Top 5 Tuesday topics: October-December 2024
Hello friends!! Welcome to the Top 5 Tuesday topics post: October-December 2024!!
Ahh, our wrap up posts for 2024 are imminent!! And you know what, I’m a little bit excited about it. The November and December topics are always my favourites, every year. I think what I love is partially the part where I don’t need to make up topics… But I also love wrapping up the year of reading.
If YOU would…

I figured I share the short character bios on the back of the action figure boxes, though I couldn't find Knuckles and Robotnik:
"Sonic is on a roll, saved the world twice (but who's counting?) and has two besties for his team. But will they be enough to handle a devastating new threat?"
"Tails is Sonic's best bud, using his brains, tons of gadgets, and, of course, his two tails -- he will do everything he can for his friends."
"Shadow is a fierce and mysterious foe who is determined to accomplish his goals and won't let anything stand in his way!"
Oh wow! These are great characters bios! Thank you for sharing, my dear! Lucky for you, I’ve found the character bio for Dr. Robotnik:
“Ivo Robotnik proved that you can’t keep an evil genius down for long and sets his sights on world domination. No big deal!”
I’m having some trouble finding Knuckles, but I think that we’ll get a good idea around September.

At the request of @ohwhatamidoinghere , pictures of the indoor plastic greenhouses I got for my orchids. Yes, they cost some money. A final payment from a travel company I had been doing work for helped me decide to spring for the big one a couple weeks ago. They’re both made by a company in Kyiv, Ukraine (who make other models too) and arrive as kits. The big one took some time and work to put together and figure out but you can set the humidity and the day length you want and even set the fans to run for a certain number of minutes per hour. I’m thinking of moving the orchids closer together to free up a shelf for growing lettuce all winter. We’ll see.

This bridge ends up being sung by Carly Holt, your bandmate Adam Hann’s wife. How did that come to be?
I think the whimsy and the naïveté in that song come from the fact that it was going to be a Drive Like I Do song. I wasn't thinking about the profundity of it, or I wasn't thinking about fitting it into a record. I was just thinking about it being quite pure and blissful. Just practically, what happened was that I didn't like that bridge. I wrote a bunch of different bridges.
Michelle from Japanese Breakfast had sung on 'Part of the Band', and I remembered that moment of — I've done it a few times, but sometimes one of the revelations is, Maybe it's just the voice; it's not the part. So when Carly sang it, it was like, Okay, yeah, the part's great — just I shouldn't have been singing that. What we didn't want to do is have a feature. We hadn't really done a feature before in a 1975 album because I think that would take — well, Phoebe pops up on one of our records, but me and Phoebe kind of orbit each other: She's in our music video; I turn up and I open up for her shows. So that felt real. What wouldn’t feel real is if Bad Bunny turned up on track ten or something. We wanted to keep it in the family.

i’m so done with this shit. i don’t want to get political but
why do people (namely in the sp community) insist on censoring israel and not palestine? like here’s the deal. i support the free palestine movements. i acknowledge everything that is going on in palestine
but you also have to acknowledge october 7th. you have to acknowledge what went down in its entirety. yes. i support free palestine. but here’s how it’s gonna be for me. if you wanna talk to me about not wanting matt and trey to make an episode revolving around israel and palestine, you either censor one or censor neither. i would be saying the same exact thing if people were censoring palestine and not israel. i don’t care if you ‘don’t want the pro israel people to find my post’, i don’t want either side to find my posts. i’m not fully educated on the issue and i don’t feel like getting into political discourse.
so that’s my rule. if you wanna send an ask in, you either censor both of you censor none. and yes. i get that this doesn’t directly affect me since i don’t belong to either religious/ethnic group. but it does affect people of those groups when you turn an entire group into what you view those involved in the war is. it may not affect me but it affects others. and i don’t stand with that. i don’t care which side you take in this conflict but i am not into the discourse that’s been going on in my inbox. i’m not fucking dealing with it. if it has the potential to hurt someone it’s not going on my blog and it will be deleted. i don’t care.
anyway. end of story. either censor both or neither. up to you. or don’t engage at all.

Werewolf Aesthetic
The full moon.
Jewellery and ornaments made of claws, fangs and antlers.
Flannel shirts and jeans with … curious tears and reddish brown stains.
Rainswept pine forests where the clustering needles almost blot out the light.
Sheep and deer disembowelled on the side of the road.
Waking up in cold sweat to the echo of a howl while the full moon lights up your room.
Bracken moors so blanketed in mist you can't find your way around despite it being blanketed in mist.
Old-growth trees bearded with moss with curving clawed branches.
Silver bullets (of course).
Wolfman paintings on stones and carvings on the walls of houses.
Abandoned cabins (if US)/cottages (if UK) with lots of large bones and a skull or two.
Fearful locals who don't go out after dark.
Abnormally large dogs who lie in the street like they own the place or pace around the graveyard.
Flat cloth caps.
Shotguns.
Pawprints all over the ground.
Animal head trophies in the village tavern and the family kitchens.
Abyssal river gorges surrounded by sharp-rocks.
Old-timey lanterns hung on the doors.
Four-horned sheep (yes, they're real).
Claw marks on porches.
Written over DM a couple months ago with @the-hour-of-our-deaths, who is more than a mutual to me (wink wink nudge).
