#MonthOfSpreads2 Day Seventeen: The Intuitive Reading

When I first started learning Tarot, I was stuck trying to use my intuition. For some reason, I just couldn’t find a way to tap into it. Then I was given two pieces of advice from my Tarot mentor that changed everything. The first was to look at the card for a moment and see what drew my attention. After looking I would say what I saw. The second tip was to explain how the images made me feel. From that moment on, once I combined those two tips, my intuition skyrocketed. Today’s spread is called The Intuitive Reading and will help you tap into your intuition using just a keyword and your cards.

Step One: Pick one keyword from the following list:

Blockage, Illusion, Dishonesty, Inspiration, Authenticity, Forgiveness, Security, Changes, Serenity, Your Own Keyword

This will be the subject matter for your reading.

Step Two: Shuffle your deck or mix up your divination tool of choice. How many times and however long is completely up to you.

Step Three: Pull three cards from your deck however you see fit.

Step Four: Interpret the cards intuitively.

Some things to consider:  What messages, symbols, feelings are you getting from these three cards in regards to the keyword you selected?  How are the cards flowing or not flowing together? Are there mostly majors/minors or a dominant suit within the cards? Are there repeating numbers, only odd or even numbers? Is there a dominant color scheme?

* If you are feeling adventurous, you may pull three more cards to add on to the reading for more clarity or an in-depth meaning.

I chose ‘blockage’ as the key word then did my regular shuffle, cut, and a peek at the card on the bottom. Nitrogen, neutrality - an unbiased attitude from the deck seemed a good thing.

Helium - Palladium - Iodine, and actually the Palladium was dealt out first, but after I got them all dealt out, the cards fit better on the cloth as two rows. 

My deck has four suits, but only two are represented here. Thinking about how playing cards have two red suits and two black suits, and considering the way my suits are constructed, interpreting the cards in the top row as two hearts and a diamond, or two spades and a club makes sense. The “Name of Pharaoh” suit is about how the ancient Egyptians cataloged and sorted the world. The “Periodic Table” suit is how chemists of the 20th century cataloged and sorted the world. The other two suits are the two worlds - physical and metaphysical.

My issue with blockage has to do with cataloging and sorting, and not at all with the worlds themselves.

This is totally borne out by the expansion row - Germanium - Magnesium - Platinum, where again the card in the center, Magnesium, was dealt out first. Here again these three cards are in those same two suits. Where the top row was PPN, this row is PNP (Periodic Table, Name of Pharaoh, Periodic Table).

The entire top row contains symbols of flight: Helium, with its blimp, Palladium with the wings of the Goddess, Iodine with the wings on the caduceus. Too easy to fly away and not deal with the things on which I feel blocked.

There’s one major in the top row, Helium, a.k.a. The Fool. It’s in the Periodic Table suit. There’s one major in the bottom row, Magnesium, a.k.a. Death, which is in the Name of Pharaoh suit. To get past this blockage, move forward with perfect love and perfect trust that the change ahead brings growth.

▷ ► ► ▷Today is the only day Jaewon preferred staying in rather than going out and celebrating, which is quite weird in itself. After all, today marks the day he was brought into the world. Normal people love to celebrate, do something exciting on their birthday but Jaewon wanted nothing but to stay alone. His mind wouldn’t allow him to enjoy this day, instead he made it as depressing as he possibly could.

                He sat in the living room, contemplating what exactly he felt like doing. The lights were off, making it rather dark despite it being midday. It didn’t help that the curtains were closed, blocking any light to come in. You would think his friends would notice, but it’s been over 10 years and not a single person ever questioned his one day disappearance. He was never surprised though, everyone just lives their own lives and only ever come to Jae when they need something from him. He didn’t care, he never actually thought of his friends as actual friends. To him, they were just people to keep him occupied. He hates the thought of trusting someone only for him to get hurt for believing in them. 

                   Honestly, he’s not too sure why he’s like this on his birthday. Maybe it has something to do with having to spend another year without his parents and wondering why he was kept alive while they’re no longer around. At one point he was celebrating with his ex and he loved it for the two years they were together, but now that’s just a nail in the coffin to why he must feel so disconnected with the world today. It’s not like him to be so alone, to feel so empty but that’s what he feels every year on the same exact day. 

                   A single cupcake with one candle stuck in the middle of it was placed on the small coffee table. The lit fire slowly making the wax shrink as Jaewon would just stare at it. His elbow was rested over the hard surface while laying his cheek against the palm of his hand, his mind just clouded with everything that wasn’t part of his usual happy-go-lucky self. Deep in the back of his mind, he heard the faint words Happy Birthday Jae, sounding as if it was his parents voice from years ago mixed with the sound of the only person he truly loved as well. He felt a sting in his heart for a short moment before finally blowing out the only light in the room.

                  “Happy Birthday, huh...” He’d mumbled to himself, dropping his arms down onto the table and letting his head fall upon it, continuing to just stare at the single sweet dessert he bought for himself. “another year gone by.”

In the way that yesterday’s reading pointed out that swiftness was a strength of my divination, my pendulum told me to pick a card and see if that resonated as a keyword.

I drew the Sun (19), and knew right way it was Joy.  Not any Joy, but My Joy.  I struggle to both define this and manifest it steadily or regularly so, hey, I chose well.  I did the draw and the more adventurous draw, and scribbled in my notebook, but as this is a busy day, I have to get to the relating of those impressions later.
