Perhaps not her favorite zone but one she found herself at frequently. She gets lost in thought, hard to draw back out, as she sits frozen like the wave of light before her. Expression awestruck grief as she marvels at her beloved's last act. One last shot:

Odette doesn't share the parental relationship with Ryne that Thancred does, but it's not quiet sisterly either. It is, however, strictly platonic. Like him, however, Odette doesn't really start healing from Minfilia's loss until the events of Shadowbringers.

Thinking more thoughts about WOL!Odette...

Specifically how she's a young, naïve nun who is crafted into a god killer by a woman who loves her and who she loves in turn. How Odette had been told her whole life in the convent that she was destined to be a saint. Of course she would be 'The' Warrior of Light, of course she's Hydaelyn's chosen, of course she and Minfilia fall in love. How this means she never questions the Scion's motives or care for her. She and Minfilia work so well because they understand their roles perfectly. Not always happily but they are both women of deep faith. Faith in Menphina, faith in Hydaelyn, faith in their comrades, faith in each other. They work so well because neither can place the other and their own happiness in front of their duty, their faith. That total understanding must be so freeing for them, to be able to love as fully as they can and knowing it's enough for their partner. Odette spends most of Heavensward with a knot of grief for a heart. She tries so hard not to borrow grief from the future but it is hard not to when they just don't know about Minfilia for so long. But there is so much going on in Heavensward and without Minfilia to consistently come back to I think she's very adrift. More than ever, this expansion is when she is most like a silent protagonist. I can't even touch that scene at the end of Heavenswards. You know the one. I did already talk about Minfilia in Shadowbringers...

Thinking about WoL!Odette and how she found her north star so quickly in Minfilia and true she lost the woman but you can't take loved away and the compass still works.

Loving Minfilia, and being loved by her, gave WoL!Odette much needed confidence and peace as she fought fearfully through primals and political plots that she, a 21 year old nun, had no business being part of. A soft place to land, as it were. The intertwining of sun rays and moonbeams.

Some ramblings about Odette's WoL AU:

I think, for her and Minfilia, it was love at first. An instant understanding of one another via the echo and the ability to sense the same thread of hunger in each other. It's a lot of intense staring and lingering at doorways and nearly saying something only to have the moment pass or broken by someone interrupting. Until that first primal.

That fight, fittingly, starts Odette to burning.

It's the nun that initiates the relationship. After the debriefing, lingering until the others have left and then turning back to face Minfilia and then she sees it: at the edge of her vision when she turns.

A single.

A simple.

A thin.

Red.

String.

Strung between them.

It's gone as quick as it is spotted and put from Odette's mind: she's about something else, right now.

Also sun/moon sapphics always have my heart, I am a simple creature.

Minfilia is the sun, ofc. The face and leader of the scions. Odette is simply the tool she wields to do the work. Minfilia is the heart and spark of hope the star needs. Odette merely reflects her light. And perhaps to the outsider it is Odette who is the face, the hope but those who Know... Know.

Here comes Minfilia and her pale shadow once more.

And a moon without her sun is a sad sight, true, but she still pulls the tides, no?
