Odelie Mai was the only daughter and the second child of the royal couple born in 1050. Being a princess she was raised very strictly and encouraged to partake in many differ hobbies, some of her favorites of which included astronomy and philosophy. Being the second child and a daughter there wasn’t much expectations placed on her originally until her father spotted her intelligence and talent. Her older brother Alistaire was not as academically gift so Mai quickly became her father’s favorite. She reveled in his favoritism but tried her best not to alienate her elder brother. They both enjoyed pretty equal treatment by their mother who was very happy to have children and a family.

As the siblings got older the favoritism got worse and her brother and father would argue over it constantly. Mai tried to keep her head down in these years and focused severely on school. It came to a head when her brother announced that he wouldnt be going to any higher education, which really pissed off their father who wanted to disinherit him right there. Noemie convinced her husband to calm his anger but the relationship between father and son deteriorated, and Mai was blamed for this by her brother. When she eventually went to Miletus, she left to live on campus while doing so and met Merielle a royal from Glimmerier who was her roommate. Not only did they kick it off but Mai increasingly fell in love with Meri, and Meri felt the same. The pair after Meri’s graduation travelled to Glimmerier, Mai under the alias of the Comtesse of Larguite to get married. When discovered by her father the marriage was deemed illegitimate due to the alias, and Mai was sent back to Idealps.

She married Lord Kenichi Minawara in 1071, a man who she despised. The pair lived apart most of their relationship both in love with other people. In 1072 during a coronation dinner, Mai’s brother Alistaire ran away. Not only was this a great embarrassment for the royal family, but especially her brother’s wife, whom Mai became close friends with. Since their father had signed a document already abdicating, Mai was chosen to govern until hopefully her brother returned, however as she lost the desire to rule most powers were given to Camilla. Due to the difficult situation Mai was forced to potentially reconcile with her husband in the case that her brother didn’t come back before their father’s death, in which case she’d become Queen officially.

The current royal family is comprised of King Alistaire the 67th, his wife Queen Noemie and their two children Alistaire the Crown Prince, as well as their daughter Odelie Mai.

The King and the Queen have a very rocky relationship. Where she adores him and their family unit, he does anything to avoid her. Unfortunately not super uncommon to have an unhappy relationship in Idealps. Despite having been officially married at 18 (due to the necessity for an heir), they didnt have their first son until their early thirties. The King is grumpy and unsociable, whereas the queen is his opposite in every way. She gives money to charity and spends an abundant amount of time with their children.

Speaking of the children there is the Crown Prince and the Princess Royale. The Crown Prince much to everyone’s dismay is a trouble maker with no are for education. He would be the favorite of his mother who encourages his likes. On the other hand the Princess Royale, is a top student, orderly and perfect. She is the favorite of her father, who wishes he could legally leave the kingdom to her. She has a close relationship with her mother as well, who uncharacteristically was super involved in her children’s upbringing. The Crown Prince is engaged to marry Lady Camilla-Pomona, whilst the Princess Royale is engaged to Lord Kenichi Minawara (who belongs to @irrelevant-subjects.)
