FRANK and EDDIE are the ones realizing everything happening in Welcome Home and then we see FRANK with one of EDDIE’S letters! In the staff only we see the same Frank drawing but Wally or Home possessing Wally write ‘Who are you?’ Underneath!! I had to stop drawing to process this but maybe Eddie and Frank are telling each other stuff they see??? We see at the end of the commercial video that FRANK notices that EDDIE is panicking about Home while sitting where the heart of Home is heard, he is realizing what Home’s motives are now alongside Frank and I CANT WAIT for the next update 🤯

Are there any nods, secrets, or easter eggs in your story that you don’t think people caught??

Y'all continuously surprise me with what you're able to pick up on, but here are just a few that I'm not totally sure people noticed.

Donnie's death was foreshadowed since chapter one

I literally put Tony Hawk in chapter twelve (and fourteen) and I haven't seen a single person comment on it. I was running out of ideas for Yokai, okay?

Besso the bear bellhop from chapter five is based off of an NPC @drsmer made when they DM'ed a rescent DnD campaign. The real Besso is a very sweet, mild mannered bear who one day gained sentience and now has to pay taxes.

The "Jack the Rabbit" book that haunts Donnie's conscience is from Ninjago.

The dragon Mordica's name is an inside joke between me and @bubbles-and-puddles based on a typo someone made in Sunday School spelling the word Mordecai as Mordecal.

This moment in chapter fifteen has two easter eggs. Scythes because, you know, Donnie just died. And Leo quoted the Krang.

During the flashbacks in chapter sixteen, I snuck in a reference to one of my favorite Rise fics of all time, Error 404 (if anyone knows the fic or knows the author, please tag them to give them credit)

And of course this shameless Like Father Like Son easter egg that I think everyone probably saw coming

I've said this before, but Donnie and Leo's cells were right next to each other. They both thought they were hallucinating but they could hear everything.

I saw my chance to say @purplepixel in the fic so I did.

I feel like there are probably more? These are just a few of them that I slipped in. I know I at least THOUGHT about putting a Hide and Seek by @phoebepheebsphibs reference in there at one point, but I don't know where it would be.

Next chapter I had to name the physical therapist, so I named her Dr. Fib after @daboyau (hope that's okay with you, nervous laugh)

Naava, my beloved Bracken finally got a new design and a proper reference. Details below!

The fluff on Naava isn't actually fur, it's moss. More specifically beard moss. It has the functions that its original counterpart does though it's evolved to survive the harsh conditions of Rend a lot better. The cleaner the Moon's air, the more moss grows on them. And the more radiation is around, the brighter their leaves grow. The leaves have evolved to get energy from radiation instead of sunlight and quickly start to wither if none is available. The subspecies Naava is a part of is used as an indicator species because of the clear visual elements that give you information about the environment. Although the information itself is valuable, for example with figuring out if there are Coilheads in the building or if the apparatus might be nearby-- it's not as easy to spot them. Naava functions a lot like a regular Bracken, sneaking and hunting employees and trying their best not to be seen. It can make it difficult to pay attention to the information it can give, but most keen eyes can surely take note of it if they're fast enough to catch a glimpse of them. They are highly aggressive towards humans, but very much the opposite towards other creatures. They have a big heart and want to help those that are weaker than it and in a position where they wouldn't otherwise survive. Despite Naava's aggression, it has shown mercy towards humans a couple of times as it sees it unfair to hunt something that is already injured or in a bad position. That won't stop them from hunting when they need to and punishing rowdy scavengers who think they can do whatever they want in the facility. Despite their gentle nature, they are a creature that is born to hunt and kill. And they do their job well, protecting those it cares for with all of its might. When not on the hunt, it likes to keep company to the other creatures and often joins Copycat on treasure hunts. There are a fair amount of items and bones it has collected in its favorite room and keeps them all neatly organized. Just like Copycat, Naava will immediately get aggressive despite the state you are in if you touch their items. They are precious to them and they will not hesitate to get them back from you. They are also always the first one to arrive when Copycat wails, only followed by Conductor who wants to make a good impression on the Bracken by helping the little Masked. Naava finds Conductor's advances amusing but doesn't pay it much mind. This makes the Nutcracker more determined though and it hasn't stopped following Naava around and helping them with anything they need. They don't mind it, as it means there will be more watchful eyes on their dear Masked friend to keep him safe.

Tommy and Shroud my beloved

NOW IMAGINE TOMMY AND SHROUD. Tommy, body scarred by explosions and a gaze hardened by war and death, holding Shroud's small hand, whose so young and easily bruised.

Maybe Tommy is more mature in this scene or he's as young as the time he first met Shroud. Maybe Shroud witnessed Tommy's encounter with Niki or Jack or anyone who just can't interact with him without a glare in the conversation. Maybe Tommy's hold on Shroud's hand tightened at the mention of those people.

Maybe they're in his office when Shroud asked, speaking of an encounter Tommy thought Shroud forgot. Tommy's lips pulled into a thin line, his fist clenching and unclenching as his mind scrolls through the words he could say. How can he explain to his son that he is, in fact, technically a war criminal? How can he tell him that his dad was a bad man who've done bad things to good people? How can he possibly say that Tommyinnit was a Big Man who have yet to fully be punished for his crimes. He says nothing.

Instead, he walks to his son and asked him to go to bed.

you being a source of genuine affection for Ajax... when he returns from the Abyss, he's clearly changed, and no one but his family wants to be near him. no one but his family- and you. all the other children your age fear his newfound violent tendencies and stay as far away as possible, but you have no shame in jumping on him in a hug, swinging your hands back and forth together, or ruffling his hair, your innocent childhood combined with your protective nature. and Ajax, oh, he craves the small things you do for him, the wonderfully casual way you spend time with him instead of walking on eggshells like everyone else. whenever you squeeze him or playfully pat his head, he feels safe, like his fall into the Abyss never happened, and he can almost believe it if it wasn't for the creature chittering ecstatically in his mind- Foul Legacy's not used to even the slightest bit of affection, and it overwhelms him at first as he falls for you as much as Ajax has

when Ajax gets sent to the Fatui, he eventually grows accustomed to the lack of contact, the way his coworkers either regard him with fear or distaste. when he returns to you and experiences your affections again, now wholeheartedly love, he feels like he's melting into your arms and nearly cries. Foul Legacy's not used to being protected- in the Abyss, life is ruthless and cold- and furthermore he doesn't really need to be protected, but when you look up at him with a slight frown and tell him that he's worth being protected, no matter what, he almost breaks right then and there. the sensation of you holding him, an Abyssal monster who only escaped by latching himself to a mortal, like he's something precious makes him tremble with emotion- so many emotions he's never felt before- and he allows himself to indulge and lean into your touch, the same soft pets you give Ajax. eventually Foul Legacy lapses into slumber and vanishes, leaving a tired, teary Ajax in your arms, who pulls you close into a tight hug, begging for just a moment longer
